Chapter 15

Wow for the first time after years, I manage to finish a fanfic under 20 chapters :D That's new.

A few days later, upon everything being restored back to normal all magical beings and humans, that had been responsible for the defeat of the Snow King were invited to appear at King Harald's palace for an award ceremony. King Harald wanted to thank everybody, that was part of the defeat and wanted to gift them as a memory each one of the hero a medal.

"Last but not least, I hereby give Lady Gerda not only the medal of heroes. I also give you a special medal for you. Not for having defeated the Snow King with your friends only. Also for having opened my eyes to the world of all the magicians and stopped me from a grave mistake. Things have improved since that day and I couldn't be more grateful to you. In agreement with other royal families, including the ones from the troll land, we had agreed to recompense you for your past heroic deeds with the old history of the Snow Queen, which we all know today as one of us. Without your golden heart Gerda, things would have been darker today. Your family must be really proud of these achievements. It's not every day you find such a rare gem," Commented Harald adjusting the pin beside the other medal of Gerda, then he stepped back to salute at the woman, which smiled and saluted back at the dark-brunette man. All the guests in the hall, including the family members and the troll family, stood present at the ceremony and applauded at Gerda's achievement. The general on the side demanded with his hand all the rewarded heroes to turn their faces to the guests to receive their love and watched half of the team bow down at the guests. Harald watched all the humans on his side bow down, then looked between Rollan and Irma, Anders wave at the kingdom as well, then turned around to look at his father, which smiled at the teenager, which ran into the arms of his father.

"You're not angry, that I disobeyed your team to go fight?"

"My son you know your old man would do anything to keep your life safe, even if he takes crazy ideas. But knowing, that you were around those guys over there in the fight, made me feel slightly better. Looks like with the time you get older you're getting closer and closer to relate with me," Commented Harald making Anders nod.

"I have to admit I was scared at first, but Rollan there took my fear away and even taught me a few tricks before we got home," Told Anders excited. "Did you know, he learned how to fight all by himself?" Asked Anders watching Harald shake his head and look at the Spaniard embrace Kai, afterward he took a look at Gerda's medals astonished, then was embraced by the blonde as well.

"Isn't that friend looking for a job?" Questioned Harald watching Anders shrug his shoulders.

"I think he wanted to work near the village or simply be around for people," Responded Anders making Harald nod, then moved his son by the back to approach Rollan along with the boy.

"Rollan. Anders told me about the few skills you showed to him," Harald spoke making the Spaniard nod. "Are you per coincidence looking for a job?"

"Yes I am, actually," Responded Rollan. "Do you know something?"

"You know in two years, I will have to send two of my castle guards in retirement and if you're interested, you could get one of their places. You could start at some point of this month and you would get to know how things work here. You have to work five days per week. It's up to you if you want all days in a row or split them somehow. You have six weeks of vacation every year and in case you're planning to have a family in the future you have 480 days of paternity leave. You can take it all at once or split it the way you want. One thing you have to know is, that the first month it's mandatory for you to take the first 30 days," Explained Harald making Rollan nod. "You're interested?"

"I'm interested, yes," Responded Rollan taking the hand of the king. "Muchas gracias," Said Rollan making Harald smile, which looked at Gerda, that had caught their conversation and approached her fiancé.

"You got a job offer?" Questioned Gerda curious making the man nod. "So no more sea adventures?" Questioned the blonde making Rollan nod, then Gerda embraced him from the side.

"Now we'll be able to see each other every day," Stated Rollan making Gerda nod.

"And I don't have to worry when you leave for days or weeks on the ocean," Admitted Gerda leaning her forehead on his cheek. "I can go on and form my life with you, knowing we're heading into a quieter future,"

"Si and before that, you have to get to know my mama. If you still want to go, we just need to decide on what day we leave," Mentioned Rollan making Gerda nod. "She will like you too. Te prometo," Gerda smiled and leaned her forehead on Rollan's.

Harald watched along with Anders as the two lovebirds bonded, then Harald sighed about seeing the scene and Anders looked up at his father.

"You still miss mom, don't you?" Asked Anders watching Harald shrug his shoulders.

"There's nothing I can do about it," Answered Harald making Anders nod, then he looked around to see the Snow Queen stood together with Irma, her parents, and Gerda's parents talking. Harald smiled a little by looking at the Snow Queen, then he gazed down at his son. "Remember, when I told you about that she had frozen you in the past?" Questioned Harald making Anders nod. "I was the reason she froze us,"

"Really?" Questioned Anders curious making Harald nod.

"It was actually for a ridiculous reason, but we were both around your age at that time. Things had changed and…...sometime later I met your mother, she was somewhere else leading a previous troll clan, until the day she got enraged about something and froze the whole continent,"

"And now she's all good?" Questioned Anders watching Harald shrug his shoulders.

Irma by the family, glimpsed at the king standing there with the prince, then Irma rolled her eyes down to think and made her way towards the duo. Anders looked up at his father, which nodded and watched the son meet up with the teenage girl.

"Congratulations on your medal," Said Anders making Irma smile.

"Thank you. You too," Responded Irma. "Do you want to meet my parents? I'd like them to get to know my new friend,"

"Sure," Responded Anders then looked up at his father. "Is that okay?"

"Go on, son," Responded Harald watching the two walk together towards the families, then Harald took a look at the Snow Queen, which had looked away from the family to spot the king, then she gave the man a smirk, making Harald grin slightly abashed, then he made his way towards the family to interact with the queen.

The upcoming year, the official date of the wedding between Rollan and Gerda had arrived. Every guest, that were invited to the wedding were present and sat in the church waiting for the event to start. Inside at the altar stood Rollan, which was all pepped up for the ceremony, and in front of him stood a woman around his size in a dark-gray dress looking at the Spaniard, which wore larger black pants and a white dress shirt, similar to his familiar red one. The woman, that was actually his mother took a look at his son, then placed her hand on the man's shoulder.

"Eres hermoso, mi hijo," Complimented the woman making Rollan smile at his mother's comment.

"Gracias, mama," Replied the son, then looked to the side to see his three groomsmen of choice. Kai, the brother of Gerda wore brown pants, a white dress shirt and a brown dress jacket to cover the rest of himself. The two additional groomsmen weren't humans, but trolls. Orm, the best friend of Gerda and King Arrog attended the act as well dressed along with Orm the same way Kai was. Kai smiled at his soon-to-be brother-in-law, then widened his eyes to see Orm scratch himself on the butt due to wearing the pants.

"How can you wear these? They're itchy," Complained Orm making Rollan chuckle along with his mother, then the mother moved to the side passing by the bridesmaids, which consisted of Alfida, Irma, and Queen Maribel. The women wore a similar dresses to one another in a gray tune to resemble the bride a little. They seemed to be quite comfortable with it, even Alfida, who usually despised dresses. Alfida began to scratch herself on the neck, earning the attention of Maribel, which shrugged her shoulder confused at the woman's deed.

By the entrance of the wedding stood Gerda in a white dress, having her lighter blonde hair shine at the sun, which she now wore in a single braid behind her head, and around her head she wore a green wreath decorated with white flowers. Gerda held in her hands a bouquet of flowers, which she held tight to her chest, and looked up at her father, which watched downstairs the church entrance King Harald hold a device on his hands a large device, which shape reminded of a satchel with a gaiter resembling one of an accordion attached on the front with a lens.

"You're going to love my new invention. I have called it instant image maker or for short IIM. I just have to press one button here and the light here flashes and imprints the exact image of what it sees," Explained Harald pointing at one button. "In three seconds I take a picture and I'll show it to you. Give me your best smiles." Asked King Harald watching the trio smile as the king began the countdown. "3….2…..1….smile!" Harald pressed the button making a snapshot and the camera imprinted the image out, then he took it out to give it to Gerda's father for the family to see. "I still haven't figured out, how to make it in colors, but it's a great progress. What do you say?" Asked the king watching Vegard smile.

"It's really astounding and fast. Una and I had organized an artist and another magician to take care of taking memorable wedding images. It just will take a little longer," Explained Vegard making Harald nod.

"Actually, King Harald can still use his camera. I like the look of them. The size as well. I could carry one with me and Rollan on it everywhere, if I would need it," Gerda commented making Vegard nod.

"It's her day Vegard. Let's give Harald this chance. I'm sure more people will like his invention," Commented Una making Gerda nod, then Harald went forward to enter the church, while Gerda stood back with her parents waiting for their turn. Vegard smiled, then looked down at his daughter and passed her hand on the daughter's cheek.

"The day is finally here, where our little girl will finally go out on the big world on the new adventure. Make the best out of it every day," Commented Vegard making Gerda smile and glimpse at her mother, which smiled happily at her daughter as well. Gerda gave her father her arm, while Una shove her hand to the other side, so Gerda could hold the bouquet and stepped in line at the entrance of the church waiting for the sign. The pipe organ began to be played, then the trio stepped into the aisle slowly making their way together towards the altar with all the guests and several trolls standing watching the bride crossing the red carpet, which led to Rollan, which stood there looking at the blonde come along making him smile enamored by seeing how beautiful Gerda looked in her wedding dress.

Behind Gerda on the ground, followed the small weasel Luta carrying a small pillow with the rings on it and stopped getting on her hindlegs to let Gerda move along with her parents closer to the altar, so she could follow a little later. In the meanwhile, Luta squeaked as one of Arrog's cubs ran out of the crowd followed by a sibling to hunt the weasel through the crowd of the humans, which shrieked about it. From the crowd of the trolls ran out Orm's grandma followed by a younger, teenage troll holding the third triplet and tried to sneak through the crowd to not disturb the ceremony. At the front Orm and Arrog looked at each other with their teeth bitten together afterward glimpsed at the troll Queen, which was surprised as well to see their energetic buddles running.

Gerda in the meanwhile was getting closer smiling brightly at seeing Rollan's facial reaction towards her seeming so sincere. Gerda couldn't resist the Charmant vibe the Spaniard gave her and when nearing the altar Gerda slid off her parents' arms to embrace the Spaniard, making him chuckle.

"Oye amor. What's going on?" Questioned Rollan feeling Gerda lean her head next to his.

"I'm just so, so happy the day is here," Commented Gerda making Rollan smile and embrace her as well, making the guests at the front applaud.

"This makes us two," Commented Rollan watching Gerda pass her hand carefully over her eye to clean up a tear and Rollan placed his hand on her cheek. "No llores,"

"Sorry...I just remembered something by seeing you," Explained Gerda then leaned her forehead beside his head closer to his ear. "And this message I can't wait any longer," Added Gerda making Rollan chuckle.

"What message?" Questioned Rollan feeling Gerda move her hand up at the back of his neck and she whispered into his ear making him shiver at her message.

"You're going to be a dad,"

Rollan smiled euphoric at that message and looked at her with the face, then Gerda placed her finger on his lip, to signal him to keep it under the two.

"We'll wait with this message for now. We got other things to focus on," The bride said quietly making Rollan nod, then he held out his hand for the blonde to grab it, then both looked together at the front and spotted King Harald from behind Irma take a snapshot of the couple, making Rollan tilt his head at the new invention and looked at Gerda, which leaned her face on his shoulder to give him puppy eyes, then Harald's camera flashed earning Rollan's attention, which saw the king take out the print and show from afar the image at Rollan, which made him understand, what the device was for. Harald dissapeared to get to join the crowd getting to stand between the Snow Queen and the mother of Rollan to look at the altar waiting for the ceremony to be announced.
