Disclaimer: I don't own Monk. This is an AU story written by my friend Marianne and myself. Please enjoy. The first several chapters will be up tonight. The next part should be up within a few weeks to a month

Everyone held their breath before the Forewoman spoke.

"We the jury find the defendant, Trudy Anne Ellison Monk guilty of the murder of 4-year-old Diana Rose Alexandra."

Adrian Monk felt like he was going to throw up. There was no way Trudy had killed anyone. She wouldn't kill bugs, instead, she preferred to take them outside and set them free.

The sentencing, Ethan Rickover announced, would take place the next day at 3 o'clock

"I have thought long and hard about this," Ethan said, "And I have come to a decision. The defendant is sentenced to the death penalty. She will be remanded to the San Francisco Correctional Facility for a period of 18 months with a formal punishment every Monday and Friday. She is to be put to death on the 19th of July at midnight by lethal injection."

"YOUR HONOR," Monk started, "This-"

"I didn't say you may speak Mr. Monk," Ethan interrupted, "My ruling is final."

The guards grabbed Trudy and dragged her away like she was a sack of potatoes instead of a human being. It made Adrian sick to see that."

Everyone stood. The judge rose and left for chambers.

Trudy's shoulders shook.

Monk wanted so badly to go to her. He knew that if he tried, he would be prevented by the two large court bailiffs.

There was a murmur behind him as those present discussed the verdict, and he didn't notice.

He was only looking at Trudy.

She tried to smile at him,

He mouthed, I'll come for you. I love you.

He saw her respond "I love you too" before the guards took her away.
