As soon as Adrian left the courthouse, Leland hurried to catch up with him.

"Monk," Leland said, "Slow down."

Adrian waited for Leland to catch up with him.

"This is insane," he said as soon as he and Leland were within close distance from each other. They were able to talk so nobody could hear them.

Leland nodded in agreement.

"It's not fair," Adrian continued, "I've seen her set bugs free rather than kill them."

"No, she's innocent," Leland replied, "Someone set her up though. All the evidence points to her."

"I can't lose her," Adrian said, "I would be a shell instead of a person if I lost her."

"We're going to figure this out," Leland promised him.

Leland drove Adrian home. There was silence until they got to Adrian's house.

"Sit down Monk," Leland said gently.

Adrian sighed and sat down.

When he finally sat down the stress and lack of sleep caught up to him. Blinking, Adrian focused on what Leland was saying.

"I've got forensics going over the scene. We're looking for security camera footage and canvassing for eyewitnesses. We'll find something. I swear…"

Leland stopped.

"Go on."

"It's just, Monk, you look done in. Why don't you sleep here tonight?"

Adrian had to admit that was a good idea. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow. But it wasn't long before uneasy dreams came.

Trudy lay on the hospital bed, an IV in her arm. He tried like hell to get through the door but it was locked. He even tried to break the window.

"Monk," Leland said gently, "She's already gone,"

He woke up with a start.

"Monk," Leland asked, "Are you okay?"

"How can I be," Adrian asked, "My wife is on death row."

Leland hugged his friend.

"I know," he said, "But we're going to figure this out."

"I just worry we won't figure it out on time," Adrian admitted, "I don't even want her hurting and-"

"I know," Leland said, "Neither do I."

"I'm gonna go visit her," Adrian said.

"Monk it's midnight," Leland pointed out, "Visiting hours are from 8 to 10 twice a day."

"Right," Adrian said.
