As I run across the rooftops to Adrien's, I feel like the moon is like a big silvery spotlight, and saying, look at me! Okay, if someone saw me running up here it wouldn't be a big deal, but if they knew were I was running to, that would be a whole different story.
I make the long leap into Adrien's window, and land with a soft thump! In his room. It only takes a second to see all the lights are off, and I begin to feel my cheeks burn. Maybe Adrien got tired of waiting for me and went to bed, after all he needs his beauty sleep…..
Feeling a bit foolish, I turn and stumble into something wooden and hard, groaning as it makes noise. A light snaps on, blinding me, and I slowly turn to see a sleepy Adrien, fully clothed with bed hair, sitting up on his bed.
We just stare at each other, and the moments tick by. "Um, hey," I squeak, wishing hard that I actually were a tiny ladybug who could fly away. "Did I fall asleep? I'm so sorry!" Adrien runs a hand through his blonde hair, making it stick up even more. It sets me off into giggles and he smiles at me. "Well, now you know I don't wake up looking perfect." I step closer, my awkward shyness melting away. "Yeah, us girls only dream it." Oh, feathers, why did I open my mouth? "Are you any good with a comb?" Adrien jokes, and I nod. "Lend me one, and I'll work my magic."
Soon, I'm running a comb through Adrien's hair, trying not squeal how good it smells. "You still want to order a pizza?" he asks, twisting his head slightly, and I nearly pass out from his closeness and minty breath. "Sure. I could go for a slice. Pepperoni with extra cheese?" Adrien grins, "Now we're talking."
He orders and I leap off the bed, and settle in the desk chair. "Its really good to see you," his eyes soften and I nod. "Like I said, I really do want to get to know you. Do you have any hobbies?" I bite my lip, debating on how much to tell him, and blurt out the truth. "I want to be a fashion designer someday." "That's impressive. Women's clothes only, or men's as well?" "I want to do everything," I tell him, my eyes shining. "Although sometimes I wonder if its my true calling, or if I'm destined to do something else." "Whatever you would do in life would be impressive, after all for years you've saved people on a daily basis." "Its all part of the job, rather I like the people or not." I smile at him. "And their was some real stinkers."
Adrien looks like he's about to ask another question, when someone knocks on the door. "Ye hot pizza, for the Lord and Lady-er, bug," he smiles as he sets the pizza on the table. "Enjoy." We sit down at the table, digging in. "My cousin Felix. He's been living here since my father died." I touch his hand. "I'm sorry to hear that." "Thank you. It still doesn't feel like he's gone. Sometimes I can hear him tell me to practice this or that, maybe he's haunting the house." I shiver, thinking of how when I defeated Hawkmoth it felt so UN-satifysing, for he merely disappeared into the fog. "This is a mansion, after all." Adrien helps himself to a slice. "So, do you have many friends? You don't have to answer if your uncomfortable."
My eyes suddenly well up, and I can't tell if its from my emotions or the cheese lump stuck in my throat. "I used to. But after they left for college, we've drifted apart. I don't even see Cat anymore." Oh, why did I bring up Cat? This first meet up is supposed to be fun. "Did you have feelings for your partner?" I clear my throat, softly, opting for the truth. "My heart was always torn in two, for I loved Cat and I also loved….other boy," Way to go, I scold myself. Why do you chicken out when you can tell him its you? Because, rejection hurts to much, my inner voice pipes up before I can stop it. "Other boy? Sounds like you have a list of admirers." I can tell he's disappointed that I kept the other boy a secret, but I don't want to lie. "Like I said, only two have ever captured my heart."
Just then, the clock on Adrien's nightstand begins chiming, and I gasp as I realize the time. "How is it already midnight?" I get up from my chair. "I should go." I quickly head towards the window, ready to leap up on the ledge but Adrien catches my arm. "Wait! What you would happen if you stayed later? Would you turn into a pumpkin?" Oh, how beautiful is this boy, who's emerald green eyes sparkle with mirth? "That sounds like a joke Cat would say." "Would he be impressed?" I nod. "If he didn't get jealous first." Adrien gives me a smirk I cannot read, but his expression changes quickly. "Could we meet up again soon? Later in the week?" This evening has gone better then I expected, and I nod. Adrien's face lights up. "Great. I know you said we could just meet here, but could meet in the park Thursday night? There's something fun I have planned." "All right. I'll meet you at the west iron gate of Orchard Park Thursday night at eleven."
"Its a da-meeting," he grins and I leap out the window calling good night. When I get home and detransform, I'm still excited so I splash water on my cheeks and notice that my bluebell eyes are sparkling.
I groan, fumbling with the covers as I try to find my alarm clock. "No, no, Marinette! Remember, today is the first day of sewing class. You wouldn't want to be late, would you?" "Yikes!" I stumble out of bed, frantically searching for a cute outfit. "I think you should wear the overalls with this shirt," Tikki points to one of my outfits that I haven't worn for awhile. "Overalls? You sure?" Nikki insists, and I pull on my clothes for if I argue to long, it will be to late for Starbucks.
When I get to the mansion, Felix lets me in. I sign in, and find ten or so other girls at different sewing stations that Felix set up. I'm walking to my station, when I crash into two girls. "Watch out, this is design denim!" My cheeks burn, clearly this girl will be trouble. "Anything wrong?" A familiar voice says, before I can utter a sorry. The girl's mouth drops open. "Adrien! Don't you look handsome! Off to a shoot?" she asks, completely ignoring me. "Not anything fun. Just a business meeting. Hello, Marinette." The girl glares daggers at me and slinks away as she loses interest. While passing Adrien whispering, "you look beautiful. Like a sunflower, and its always nice to see the sun." My cheeks flood with heat and now everyone is staring at me and sit down in my seat.
I see Felix leaning against the wall watching, clearly he's seen the whole thing. Great. Then he straightens up and claps his hands. "Shall we get started with introductions?" I find out that the rude girl is named Caleum, and her father runs a handbag shop, not far from where I live.
"Today, I want us to get used to the needle and thread. I know its boring to go back to basic, but we can all use a little tune-up. You may work on the fabric in front of you, making any pattern you'd like. You have fifteen minutes, and your time begins now."
In all the sewing classes I've been, we would always scope out our competition, seeing who was the best. But I just keep my head down and begin to work, thinking of the kind words Adrien whispers and start to daydream.
"Time's up!" Felix claps his hands and I jump, snapping out of my daydream. "Look, Aria, look how high she jumps! Maybe she pricked her finger!" Caleum whispers to her seatmate, and I sigh, ignoring her.
We go around the room, showing what we've created and when I hold up my cloth, Felix smiles and winks at me, "Ah, a lover of cats I see!" Since I was daydreaming, I was half paying attention, finding that I'm stitched a black cat snoozing under a smiling sun.
"Cat." I whisper, hoping to see him soon. "Good work today, everyone." I hang back so I can talk to Felix. "Aria and Caleum are going to be difficult." "Why talk about them when you can tell me about your date?" "Felix!" I groan. "Your just fishing for gossip. But it went well. We're meeting up on Thursday night at the park."
"Good. Now, I need to get going. Kagami messaged me during class that she's arrived at the airport. Say, what to come along?" "Okay." We chat about books and movies and Felix teases me that he must teach me chess. "I'm not so genius like you!" I give him a playful shove as we exit the car when we arrive the at the airport parking garage. Felix looks around with mischievous smile, and transforms waving his fan as Argos in front of his face. "I'm enjoying the compliments, Ladybug! Do tell me more!" "Stop!" I laugh, and look around quickly, relieved to see we're by ourselves.
I'm so happy when Felix and Kagami are reunited, and they hold hands and chatter a mile a minute as we head back to Paris.
I tune out their voices and roll down the window, enjoying the fresh breeze and dream of a certain blonde hair boy. Life is good, but being with my friends is even better!
