It was Friday. Being the middle of winter it was really cold and Trudy shivered when she woke up. She groaned as she realized the day. Scarlet came and unlocked the door.

"Hey," Scarlet said, "You have some visitors."

"How many," Trudy asked.

"Your parents and your husband," Scarlet replied.

Trudy, feeling better instantly, went to follow Scarlet to the visiting room. Her parents and Adrian were already there.

"Remember," Scarlet said, "You only have 4 hours. You can come back tonight for another 4 hours."

"Thank you," Trudy said as Scarlet hugged her. Once the door was closed and locked everyone started talking all at once.

"Slow down," Trudy said laughing, "One at a time– I can't hear all of you at the same time."

"We're just all so glad to see you."

"It's wonderful to see you all and I really appreciate that you all came here. I know it's not easy."

That was just like Trudy to think of others before herself. Her parents had found it jolting, coming into the prison, going through security, and having to leave all their belongings outside.

Adrian updated them all on Leland's progress.

"He's just looking for more proof and I'm helping. We are hoping to have more very soon. We know that if everything goes according to plan, Trudy won't have much longer before she's free."

After that, they almost forgot the grim gray walls and uncomfortable chairs as they reconnected.

Meanwhile, Karen had gone to see her doctor. Dr. Richard was a good friend of Karen's. Two years ago, Karen had been diagnosed with stomach cancer and she was starting to have some pain in her stomach. She didn't say anything yet because she didn't want to worry anyone. She was hoping it wasn't anything serious.

Dr. Richard examined her and found no tumors in her stomach.

"I just want to check your uterus," he said.

He put the wand on Karen and sighed.

"Did you know you're pregnant," he asked Karen.

Karen sat up.

"I'm what," she asked.

Tears pooled in her eyes.

"Am I having a miscarriage," she asked.

"No," Dr. Richard reassured her, "You're giving birth… today!"

"WHAT! You're telling me I'm forty weeks pregnant and in labor," Karen asked

"Yes," Dr. Richard said, "We have to get you to the hospital."

"If I had known I was pregnant," Karen began, "I wouldn't have gotten mad when I did. The stress couldn't have been good for the baby. If I had known I was pregnant I would have eaten more. What if there's something wrong with this baby? It would be all my fault."

Dr. Richard put his hand on Karen's shoulder.

"Everything will be alright," he said soothingly, "Come on. Let's get you to the hospital. I'll call Leland."

Leland's phone rang.

"Leland Stottlemeyer speaking," Leland said.

"Leland," Dr. Richard said, "You have to get down to San Fransisco General Hospital as soon as possible."

Leland felt his stomach turn to ice.

"Is something wrong? Is it Jennifer?"

"No," Dr. Richard said, "It's Karen. She's forty weeks pregnant and in labor."

Leland blinked. He must have heard wrong.

"K-Karen's in labor? How is that possible?"

"She wasn't showing signs of pregnancy. That's why you missed the pregnancy. But she is in labor right now. She's going to deliver within 45 minutes to an hour."
