Jakob looked out of the window of the family home. It has been about 20 or so years since he last saw the old neighborhood.
"When was the last time you spoke to Mary," he asked Dom, who walked in with a beer in each hand. He accepted the beer with a soft thanks.
Dom looked surprised. "I haven't spoken to her in years," he rumbled.
Jakob's eyebrows rose. "What?"
Dom shrugged. "The last I saw her, she came over and started screaming at me saying I got Vince killed."
Jakob's eyes widened. "Dom. That was over 10 years ago."
Dom nodded and sat down. "Yeah, I know." He sighed. "Letty tried speaking to her over the years, but Mary just ignores her. Mia's tried, but they got into an argument about 5 years ago. Mary said that ever since Brian came into our live, I forgot who my family was." Dom shook his head. "I'll admit, Vince was right about Brian being a cop, but Brian's Mia's husband. He's my brother."
"Once upon a time, so was Vince," Jakob replied softly.
The Toretto brothers both looked down in silence. "I haven't had much to say or do with Mary. She's always hated me, and Vince's death just…" Dom trailed off.
"Yeah," Jakob agreed.
Han Chae-la walked quietly through the halls of her father's office. The office workers quickly scurried away at the sight of her. As President, she was always a figure of awe and fear. As Chae-la, she was frightening on another level.
A quick knock followed by "Enter!" saw her inside of her father's office, standing in front of his desk. "You wanted to see me?"
The old man looked up from his computer, his face impassive. "Your brother is alive."
Chae-la's gasp died before leaving her mouth. "Father, as much as we miss Lue, this joke is in poor taste."
Her father sat back. "I wish it was a joke. Otherwise, why would my son have the need to fake his own death?"
"He faked his death?"
"Apparently, he and the rest of his friend's team were targeted for revenge. A government agency decided to use the opportunity as a way to gain a new operative."
Chae-la stood impassively, her mouth a harsh line. "Is this information verified?" was all she asked.
The old man nodded. "My government and….non goverment….contacts have verified it."
"Where is he?"
His hands spread out in appeasement at the tone of her voice. "I do not know."
"Has Toretto made contact?"
"Why would he when he never made contact after his death?"
Author's Note: I had a little plot dust bunny after watching Fast X. Maybe it will become more, maybe not.
