Tales of Conviction: A Triangle Strategy Novelization

This is my attempt at a Triangle Strategy Novelization which will follow the Golden Route and focuses a little more on character interaction and tries to expand on certain characters' thoughts. As for the title, It was kind of an unintentional reference to the Tales series, but I'm keeping it anyway. I might deviate a bit and add my own dialogue and change some of the character introductions for some of the optional party members so that they fit storyline-wise, though I may not be able to squeeze all of the optional characters in.

I could feasibly squeeze in Narve, Quahaug, Piccoletta, Hossabara, Medina, Milo, Cordelia and maybe both Corentin and Rudolph for example. I might also throw in OCs, though they'll be based around generic Glenbrook and Aesfrost troops.

Disclaimer: Triangle Strategy and its associated characters and locations was developed by Square Enix.

Prologue: A Young Hawk Soars

It was a clear, sunny day as a ship ferrying a young pink haired woman wearing a regal red and black outfit and gloves and her attendant, an older woman with black hair, dark complexion and a greenish outfit with a white cloak sailed into the harbor in the Wolffort Demesne. A couple of soldiers in red armor accompanied them.

"We'll be arriving in Glenbrook, soon" the older woman said.

The pinkette nodded.

One of the soldiers addressed the pink-haired young woman"Lady Frederica, Do you need us to escort you further?"

"No, we'll be fine on our own, we'll be meeting someone at the harbor" Frederica replied"I hear that he's not the type to keep a lady waiting" she then thought of her upcoming engagement to the son and heir of House Wolffort, she'd been feeling apprehensive, but had a duty to fulfil, the agreement was between the kingdom of Glenbrook and its northern neighbor, the Duchy of Aesfrot.

"Are you nervous?" The older woman asked.

"A little" Frederica replied.

The ship docked at Wolffort Harbor, the two women and their escort disembarking. One of the soldiers addressed them"We've done our duty, we'll now-" An arrow had shot the solldier in the back, killing him.

"What the?" The other soldier turned, only to be downed by another arrow.

"Who's there?" Frederica was alarmed.

"Heh, so you're that Aesfrosti noble I heard about" a man with wild, unkempt hair wearing furs and a trouser said. Standing next to him was a red-haired young woman with a similar attire.

"Who's there?" Frederica clutched her tome.

"Bandits, from the look of it" Her attendant frowned, holding a stave"They don't seem too keen on listening to reason."

The beefy bandit laughed"Ha, ha, well, now that you're here, your luck's ran out. When I get my hands on you, we will bleed House Wolffort and the grand duchy dry of gold." He brandished a club.

The female bandit got out a bow out as several more bandits came into view.

"Hold it!" a voice called, a young man with black hair, leather brown jacket lined with furs over a black tunic and pants came into the scene, rushing to stand in front of the two women, protectively. Accompanying him was an older man in his sixties with white hair, glasses, silver hair and a beard, he wore a greenish shirt with brown vestmants and pants. he young man had been on his way to meet his betrothed at the harbor when he spotted the bandits accosting the two women.

"How dare you assault innocent women?" The young man said.

"Who are you!?" The bandit leader demanded.

The young swordsman gave the bandits a blank look, replying with a calm, but firm voice"You needn't know who I am, just surrender peacefully and there won't be any harm."

"You take me for a fool?" The bandit leader, Travis scoffed"With that getup and fancy way of talking, you must be the young Wolffort pup."

"Quite the resemblance between you and the woman next to you, might you be father and daughter?" The young man asked.

"Yeah, Travis is my dad. And my name's Trish" The bandit archer quipped.

Travis brandished his club"Enough talk! This may not have been what we planned, but I will get you all just the very same."

The older gentleman pulled a sword from his cane"Well done, my lord. The bandit leader is too riled up to focus. Let's drive those bandits back."

"Right, Benedict" The younger swordsman nodded, then turned to address the women"We will handle this, you two stay back."

"Thank you, but I shall fight alongside you" Frederica replied.

The young man, Serenoa was uncertain"You sure?"

"Frederica is a most apt pupil of the arcane arts" The older woman spoke on her student's behalf"I am her tutor, Geela. A healer."

Serenoa nodded"Then stay close to me."

Travis and two bandits headed towards Serenoa.

"We will hold them here at the docks, but wade into the shallows of the water if we must" Benedict said.

Serenoa nodded, drawing his sword and parrying as one of the bandits tried to attack him, driving him back with a slash. Travis snarled and tried to grab Frederica, only to get pushed back by a fire blast from the pink haired mage while Benedict cast a protective shield on Frederica and Geela.

Trish was about to take a step forward when another voice called, addressing Serenoa"Why didn't you tell me you were having fun here? I would have joined you sooner."

"Who's there?" Frederica looked over to the staircase leading down to the docks from the upper platform as another young man rode a white horse into view, he had blond hair, brown eyes and wore a greenish royal tunic with pants and brown vestments.

"Roland?" Serenoa looked over, making sure to keep an eye on the battlefield"What are you doing here?"

"Couldn't just sit by, I wanted to be with you when you meet up with your betrothed" The horseman smiled"But right now, shall we see which of us can cut down the most of these brigands?"

"This is no game, Roland. What would I tell your father if something happened?" Serenoa asked before having to block an incoming attack from Travis.

Roland rode his steed down from a nearby slope.

"Oh ho, more fun, eh?" Trish fired an arrow, narrowly missing the horseman as he rushed at her with his spear, prompting her to jump to the side. Another bandit tried to slam Roland with his axe, only to be on the receiving end of a quick thrust from the blond's spear.

Travis swung his club again, only for Serenoa to parry, then kick him back. Frederica, meanwhile had blasted a bandit with Blazing Chain. Benedict had to interpose as another bandit rushed at the mage, giving Frederica enough time to cast a fireball at the brigand.

"D***!" Travis gasped as Serenoa narrowly slashed him across the chest"We didn't prepare for this..." The bandit leader turned to Trish and the remaining bandits in his group"Let's hightail it out of there."

Serenoa sheathed his blade as the thieves retreated from the area"I would have preferred to apprehend the thieves and see them atone for their crimes. But This will have to do." He turned to Frederica"Are you all right?"

"Yes" Frederica bowed her head gratefully"I am thankful for your assistance. I am Frederica Aesfrost, and this is my attendant Geela. Might I ask you your name?"

"Ah, forgive me for not introducing myself sooner" Serenoa felt a bit embarrassed"I am Serenoa, Heir to House Wolffort." He then proceeded to introduce his companion"This is Benedict, Steward of House Wolffort and my father's trusted advisor."

"A pleasure to meet you" Benedict told Frederica.

"Likewise" Roland got off his horse and walked over.

Frederica and Geela glanced over at the blond, seeing a ring bearing the royal crest of Glenbrook on one of Roland's fingers.

"Ah, it seems we are in the presence of royalty" Geela commented.

"I am Roland, the second prince of Glenbrook" Roland said"You can tell House Wolffort seems to have a bright future ahead when its future Lord and Lady make a great team, together."

"To witness a prince and a lord facing down bandits, together. Glenbrook more than lives up to its reputation" Geela said, impressed.

"So, Roland. Did you sneak out again?" Serenoa asked.

The prince shrugged"Ehh, its not like anyone would miss me, especially not my father. Well, guess I better head back, good day to all of you." He rode his horse in the direction of Glenbrook's royal city.

"I am truly honored to be by your side, Lord Serenoa" Frederica said.

"I am of the same mind" Serenoa nodded"You held yourself well."

"Thank you" The pinkette awkwardly rubbed her head, then bit her lip for a second, suddenly unsure of the young lord's true opinion of her"Oh, and this may seem like an odd question, but... Does the color of my hair mean anything to you?"

The young lord shook his head"I find it nothing to be surprised about, we have Roselle living in our very demesne."

Frederica was happy to hear that"You are too kind, my lord."

"Let us return to Castle Wolffort, My Lord" Benedict said.

Serenoa nodded, turning to lead the way to Castle Wolffort. Geela, Benedict and Frederica followed.

How's this so far? I'm sorry if it was a lazy effort, I've not done a story in a while. Oh, and I know this mostly follows the game's exact dialogue, but I'm not that creative when it comes to canon characters, events and stories. Since the story is so heavy with events, especially around the beginning of the game, I might find myself cutting corners here and there like I did with Serenoa.
