AN: Okay so this is my second work. While I have seen some other fics like this one I will be trying to keep it as original as I can. So without any further to do, I do not own Naruto or RWBY, they belong to their creators and the studios that animate them...
Chapter 1
October tenth, a day celebrated in the hidden village of Konohagakure in remembrance to those lost in the unexpected and unprovoked attack by the monstrous Kyūbi no Kitsune and its defeat by the previous leader of the village Yondaime Hokage, Namikaze Minato. The day of this celebration marks the ninth anniversary of the darkest event to befall Konoha since the defection of Madara Uchiha during the reign of the Shodai Hokage Hashirama Senju. Unknown to those who visit the village for the celebration now called the Kyūbi festival, Konoha residents especially the civilians and the lower ranked shinobi had another activity they take part in called the fox hunt. Though on this night little did these misguided fools know that their actions on this night would lead to the rise of something much worse than just a Biju, something Grimm.
Naruto Uzumaki was nine years old today and if you were to ask him what he thought about it he could only say that birthdays, especially his were horrible. Ever since he had been kicked out of the orphanage at the age of four, Naruto had seldom experienced a few 'good days.' Naruto had struggled for the first six months on his own on the streets of the red-light district, trying to survive as best he could by eating out of trashcans and hunting small animals outside the village walls. The hardest part aside from the cold winter had definitely been the mobs that had been made up to hunt the small boy down. Unfortunately due to his bright blond hair, blue eyes, tan skin, and whisker marks made it almost impossible for the malnourished child to avoid the mobs. This lead to Naruto spending the first few months having to learn to tend his fast-healing injuries until he had mapped out the best alleyways to lose his pursuers.
Flashback no Jutsu!
Life for the young boy seemed to turn for the better on the day he met his 'Jiji' the Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi. Naruto had decided that with the early summer heat he would be safer in the woods outside the populated areas, and he was right. Not only was he able to keep himself from being attacked by the mobs Naruto had also been able to better feed himself after observing the foraging classes of the ninja academy. Naruto was roasting a clutch of fish over a campfire when he was approached by the old Hokage. Worried for a moment that he was going to be attacked, Naruto attempted to jump up to run away only to be stopped by the old man's request to wait. The two spent the next few hours talking, Hiruzen asking why Naruto was on his own in the forest. After the boy had explained how the orphanage matrons had tossed him out into the streets on his birthday and what the boy had experienced at the hands of the villagers Sarutobi could only feel sorrow and righteous anger at the treatment of his successor's son.
It had taken another month of visits from the old man for Hiruzen to gain a semblance of Naruto's trust. During their talks the Hokage noticed the hunger for knowledge the boy seemed to have that reminded the elderly leader of his father. Making up his mind Sarutobi talked the boy into accepting his invitation to join the Konoha Shinobi Academy at the end of the summer. Excited at the prospect of becoming strong as a shinobi Naruto thanked the Hokage with a jumping hug that almost knocked the older man on his ass.
The weeks leading up to his first day at the academy was full of surprises for Naruto. First Sarutobi surprised the boy with a fully furnished apartment. Sarutobi also told the boy that his food shopping would be taken care of so Naruto no longer had to forage or dive through trashcans to find food. Then the Hokage escorted Naruto to get supplies for his time at the academy. At first the shop keepers attempted to chase the young boy out while throwing insults at him, only to backtrack and cower at the sheer menace of their village leader. By the end of their trip Naruto had a complete wardrobe of new clothes, new sandals, and a complete set of textbooks for the academy. Seeing the stack of books Naruto with some trepidation asked his Jiji for help due to never learning to read due to the neglect of the orphanage. Once again angered at the abuse the young man had experienced Sarutobi smiled down at the boy and agreed to help the young boy learn to read and write. By the end of the second week Sarutobi was flabbergasted at how fast Naruto learned. The boy had picked up the basics of reading and clearly writing in only a week, then began almost devouring the textbooks he had been given. Naruto had finished the first-year material and was now almost a quarter of a way through the second year.
Proud of the progress and talent Naruto was showing, Sarutobi had decided that the boy needed something else to look at before he finished the entirety of his schoolbooks before the academy even started. To remedy this the Hokage took Naruto to the village library, and after some convincing *cough-cough*threatening*cough-cough* the staff was shown that any discrimination against his ward would be… unwise. Not paying attention to the goings on around him, Naruto could only stare wide eyed at the massive amount of books around him. Before he could run into the stacks to find something new to read, Naruto almost jumped a foot into the air when he felt a hand rest on his shoulder. Looking back Naruto gave a relieved sigh at the sight of his Jiji who smiled down at him before speaking.
"Now Naruto-kun, there are a few rules you need to follow when you are in the library, ok?" Chuckling at the rapid nods the blond gave him Sarutobi continued raising a finger at each point. "First you must keep quiet while you are reading here so as not to disturb any other patrons here. Second is you cannot run in here and if you cannot reach a higher shelf, either grab a ladder or ask any of the librarians if they are not busy to help you. Third-" Reaching into a pocket in his robe, Sarutobi handed Naruto a card with his name on it. "-this is a library card; it will give you permission to check-out up to three books. If you show you can show me that you can be responsible and do not damage any of the books that limit will increase. Do you understand the rules my boy?" Nodding to his question, Naruto took the card delight filling his eyes.
The librarians that had been watching the scene were surprised at the look the boy had on only receiving a simple library card. Seeing the innocent excitement on the so called 'demon brats' face the librarians decided that they could give the boy the benefit of a doubt and draw their own conclusions. For the rest of the time leading up to the beginning of the academy Naruto attempted to learn anything he could, focusing mostly on survival and life skills. Naruto was particularly a fan of cooking after learning that proper nutrition was a major part of having a healthy body(particularly if you wanted to grow tall).
The morning of his first day of the academy was a nerve racking one for Naruto, though he also felt a thrill of excitement at the opportunity to not only learn to protect himself and maybe make some friends. The first thing that Naruto noticed when he came to the class was how much older the kids in the class seemed to be compared to him, even the youngest seemed to be at least seven years old. What registered next was the looks he was receiving from his classmates; initially only confusion at such a young child being in their class, then recognition followed by disgust and hatred. Taken aback and afraid of the sudden hostility he could feel Naruto began to back out of the door only to back into something behind him. Stiffening, Naruto looked back to find what appeared to be a Chunin, likely his sensei, giving him the same look of disgust and hatred. The large man narrowed his brown eyes and sneered at the boy and told the boy to get into his seat before he was punished.
Shaking in fear Naruto quickly made his way to an empty row in the back of the class as the rest of the students made it clear he would not be welcomed. Sitting down, Naruto felt the elation that had been building since he had met the Sandaime begin to fall, feeling the foreboding that his time at this academy wouldn't be the change he had hoped for.
It turned out that the feeling that Naruto had was on point, after his first day Naruto experienced multiple attempted sabotages to his work, both from his teachers as well as his fellow students. Destroyed or altered assignments and tests assured that Naruto had been placed as the 'Dead Last' of the class. The teachers taught him the wrong stances for the academy fighting style, and during sparing classes Naruto was placed against the strongest members of his class, who took an almost sadistic pleasure in beating the young blond down. Naruto had attempted to bring this to the Hokage, but the man had been extremely busy and the secretary outside his office would never allow him to see the old man, even threatening to have the ANBU throw him from the building. Downtrodden, but not beaten by this Naruto decided his best bet would be to collect the evidence of his sabotage and show it to his Jiji at his first opportunity.
Things continued like this, though Naruto had been able to find manuals for the academy style and shuriken-jutsu in the library with the help of the librarians. The librarians had finally changed their views on the boy seeing how hard he studied and how hard he worked. Unfortunately, the librarians were unable to help Naruto more due to fear of retaliation from the Civilian Council. Things came to a head on Naruto's fifth birthday, against his Jiji's wishes that he had received via a letter left in his apartment, Naruto had left his apartment to see the Kyūbi Festival after overhearing some of his classmates talking about the games and food that was found at the celebration. Naruto had barely been at the main area of the celebration before he was suddenly struck by a rock thrown by a drunken civilian, turning after rubbing the area that had been hit fear ran through the boy. Standing in front of him appeared to be a collection of drunken civilians holding different weapons, at the first yells of 'Get the Demon!!!' Naruto immediately turned and attempted to run back to his apartment remembering Hokage Jiji telling him that there were protections in place to keep others from breaking into his apartment.
In the end Naruto's young age and sabotaged training betrayed him and he was caught by the villagers. What proceeded was one of the worst beatings Naruto had ever received and the 'official' start of the 'Fox Hunt'. Naruto had only survived due to a squad of ANBU that had been returning from a mission, lead by an ANBU wearing an Inu mask and gravity defying silver hair. Along with him were three other ANBU; a woman wearing a Neko mask, a young man wearing a Weasel mask, and another young woman wearing a Hebi mask. When the four came across the scene their collective KI(Killing Intent) forced the mob of civilians to almost immediately collapse under the weight of it.
Jumping down Inu, Neko, Weasel, and Hebi were shocked and disgusted at what they found. Naruto lay on the ground both his legs and arms broken in multiple places, lacerations trailed his body shredding his clothes to rags covered in his own blood, but what was worse was on his chest and back someone had carved the words 'DEMON BRAT' and had looked to have attempted to cauterize the wounds to prevent the wound from healing. Shaking in rage at what had been done to the poor by Inu turned to his team and spoke in a cold and fury filled voice, "Team, I am going to take young Uzumaki to the hospital for treatment." Seeing them nod Inu continued, "As for these Animals, I want you to round them all up execute the instigators and bring the rest to Ibiki Morino for the torture and attempted murder of a child. Then report this to the Hokage and tell him I will be staying with Naruto to ensure he is treated by the hospital staff." The three other ANBU once again nodded and saluted with a quick "Hai Captain."
Before any in the crowd could gather themselves to speak up Inu left the area carrying Naruto in a leaf shunshin. Three hours later found the Hokage storming into the hospital and rushing to the receptionist, who was shaking in fear at the waves of anger that was radiating from the aged Kage. Fixing the young woman with a stare Hiruzen spoke to the woman with a voice that held power and authority, "Where is Naruto Uzumaki's room and what is his current condition?" While the woman did her best to not collapse under the intent that the Hokage was releasing, she could not answer due to her nerves. Becoming upset at the receptionist's refusal to answer him Hiruzen was about to speak again before he heard a call of "Hokage-sama" behind him. Turning around the Hokage began to calm down seeing the form of Kakashi Hatake in his ANBU uniform kneeling in deference to his leader. Breathing in to relieve the rest of his anger and stress at the news he had heard from the rest of Kakashi's team Hiruzen spoke to the young man in front of him.
"Inu, please report what happened to Naruto, and what is his current condition?" Looking at the young man in front of him Hiruzen was not surprised to see the tense set to the ANBU's shoulders as he responded to his leader's request. "Yes Hokage-sama, my team and I were returning from our last mission to report to ANBU headquarters to submit our report, when Hebi and I noticed a collection of civilians surrounding something outside the shinobi district. Deciding to check what the commotion was about my team, and I witnessed the group attacking someone, jumping down to separate the mob we found that the one being attacked was none other than Naruto Uzumaki." At this Kakashi had to take a deep breath to collect himself before continuing, "Naruto had severe wounds all over his body; both his legs and arms were broken in multiple places as well as his ribs, he was bleeding from multiple slashes across his body, and someone had carved 'DEMON BRAT' into his chest and back while attempting to cauterize the wounds to permanently scar him." Hiruzen was fighting to keep himself calm and not lash out in anger at what had happened to his surrogate grandson. Finally calming himself down he spoke again to Kakashi.
"Please continue Inu, what happened next and what happened to the civilians that did this to the boy?" The Hokage even surprised himself at how he had been able to keep the anger from his voice, Kakashi not noticing this continued his report. "After evaluating the scope of Naruto's wounds I determined that the boy needed immediate medical attention. Picking up the boy, I ordered the rest of my squad to execute the instigators of the mob and to bring the rest to TI to have a visit with Ibiki Morino." Hearing the vindication in the ANBU's voice the Hokage could only agree that Kakashi had done the same as he would have done in his shoes. Sighing Hiruzen looked back down at Kakashi, "and what is Naruto's current condition?"
Kakashi looked up at his leader, his scowl hidden by his Inu mask as he responded, "When I first arrived with Naruto the staff attempted to refuse to see him stating they had no time to attend to some worthless orphan." Feeling his leaders KI begin to rise again Kakashi continued, "In response I 'persuaded' the staff that it would be in their best interest if they did make it their priority that Naruto was treated if they didn't want an up-front meeting with you, Hokage-sama." Nodding at this Hiruzen gestured for Kakashi to continue, "Naruto's bones have been set and his lacerations have been closed and treated, the cauterized cuts seemed to scab and fall off revealing fresh skin. From what the doctors could find Naruto should be healed enough to leave in less than a week." Nodding Hiruzen smiled at the ANBU Captain when a plan formed in his mind.
"Inu, I wish for you and your team to take turns guarding Naruto on rotation. Whenever you or your team are not on mission or off duty could you all split the watch between you four?" looking up at his leader in surprise and a bit of hope Kakashi asked to clarify, "Hokage-sama will we be able to interact with the boy, or will we only jump in to defend him from attack?" At the young man's question Hiruzen felt like he had aged another ten years knowing that his next words would hurt Kakashi. "I'm sorry Inu but you cannot make first contact with the boy. The only way for you to speak to him is if he can sense you or your teammates. I wish I could let you do more, but the Civilian Council and the Elders have been working to keep Naruto isolated from any who could help him. I worry this is the work of Danzo to keep Naruto isolated so that he can be more easily conditioned into ROOT." Kakashi tried hard not to smash his fist into the nearest wall.
The damn Civilian Council and Elders were the main reason he and the rest of those who knew who Naruto's parents were could never adopt him. They gave various inane reasons such as Naruto couldn't be adopted by the clans due to the balance of power shifting due to his status as a Jinchuriki. Non-shinobi families couldn't adopt him because of the 'inherent danger' a Jinchuriki losing control of their Biju in times of high stress, though that excuse went right out the window when it came to mental and physical abuse by the populace. 'Damn Hypocrites,' Kakashi thought to himself, until something his leader said stuck out, "you cannot make 'first' contact-" realizing what the Hokage was thinking to get passed the ruling of the Civilian Council and Elders, Kakashi smiled looking back to the Hokage. "Hai Hokage-sama, I accept this mission, I will speak with the rest of my team to set up the rotation." Returning to his feet Kakashi saluted his leader with a fist over his heart and shunshined from the hospital back towards his team's barracks.
Sighing once again and giving a small smile to the space his possibly best operative had just left for a moment before he straightened his Hokage robes and controlled his features before walking towards Naruto's room. Five minutes of searching found the Hokage reaching a room in the far reaches of the hospital. Cursing in his mind that the boy had likely been placed in this room to keep him separated from the rest of the 'normal and upstanding' patients. Hiruzen made a note to visit the hospital supervisors to remind them just who was really in charge of this village, and a refresher on the meaning of their Hippocratic oath. Opening the door to the room, Hiruzen was once again struck with anger at the condition that his charge was in. Bandages covered the majority of his body, and all four of his limbs were in casts. Walking up to his bed and sitting by the boy's side Hiruzen reached to brush the blonds' hair only to flinch back from the guilt.
After seeing how hard Naruto had been studying and preparing himself for his time at the academy, Hiruzen had believed that the teachers and students would accept someone that so obviously wanted to learn. Though by the look of the boy and the reports he had been receiving from the academy it was obvious that the elderly leader had misjudged his subordinates. Hiruzen could only hope that Naruto would forgive him for not being there, and maybe explain why he had not come to him with his troubles. The Hokage sat there for another hour and a half before getting ready to leave so he could be rested for his meetings with the councils tomorrow. Before he reached the door Hiruzen heard a groaning behind him, turning quickly the Kage was surprised to see Naruto seemed to be waking up. Rushing to his side Hiruzen spoke in a quiet and comforting tone.
"Naruto-kun, how are you? I'm sorry I haven't been able to see you as of late." Seeing Naruto's eyes finally come into focus the boy managed a small smile and responded. "It's ok Jiji, I know that your secretary said you were very busy, so you were never able to see me. All that matters is you're here now-" At this his eyes gained a glint in them, and his smile turned into a frown. "-Jiji, I need to tell you about what has been happening in my classes at the academy…" and tell he did Hiruzen could only sit and feel disappointed and furious at what had been happening behind his back. To hear that Naruto was being sabotaged by his teachers and that Hiruzen hadn't known about it because of the machinations of his own staff. The only silver lining in this whole debacle was the help Naruto received from the library staff, though to hear from the boy that the staff was being threatened by the Civilian Council was finally the last straw for the old man.
At the end of Naruto's tale Hiruzen went to the boy's side and placed his hand on the blonds' head and spoke to him in a kind and reassuring tone. "Naruto I promise I will work to ensure that everything that has happened to you tonight and what the academy has done will never happen again. Now please rest you should be recovered enough to leave by the end of the week." Hiruzen could only smile at the pout the boy was giving him at being told that he would have to stay at the hospital for an extended time, short as it may be. Getting an agreement from Naruto Hiruzen wished him a quick recovery and turned to leave the room. Seeing that Neko was standing guard by Naruto's room, Hiruzen nodded to her and left the hospital, his 'Will of Fire' ignited and ready to tear a certain group of bigots and a bandaged war hawk a new asshole during the next meeting.
-Line Break-
The Hokage made good on his word, after being released from the hospital Naruto noticed that he was no longer being overtly sabotaged at the academy anymore. His previous teacher had supposedly been reassigned to border patrols indefinitely. His combat instructors had been demoted to Genin for the next five years at least and were conscripted to the worst D-rank missions. For the next four years Naruto had never been able to secure a very high ranking in the class due to his short stature and the now subtle sabotage the teachers began to employ. Naruto had only been attacked two more times in the years since he had turned five, both times were again on his birthdays when he turned seven and eight specifically. Every time without fail his ANBU detail would conveniently be sent on high rank missions that no one else could complete. Then Naruto would find a situation that would force him from the safety of his apartment. Though both the beatings had been bad, neither had been as bad as the first he had… until the night of his ninth birthday.
Flashback no Jutsu Kai!
Once again things had gone pear-shaped on Naruto's birthday, Inu's team had been sent out on a S-rank mission the week before to the Land of Snow on a follow up to a situation that had occurred when Inu had first joined the ANBU. The only member to stay behind was Weasel, but due to rising tensions in his clan Weasel had been sent on a separate mission by the Elders behind the Sandime's back. Hiruzen was being locked up with a surplus of paperwork and back-to-back meetings with both the Civilian and Shinobi Councils. Finally Naruto was kept back after classes were over due to another student blaming him for some inane reason even though the young boy had been nowhere near the incident. Of course this didn't matter to the teachers since it gave them all the excuse necessary to set some things in motion for that nights 'festivities.' Naruto uneasy with the glint in the sensei's eyes only kept his head down and didn't bother disputing the punishment in which he had to clean the entire classroom by himself.
By the time Naruto had finished his cleaning he was worried, the sun was already setting, and he could hear the sounds of the Kyūbi Festival in the distance. Trying to keep to the lengthening shadows and darkened alleyways, Naruto moved as fast as he could to try and make it back to his apartment. This turned out to be a failed endeavor as every way he attempted to go he was almost seen by multiple mobs. Unfortunately the last mob included some of the academy teachers as well as some intoxicated Genin and Chunin. Catching sight of the Demon Brat the shinobi called him out to the others in the mob and began their chase, much to Naruto's dread. The mob chased the boy for the next two hours all over the village, their numbers constantly growing at a horrifying pace. What had originally around thirty civilians and less than ten shinobi now grown to over two hundred civilians and at least twenty shinobi of various ranks if the flack jackets he could see were anything to go by. By the time that he started to tire Naruto noticed that he had made it to one of the training grounds.
The panicking boy only had a few moments to stare at the large trees, fence and the sign reading number forty-four on the chain-link before a sudden pain shot up his shoulder. Looking back at the source of the pain, Naruto was shocked and worried to find a kunai knife sticking from his shoulder. Deciding to take his chances rather than stick around for the mob to catch up, Naruto used his chakra to enhance his legs and jump over the fence. Less than thirty seconds later the main mass of the mob finally reached the place the blond had been previously. Before the civilians could continue their chase the Chunin in the crowd stopped them, telling the group that the Demon had gone into the 'Forest of Death.' A training ground filled with dangers ranging from giant animals to venomous and poisonous plants and known to kill even experienced Jonin in certain areas of the forest. The group looked around and in a moment began to cheer and exclaim that they had finally avenged their loved ones and the honorable Yondaime Hokage, the group then turned around and began to return to the Festival to celebrate.
-Line Break-
Naruto knew it was a mistake almost immediately after he had entered the forest. He had not even been in the forest for more than five minutes before he had to dodge a group of giant white tigers that had followed his blood's scent. Knowing that he stood no chance Naruto circulated his chakra through his body to reinvigorate it and slow the bleeding from his shoulder still impaled by the kunai. Seeing the small morsal run further into the forest the tigers immediately gave chase looking forward to a nice snack for their cubs. Dodging through the underbrush and using the large trees as springboards to change direction Naruto had been able to keep ahead of the tigers for a time but unfortunately even for his giant stamina, he began to run low on chakra and tire out. Just before running out of energy his foot caught on a large tree root and he fell forward inadvertently dodging a large paw strike from the lead tiger.
Expecting to hit the ground, Naruto could only feel air as he looked forward and began to scream as he fell down a dark chasm. Panicking at the fall Naruto couldn't think of anything to save him having never mastered the surface walking technique that he had read about after he had mastered the leaf spinning exercise. The panic began to drain from Naruto as he lost hope knowing that no one was going to save him now. At this realization Naruto's life began to flash past his eyes, both the good and the bad, but in a sudden flash a memory suddenly flashed in his mind.
-Flash Back-
Blinking his eyes the baby looks up opening his eyes for the first time after a warm substance had dripped onto his body. As his eyes focused he sees a beautiful red-haired woman with soft round features and amethyst eyes that seemed to be full of sadness. Standing behind the woman was a tall man with spikey blond hair and an angular face with the brightest cerulean blue eyes. Both of the people in front of him had struggling looks on their faces and blood leaking from their lips. It was only then the baby noticed the large object that was sticking through their torso, following the object upwards baby Naruto found himself looking into the furious eyes of a giant nine tailed fox surrounded in glowing golden chains that lead to the woman's back.
Hearing a sudden cough of pain, Naruto's focus was brought back to the two in front of him as the woman began to speak to him. "Naruto… don't be a picky eater, just eat a lot so you grow big and strong. *ugh* Make sure you bathe every day and stay warm too… also don't stay up to late and get plenty of sleep… D-don't forget to make friends as well… You don't need a ton of them, okay? Just a few is fine as long as their ones you can really trust… *ungh* Well, your mom wasn't very good at this but study hard and learn your ninjutsu. Always remember everyone is good at some things and not so good at others… so even if something doesn't go well… don't get depressed okay? When you're at the academy respect your teachers and the upper classmen." Suddenly the woman, who he now knew was his mother, seemed to realize something before continuing.
"Oh… now this is important, regarding the three prohibitions of the shinobi; be extra careful about lending and borrowing money, take your pay put it in a savings account, No alcohol… not until you're of age. To much sake is bad for you, so drink in moderation… and another prohibition is women… remember I am one, so I don't know to much about it… *UGH* keep in mind that this world is made of men and women and so at some point you'll notice girls and that's normal… just be careful and don't fall for the bad ones!!! Just go out and find one that's like me… *ugh* that reminds me, speaking of the three prohibitions you should be wary of Jiraiya sensei ya'know…" *sniff* *sniff* Tears were now falling from his mother's eyes as she lost her composure the man behind her biting his lip to keep his tears in as well. Finding the strength to continue his mother spoke again.
"Naruto, I'm sorry to say there will be plenty of hardships and painful times ahead… just be true to yourself… make sure to have dreams… and the confidence to make those dreams come true… *sob* oh Naruto there is so much… so much more… there are so many things I wish to pass on to you… *sob* so much more I want to tell you… I wish I could stay with you longer… I love you!" Wiping her tears his mother looked back at the man behind her and spoke again. "Minato, I am so sorry I used up all your time-" The blond man, Minato, just shook his head and spoke, "No, it's alright… Naruto my words to you… well I guess your motor-mouth of a mother said it all." Smiling down at the baby the man that Naruto could only think of as his father then preformed a set of hand seals before calling out "SEALING ART: EIGHT-TRIGRAMS SEAL!!!" Suddenly there was a bright flash and a stinging pain on the baby's navel area and when the light faded the giant fox was gone and Naruto's parents fell to either side of the alter he laid on no longer moving.
Not understanding what had just happened the baby Naruto began to cry not only from the stinging pain from his navel but the instinctual knowledge that his mother and father had both just passed from the world leaving him to face the future alone.
-Flash Back End-
Naruto's eyes suddenly shot open, tears leaking at finally seeing his parents even if it was only in their last moments and hearing their last words lit a fire of determination in the boy. A feeling suddenly began to rise in his chakra core and expanded outwards through his chakra pathways. Naruto could feel his chakra become denser and more malleable, as well as becoming easier to control. An instinct pushed the young Uzumaki to fling his arms to either side, golden chains sprang from his back, six in all with bladed tips slammed into the wall of the chasm and sinking deeply into the walls slowing the blonds decent. As he finally slowed to a stop Naruto looked down to find much to his surprise and fear that the floor was only less than twenty feet from him.
Letting out a shaky breath, Naruto followed his instinct again pushing his chakra to the chains coming from his back to lengthen the chain, until he had his feet planted on the ground. With merely a thought the chains were pulled from the rockface and retracted into the boy's back replacing the chakra used to make them. Holding his hand out Naruto concentrated on the feeling he felt at the moment he remembered his parents; a glowing chain began to emerge from the palm of his hand and circle around his hand like a snake moving at his whim. Amazed at the ability he had seemingly inherited from his mother; Naruto remembered his situation with a slight shock. Looking around couldn't find anything at first until he noticed a cave opening about thirty feet from him leading underground.
Realizing that this could be his only way to return back to the surface unless he wanted to climb back up to the crazy forest full of giant carnivores. Using his chain as a light source, Naruto walked forward. As he followed the path it began to widen and expand changing from rough cave walls to carved hallways. After following the path for an hour Naruto came to something he would have never expected. Standing in front of him now stood what appeared to be an ancient temple; images of strange creatures, all that shared three similarities; all had black bodies with bone white spikes and masks, and red eyes. Following the hallway of the temple marveling at the artwork on the walls Naruto eventually reached what looked to be an altar. To either side of the altar were two statues of dragons, the one on the left was golden in color with a serpent-like body and deer antlers on its head, the one on the right was its opposite. Its head resembled the creatures on the walls in its skull like appearance. Its body was thicker lacking the serpent look of the other and had a pair of large wings spread from its shoulders. Standing behind the alter was one more image, the image was in the shape of a woman pale white skin with cracks of black along her body, white hair done up in elaborate braids and eyes of the darkest ruby sitting in pools of darkness.
Finally, pulling his attention from the carvings, Naruto looked at the item sitting on the altar only to be shocked. Sitting on the altar was a large black scroll with lines of blood red tracing through the black and capped with bone white. Walking up to the scroll almost in a trance, Naruto reached forward with his right hand. This was not wise considering that his right side was the one that had been injured by the kunai leaving a trail of blood down the boy's arm and in his palm. Just as the bloody palm made contact with the scroll it began to glow a dark crimson red. Shocked at this Naruto tried to pull his hand back, only to see that his hand was stuck to the scroll. Seeing that he was trapped Naruto only had a moment before the light engulfed him to say a few words.
"OH SHIT!!!"
-Line Break-
Waking up Naruto felt like crap, his body was sore like he had fallen asleep on a bed of boulders and fell off. His discomfort was quickly forgotten as he remembered what had happened to him after touching the weird scroll. Realizing how stupid it was to just go up and touch a random scroll in an obviously ancient ruin, it took all his self-control for Naruto to not slap himself at his stupidity. 'Damn it Naruto what have you done now, what kind of baka just goes and touches a random scroll… ugh now where the hell am I?' Looking around Naruto was confused, he seemed to be on some kind of empty plane dotted with large boulders and what looked to be pools of black… something. Turning around to see the rest of the area Naruto was met with a major shock. Standing in front of him was a large castle surrounded by dark violet crystals but rising behind the large building was what looked to be the moon… but unlike the moon he remembered this moon was shattered. Naruto had only one thought at this sight. 'Where the HELL AM I!!!'
