On April 15th, Luke was paired with Brandy for a science project. Today was also the play tryouts. But those were after school.
"You have Brandy? Ouch…" Garrett says.
Luke sneered angrily and excused himself.
Brandy frowned. He wanted to work with Luke, and possibly be friends with him. But as popular as Luke was, it would be near impossible. But Brandy had to try.
Lynn sighed as there was a cheer competition at the end of the month. She needed to work hard.
Brandy looks for Luke at lunch, but lots of fans wanted autographs. Luke happily signed them, then he approached Brandy.
"Um…hi." Brandy says.
"Well, hello! I assume you know who I am." Luke says, smiling.
Brandy nods.
"What brings you to me today?" Luke asked. "You can tell me."
"Maybe we could try and start the project." Brandy says.
"Okay. But I don't accept failure." Luke says. "If I get a failing grade on this, my reputation as a straight A student will be tarnished and I will blame you."
"Fair enough." Brandy says.
After school, Brandy goes to tryouts for the play.
"Which part are you trying out for?" Luke asked.
Brandy thinks. He wanted the main role or something that would help him cash in as comedy relief.
Luke was trying out for the role of Skimbleshanks. Lucy came to watch.
Luke does his tryout, smiling and commanding the stage. The drama teacher clapped for Luke, who smiled before walking offstage.
Brandy went on stage to do his tryout. He was actually funny and got the part of Mungojerrie right then and there, without a pinch of hesitation.
Luke heads off as Lucy was happy for him.
The next day, the roles list was posted by the main office. Brandy saw his name next to Mungojerrie, of course. He smiled.
Luke looked for his name. But he didn't see it on the list. He instead saw Remy's name next to the role of Skimbleshanks and was crushed. He walked off, looking down.
Brandy tries to comfort him. Luke sniffed.
Things weren't much better in class. Everyone except Garrett was congratulating Remy and Brandy for getting parts in the play. Luke just sobbed quietly.
At lunch time, Chandler tripped Brandy down the stairs.
Luke barely ate anything as he still felt upset. Luke's friends felt concerned for him. Especially Garrett.
Luke couldn't believe that he didn't get a part in the final play of the school year. He hadn't gotten parts in past school plays, either, so this made him feel very sad.
Brandy offers Luke his food. Luke sniffs and eats some of it. He then put his head on the table and cried as Garrett comforted him.
After school that day, Luke went home with Garrett next to him. He didn't want to face his siblings asking him about the cast list.
Brandy came. "What about the project?" He asked.
"Project?" Lisa asked, overhearing.
"You know better. Luke can help himself." Lori says, knowing Lisa had a knack for spoiling Luke when he did his projects.
"Oh, fine! Let's do the project. Then I want. To be. ALONE!" Luke hissed.
Brandy was startled and shaken. He was easy to scare.
"Luke has a new friend?" Lana asked.
Luke and Brandy spend time on the project. Then Luke goes to be alone.
"My mom has magic portals." Brandy says off screen.
"Okay, go home, you poor unpopular kid." Lola says, pushing him out. Brandy takes his leave. Sadly, he really had no friends or no motivation in life.
Luke was sobbing in his room.
"Luke, what's wrong?" Lori asked.
"Didn't you get a-" Lola started to ask, but saw that Luke just started crying harder.
"He didn't get a part in the final play of the school year." Lucy says.
The siblings hugged him.
"Luke, maybe we can get you in that play." Luan says.
"I got an idea. Once there was a kid who got sick and had to be replaced." Lola says.
"I suggest we explain why Luke deserves a role." Lisa says.
"Go." Lori says to the siblings.
Luke just continues to cry and cry as Lori calls the director.
Luke then leaves the house.
"Luke!" Lynn says, running up to him. "You can't keep running from your problems. You have to fight for your dreams!" Lynn says.
"They like Remy more!" Luke hissed. "They chose him!"
"Let's talk to the principal." Lola says as they arrive at the middle school.
"Ahem!" Lola coughed as the teachers looked at her.
"What are you waiting for? A kiss on the cheek? Out!" Lola says, pointing at the door as they run.
Lincoln came in, wearing his convincing suit.
"Hello, my name is Lincoln Huntington. And here are 567 reasons why Luke should be in this play." Lincoln says.
-30 minutes later-
"I see your point." the principal says.
"He also won ANH, he's a celebrity, you can sell tickets, and you can be rich. He could put this school on the map!" Lola says. "Plus, he's better than those other excuses for actors."
Outside the office, Luke just couldn't take it anymore.
The principal came out. "Luke, you're in." she says.
"Really?" Lucy asked.
She nods as the siblings squealed, carrying Luke out of the school. "Oh, and I'm kinda Luke's agent, so I'm taking 30% of that profit" Lola says and leaves.
The next day in school, Luke and Brandy work on the science project. The science teacher smiles at this and gives them a good grade on it.
"An A+...I've never gotten a grade that good before." Brandy says.
"Nice job, Luke!" Garrett says. Luke smiles at his friend.
