From Big Brother to Father 3

It's been a long and time consuming week for Lincoln, as he had to divide his time from taking care of his sisters, finalizing some paperwork, and overall maintaining the house.

But it's not going to end there as today was Friday as he had to step out and greet his future employee's at the new S-Mart that was going to open in the next few weeks.

So after calling in a babysitter well in advance to come in and take care of Lily from the morning to half the afternoon, Lincoln was now pulling into the new parking lot of the S-Mart where he was greeted by his old boss and the regional manager.

"Ash, it's good to see you sir" said Lincoln, "Good to see you too buddy" said Ash as both men shook their hands.

"By the way Lincoln, this pencil pusher here if Eric Gallagher, pencil pusher meet the most second handsome man to grace the state of Michigan" said Ash, "Right Mr. Williams" said Eric with an annoyed look as he turned to face Lincoln.

"Mr. Loud, it's a pleasure to meet you, I'm the regional manager, and I'm here to observe you and help set you up before we greet our new employee's" said Eric.

"Pleasure to meet you sir, and thanks again for hooking me up with this position" said Lincoln, "Yes, well you were highly recommended by Mr. Williams here, so we thought it be best if we observe you as Mr. Williams rarely recommends anyone but himself" said Eric.

"Come on point dexter, you're scaring the kid, he's good guy and a family man, what more do you want from this kid, a damn letter of recommendation from the president" said Ash.

"Mr. Williams would you please compose yourself in a more fitting manner" said Eric, "Bite me nerd. Now shut up, hand the kid the keys, and let's get going, daddy has a hot date later back home" said Ash.

"I swear if you weren't protected by seniority" grumbled Eric as he handed Lincoln his set of keys.

"Here you go Mr. Loud, now if you may" said Eric as the trio went inside to inspect the store of everything it has to offer, and being an S-Mart here in Michigan, it's got everything, electronics, home appliances, toys, guns, an adult only section, carpentry and construction supplies, etc.

"This here is your store, you are responsible for it and I expect you to give it your all, your office is in the back passed the break room, where you'll be carrying spare name tags and vests for your employees, along with the numbers to HQ, regional, and sister stores alike" listed off Eric.

"Any questions" asked Eric, "Yeah I got a question, where's the can, I gotta see a man about putting Fat Albert in a can" said Ash, "Back of the store in the left corner".

"I swear, this is the one time it feels like I'm working a thankless job" said Eric as Lincoln laughs nervously before proceeding to set up a table to greet his new employees with snacks being provided.

When the hour finally came to meet the new employees, Lincoln was instructed to be professional, but also warming.

"Welcome everyone, thank you all for coming in today, my name is Lincoln Loud, and I'll be your guys' store General Manager to the future Royal Woods S-Mart, and you guys all have the pleasure of being the store's pioneering employee's to this location" said Lincoln.

"Now let's go around and introduce ourselves, get to know each other and to make it interesting share one interesting fact about you" said Lincoln, "Hello there, my name is Breck Williams, and I'm married to the most emo man on the planet" said Breck.

"All right, how about you ma'am" said Lincoln, "My name is Deb Kolko, and I'm originally from California" said Deb.

"West coast, amiright. How about you sir" asked Lincoln, "Call me Todd Wayside, and well, I'm a people pleaser" Todd said sheepishly.

"Don't be a try hard now, and finally… Bobby?" Lincoln said awkwardly, "Hey everyone, my name is Bobby Santiago, and I'm actually dating our bosses younger sister" said Bobby almost hesitantly as there was chatter to the small gang of employees.

"All true, but now that I've got your names, how about we take turns to strut your guys' stuff to the positions you've applied for, starting with Breck. Everyone else, feel free to socialize and please help yourselves to some snacks" said Lincoln as he lead the new employee with him.

"All right Breck, you've applied as a store associate" said Lincoln reading her file as Breck nodded along.

"Sweet, let's start right here in aisle 12" said Lincoln as it was toy aisle, with some of the items sticking out unevenly.

"For the majority of your responsibilities is to go around check the store aisles where you have to properly face the store, you know what facing the store means" asked Lincoln.

"Of course sir" said Breck, "All right, well go and show me how it's done" said Lincoln as Breck wasted no time in organizing the aisle by properly facing and putting the toys away in their respective spot.

"Great job, only other thing you need to do is manage the cash register, which we'll do in a moment and if you were to come across an item that you say was damaged or broken, please grab it, and bring it to the back and mark it with a red sticker here that you'll be supplied with later on, if it's an item previously returned and opened label it with a yellow sticker" instructed Lincoln.

"Can do boss" said Breck "Ok, seems I've got nothing left to teach you, let's finish things off at the cash register and we'll tag you out" said Lincoln.

Once they were done with Breck's training, it was time for Lincoln to deal with Deb as he lead her to the firearm section.

"So Deb, you were applying to be stationed for our firearm seller" said Lincoln, "Yes sir, I've even brought in a copy of not only my firearm vendor license to firearms and firearm safety certificate and other handlings on me" said Deb as she introduced all the paperwork needed for the position.

"Wow, that is… great, perfect makes the hiring process for the both of us easy, do you mind if I hold onto this to make some copies for legal purposes" asked Lincoln.

"Not at all sir" said Deb as the 2 made it to the firearm counter.

"Ok, now that I know you're verified to deal with firearms, I want to hear your sales pitch and knowledge to the test" said Lincoln as they began to act out a classic scene.

"Excuse me miss, I am going on a hunting trip this weekend, and I would like to buy a gun before heading out" said Lincoln, "Of course sir, what exactly are you planning to go hunting for" asked Deb.

"I plan to go hunting for some medium to large game, I hear boar is in season" said Lincoln, "Might I suggest this 12 gauge double barrel Remington, it's made of a walnut wood stock, cobalt blue steel, and comes with a hair trigger" said Deb.

"Interesting, what else can you tell me about this gun" asked Lincoln, "Besides it being made in Grand Rapids, Michigan, it has a retail price $109.95. because when shopping here at S-Mart, you're shopping smart" said Deb.

"Way to throw in the company motto" said Lincoln, "I aim to please sir" said Deb as they shared not only a laugh, but secured Deb's position for the job.

"Todd, come here buddy" said Lincoln as the young adult followed him.

"Yes sir" said Todd as he caught up with Lincoln, "Good to see you, now according to your application you're applying to work in our pharmacy department" said Lincoln.

"Yessir, I'm actually going to the local community college to get my degree as an orthodontist" said Todd, "You're planning to be a dentist" asked Lincoln.

"Yessir" said Todd, "Good for you man, fun fact my mom actually worked as a dental assistant for many years before pursuing her dream as a writer" said Lincoln.

"That's awesome sir, how is she doing" asked Todd naively, "She's… working for the local newspaper as a publicist now" lied Lincoln, not because the truth bothered him, but rather because he didn't want his new employee to feel uncomfortable.

"Oh before we move on, do you got your pharmacy handlers card" asked Lincoln, "Yes, I have it right and I've also printed out a copy for you" said Todd.

"Taking initiative, I like it" said Lincoln as the 2 would repeat the process they did with Deb, until it was time to call in Bobby.

"Bobby" Lincoln said in a fey intimidating tone, "Loud" said Bobby returning the gesture before both cracked a smile.

"Come with me man, let's get this interview over with" said Lincoln, "Right away sir" said Bobby.

"No need to be formal with me, granted treat me with respect, but you know" said Lincoln, "Of course Lincoln" said Bobby.

"Sweet, now I've read your application and you wanted to work in the electronic section" said Lincoln, "Yeah, that's right" said Bobby.

"Ok, but I've actually read through your whole application and your job history" said Lincoln, "Yes, is everything alright" asked Bobby.

"Quite the contrary, it's amazing as to not only how many jobs you had, but the experience, and I've actually called more than half your employers myself and got nothing but praise from you" said Lincoln.

"In fact, I'd go as far as to say you're more than over qualified for the position you're applying for" said Lincoln, "Oh, well thanks Lincoln" said Bobby as the 2 were finally at the electronics aisle.

"Gonna be honest with you, if you ever want to look for a job to not only take serious, with growth and a future, and even though this paints a picture of favoritism and nepotism, I can easily offer you a promotion" said Lincoln.

"A promotion, like supervisor" asked Bobby, "Supervisor with a high chance of being promoted to even assistant manager" said Lincoln.

"Wow, I don't know what to say" said Bobby, "Just think about kid, I know you want to also have time to spare to hang with Lori, which you still can, but you know think about your future also" said Lincoln.

"I will seriously consider it sir" said Bobby before the duo went about some basic training before it was time to wrap things up and hand everyone their vest, nametags, and the return date for them to start their first day.

"Phew, that was a hassle" said Lincoln as he wiped the sweat off his brow, "You did a good job today Mr. Loud" said Eric.

"I hope so, I'd really hate to lose this job now" said Lincoln, "Fear not sir, you've guaranteed not only your position, but your future here with us at S-Mart" said Eric, "Told you the kid was good, also Linc congrats sir, I'll let you know if and when I decide to move into town" said Ash.

"I'll have a permanent reservation just for you" said Lincoln, "My man, well I've got to go and get ready, me and my pal woody here have a date" said Ash as he lifted his wooden hand to Lincoln.

"Good luck Ash" said Lincoln, "Thank you, also I told you, you had nothing to worry about you virgin office gopher" said Ash to Eric, "I'm not a virgin, I had sex for the first time 5 years ago" Eric said defensively.

"I didn't hear you mention something recently though" Ash said with a smug smile as Lincoln walked the 2 out as he made one final clean up, before having to pick up his sisters.

Elsewhere

Lori wasn't having a good day, at least on the golf course as she's had the worst score so far this year during training.

"Sigh, just… let it go Lori" Lori told herself as she dragged herself to the school parking lot where she spotted Carol driving off, with a smile on her face for wiping the floor with Lori without even trying.

"Lori, there you" called Leni, "Hey Leni, didn't you leave when the final bell rang" asked Lori.

"I was going to, but Linky said he'd pick us both up after school so I decided to wait for you" said Leni, "That's nice of you Leni, though speaking of which, where is Lincoln" asked Lori as if on cue, Lincoln came rolling in as he parked the new family van.

"Hey girls, how was school today" asked Lincoln, "It was good, for the most part" said Lori.

"Something wrong" asked Lincoln, "it's nothing, just having a bad day on the golf course is all" admitted Lori.

"I see, well, just know that I'm always here to hear you guys out" said Lincoln, "I know" said Lori with a curt smile as Lincoln helped carry her duffle bag and golf clubs to the back.

As the siblings were continuing to chat, they didn't realize Carol came back to the parking lot, because she forgot her phone, but as she drove through the parking lot, she notice Lincoln, Lori and Leni's big brother who was not only much older, but much more handsome since the last time she saw him.

No way, that can't be Lincoln, thought Carol as she can't forget about the kinder older boy who'd always be there to show Lori compassion after she topped her, much less the white hair.

Being dumbfounded and tongue tied Carol only snapped from her stupor when she nearly crashed her vehicle into the fence.

Saving herself from getting into a wreck, Carol savor the last fleeting moments she could stare at Lincoln before he hopped back in the family van and drove off.

I'd hate to see him go, but I love seeing him move, thought Carol as she was gonna need a minute to compose herself again.

Later

It was dinner time and today the family was eating chicken nuggets and talked about their day.

"… In hindsight the need to add a coin slot, leading to the self destruction of my provisions dispensary, was probably not my brightest achievement in addition to my most recent experiment" said Lisa.

"Just glad the school didn't call me, much less called homeland security" sighed Lincoln, "Better than being me, because I've been permabenched for the rest of the season and can only support my team on the side lines, they've got their butts kicked from here to Timbuktu" said Lynn as she tossed a nugget into their mouths again.

"Well at least you guys weren't me, I just didn't had my head straight today and performed the worst this year in an all time new record in golf" pouted Lori.

"Girls, please calm down, dwelling on the subject and be angry ain't gonna improve your situation, much less your lives. Lisa if you want I can revise your inventions and point out any of the potential flaws and hazards it might pose, Lynn thank you for keeping you promise in behaving yourself, Lori we'll talk later on, but I do want to ask, why didn't you told me Bobby was trying to apply at the new S-Mart" said Lincoln.

"That I didn't know myself" said Lori, "Ok then, well I thought you should know that Bobby is actually an excellent employee before we even open, and well I talked to him to consider him getting a promotion" said Lincoln.

"Wow, sure I can probably talk to Bobby about that at a later time" said Lori, "Speaking of work, how was it big bro" asked Luna.

"You know, making a good impression in front of the regional manager, setting shop and training the young blood, and figuring out everyone's schedule and payroll, you know standard stuff" said Lincoln.

"Which actually reminds me, any of you guys free tomorrow, I'm gonna need some help in setting up an interview with potential babysitters for Lily while I'm at work" said Lincoln.

"Sorry Lincy, but I've got to go to my part time job tomorrow" said Leni, "I've got band practice in the afternoons" said Luna, "I'm booked with back to back birthdays this weekend" said Luan, "I've got a scheduled spa treatment, followed by gymnastics, and followed by my dance class at the Argentinian dance school" said Lola, "I'm already committed to check on my animal friends in nature" said Lana, "I'm joining my friends for a séance in the local cemetery" said Lucy.

Hearing that more than half his sisters were busy, the ones that were left are his only hope.

"I've got nothing that requires my immediate attention" said Lisa, "I've got nothing but self-training" said Lynn, "I've got an evening date with Bobby so we're good" said Lori.

"All right, thanks to those that will be able to help me, also let me know in advance if anyone needs to be picked up or dropped off" said Lincoln.

Soon the house continued on to it's peaceful chaos for the time being before Lincoln found time to finally have a one on one with Lori.

"Lori, mind meeting me in my bedroom" said Lincoln, "Fine" said Lori as she went into her brothers room and closed the door behind her.

"What do you want Lincoln" asked Lori, "Nothing, just want to talk and pick your brains is all" said Lincoln.

"When did you become Lisa" scoffed Lori, "Lori, please just tell me what's egging you" asked Lincoln.

"Sigh, I was in the library all right, I was supposed to do a writing assignment for things that have changed and stayed the same for the school, and well I came across the yearbook when mom was attending, and well I got sucked in and thought of how mom is never gonna see me or our sisters graduate, and the only way we can ever know and ask about her past is by looking at old photos, and the more I thought of it, the more I became distracted" said Lori.

Wrapping an arm around his sisters shoulder, Lori could only rest on Lincoln as he began to collect his words.

"I'm sorry that you and our sisters are gonna have to live with that, truly I am sorry, and I wish there was something I can do to change that" said Lincoln.

"I know, it's stupid really in retrospect, but I don't know, I guess it was one of those milestones you'd never appreciate or you'd think would feel empty when the ensuing time comes" said Lori.

"It's not stupid, and I assure you, that I along with pop-pop, aunt ruth, and grandpa Leo will be there at attendance, maybe even uncle Matt, even if he is a bit of a butt" said Lincoln.

"Hehe, thanks Lincoln" said Lori as she finally cracked a smile, "Like I said I am here for you guys, you're my responsibility and I'm never gonna let you or the girls feel heartache again you hear" said Lincoln.

"I hear" said Lori, "Good, now you can run along I've got only an hour to myself and I'd rather spend it watching anime" said Lincoln as he bid a good night to Lori as he wanted to detox before the very hectic weekend he was expecting.

The Next Morning

After making sure his sisters were fed and given a small allowance for the day, and from dropping Luan off at the first birthday she had that morning, Lincoln was now preparing to conduct a short interview on some potential babysitters.

"So what makes you qualified for the job" asked Lincoln, "Oh you know, there's this new board I want to buy, but my parents cut me off my allowance after I accidentally set our garage on fire when I was attempting to ollie off it with rocket skates, but know worries, I prioritize safety, which is while I always wear a helmet" said applicant number.

You probably wear that helmet for another reason, thought Lincoln with a grimace as he turned to his sisters as they all shook their head no.

"Hey thanks for applying guy, I'll be sure to call you once I've reviewed everyone else" said Lincoln with a forced smile, "All right, talk to you later" said applicant one as applicant 2 stepped forward.

"Ok, so what makes you qualified for this job" asked Lincoln, "Huh, oh yeah, my parents said I need to learn some responsibility and they say the best way to learn it is by working, so I figured why not do an easy job that requires little to no maintenance" said applicant 2.

"Easy huh? Exactly how do you think this were to play out if you got the job and I left you in charge of Lily, what would you do" asked Lincoln, "You know, watch a couple of music, drink a few cans of soda, and I don't know put her time out if she's acts bad" said applicant in an aloof manner.

"Yeah, this… this isn't gonna work, so you can go now" said Lincoln bluntly, "Whatever" said applicant 2 as applicant 3 finally came in.

"Well I be, if it ain't the old sourpuss himself, Mr. Grouse, it's been a while sir" said Lincoln, "I'll say Loud, you're older, and you've seem to got you act straight for the most part" said Mr. Grouse.

"I'll consider that a compliment, though I'm curious as to your motivation behind wanting to babysit Lily" asked Lincoln, "I know we haven't been all that there neighborly, and I've been meaning to send my regards to the loss of your parents for a while now, truly I am sorry" said Mr. Grouse.

"Thanks, it means a lot" said Lincoln, "You're welcome, so I figured once I heard about this ruckus of you wanting a babysitter for the little one, I figured why not it's the neighbor thing to do, plus chances are you won't find anyone sane to look after the 24/7 circus you run" said Mr. Grouse.

"You'd be willing to do that" asked Lincoln, "Of course, I expect a good pay what with your dad not being around to pay me with his famous lasagna, less of course you or your siblings know how to make it, and we can negotiate a better deal" said Mr. Grouse.

"How about, 200 bucks a week, and if you decide to do your shopping over at the new S-Mart I'll give you a 30% discount" said Lincoln, "30% huh, quite the generous offer, but can you back that up without any trouble" asked Mr. Grouse.

"I can, I am the store manager" said Lincoln, "Then we got ourselves a deal" said Mr. Grouse.

"That's great, I won't be needing your services for another week, that's when I start working, I'll be going in at 5:20, so my sisters will be home to hand Lily off to you, I should be coming back home around 2:30 give or take, and I'll be sure to call you if I have to stay in longer for whatever reason" Lincoln.

"Sounds fair, all right Loud, I'll be seeing you around" said Mr. Grouse as the Loud siblings waved him off.

"Ok, that is one less thing to worry about" sighed Lincoln, "Agreed brother and guardian unit, if you want we can stick around and turn the remaining applicants away, you deserve some time to yourself" said Lisa.

"What, no I'm fine" said Lincoln, "Hey, you might be our rock, captain, and MVP bro, but if there's anything I've learned in sports it's that you got to learn to sit down and take a break and be ready when the team needs you" said Lynn.

"She's right Lincoln, we can't have you burn out on us yet" said Lori, "Sigh, all right girls, I get the memo" said Lincoln as he went back inside the house and propped his feet up on the couch, before he was accompanied by who else but R3DD13.

"Hey R3DD13, how's my number one assistant doing" asked Lincoln as the compact automaton made a few beeps.

"That's good to hear, did I get any missed calls or messages" asked Lincoln as R3DD13 handed the Bluetooth ear piece as Lincoln began to play back some messages.

"You have 2 missed messages. Hey Lincoln it's Pop-pop, just wanting to pop in and check up on you son. Give me a call and we can catch up soon enough. Beep. Hey Lincoln, it's me your buddy Pablo, I know your life had taken a drastic change since you know, you're parents accident, but just know that me, Kelly, and Dalton do think about you man. Maybe we can come down and get together and do something, if not that's totally cool too man, just take care and stay cool alright. Beep".

Feeling like he hasn't been able to catch up with the people from his old life after taking responsibility, Lincoln decided now was a best time to reconnect with some old friends and with his favorite grandfather.

Another chapter uploaded and posted, hope it's up to everyone's standards as this isn't going to be the last chapter I'll be making, but in case this goes on another years long hiatus it gives you all something to imagine till I come back and pick it up.

With that being said I'm thinking of adding another chapter or 2 on some old stories I've been meaning to do for while updating ones that require immediate priority.

As always if you liked it please be sure to fave and follow and leave me your guys' thoughts in the review section cause reading your feedback or just your 2 cents on the chapter is always welcomed and appreciated.
