Adrien trembled at the sight before him, falling to his knees as soon as the metal cover slid open revealing his mother unconscious behind a glass plate in some high tech looking tube. A part of him didn't want to believe it, he really didn't, but the proof was right in front of him. Right in front as well as behind as his father put a hand in a comforting gesture on his shoulder as a higher pitched voice said, "Are you serious?"

"Yes, Nooroo, I am. No more Hawkmoth." Gabriel sighed, "In fact, I'll return both miraculous to Ladybug and apologize for everything I've done."

"They will arrest you." Adrien said, clenching his teeth. What was he supposed to do? He hated Hawkmoth so much and fought so hard for so long to put an end to him and whatever scheme he had that needed both Ladybug's and his miraculous. Instead, it wasn't an even scheme, it was a desperate man trying to restore his family by whatever means necessary. To get the two miraculous as his father explained on the way down here to make a wish. To make it worse, it was his own father who did it all.

"I'll freely turn myself in as soon as I make sure you will be taken care of." Gabriel sighed.

"Master, nobody was killed and Ladybug always repaired all of the damage caused. Perhaps there is another way, such as claiming Hawkmoth was turned to ash once defeated." Nooroo suggested making Adrien clench his fist. Gabriel should pay for what he did, shouldn't he? It would mean losing his father though, which something made jim pause at the thought. He didn't want to lose his father, but what was he supposed to do.

"I can't ask Cat Noir and Ladybug to forgive me for what I've done, and the police will no doubt convict me of terrorism. It's what I did, and I deserve to pay for it." Gabriel sighed, squeezing Adrien's shoulder softly. "Besides, I need to find a way to contact them anyways."

"Don't do anything hasty, father." Adrien sighed, rubbing his eyes as he stood up. "I can contact them, just let me go talk to them and I'll see what I can do."

"No, I won't put you at risk like that." Gabriel said, his voice firm.

"I'm not going to be in any danger, but I also really don't know what to do." Adrien sighed as he shrugged his father's hand off his shoulder. "You have no idea the position you just put me in by telling me all of this."

"I wasn't trying to son, I was just trying to tell you everything because I plan on making sure everything is set up with the company if this doesn't destroy it, as well as making sure you would be cared for before turning myself in." Gabriel explained in a pained voice.

"I'll be bake in awhile, dad. Don't do anything until I get back." Adrien said as he hurried from the chamber and back up the hidden elevator.

"Do you think he is telling the truth?" Plagg asked as he showed himself in front of Adrien who looked like he was on the edge of losing it.

"I think so, Plagg." Adrien sighed, "What am I supposed to do?"

"Well, you can't make a wish, that's for certain." Plagg said, shaking his head.

"Why not?" Adrien asked.

"Because it all requires balance, so to heal your mom, someone else would have to take on whatever is wrong with her. And to make matters worse, it isn't as simple as changing a small thing or two. The wish would destroy the world and recreate it to the person's wish." Plagg explained.

"I was afraid there would be some kind of catch." Adrien sighed, "Nothing is ever that easy."

"So what are you going to do?" Plagg asked, a little worried for his holder.

"Talk to Ladybug about everything. I know something has been bothering her, and maybe with the promise of no more akumas she might go back to normal." Adrien said as Plagg hid in his shirt pocket as they headed up to his room. He needed to change and see if Ladybug would actually answer.

Marinette wasn't sure what possessed her to answer Cat Noir's call, but after a half hour of nonstop Tikki informing her of yet another one, the girl finally answered. She wasn't too happy as it disturbed her thoughts and the surprise at having a small spark of emotion deep inside that negative. When she bumped into Luka she felt it, a small ember that was still there despite her running away from the boy. It was probably the first positive feeling she truly had since the night she jumped and having Adrien ruin it really pissed her off. The only thing saving the boy from her tearing into him was the desperation in his voice and the claim that he could, that they could finally put a stop to Hawkmoth.

"Isn't it great Marinette?" Tikki asked, the kwami acting really excited. "You can finally go home if we can stop Hawkmoth for real."

"I don't have a home to return to." Marinette said softly, earning a sad look from her partner. "Did you forget, Tikki. What mama said? I'm no daughter of hers."

"Surely she didn't mean it, Marinette." Tikki tried to encourage, but the slight spark in the girl's eyes from earlier just seemed to die out once again.

"She did, Tikki. I always knew I was a bit of a disappointment to them. I never really got into cooking like that, I enjoy fashion much more." Marinette sighed, getting dressed in her more bulky clothes to go out in. "Anyways, lets not keep Adrien waiting. Tikki, spots on!"

It didn't take long for the two to reach the meeting point about the same time. Looking at the boy, Marinette could tell that something was really wrong. Something that almost made her heart go out to him as she may have lost any love and trust she had for the boy over Lila, but she still cared for him. How could she not after everything?

"Thank you for coming, milady." Cat Noir said softly, a few tears making their way down his cheeks.

"Are you okay, kitty?" Marinette asked, almost kicking herself. She didn't to give him false hope to them getting close once again. The whole setup wanted to make her cry and rage at the same time. Cat Noir loved Ladybug while Marinette loved Adrien. Perhaps if she let them reveal their identities to each other things could have been different. With the indifference he showed to her feelings though while wanting to protect Lila's so the girl didn't get akumatized, he effectively killed all feelings she had for the boy.

"No, no I'm not." Cat Noir choked out, running his clawed fingers through his hair as he started pacing. "I found out my mom is still alive, but in a magical coma!"

"Will she be okay?" Marinette asked, feeling bad for the boy as he shook his head.

"The doctors can't do anything for her, the only thing that can save her is by combining our miraculous and making a wish." Cat Noir sobbed out.

"I'm sorry, that is not an option." Marinette said, her eyes narrowing. If he was suggesting what she thought he was, she was going to be really pissed off.

"I know, Plagg told me about the consequences." Cat Noir said, "I would never sacrifice somebody else just to bring her back."

"Then what do you want to do?" Marinette asked, a sigh of relief escaping when she realized he wasn't about to become her enemy.

"I don't know, that's the thing! What do I do?" Cat Noir sobbed out as he dropped to his knees and reached up to hug her. She almost pushed him away, but he looked so broken.

"Is this about Hawkmoth?" Marinette asked.

"The only reason Hawkmoth became Hawkmoth was to save her. He was told that a threat would awaken our miraculous and he could make a wish if he got them to reset everything so nothing ever happened." Cat Noir sniffed, looking up at her with pleading eyes. She had no idea what he wanted or expected her to say or do. She was pretty sure she knew who it was.

"Hawkmoth is your father, isn't he Adrien?" Marinette asked, earning a startled gasp from the boy. Slowly he nodded, letting go and falling back on his backside and looking down at his trembling hands. "I don't know what to say, this is…complicated. What is wrong with your mom?"

"Dad said that using the peacock miraculous made her sick since they didn't know it was broken at first." Adrien sighed. Marinette looked thoughtful for a few moments making Adrien visibly more nervous with every passing second.

"I can think of a possible way to way to help your mom without making a wish, but I want the butterfly and peacock miraculous before I come to try anything." Marinette said softly, pretty sure what she had planned could work though she wasn't a hundred percent positive.

"Thank you, what about my dad though?" Adrien asked, looking so broken as he fought to maintain eye contact after looking up at her.

"I don't know, Adrien. He caused a lot of trouble, but it sounds like he may have had good intentions." Marinette said after a few moments of hesitation.

"Bugaboo, how did you know it was me? Is it why you hate me now?" Adrien asked, the pain in his eyes making Marinette stop herself from saying yes she hated him. The truth is, she didn't hate him. He hurt her badly, but at the same time she couldn't bring herself to say she hated him. She didn't even think she really did hate him as no matter how numb she felt when not feeling spikes of pain and depression. She couldn't even say she hated Alya despite the pain the girl caused her. She didn't try and fool herself into thinking things would ever be okay between them, she knew better. She would never trust them enough to be anything close to what they were before. Maybe acquaintances, but that was likely about it.

"I…I don't hate you, kitty." Marinette said, feeling a pang of guilt at seeing the hopeful look cropping up in his eyes only to know she was about to squash it. "I just don't think we can ever be close like we were again. You hurt me bad, kitty. Alya and you both hurt me more that I ever thought anyone could. The only one who hurt me more was my mother."

"I'm sorry, bugaboo. I don't know what I did, but if I could take what ever it was back I would. I would never knowingly hurt you." Cat Noir choked out.

"I'm sorry to, kitty." Marinette said, moving over to lean down enough to kiss his cheek. "We can't be as close as we once were, but I will do my best to help you. Bring the peacock and butterfly miraculous here this time tomorrow and I will come and see what I can do to help your mother."

"Thank you." Cat Noir sobbed out as Marinette swung away leaving the boy to his own thoughts while Marinette had troubled thoughts of her own making it almost impossible to get to sleep that night.
