Louise was cleared to return to school after Thanksgiving break. Which seemed unfair. She was barely used to the wheelchair and now her left arm was completely useless too. She couldn't even push her own chair. Her parents and siblings had to push her everywhere and she needed help with everything. Including going to the bathroom. Which was annoying. Because that was the exact reason, she had insisted she stop using the catheter. At least Linda and Tina gave her as much privacy and dignity as possible. Linda did most of the work when Louise was home, and Tina helped her out when they were in school.
"Louise! Are you sure that you repacked your extra clothes?" Linda asked as the kids were getting ready for school the Thursday after Thanksgiving.
"Yes" Louise sighed grateful to have had the extra clothes after an art class mishap on Tuesday.
"Are you sure because I thought sure I saw them on your dresser." Linda commented.
"I have them!" Louise snapped shoving a forkful of scrambled eggs into her mouth.
"Are you sure Louise? Because the doctor said the pain meds could make you forgetful." Bob commented.
"I have my extra clothes and I am not going to have an accident. Because I go every two hours on the dot." Louise scoffed.
"If, you are sure." Linda sighed.
Tina had gym class second period. She wasn't the tortured geek who spent the period dodging bullies who thrived on targeting her. She was actually fairly athletic for how clumsy she was. Still, it was far from her favorite class. Especially when they played dodgeball. Though the one advantage dodgeball had was that she typically got knocked out pretty easily and that meant spending the rest of the game sitting on the bleachers watching Jimmy Junior leaping about in his slightly too small gym shorts. Today however it was as if the dodgeball gods were smiling upon her. Because half the class, including Jimmy Junior and Zeke were out. Surprisingly, Chloe's obnoxious sister Lynette was still in the game. Tina's eyes fell on Lynette's back, and she raised the ball, holding her arm as far back as it could go. It would be so easy to make it look like an accident. Even if the paralysis wasn't permanent. If one of them could see how it felt. How Louise felt. "THWACK!" Tina's dark thoughts were in vain. A ball hit her hard in the back. She winced and shuddered at the fact that she wanted to hit Lynette even harder than that. She dropped the ball and retreated to the bleachers. Where Zeke and Jimmy Junior were horsing around.
"You can't get me! You can't get me!" Jimmy Junior taunted.
"You sure about that?" Zeke called charging towards Jimmy with his arms raised. Zeke wasn't paying attention to where he was going, and his left arm collided with Tina's head causing her glasses to go flying landing on the gym floor. Tina's eyesight was nonexistent without her glasses, but she did not need to see what happened next. The cracking noise was a known dread of any glasses wearer.
"Oh My God! Tina! I am so sorry!" Zeke apologized rushing to her side. "Are you OK?"
"I am fine, but my glasses are not." Tina sighed.
"Sorry I was bein' dumb." Zeke apologized.
"Detention Zeke! Tina get to the nurse!" Coach Blevins called.
"I'll walk with her. It's the least I can do." Zeke sighed.
Zeke retrieved Tina's glasses and walked her to Nurse Liz' office where her fears were confirmed. Her glasses were broken beyond repair. Nurse Liz checked Tina over and determined that while she would be bruised up pretty good. Physically she was OK. Liz did her best to tape Tina's frames up in hopes of at least holding until she got either her backup pair or a new pair could be made. Bob and Linda were called. Because there was no way Tina's taped up frames would get her through the school day. Linda was out running errands, but Bob closed up and rushed over.
"OK Tina I'm here." Bob announced stepping into the nurse's office.
"Hey dad" Tina replied.
"Mr. B I am so sorry for what happened, and I will gladly pay for Tina's new glasses. This is all I have now, but I will pay ya back. I promise." Zeke apologized grabbing a tangled wad of cash from his pocket.
"That is very generous Zeke, but you don't have to worry. Accidents happen." Bob assured.
"Alright Zeke you really need to get back to class." Nurse Liz insisted.
"OK so I called Dr. Dougal he didn't have any of your prescription in stock, but he said your prescription was still valid. So, he called around and thank God they have your prescription and your lenses at Eye Can See Clearly Now. They are making them right now." Bob explained.
"But that's almost an hour away!" Tina cried.
"I know Tina but that was the only place in the county that had your prescription in stock and your old frames aren't much better off than this." Bob explained.
"I know but who is going to help Louise with the bathroom?" Tina asked.
"Tina I am a nurse. I know how to help people pee." Nurse Liz interjected.
"I know but Louise uh she's self-conscious." Tina replied.
"Look Tina, I know you are worried, but Louise is a big girl. She can handle having somebody else help her just once or twice." Bob assured.
"She's due to go now. I can help her and then she'll be fine." Tina insisted leaping off the exam table and walking straight into Nurse Liz' desk.
"Tina unless you are going for a somewhat tasteless comedy sketch. You are not going to be useful helping your sister with her wheelchair or using the bathroom. Now let's get going. The faster we go. The less likely Louise needs outside help a second time." Bob explained.
"Fine" Tina sighed.
Louise copied the sentence Ms. Labonz had written on the board. She hated cursive so much. She had no idea why they were even still teaching it. OK she knew why but that didn't make her hate it any less. I mean why teach one way of writing for four years then suddenly in fourth grade start pushing another. Why not just start out with both. There was a knock on the door and Bob stepped in. Louise took a deep breath. She wanted desperately to get out of class, and she was never particularly close to her grandmother, but she hoped this wasn't the "Grandma is dead." early check out.
"Louise" Bob whispered kneeling down beside her.
"What?" Louise hissed.
"Something happened. Uh Tina broke her glasses. I have to take her to the optical shop to get a new pair. We are going to be gone for over two hours. So, Tina isn't going to be around to help you with the bathroom. Uh since you are scheduled to go now. I was thinking maybe I could help you before we left." Bob explained.
"Why can't Tina help?" Louise demanded.
"Her glasses are destroyed. They got stepped on by a big kid in gym class. She can't see a thing." Bob explained.
"No offense dad but I don't want a man seeing me pee." Louise replied.
"OK well Nurse Liz could help?" Bob suggested.
"NO! Nobody is helping me pee but Tina or mom!" Lousie hissed.
"Louise, I chose to teach fourth grade. Because it is the last year before hormones start kicking in but after the kids constantly have accidents in class era. Please do not ruin my two years without a student having an accident streak." Ms. Labonz begged.
"Yeah, Louise we would all hate for you to have an accident." Chloe cooed.
"No! Everybody shut up! It's fine! I don't even have to go!" Louise hissed.
Finally, Bob backed down and left to take Tina to get her new glasses. Louise went back to her cursive writing trying to play it cool. The truth was she was scared to death of having an accident in class. That was the last thing she needed but she also didn't want anybody else helping her pee. Of course, all they had to do was help her on and off the toilet. She could handle wiping with her non broken arm but God it was so embarrassing. School went on and even though she couldn't feel it. She was sure she did not have to pee. She never peed that much before the accident. So why would things change now? She had gone before class started and she hadn't had that much to drink. Just her juice at breakfast and she had been sipping on her water bottle all morning. About five minutes before the lunch bell rang. She picked up the aforementioned bottle and raised it to her lips. Just a couple of drops fell out. Curious, she unscrewed the cap and to her horror it was almost empty. Forty ounces of water were gone in under four hours! She hadn't even noticed. The heater was malfunctioning and making the classroom warmer than usual. She hadn't even noticed how much she was drinking. Her bladder was way smaller than this but then she remembered the heat safety talk at the end of the last school year. Sometimes when you were overheated you would drink more but your body would be so focused on keeping you cool. You would pee less or something like that. It was awfully hot in there. The lunch bell rang, and the class made their way to the cafeteria.
Rudy helped Louise breeze through the lunch line. Even with the cast on her arm. Getting through the line was far easier than it had been when she first returned to school. Largely due to kids finally getting used to having a second student in a wheelchair. After so many years of it just being Benj. Having to adapt to watching for a second chair was hard on her schoolmates. Unfortunately, Rudy had Thinkgineers that day, Tina was still not back making her even more uneasy, and Benj was out for the day. His mom was having dental work done or something and wouldn't be able to drive. So, she had opted to just let Benj have a day off. Thankfully Louise soon saw Gene exit the lunch line. He took a seat with her even though he disliked the accessible table.
"Are you sure you are OK here?" Louise asked.
"Better than you sitting alone." Gene replied.
Lunch was going well; Louise felt a little queasy. So, she allowed Gene to take her extra tater tots. Having Gene around made Louise forget about her bathroom fear. Until ten minutes or so before the end of lunch period. She heard a strange rushing sound. Almost like the old malfunctioning water fountain had gotten stuck on again. Except there was no water fountain in the cafeteria, a strange smell wafted up to her nose. Almost like.
"Aghhhh! Louise!" Gene screamed.
"Relax Gene it's just a gummy snake." Louise assured assuming Gene was frightened by the snack Missy Masters had brought.
"No Louise uh you need to look down." Gene replied.
"Are you gonna flick my nose?" Louise questioned.
"No, I am serious Louise you need to look down at your feet now." Gene replied.
Reluctantly Louise looked under the table at her feet. It took a moment to register what she was seeing. This could not be happening. This had to be a nightmare. A large puddle had formed around her wheelchair. No this wasn't real. It had to be a mistake. Maybe somebody had spilled their drink last lunch period, and nobody bothered to clean it up. She shifted her head up slightly and studied her dress and unfortunately her fears were confirmed. Her dress was absolutely soaked. She had wet herself. It had been years since she'd had an accident. She felt her lip quiver. No, she could not cry. She bit her lip.
"It's OK Louise. I will help you to the nurse's office and she will clean you up." Gene assured.
"OK just be discreate." Louise begged.
Unfortunately for Louise discreate had gone out the window when Gene screamed her name. Naturally everybody was curious as to what was happening. It didn't help that they then witnessed her looking frantically under the table. To his credit Gene really did try to not draw attention. He took the handles of her wheelchair and turned her towards the exit.
"Hey everybody! Louise Belcher wet her pants! What a baby!" Chloe shouted at the top of her lungs.
If Louise had had a cyanide pill, she would have taken it right then. It was bad enough to pee your pants in school but to have it happen in the cafeteria during lunch and have somebody announce it to the world. Especially the person who had caused her to end up having an accident in the first place.
"Oh My God! What a baby!" Lynette laughed.
"Seriously so gross." Tammy added.
"Oh, really Tammy? You of all people are making fun. Because I remember the incident on the French Club overnight." Susmita commented.
"Well, that was different." Tammy whispered.
"Doesn't she know what toilets are? Wait what are toilets?" Jocelyn chimed in.
"How embarrassing" Jimmy Junior commented.
"Gross!" A seventh grader added.
"Seriously" A sixth grader agreed.
"Oh, come on! Haven't y'all seen Billy Madison? All the cool people pee their pants! In fact. I am Adam Sandler!" Zeke cried as he jumped on the table and poured his apple juice down his shorts. "So, we aren't doin' I am Spartacus but with Adam Sandler? Not spillin' drinks on ourselves?" He sighed. At least everybody was looking at him now and Gene was able to get Louise out of the cafeteria.
"Well Mr. Sandler I am proud to inform you that you have just been cast in an exciting new project. It's called detention. Production begins tomorrow afternoon immediately after school and your castmates are both old favorites and some very promising new up and comers." Mr. Frond declared.
"Seriously you are punishing Zeke? All he did was make a mess. What about Chloe and all the kids who were laughing at Louise? It's OK to harass a disabled student for having an accident but not OK to make a little mess?" Kaylee demanded.
"Kaylee, you know as well as I do that Zeke's disruptive behavior is a problem. We will have a talk about bladder control during the next middle school assembly." Mr. Frond explained.
"Louise is right. You are a fraud." Kaylee muttered.
Gene wheeled Louise to Nurse Liz' office where they received even more bad news. Apparently, there was some sort of training for all the school nurses, and she would be out for the rest of the day.
"What am I supposed to do now?" Louise asked utterly defeated.
"I'll take you to the bathroom and help you get cleaned up myself." Gene offered.
"But you're my brother. I don't want you seeing or touching my private parts." Louise whispered.
"I know it's embarrassing but it's better than sitting in pee the rest of the day. Besides if I do this for you now. It will be easier for you to help me with my colostomy bag. After I blow out my intestines in a hot dog eating contest." Gene assured.
"Or you could just help me and not eat so many hot dogs you have to poop in a bag." Louise suggested.
"Oh boo" Gene sighed.
"Gene? Louise? Why are you outside the nurse's office? Are you OK?" Tina asked rounding the corner.
"Obviously not!" Louise snapped pointing at her wet dress.
"What happened?" Tina questioned.
"I was too afraid to ask anyone else to help me use the bathroom and I had an accident." Louise explained.
"Oh, Louise I am so sorry." Tina apologized.
"It's OK just help me get cleaned up." Louise begged.
"Of course," Tina replied.
"What can I do?" Gene asked.
"Go get my backpack! That's where my extra clothes are." Louise ordered.
Gene ran down the hall towards Ms. Labonz' room. While Tina carefully wheeled Louise to the bathroom. She maneuvered Louise into the handicapped stall and locked the door. She helped Louise onto the toilet, carefully removing the wet clothes and placing them on the floor. She grabbed some paper towels that she proceeded to get damp and helped Louise into a position that made it easier for her to clean her. There was a knock on the door and Gene quietly informed them that he had Louise's bag. Tina unlocked the door and took the bag. Gene left and Tina began rifling through for Louise's extra clothes. Her heart dropped when she realized there was nothing in the bag.
"Shit" Tina whispered.
"What's wrong?" Louise questioned.
"Is there any chance that you left your extra clothes in your locker?" Tina asked hopefully.
"No" Louise gasped. She was so sure they were in her bag, but they weren't. She had left them sitting on her bed.
"Oh no" Tina sighed.
"What am I supposed to do?" Louise questioned.
"I am going to call dad. He should be home by now. He can get your extra clothes and bring them." Tina suggested.
"Well call dad because there is no way I am going back to class after this, but I really don't want to sit here until he gets here." Louise explained, finally allowing herself to cry.
"Wait I just thought of something! I'll be right back!" Tina declared.
Tina army crawled under the stall door and raced out of the bathroom. She raced to her own locker and retrieved the bag. After an unfortunate incident last year where she misjudged her period. She always kept extra clothes in her locker. Except she doubted Louise would wear her panties then and the skirt was too big anyway and there was no shirt. Then she remembered. Linda had just washed Louise's gym clothes the day before the accident. They were safely in her gym locker. She grabbed her skirt and raced for the locker room. Thankfully able to remember Louise's combination because it happened to be Jimmy Junior's half birthday. She grabbed the clothes from the locker and rushed back to the bathroom. She helped dress Louise in the shirt and shorts, putting her skirt over the shorts just so it wasn't obvious that Louise was not wearing underwear. She stuffed the wet clothes into the bag that Louise had brought her gym clothes in.
"OK all set." Tina replied.
"Thank you" Louise replied.
"Do you still want to go home?" Tina asked.
"Yes" Louise insisted.
Tina started to help Louise back into her wheelchair. Until she realized that setting her back in the wet chair would defeat the purpose of changing her into clean clothes. She cleaned the chair and its wheels in the same manor she had cleaned Louise. Once Louise and the chair were clean. She lifted Louise into the chair, grabbed the bag of wet clothes and carefully wheeled Louise to the office. Mr. Frond or somebody must have already called their parents. Because Bob and Linda were waiting when they arrived.
"Oh, my baby! My poor baby!" Linda cried pulling Louise into a tight hug.
"Aw mom it's OK." Louise groaned.
Gene stood on the top of the jungle gym. Watching the other kids run around playing gleefully. He didn't really feel like playing but he wanted desperately to forget what had happened at lunch. He couldn't believe that Louise had had an accident. He knew she couldn't control her bladder well, but he still felt like he should have been able to notice and stop it before she had a full-blown accident.
"Hey Gene! Are you going shopping after school?" Chloe asked climbing onto the jungle gym.
"We might do some shopping." Gene replied.
"Oh yeah? Are you going to Woah Baby to buy diapers for your sister? Or does she need the old lady diapers?" Chloe taunted.
"She doesn't wear diapers and she doesn't usually have accidents. She just waited too long." Gene hissed.
"If accidents aren't a problem. Why has Tina been helping her in the bathroom all week?" Lynette questioned.
"Because her arm broke." Gene replied.
"Because she peed so much, she hydroplaned out of her chair?" Chloe commented.
"No!" Gene snapped.
"She can't walk, she can't control her pee. When that happened to our old poodle. We had her put to sleep." Lynette laughed.
"What did you say?" Gene demanded.
"She said you should have Louise put to sleep." Chloe repeated.
"You bitch!" Gene shouted grabbing the tater-tots left over from lunch and rubbing it into Chloe's hair.
"Aghhhhhh!" Chloe shouted.
"Oh man this is definitely going to hurt your family's case." Lynette laughed.
"I don't care!" Gene cried grabbing the last of the tots and smashing them into Lynette's hair.
"You monster!" Lynette cried.
"What is going on up here?!" Mr. Frond demanded climbing onto the jungle gym.
"Gene smashed tater-tots into out hair." Chloe sobbed.
"It's ruined!" Lynette added.
"Chloe and Lynette go clean up. Gene Belcher you have detention today and tomorrow." Mr. Frond barked.
"But they were making fun of Louise!" Gene cried.
"So, what. That is not an excuse to bully." Mr. Frond replied.
Zeke sighed as he took a seat in detention. He could not believe he had gotten detention two days in a row. He had been doing so good. His dad was furious about the gym class incident, and he was definitely going to be paying for Tina's glasses. At least he would be able to work at his uncle's garage, and there would be driveways to shovel, errands to run, and he could babysit his sister. By contrast his dad was extremely proud of him for coming to Louise's defense. Though he did wish that he hadn't poured the apple juice into his shorts.
"Hey Zeke" Gene greeted.
"Hey Gene. What are you doing here?" Zeke questioned.
"I got detention for mashing tater-tots into the Barbash sisters' hair." Gene explained.
"Were they makin' fun of Louise again?" Zeke asked.
"Yep" Gene confirmed.
"And they ain't here. Just us." Zeke sighed.
"Yep" Gene agreed.
"Well let's make the best I suppose." Zeke replied.
Gene nodded his head in agreement. He wasn't thrilled about having detention but at least he had defended Louise and at least Zeke was there. He reached into his backpack. He didn't feel up to doing homework though he did have a good deal of it. He grabbed the purple notebook with the Equastranauts on it and began to read.
"Is that Tina's diary?" Zeke questioned.
"Yeah" Gene replied.
"Ya shouldn't be readin' that. It violates her privacy." Zeke explained.
"She doesn't mind." Gene assured.
"How do you know?" Zeke demanded.
"She's never minded before." Gene replied.
"That you know of." Zeke rebutted.
"She's OK." Gene assured.
"If ya say so." Zeke sighed.
Gene went back to reading Tina's diary. Maybe Zeke was right, but he was curious. Teenage girls were fascinating to him. Sometimes he wished that he could be one. Mostly Tina's diary was routine. Stories about Jimmy Junior, school gossip, family goings on. Then he came to one paragraph that flipped everything on its axis. He had to read it ten times just to make sure he was reading it right.
"Zeke" Gene called.
"What is it, Gene?" Zeke asked.
"You need to read this." Gene insisted.
"No way! I ain't readin' nobody's diary. I felt lousy enough readin' Ann Franks'." Zeke countered.
"Uh this is super important." Gene insisted.
"NO!" Zeke hissed.
"But it's an emergency." Gene begged.
"Just tell me what it is if it's so important." Zeke sighed.
"Uh it's something that could really get Tina in trouble if Frond found out. Please just read it." Gene pleaded.
"Fine" Zeke sighed.
Zeke reluctantly took the diary from Gene and began to read. He felt absolutely filthy reading somebody else's diary, but Gene was insistent, and he actually seemed afraid. "I overheard Chloe and her sister Lynette making fun of Louise the other day. It made me so mad. I knew I had to get even. Then I decided against it. Then today Louise had an accident at lunch. Chloe and Lynette were making fun again. It made me sick, and I knew that I had to do what I had planned. So tomorrow after school. I am going to push Chloe down the stairs. then maybe she will get paralyzed and see how Louise feels."
"Oh My God!" Zeke whispered.
"We have to stop her Chloe's parents want me expelled for the tater-tot thing. If Tina actually cripples Chloe. They will have her arrested." Gene insisted.
"You just leave that to me." Zeke assured.
Louise did not come out of her room all day Thursday. Even though they worried about the precedent they were setting but Bob and Linda agreed to let her stay home Friday. Tina and Gene made their way to school alone. Gene spent the entire day worrying about Tina. Zeke had said he would handle it but what if he didn't? What if Tina got to Chloe before they could stop her?
The final bell rang. Tina grabbed her stuff and headed towards the front entrance. She could not believe what she was about to do. Maybe she was going too far? No, she had to do this? She had to avenge Louise. She had to make Chloe see exactly what she had done. She dropped the books she would not need out of her locker and grabbed the ones she would. She saw Chloe and Lynette walking towards the exit. Now was her chance.
"TINA!" Zeke called.
"What is it, Zeke?" Tina asked.
"Come with me now! I need to show ya something' in the gym." Zeke insisted.
"I have to be somewhere." Tina lied.
"It will just be really quick." Gene assured.
Tina reluctantly followed Gene and Zeke to the gym. They walked through the main gym and into the workout room. A room typically only utilized by sports teams for conditioning. Though sometimes it was used for standard gym classes. They weaved through the room to the back corner. Where an ancient punching bag hung from the rafters.
"The punching bag? This is what was so important?" Tina demanded.
"Tina, I read your diary. I read your diary. I know what you want to do to Chloe." Gene explained.
"OK so you know I want to get justice but why is Zeke here and why are we looking at the punching bag?" Tina demanded.
"Because Gene showed me." Zeke replied.
"So, I guess you are going to Mr. Frond now." Tina sighed.
"I am not. Unless you want me to. No what I am going to do. I am going to teach you a healthy way to cope. I am going to give ya somethin' you can punch all day and it won't hurt nobody." Zeke explained.
"I want to push Chloe! She deserves it! An eye for an eye! They say that in the Bible!" Tina spat.
"That may be but if everybody's pokin' everybody's eyes out all the time. Then the whole world would end up blind or in this case paralyzed, and while there's nothin' wrong with bein' disabled. There is everythin' wrong with hurting people. If you cripple Chloe. Then Lynette will cripple you or Gene. Then you or Gene will cripple whoever else. Then the entire school will be in wheelchairs." Zeke explained.
"I know but God it hurts so much. I am so angry. I want to push something." Tina sniffed.
"Then push this punchin' bag. This bag is my mom when I think about her pickin' drugs over me. This bag is the kids who call me a hick. This bag is the Barbash sisters makin' fun of Louise." Zeke explains handing Tina a pair of gloves.
"OK" Tina sighed grabbing the gloves.
Tina reluctantly slipped the gloves on her hands. Slowly she began to punch the bag. It felt good. She started pushing harder and faster. The speed increased and she let out a scream. She imagined the bag as Chloe and Lynette. Then she felt dirty. She could not believe she had wanted to do something so awful. She ripped the gloves off and slid down to the floor. She buried her face in her knees and began to cry.
"I am so awful!" Tina sobbed.
"You ain't awful. You're hurting. You got angry and didn't have a proper way to channel it now you do." Zeke assured.
"But this bag isn't for everybody. It's for the sports teams." Tina sighed.
"Nah Coach Blevins and Coach Simons said you could use it. They let me and they let others. Use it as much as you need." Zeke explained.
"Thanks Zeke" Tina replied.
"Zeke and Gene, I believe you two have detention. You have two minutes to get there, or you both have ISS next week!" Mr. Frond barked.
"Well, we best go. Tina stay here and work the bag." Zeke insisted.
Tina got back to her feet, put the gloves back on, and began to punch. Hard and fast. She screamed and raged. She cried a little. Before she knew it Zeke and Gene were back in the workout room.
"Come on Tina we need to get home." Gene called.
"It's gettin' dark already. I will walk ya two home." Zeke offered.
Tina picked up her backpack and followed Zeke and Gene out of the workout room. They exited the school. Tina shuddered at the stairs, she had very nearly shoved Chloe down. She could not believe she let her anger take over like that. Zeke put his hand on her shoulder and guided her home. The trio tried to keep things light on the way home. Between the million times Tina thanked Zeke for talking her down. They turned onto Ocean Avenue. Where they were met with an unfortunate sight, an ambulance parked by the sidewalk. Tina and Gene shuddered. Still haunted but the memory of Louise's accidents. The despair grew even worse. When they realized that the ambulance was parked in front of the Belcher family home.
"What happened?" Tina cried.
"Louise didn't come out of her room all day and she didn't eat anything since last night. We thought she was still just upset about everything. So, I sent your dad in there to talk to her. It took him forever to get her to respond and she was burning up." Linda explained.
"What's wrong with her?" Gene demanded.
"They don't know." Bob replied.
Zeke placed his arms protectively around the older Belcher siblings and they clung to him for dear life. As they watched their baby sister be loaded into an ambulance for the third time in as many months. Each silently praying that there was nothing too serious wrong with Louise. She had already endured so much.
