Chapter 4: Consequences

Inside Konoha

Sakura was walking down the roads of Konoha, happy that the demon that took so much from her was finally gone. She had a large smile on her face and flowers in her hand as she approached the front desk of the hospital to visit her precious Sasuke. "Hey, I'm here to see Sasuke."

The woman at the front desk simply nodded and shooed her away, knowing who she was. Sakura walked to his room with an extra bounce in her step. "Finally!" she thought. "I can have him all to myself, no Naruto to stop me and take his attention from me." She cheerfully opened Sasuke's door and noticed him loooking out the window - he had finally woken up! "Sasuke-kun!" Sakura squealed and jumped onto him, digging her head into his chest. Sasuke glared at the top of her head. "I'm so glad you're finally awake! I was so worried after you came back all injured after Naruto fought you but now you're all better and he's finally gone!"

Sasuke's eyes went wide at that statement. "What? What do you mean he's gone?"

"Did he leave the village to get stronger like I tried to do?"

Sakura looked up at him with a happy look on her face. "The council banished Naruto after they saw what he did to you. I mean it was about time anyway, he was just a monster with nothing. He had no parents to raise him right. Just can't believe they took this long."

Sasuke suddenly shoved Sakura off of him and she hit the floor hard. "Sasuke-kun?" She looked up at Sasuke and saw the biggest scowl she had ever seen on anyone's face.

"You know nothing about how it is to be alone. Man, you really are an annoying banshee. Get the hell out of my room Sakura."

Sakura had tears form in her eyes. Head in her hands, she ran out of the room.

"Wow, Sasuke really said that to you?" Ino asked as she tended to flowers.

"Yes Ino, I coulldn't believe it either," Sakura replied to her platinum friend and picked up a bouqet of flowers. "I mean, Sasuke must think the same right? Naruto was just a monster with nothing, just as it should have been."

"Sakura, did you forget that Sasuke lost everything? If anything, that might have been worse than Naruto. Naruto never had a family or clan to love, but Sasuke had his whole clan. And that clan was demolished in one night. If anything, Sasuke is the one who understands Naruto the most, what he's gone through."

Sakura set down the bouqet. "I forgot about that. Guess Sasuke understands Naruto the most. But that doesn't change the fact that he's a monster."

"That may be true Ino, but Naruto is still a monster. Sasuke didn't deserve what he got. Naruto deserved all of it."

"Monster? Sakura, do you really think he chose to hold the beast? You're crazy if you think him just holding the Kyuubi makes him a monster."

"Doesn't it? That thing killed so many people 12 years ago, whats not to say that it breaks out and does it again? The village is safer without that monster around."

"Whatever you say Sakura," Ino said shaking her head as she went to the back of the shop.

Sakura stared at the spot that Ino left vacant. "What's going on? Why is everyone acting like this? I thought everyone would be happy that Naruto is finally gone..."

Tsunade let out a frustrated sigh at her current predicament. She shoved the profile of the ninja she was looking at back in its folder. "Damn it, none of these ninja fit the profile of Team 7. I never thought it would be this hard to find a replacement for Naruto," she thought to herself. "Come in!" she said without looking up from her papers after hearing a knock on her door.

A tall man covered in bandages and using a cane to walk came into her office. "Hokage-sama."

Tsunade looked up from her papers and narrowed her eyes. "Why is he here?"

"What do you want Danzo? I'm busy here."

"You're trying to find Uzumaki's replacement, are you not? I have a candidate that I think is perfect for the job. You would be a fool not to take the suggestion."

Tsunade studied his face to see if he had something up his sleeve. As usual, Danzo kept his face stoic as ever. She hesitated for a minute before responding. "What do you have that I haven't already looked at Danzo? There isn't a single ninja in this village that fits on this team."

At that moment, a young man walked through the door. He had jet black hair, a white shirt underneath a navy blue jacket, along with navy blue ninja pants, sandals, and holster. He had striking green eyes that seemed to pierce your soul every time you looked into them, but at the same time had a friendly feel to them.

At the sight of the man, the anbu stationed in the office jumped out at him and held kunais to his neck. The boy didn't even flinch. "Stand down," was the order from the Hokage. The anbu put their weapons away and went back to their hiding spots. "Danzo, who is this?"

The young boy spoke up. "My name is Tenzen Nakamura. I arrived in the village several years back and was trained by Danzo-sama. He has requested me to be the replacement to Naruto Uzumaki of Team 7, Hokage-sama."

Tsunade rose an eyebrow at this. "Nakamura? Thats not a name I'm familiiar with. And he arrived in the village several years back and was being personally trained by Danzo? Why wasn't I informed of this? Or did Danzo keep it to himself? Either way, this is very suspicious..."

"Where and when did you find him Danzo?"

"I found him wandering outside the village 8 years ago. He had ripped clothing and looked like he hadn't eaten for weeks, so I decided to take him in."

"Huh, maybe he does have a heart."

"And why did you decide to train him?"

"He fought back when I approached him, and was powerful. I thought he would be an excellent addition to our ranks with the proper training."

"Or maybe not."

"Well then Danzo, tell me what his abilities are."

Danzo went on to explain the jutsus and techniques that Tenzen has learned over the years under his tutelage. Tsunade sighed as she realized that his attributes would be a perfect fit for Team 7. "Almost too perfect."

"It seems I have no other choice then. Tenzen Nakamura, you are officially a member of the Konoha Shinobi Force and Team 7." Tenzen nodded in recognition. "Neko!" An anbu wearing a mask resembling a cat appeared. "Find Kakashi and bring him here. He should get acquanited with his new team member."

One Month Later

The door to Tsunade's office burst open. "Tsunade-sama! This is bad. The Wave have ended our agreement!" Shizune exclaimed.

"WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY'VE ENDED OUR AGREEMENT?"

Shizune tossed Tsunade a scroll which she hurriedly unfurled.

Hokage-sama,

Due to the recent events that have occured in Konoha and our increase in financial welfare, the Village of the Waves have decided to end our agreement with Konoha. At this point and time, we will look for other and more beneficial alliances and will not renew our alliance with Konoha in the near future.

We wish you well,

The Village Hidden in the Waves.

Tsunade furrowed her brow in frustration. "This is not good. I knew the banishment of Naruto would come back to bite us in the ass. Damn it, the Wave gave us a good amount of missions. Shizune, go find me some replacement missions and quickly. If we don't find something, we could be in trouble."

"HAI!" Shizune left the Hokage's office quickly to carry out her orders.

"Why is she in such a hurry?" a voice asked from the window. Tsunade didn't bat an eye at it as she knew exactly who it was.

"The Wave ended our alliance and we need some new missions fast. I was going to hand one of those out today."

The man raised an eyebrow at this. "Why did they end our alliance? I thought it was quite strong."

"Yes it was, but they mentioned something about recent events. I'm pretty sure they meant that event."

The man tilted his head in confusion. "What event Tsunade?"

Tsunade slowly turned her chair around to look into the eyes of the white haired man at the window sill. "Jiraiya, they're talking about Naruto being banished a month ago."

Jiraiya's eyes widened. "WHAT?! YOU BANISHED NARUTO? HOW COULD YOU?!"

Tsunade slammed her fist on the table to shut him up. "JIRAIYA CALM DOWN! YOU THINK I WANTED HIM TO GET BANISHED?"

Jiraiya shook his head. "I'm sorry Tsunade. You're right. Why did he get banished though? And why didn't you tell me? I should have been the first to know."

Tsunade sighed. "I'm sorry Jiraiya, I didn't know how to tell you."

"Tsunade, it has been more than a month since he was banished, you couldn't think of a way to tell me in that time?"

"I'm sorry Jiraiya. You were out of the village and we need your spy network. It's better for the village if you aren't distracted in your work."

Jiraiya sighed at Tsunade's excuse. "Be that as it may, how did he get banished in the first place? Last I saw him he was sitting in the hospital ready to get out and train. I was even going to take him on a trip."

"That's exactly why he was banished Jiraiya."

Jiraiya tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean Tsunade?"

Tsunade sighed. "The elders convinced the Daimyo to banish Naruto because of what he did to their precious Sasuke. I'm sure they've been wanting him gone for a while, they were just looking for a reason. Couple that with the fact that you were out of the village and the elders knew that you were going to train him, they wanted him out as soon as possible. I did my best to stop it, but even I can't overturn the Daimyo's decision."

Jiraiya seethed in anger. "Those old fucking skinbags. I'm going to go find Naruto."

"It's useless Jiraiya," a new voice called out. "He's long gone by now. No one knows where he is. For all we know, he could be dead."

"I know for certain that Naruto isn't dead Koharu. Besides, how else would the Wave have found out he was banished other than from the man himself?" Jiraiya jumped out the window and went on his way to look for Naruto.

"The Wave?" Koharu questioned. "What is he talking about Tsuande?"

Tsunade glared at the elders and leaked killing intent. "The Wave waived our alliance because of the banishment of Naruto."

The elder's eyes widened at that. "What?!" Homura exclaimed.

"Surely they knew that he was a monster and it would be beneficial to them too, right?" Koharuo followed up.

Tsunade leaked out more killing intent. "He may be a monster to you and some other people in this village, but to them he was a hero. And you took that away from us. The only thing that was keeping them from breaking the alliance was their allegience to Naruto. Surely you thought about the reprecussions before banishing Naruto right? Or were you just acting upon the fact that he nearly killed your precious Uchiha that defected from the village? Get the hell out of my sight."

Homura and Koharu had their mouths open large enough for a fly to go into it. They closed their mouths and turned around to leave the village, their minds racing.

Training Ground 7 - Four Months After Naruto's Banishment

"FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" A large fireball headed Tenzen's way.

"WATER STYLE: WATER WALL!" The fire was easily extinguished by Tenzen's defensive water technique and he immediately struck back. "EARTH STYLE: MUD FIST!" Sasuke was punched across the face with a huge fist made of mud and flew bacwards into a tree.

"That's the match," Kakashi lazily called out from underneath his Icha Icha Paradise book. Sasuke grunted in frustration as he got up from the ground. "Dammit, he beat me again. That's a 5-3 record to him now. I need to step up my game." He looked to the side to see a pink blur heading towards him.

Sakura tackled Sasuke back to the ground. "Sasuke-kun you did so well! You shouldn't have lost that I swear he cheated. But don't worry you'll always win in my heart!"

"Get off me, banshee," Sasuke said coldly as he pushed her off.

"Now now Sasuke, Sakura, play nice," Kakshi chimed in. "Anyways, it's that time of year again. The chunin exams are coming up and I want to enter you guys in it again."

Sakura looked up in worry. "Are you sure we're ready sensei? I don't want a repeat of last time..."

Kakashi acknowledged her concerns. "Don't worry Sakura, we're taking extra precautions this time. There will be anbu and Jonin stationed at every exam this time and we should be able to respond quickly if anything happens."

Sakura glanced at Sasuke. "I hope you're right sensei.."

"We'll be fine Sakura," Tenzen spoke up. "I won't let something like that happen to you two again, you can count on it." Sakura nodded in appreciation at Tenzen's promise.

"Well now that that's out of the way, I need you guys to go to the same classroom as last time for the start of this portion of the exams. I'm sure the three of you will do fine and get promoted, but remember, all of you have to be present or none of you compete." Kakashi vanished in a shuinshin.

"I have a bad feeling about this..." Sakura thought as she started walking back to her house.

Tenzen entered his apartment and put all his ninja gear away and sat in the center of his room in a lotus position. He entered into his mindscape. A beautiful field of flowers could be seen surrounding a crystal clear lake. Animals were out of their homes playing in the sunshine. The baby foxes were playing with a twig, the birds seemed to be racing around the field, the deers were happily grazing. Tenzen smiled at the peaceful sight.

Suddenly the mindscape changed. Instead of a bright and colorful field, there was a room that was dark and had a blood red glow. There were skulls and bones littered all across the floor. In the distance, there was a figure sitting on a throne made of those bones. There was a black staff with a blood red orb at the top next to him. The figure had a cloak draped over his body. Everything about him was pitch black, except his eyes. His eyes were like a piercing red slit, as if ready to kill you at any instant. Tenzen always shivered at the sight, no matter how much he saw it.

"So it begins," the figure spoke in a dark and raspy voice.

"I am ready to begin carrying out the plan," Tenzen responded.

"Good, very good. You are doing well, Reincarnate." A maniacal laugh was heard from the figure as Tenzen was kicked out of his mindscape.

Tenzen's eyes snapped open, but instead of its usual friendly green, it was a piercing red. "So it begins."

Well thats that! It seems Konoha's alliances are beginning to fall apart due to Naruto's banishment, and what does Tenzen have in store? I don't even know myself! I really enjoyed writing this chapter, and I hope you guys enjoyed reading it. And thanks for all the reviews guys! I greatly appreciate it. Keep them coming!

A couple responses to some:

jaytheehokage - I did take inspiration from it and thats where I got the initial idea, but the story is a whole is planned differntly to how that one played out. Thanks for putting your faith in me though I'll do my best to not let you down!

Samm91 - Thanks for your review. I didn't write that part with the intention of trying to make Naruto show off who is parents are, I apologize if it came along that way. I was trying to make it seem like more of a shock factor as to who he really is and why on earth Konoha would banish royalty. I'm glad you're enjoying it though!

Like I said, keep those reviews coming! Can't wait to hear from you guys.
