Chapter 1: In a new world

A/N- This is a rewrite of this series, I hope it comes out well, I was thinking about other ones to slowly work on, and I decided this short story to work on.

The tempests had perhaps battered his vessel and cast him overboard, a night consumed by shadows and electrifying streaks across the sky. All hands toiled relentlessly to sustain the ship's course. He himself had labored vigorously, his efforts a desperate struggle to avert the boat's succumbing to the abyss. Koby, a Marine Captain, had expended the most strenuous exertions that night, steadfastly safeguarding the ship from oblivion. Yet, it had been far from facile. Koby, the fledgling commander within the Marines, was a mere 18 years old. A novice captain of the Sword division, hailed as the top disciple of the Marine legend, Monkey D. Garp, as well as the hero of the Rocky Port Incident.

During those hours, he had exerted himself mightily to stave off the rending of the main sail. A sudden gust had thrust him into the tumultuous sea. Providentially, a drifting barrel had served as his lifeline. Come the following day, the tides had cast Koby onto a shore, a stretch of coastline he would typically relish. But in his present predicament, there was no leisure to indulge such appreciation. Determination drove him to ascertain his whereabouts and explore means to establish contact with his comrades.

With resolve, Koby rose and executed a graceful Geppou maneuver, ascending into the sky. His objective: a panoramic survey of his surroundings. His eyes scanned for reference on the map, striving to identify the island upon which he found himself. From his elevated vantage, a bewildering sight met his gaze. The forest ahead seemed interminable, the land stretching into an endless horizon. The realization dawned that this was no ordinary island; its vastness defied what the map could portray. Koby's astonishment was palpable as he descended gracefully to solid ground, adjusting his damaged glasses in the process.

Thereafter, Koby's path led inland. He sought to encounter the inhabitants of this enigmatic land. Though an enigma, its expansiveness suggested the presence of settlements or villages. Scant provisions salvaged from the wreckage provided scant insight, confirming the ship's survival but implying his possible solitude.

He ventured forth into the verdant thicket, a tapestry of ancient trees rising to unprecedented heights. His pace was steady, his course uncertain yet deliberate. With each step, myriad thoughts cascaded through his mind. Reflections on the rigorous training imparted by Garp and Bogard; worries for his comrade Helmeppo's welfare after the tempest; hopes for Garp's well-being at Reverie, untouched by his own disappearance.

Time moved languidly, his only companion his ruminations. A serendipitous stream quenched his thirst, and wild berries provided sustenance. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Koby's decision to ascend once more yielded a glimpse of potential salvation: a town, its formidable walls encircling the settlement. From his aerial vantage, he discerned the road leading toward it. He determined that this route was his best chance to find answers and solace.

Koby proceeded along the road, its well-trodden path a welcome departure from the wilderness. Moonlight guided his way as he traversed the night. Mastery over endurance was a skill honed through Garp's tutelage, rendering his journey manageable despite sparse resources. As dawn neared, his advanced Observation Haki unveiled the village's martial population. A warlike aura pervaded, prompting vigilance.

Approaching the village gates, Koby met wary gazes and charged Haki. "Greetings. I apologize for intruding. I am Koby. Cast ashore a distance away, I have journeyed in this direction to find my bearings," he offered in a composed tone, his demeanor unwavering despite the tension. The masked figures, guardians of this place, materialized around him. Their directive was clear: accompany them to their leader, the stakes high should any subterfuge arise.

An indomitable violet-haired woman spoke, her words cutting through the tension. "Accompany us, Koby. Our leader wishes to meet you. Stray from trust, and you shall know swift consequences." The sun's ascent marked the culmination of his night-long sojourn toward this destiny.

Koby, maintaining his calm composure, decided to engage the Anbu ninjas. "Excuse me," he began respectfully, "could you please inform me of my current location? I find myself without any bearings or knowledge of this place." His words were polite, his tone earnest, and he refrained from exhibiting any hostile intent. He was well aware that he was in a foreign environment, far from his naval headquarters, and his primary objective was to gather information rather than incite conflict.

Though the Anbu ninjas remained silent, their collective demeanor and vigilant presence suggested a dialogue of a different nature. Koby intuitively recognized their role as guardians, their attentiveness to his movements palpable. While uncertainty lingered about the intentions of the masked figures, Koby's intuition urged caution; if the situation devolved, he had the confidence to disengage.

As the tableau endured, an unspoken exchange between the silent Anbu and the curious Marine unfolded. Koby remained poised, his expression a blend of curiosity and readiness. The consequences of his interaction with these enigmatic sentinels remained uncertain, yet Koby's intent to discern his circumstances persisted undeterred.

While the Anbu ninjas guided Koby through the village, his senses were on high alert. He meticulously absorbed his surroundings, endeavoring to glean whatever insight he could from the attire, architecture, and overall atmosphere. His keen observation picked up on the distinctive attire that bore a resemblance to what he'd heard of Wano, an island quite distant from his usual sphere around Naval HQ. The notion of being in Wano felt implausible given the circumstances, but Koby's training under Garp had taught him to expect the unexpected.

The village he passed through, though unfamiliar, did not entirely align with the descriptions he had encountered of Wano. The disparities raised questions, fostering a sense of intrigue rather than clarity. He remembered the reports of Captain X Drake's mission to Wano, a venture aimed at obtaining crucial intelligence. Koby mused that if he had, against all odds, ended up in Wano, the prospect of establishing contact with Drake was a glimmer of hope.

Maintaining his demeanor of quiet resolve, Koby allowed his mind to navigate this enigmatic situation. As the Anbu ninjas continued to lead him through the village, their unspoken interaction remained tense yet composed, a dialogue unspoken but palpable nonetheless. Koby remained prepared to adapt, his course tethered to prudence and rationality, ready to seize opportunities as they presented themselves.

INT. MARINE OFFICE - DAY

Koby and Helmeppo sit at a desk, both looking perplexed as they read the chapter.

Koby: (scratching his head) Helmeppo, I just don't understand. How did I end up in this strange land with ninja-like people? It's like a crossover episode gone wrong.

Helmeppo: (chuckles) Well, Koby, it's not every day you get to meet mysterious ninja guardians. Maybe they can teach you some stealth moves.

Koby: (laughs) Yeah, but I don't think my Marine uniform is quite stealthy enough for their taste.

They continue reading, and Koby's eyes widen.

Koby: (excited) Hey, Helmeppo, did you see that part where I used Geppou to fly?

Helmeppo: (grinning) Oh, I saw it, Koby. You've really come a long way from the guy who used to trip over his own feet.

Koby: (proudly) Thanks, Helmeppo. Garp's training really paid off.

They both laugh heartily, enjoying the absurdity of Koby's adventures.

Helmeppo: (teasing) So, Koby, when are you going to join the ninja village and become a full-fledged shinobi?

Koby: (playfully) Well, if they offer me a cool ninja headband, I might consider it.

They share a good laugh, appreciating the humor in the chapter.

Helmeppo: (smiling) You know, Koby, even in this strange world, you're still the same old Koby I know.

Koby: (grinning) And you're still the same old Helmeppo, making me laugh even in the weirdest situations.

They both return to reading the chapter, enjoying the adventure and looking forward to whatever craziness comes next.

FADE OUT.
