A/N: Hello! After a very long while i finally have the time to continue adding some stories to this collection. Hopefully u haven't gotten too rusty in writing

Premise: Kogasa Travels to the past of an Alternate Gensokyo

Enjoy!

Tatara Kogasa had always been an enigmatic figure in Gensokyo. As one of the many youkai inhabiting the mystical land of Illusions, she was known for her rather unusual quirks, she was an umbrella Tsukumogami youkai. While other youkai might have been fierce warriors or cunning tricksters, Kogasa's chosen role was simply to surprise humans by appearing out of nowhere, opening her umbrella to reveal a gaping maw and a lolling tongue, and then laughing heartily whenever the victim jumped in fear (Though this rarely Happens).

Despite her antics, Kogasa had a heart of gold. She never intends to harm anyone; she just wanted to add a little excitement to the lives of the humans who lived near the Hakurei Shrine, being sustained by their suprise is also a nice bonus. In fact, she secretly enjoyed making people laugh, even if it was at their own expense.

One sunny afternoon, Kogasa was doing what she did best, hiding in the shadows near the Hakurei Shrine, waiting for an unsuspecting human to pass by. She had her bright purple umbrella-self tucked under her arm, ready to make her grand entrance. As she crouched behind a bush, she couldn't help but feel a bit mischievous.

Just as she was about to spring her surprise on the next person to approach the shrine, something strange happened. The air around her seemed to shimmer and distort, and a sensation of weightlessness washed over her. It was as if the very fabric of reality itself had decided to play a trick on her instead.

Kogasa blinked, her wide, red and blue eyes filled with confusion and surprise. She looked around, but everything had changed. The peaceful surroundings of the Hakurei Shrine were gone, replaced by a dense, unfamiliar looking forest. The trees loomed high above her, casting long shadows. Kogasa was no longer near the shrine, and she had no idea how she had ended up here.

Panic threatened to bubble up inside her, but Kogasa's survival instincts kicked in. She clutched her umbrella-self tightly and began to survey her surroundings. The forest was eerily silent, and the air felt heavy with magic. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself, reminding herself that she was fully capable of defendimg herself if needed.

As she cautiously ventured deeper into the forest, Kogasa couldn't shake the feeling that something was very wrong. The foliage around her seemed to twist and shift, as if the very forest itself was alive. Strange, ghostly lights danced just out of reach, and she couldn't help but feel like she was being watched.

She wondered what has caused her sudden displacement, she had heard stories of portals and dimensional rifts, but she had never imagined she would experience one herself.

As Kogasa pondered her situation, a rustling in the underbrush nearby snapped her back to attention. She readied herself for a confrontation, her senses on high alert. Out of the shadows emerged a group of beastlike youkai, their eyes gleaming with malicious intent.

"Look what we have here," One of them sneered, a wicked grin on his face. "A lost little fledgeling who wandered into our territory."

Kogasa knew that she was in a dangerous situation, but she refused to let fear take over. She held her umbrella in front of her defensively, its wide, toothy grin matching her determination.

"Hey there!" She called out with a playful smile, her voice surprisingly cheery given the circumstances. "I'm just passing through. No need to get all hostile."

The surrounding youkai, taken aback by her seemingly carefree attitude, hesitated for a moment. But their hunger for a fight quickly overcame their confusion, and they unleashed a barrage of attacks on Kogasa. To her they look like basic, uncontrolled danmaku, unlike the intricate spellcard patterns she was used to.

Kogasa's instincts kicked in, and she danced gracefully through the projectiles, her movements a mesmerizing blend of agility and playfulness. She spun, twirled, and leaped, all while flourishing her umbrella-self in a display of showmanship. To the watching youkai, it was as if she had turned their attacks into a whimsical dance.

Unbeknownst to her, the bullets that she dodged had left deep marks on the surrounding folliage, indicating their lethality.

The youkai's confidence began to waver as Kogasa continued to evade their attacks effortlessly. They couldn't understand how this seemingly ordinary youkai was dodging their every move with such grace and ease.

After a few more minutes of this enchanting display, Kogasa decided to put an end to the confrontation. With a flourish, she leaped into the air and twirled her umbrella, sending a cascade of raindrops in all directions. The raindrops glistened in the sunlight and pelted the youkai, who yelped and scattered in all directions.

Kogasa landed gracefully, her umbrella once again tucked under her arm. She gave a cheerful wave and a cheeky grin to the retreating youkai. "Thanks for the dance! Maybe we can do it again sometime!"

The surrounding youkai, thoroughly bewildered and more than a little embarrassed, fled deeper into the forest, leaving Kogasa standing alone in the clearing. She let out a sigh of relief, her heart still pounding from the encounter. It seemed that those youkai had not really mastered the use of danmaku yet, good for her as far as she's concerned. After a moment to regain her bearings, she continued on her journey.

Quite some time later...

After what felt like an eternity, Kogasa emerged from the oppressive forest, finding herself in an open clearing. In the distance, she could see the familiar stairs of the Hakurei Shrine. Relief washed over her, but it was short-lived. As she approached the shrine, she realized that something was amiss.

The Hakurei Shrine, which was usually clean and well kept, stood silent and uncared for, piles of leaves are scattered around the cracked paths, the torii gate has pieces of it rotting away, and overall the shrine looks quite derelict. The shrine's main resident, Reimu Hakurei, was also nowhere to be seen. Kogasa's heart sank as she came to the realization that she might not be in the same Gensokyo as the one she knew.

As she walked around the shrine's main building, she couldn't help but notice how eerily quiet it was. The usual hum of activity, with humans and youkai visiting to make offerings or to seek Reimu Hakurei's assistance, was conspicuously absent. It was as if the shrine had been completely abandoned, which struck Kogasa as odd.

Undeterred, Kogasa continued her exploration, circling around to the back of the shrine. She hoped to find some clue about what had happened to this Gensokyo or perhaps stumble upon some friendly face who could explain her predicament.

As she rounded the corner of the main building, her eyes widened in surprise. In a small pond behind the shrine, a giant, bearded turtle lounged lazily in the water. Kogasa had seen her fair share of unusual youkai, but a giant turtle was a first for her. She stared at it for a moment, her playful grin momentarily replaced by sheer wonder.

The turtle, was unfazed by Kogasa's arrival. With a slow and deliberate movement, he turned his wise old eyes towards her, regarding her with a calm and lesurely gaze. It's bearded face bore a serene expression, and the water around him rippled gently as he adjusted his position.

Kogasa couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. She stepped closer to the pond and, with a polite bow, asked, "Excuse me, sir turtle, but who are you?"

The old turtle let out a deep, rumbling chuckle. His voice was slow and deliberate, matching his movements. "Ah, a newcomer, I see," he said in a low, soothing tone. "I am Genji, guardian of this shrine's waters and caretaker of it's guardian. And who might you be, young youkai?"

Kogasa gave a cheerful twirl, her umbrella-self spinning like a top. "I'm Tatara Kogasa, an Umbrella Tsukumogami! I heard about the Hakurei Shrine and decided to pay a visit. Can you tell me what's going on around here? Why shrine seems so deserted."

Genji blinked slowly, his ancient eyes seeming to hold a hint of curiosity. "A visitor, are you? That explains much," he mused. "As for the shrine, there is simply no one to care for it as much. The shrine maiden, Reimu Hakurei, is still here, though she may be preoccupied."

Kogasa tilted her head in curiosity. "Preoccupied? With what?"

Genji shifted in the pond, his massive form creating ripples that danced on the water's surface. "You see, young Kogasa, Reimu has her hands full dealing with restless spirits and the many mischievous fairies. She's been quite busy trying to do what she can to maintain order."

Kogasa couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Reimu. She knew all too well how chaotic Gensokyo could be, amd without the usual rules in place, she could only imagine how much harder it would be. "That sounds tough," she remarked. "But why is she doing it alone? Where is everyone else?"

Genji's ancient eyes seemed to hold a hint of sadness. "Many have moved on, and others are simply no longer present in this era."

Before Kogasa could ask more questions, a voice rang out from inside the shrine. "Genji! Genji! Where are you?"

Both Kogasa and Genji turned their attention to the source of the voice. A much younger Reimu Hakurei, dressed in her distinctive red and white shrine maiden attire, emerged from the shrine's entrance. She looked around with a mix of annoyance and concern.

"Genji, you can't just wander off like that," Reimu scolded, approaching the pond. "I needed your help with those troublesome ghosts, and you decide to take a dip?"

Genji chuckled softly, his deep voice vibrating through the air. "My apologies, young Reimu. I was simply enjoying the tranquility of the shrine's waters."

Reimu rolled her eyes. "Tranquility, my foot. You're just a lazy turtle."

Kogasa watched the exchange with amusement. It was clear that Reimu and Genji had a relationship not unlike that of a grandfather and his grandaughter, despite their differences in species.

Reimu finally noticed Kogasa standing by the pond. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she took in the newcomer. "And who are you supposed to be?" she asked, her tone cautious.

Kogasa gave a cheerful wave. "Nice to meet you! My name is Tatara Kogasa, an umbrella Tsukumogami. I heard about the Hakurei Shrine and decided to pay a visit. Your turtle friend, Genji, was just explaining things about the shrine."

Reimu's expression remained stern, but there was a slight hint of curiosity in her eyes. "A Tsukumogami, huh? Youkai aren't usually welcome im the shrine you know."

Kogasa couldn't help but find young Reimu's stubbornness and mistrust endearing. She giggled softly and couldn't contain herself from gushing, "Wow, you look so cute when you're being all serious!"

Reimu's cheeks flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and annoyance. She stomped her foot on the ground. "I-I'm not cute! I'm the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, and I'm tough!"

Genji couldn't help but let out a rumbling chuckle, and even Kogasa joined in with a playful laugh. The tension in the air eased a bit as they continued their conversation. Kogasa's appearance bringing a sense of elation to the shrine.

With Genji's tales of the shrine's condition still fresh in her mind, Kogasa couldn't help but feel a deep sense of reverence and sadness for this place. She had always considered herself a playful and mischievous youkai, but there was something about the ancient aura of the Hakurei Shrine that made her want to behave herself, at least for the time being.

Kogasa's attention was briefly pulled away by another unexpected sight. Reimu had moved behind Genji's massive form, and she was glaring at Kogasa with all the intimidation a young girl like her could muster.

However, to Kogasa, who had encountered many youkai with intimidating gazes in her time, Reimu's glare appeared more like an adorable pout. She couldn't help but find the young shrine maiden endearing. It was as if she were witnessing a kit trying to be intimidating.

Reimu had grown impatient with the prolonged conversation. She stepped forward and, with a determined huff, pointed an accusing finger at Kogasa. "You, youkai! You're trying to distract Genji with your talk. It's time to see if you're as tough as you claim to be!" Said Reimu, "I challenged you to a duel!"

Kogasa blinked in surprise at the sudden challenge. She hadn't expected be challenged to a proper duel so soon, especially from a younger version of reimu of all people. Still, her playful nature quickly took over, and she flashed a cheerful grin. "A duel? Sounds like fun! But let's make it interesting, okay?"

Little Reimu's stern expression wavered, replaced by a look of confusion. "Interesting? What do you mean?"

Kogasa twirled her umbrella and conjured a small, colorful shower of raindrop danmaku that danced around her. "We'll have a small wager, first one to get hit loses. if i win i get to stay here a bit longer, if you win i'll leave!"

Reimu's face is filled with wonder as she watched the raindrops twirl and shimmer. "That does sound... fun," she admitted, her curiosity getting the better of her stubbornness. "But you'll have to go first. I want to see what you can do."

Kogasa nodded and took a few steps back, giving herself some space. With a playful wink, she began to conjure colorful and whimsical projectiles. The bullets twirled and weaved in intricate patterns but ultimately posed no real threat to Reimu.

Reimu's eyes widened in amazement as she watched Kogasa's display. She couldn't help but be entranced by the swirling colors and graceful movements. Kogasa's projectiles formed intricate patterns that were both mesmerizing and beautiful. As Kogasa finished her turn, Little Reimu took a deep breath and stepped forward.

With determination in her eyes, she raised her gohei and began to shoot her own projectiles. They were simpler than Kogasa's, but Reimu gave it her all. She summoned her Yin Yang Orb and kicked it as hard as she can towards Kogasa, who simply moved slightly to the side to dodge the singular projectile. The two engaged in their duel, excited laughter filling the air as they dodged and weaved through each other's bullet patterns.

The shrine's grounds seemed to come alive with the vibrant dance of their projectiles. Kogasa's umbrella twirled and spun as she gracefully avoided each of Reimu's shots, and reimu expertly avoiding Kogasa's bullet in a great display of agility. She couldn't help but be impressed by the young shrine maiden's enthusiasm. For a moment, she forgot that this was a duel and simply enjoyed the exhilarating dance of danmaku.

Little Reimu, too, was thoroughly enjoying herself. Her determination to prove herself had given way to pure delight as she fired shot after shot at Kogasa. The projectiles she conjured were playful and full of youthful energy, a reflection of her own innocence.

As the duel continued, Kogasa decided to step up the excitement. She twirled her umbrella faster, creating a dazzling display of colorful multi-directional lasers that filled the air. Little Reimu's eyes widened in wonder as she tried to navigate through the intricate patterns. It was clear that Kogasa had the upper hand when it came to danmaku skills.

But that didn't deter Little Reimu. With a determined expression, she summoned a barrage of Yin Yang Orbs that filled the air with their own unique charm. They bounced and ricochets off the ground alongside Kogasa's raindrops, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of colors and patterns.

The duel escalated into a breathtaking display of danmaku prowess. Kogasa and Reimu moved with agility and grace, the shrine's surroundings seemed to fade away as they focused solely on the dance of danmaku, their laughter and excitement echoing through the previously silent shrine.

Genji watched the spectacle with a contented smile. The shrine's grounds, once quiet and deserted, were now filled with laughter and a sense of camaraderie. Kogasa's unexpected arrival had brought an unexpected sense of joy to the Hakurei Shrine, and even Little Reimu had been drawn out of her stern shell to join in the fun.

As the duel continued, the sun began to slowly set over the shrine, casting a warm and golden glow over the scene. The colorful projectiles illuminated by the setting sun created a breathtaking visual display. It was a moment frozen in time, a memory that Kogasa would cherish in her heart as she continued her adventure in this odd Gensokyo.

A/N: Welp, that was the first part, still confused on where to take this premise if i were to make a full story out of it.

You might have noticed that Kogasa made no mentioon Reimu's haircolor, i decided to have Little reimu's hair the same as her Windows counterpart in this story, though she might be curious enough to try out a dye? Or perhaps she will get hit by a stray spell? Who knows.

I have to admit that i still suck at describing action scenes, i'm looking to improve that in the future.

Anyways, i hoped you like that short, if you don't tell me how i could improve in the reviews, your advice really does help me to improve.

Anyways, that's it for now, see you later!
