WY: Chapter 13 - Finale

The police ride back home from Lemon Brook was filled with an awkward silence between Double D and Eddy. Once they arrived back at the Cul-De-Sac, they went to Eddy's house to try and reflect on what happened. Even when they entered Eddy's living room to talk, the awkward silence was still present.

Eddy noticed how Double D was acting; his friend was beginning to act nervous because of what happened and what was revealed. Eddy made a heavy sigh to him, "Double D, be honest with me. How long has this been going on for you?"

Double D flinched at Eddy's question, "F-For about a month and a half ago, maybe a little longer than that…" he stated to him in sadness, "I knew for sure ever since our final scam happened three weeks ago."

"I see."

Another awkward silence filled the room before anyone spoke again, "Eddy, I'm so sorry about all of this," Double D began to say, "I know I should have told you sooner, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship."

He gripped onto the bottom of his shirt, "But you probably hate me now because of this; because of what happened. You were almost killed because of me!"

Eddy widened his eyes, looking at him in disbelief at what he said.

"It's okay, I understand," Double D continued to say in sadness as he tried to get up from where he sat, "I'll leave you alone now."

"Oh, no you don't!" Eddy interjected to Double D before he could get up, gripping onto his wrist to prevent him from leaving, "Running away from this isn't gonna solve anything! So, sit your butt back down, okay?"

Double D stayed silent to Eddy before sitting back down, still looking away from him. A few more seconds passed by before Eddy spoke again, "Look, I don't know why you keep thinking that what you're feeling is a bad thing. You know better than that!"

Double D glanced down to the floor, "I-I know, but—"

Double D was interrupted by Eddy's right arm going around his shoulders, "Don't worry about that right now, okay?" Eddy stated with a cocky smirk, "We should be happy that both of us are still alive after all that BS!"

"… You're right," Double D replied with a small smile.

Eddy gave him a strong pat on the back before getting up from where he sat, "Good! Glad we got that settled."

Double D looked towards Eddy in confusion as he was approaching his stairs, "Where are you going?" he asked.

"I'm getting you a blanket and a pillow, duh!" Eddy stated to him, "Your living room is busted up right now, right? I know you don't wanna stay there when it's like that. You'd stay up all night trying to clean it up!"

Double D was surprised to hear Eddy say that to him, "I guess you're right."

Eddy continued to walk up his stairs, leaving Double D behind in his living room. He made a small sigh to himself, 'Eddy does have a point about my house; it would be unwise to stay there right now.'

Double D glanced towards his right hand for a moment, remembering the events that happened a moment ago. He remembered how cold Eddy's hand felt when he was lying on the bathroom floor before realizing he still had a pulse. If Double D had not felt his pulse or done CPR in time, Eddy would have died at the hands of his older brother. And all for what? For some form of hatred that both he and Eddy could never comprehend?! It mortified him that this even happened at all, let alone from someone they knew, jerk or not.

Meanwhile, back with Eddy, he grabbed both a blanket and pillow from the closet at the end of the hallway.

'Man, he really feels guilty about what happened,' Eddy thought to himself as he closed the hallway closet door in front of him, 'What can I even do to cheer him up?'

Eddy made a loud sigh before going back downstairs with the pillow and blanket. He could see Double D still sitting there on his couch, the same sad expression from before was still on his face.

"Here you go," Eddy stated to Double D when he walked back over to him to hand him the pillow and blanket, "It's getting way too late right now. Go and get some sleep."

Double D stayed silent to him. Eddy made another sigh before sitting back down next to him; he could tell Double D did not want him to leave right now, "Okay, fine! I'll stay, but just for a minute."

"… Thank you," Double D muttered weakly.

A few seconds passed by once more before Eddy started to talk, "When I… umm, you know, almost died, I… I saw your sister."

Double D widened his eyes in shock, turning to him, "W-What…? Are you serious?"

"Yeah," Eddy replied with a nod of his head, "She told me that you were reviving me, and for me to say hello to you… I think that helped me wake back up; not only you, but her as well," he smiled at him, "So, uh… thank you. Both of you."

Double D could feel tears coming into his eyes at Eddy's statement; his comment was very touching. Double D's heart started to beat faster as a blush came to his face. He turned away from him, trying to hide his face by pulling down his beanie over it.

Eddy rolled his eyes a little, "Double D, stop that," he started to say, "This isn't like you; just be yourself."

"Sorry, I-I know…" Double D replied, trying to calm his nerves down as he lifted his beanie back up from his face, "Your comment was… I-It was too much for me."

Eddy smiled a little, "Besides, we don't need to be this awkward when we both tell Ed tomorrow."

"Oh, right…" Double D sighed, "He would have to know what happened tonight."

"Yeah… But I didn't mean to tell him the things that happened."

Double D looked back at Eddy in confusion, "Wait, what are you saying?!"

Eddy grabbed Double D's left hand with his right to pull him into a hug, much to Double D's shock, the blush from before came back to his face.

"Listen, you're not the only one who was having these thoughts… I was questioning myself for a while too," Eddy started to say to him, "It wasn't until tonight that I figured it out."

Double D was speechless, he really did not know what to say. All he could do was tightly hug Eddy back; he could not stop crying at what he said. They both admitted they cared for each other, and it was very overwhelming to Double D. They stayed in their hug for several minutes, with Eddy trying to comfort him.

They eventually left their hug when Eddy could tell Double D had stopped crying, "You feel better now?" he asked.

"Y-Yes, I feel a lot better," Double D replied.

Eddy soon stood up from where he sat, "That's good. Now I can go to bed without worrying about you," he turned back to Double D with a big smile before walking off to this room, "I'll see you tomorrow morning."

Double D continued to sit there for a moment, trying to process the fact that Eddy admitted he cared about him. He eventually decided to lay down on the couch with the blanket and pillow Eddy gave him, trying to calm himself down before dozing off to sleep, "… Thank you, Eddy."
