"Hmm?" A passerby hummed in confusion.
"What's wrong?" His friend next to him asked.
"...Normally, I'd hear a racket from Fairy Tail every time I pass by the guild. But nowadays, there seems to be no sound at all." He replied.
"Oh yeah. Now that you mention it, it's kinda surprising don't you think?"
"Yep. This is the first time I have seen Fairy Tail so quiet. I wonder what could have happened?"
A lot of the Magnolia citizens who live near the Fairy Tail guild found it quite surprising that there is no ruckus coming from the guild. Fairy Tail was known for throwing beers, chairs, and even people sometimes at each other. The boisterous one among the bunch was Natsu, the pink-headed fire mage who always was the initiator of the many brawls in the guild. Now, they couldn't hear anything.
It may not be obvious to the non-guild members but it was very obvious that their new behavior was due to Natsu's disappearance. And the most affected one out of all was Erza Scarlet, the famed Titania. She would normally be very serious about her disciplinary duties in the guild but now it seems she didn't care at all. Not that there was any disciplinary action needed.
Several months ago, on the day Natsu left, Erza came to know that he harbored romantic feelings for her. She became conflicted after that revelation. But then Natsu claims that he is leaving the guild permanently and may never come back. Obviously, Erza didn't like it if Natsu was not there at the guild. Not there next to her. She very much cared for Natsu, probably more than she did for Gray, despite her attitude towards them. But then Natsu says that they are no longer friends.
Erza was pretty sure her heart stopped beating when he said those words because she never expected Natsu to say such words. And to her of all people. They were really close to each other, to the point they could be mistaken for siblings. She thought that they would never become anything more than best friends.
But she regretted that thought because when Natsu left her there at the station, she realized just how much Natsu meant to her.
Initially, she used to lament and mourn by her lonesome because of what had transpired at the Tower of Heaven. Now she mourns every night, thinking about Natsu and hoping he would come back. Every night, Natsu's words would repeat in her head and she could never get them out of her head, even if she wanted to. She blamed herself for not realizing it soon enough. For not knowing her own feelings.
As a result, Erza has never been the same since Natsu left. Her relationship with Jellal never went any further. She broke it off, telling him that she wanted to be alone. Much to her surprise, Jellal already knew what was actually going on with her. He understood and left it at that.
From then on, Erza made it her mission to find Natsu and bring him back to the guild. Back to her.
But finding him proved to be quite a tedious task. He was never in any of the places she thought she might find him. Even after coming across the people that Natsu met, she never found him.
She could only call herself lucky when she actually found him. And not in the way she expected.
"Haaah, So cold" Erza commented to herself as she shivered slightly. She was currently trekking up a mountain, her destination being the very top. She had heard rumors of a pink-haired man living up on this mountain. She wanted to confirm those rumors for herself. Natsu wasn't the only pink-haired human out there in the world and any rumor that had mentioned his hair color, Erza would go find out about it herself. And so far, none of the pink-haired people she met were Natsu. And she's hoping that this time it won't be the same.
After finally reaching the top, she found a rather small house. Approaching it, she requipped her sword just in case things took a bad turn. She reached the door and knocked three times.
No answer. She knocked again.
Still no answer.
'Okay then' Erza opened the door, surprised that it was unlocked already. She went inside and found no one in the small space.
There was a bed, a table next to it, another door to her left, lamps at the four corners of the house, a mat at the foot of the bed.
A simple setup for a single person. It looked neat and tidy. However, there was no one occupying the place.
Erza sighed in disappointment. 'Not again' She thought. She then made her way out of the house and closed the door. She started walking down the mountain.
On the way, she came across a cave that she noticed when she was going up the mountain, but didn't pay much attention to it. Curiosity getting the better of her, she slowly walked towards the cave. Peeking in from the side, she saw nothing but darkness. She then walked into the cave, her sword at the ready.
"What are you doing here, human?" A bellowing voice suddenly spoke, catching Erza off guard for a bit.
"Who's there?!" Erza shouted pointing her sword at the darkneas in front of her. "Show yourself!"
Like she demanded, the owner of the voice revealed himself by a fire suddenly lighting up the entire cave. Erza was shocked to see the being in front of her.
"A dragon?" Thats right. An enormous dark blue dragon lay sitting in front of her.
"What? Never seen a dragon before?" The dragon said in an amusing tone.
"I have, but your kind are really rare nowadays." Erza replied, still shocked.
"Thats true. But back to my question. What are you doing here?"
"... I'm looking for someone." Erza answered after a bit of silence.
"A friend?"
"Yes."
"Does this friend have a name?" The dragon asked.
"You wouldn't know him anyway but his name his Natsu Dragneel." She replied. She didn't know why this dragon was asking her a personal question.
"Why are you looking for him?"
"That's none of your business." Erza sternly replied.
"Fair enough. I was just curious. And I've never held a conversation with a human before so pardon my intrusion." Erza was surprised that the dragon wasn't hostile as she thought he would be.
"... You are somehow the most docile dragon I have ever met. The dragons that I have met so far were very aggressive" Erza couldn't help but compliment.
"You have my thanks. I personally do not believe in aggression. Makes you humans too scared to even talk. I'd like it if a person doesn't piss his pants whenever he sees a dragon like me."
Erza couldn't help but giggle. This dragon was also funny.
"What's your name? If I may ask."
"I go by Night Fury."
"Oh. My name is Erza Scarlet. I must go now. It was nice to meet you, Night Fury"
"The pleasure was mine. I hope you visit again. I won't be leaving this place for a while."
"Hmm. I'll think about it." Erza replied with a smile.
Just as she was about to turn and go back home, she spotted something familiar on the dragon. More specifically, the dragon's arm.
She gasped in shock. 'No way. It can't be'
"Hmm? Is there something you need?" Night Fury asked, noticing her expression.
"... Natsu?" Erza said. Night Fury flinched a bit.
"T-The person you're looking for?"
"Yeah. That's you, right?"
"You must be confused. I'm Night Fury. And I'm a dragon. I don't know any dragon by that name." Night Fury replied, although he was sweating a bit.
"No, it's no mistake. You are Natsu Dragneel. My Natsu!"
"Again, you must be confu-"
"Then explain why you have a red Fairy Tail logo on your arm?!" Erza exclaimed while pointing to his arm.
"... Ahhh, fuck. You figured it out." Night Fury, or Natsu sighed.
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" Erza shouted. She ran towards the dragon and started punching his arm on the ground but her power was that of an ant for him. He chuckled.
"You are so funny right now, Erza" Natsu said as he found Erza so cute since she was tiny.
"How in the ever peaceful Fiore are you a dragon?!" Erza asked. She stopped punching him.
"I removed the antibodies that were preventing me from becoming a dragon."
"Why?!"
"I wanted to try it out."
"Gah!" Erza fell face first to the ground, anime comedy style. "So simple. Is there no better reason?"
"Well, I did want to get stronger too. So there's that."
".. *sigh* How have you been?" Erza sighed before asking.
"I'm doing good Erza. But why even come all the way to see me?"
"I'm here to bring you back home."
"... Erza... You know why I can't come back, right?"
"I know but... it's different now. Me and Jellal... We're no longer a couple."
Natsu was surprised. "If it's because of what I said that day, then I'm sorry."
"No no. It's not because of you. It's because of me. I deliberately broke off our relationship."
"Why? You were very happy with him. You were smiling a lot. He made you feel like you were you."
"I was happy with him. But I was devastated when you told me to forget about you!" Erza exclaimed.
"... "
"Jellal was the man I blindly admired. He was the hope that I held onto when I was a child. That's why I had a crush on him back then. But after meeting you, my whole life changed. I realized that you were the one being there with me every time I was depressed. When I was in tears, you would be there to cheer me up. You were always by my side. I never realized that you were the one I loved.
That's why... I want you back home. I want you. Because I love you." Erza finally poured her honest feelings out.
"... If you are trying to trick me into coming back home, I will not fall for it. I don't need your pity." Natsu replied.
"It's not! I'm being honest here! I really love you Natsu!"
"You're saying that because you want me back just so I can get hurt by seeing you and Jellal together, right?"
"That is not my intention. I love you too much for that!" Erza said desperately.
"How am I supposed to believe you?" Natsu asked.
"... Can you transform into a human?"
"Yes"
"Then please do" Erza requested.
Natsu sighed and slowly transformed back into his human form.
However, the moment he finished, he didnt expect Erza to smash her lips onto his.
She broke apart and said, "Does that work?"
"I'm... not sure"
Erza again kissed him on the lips, surprising him again.
"How about now?"
"Ummm... "
She kissed him again.
"Now?"
"W-Wait-" Natsu couldn't answer as Erza kissed him again. Natsu pushed her off of him as he blushed.
"OKAY! I get it. Stop doing that."
"Nope. I'm gonna kiss you till you believe in me." Erza grinned and was about to kiss him again but Natsu stopped her by her shoulders.
"STOP! I believe you okay!"
"You sure?"
"Yes yes yes!" Natsu just wanted some space to think.
"Hehehe~" Erza giggled.
"That's playing dirty. Hmph" Natsu pouted.
"Well, you wouldn't believe me so I had to prove it to you by showing my love to you." Erza retorted.
"... Fair enough... You're telling me the truth right?"
"Want me to show you again?" Erza asked as she smiled mischievously.
"NO THANK YOU!" Natsu exclaimed out of fear which made Erza laugh again. At least he hasn't changed that much.
"So are you coming back?" Erza asked.
"Maybe. The only reason I left was because of my issue."
"For what it's worth, I'm really sorry," Erza said solemnly.
"It's not your fault. It's my heritage as a dragon. We don't feel good when we see the one we love getting chummy with one another. We literally become depressed."
Erza could understand why he left now. But she still blamed herself for her blindness to the truth.
"Everyone misses you, you know? The guild hasn't been the same ever since you disappeared." Erza said.
"Huh? Do they really miss me? Even Gray?" Natsu asked.
"He won't admit it but he does. More so than everybody else. And...I miss you too." Erza replied. She hugged him after she spoke.
"...Hmph, don't start being all teary now. You're only gonna make me want to come back." Natsu sniffed a bit. He was near to the point of crying.
"Well, that's sort of my plan." Erza replied, hugging him tighter with a smile. "Please come back Natsu. You know your home belongs in Fairy Tail, right?"
"...*sigh* Alright fine. I'll come back." Natsu finally gave in. Erza just smiled brightly, nuzzling her head into Natsu's chest. Natsu wrapped his arms around Erza.
"Erza, you actually heard me say this before but I'll say it again. I love you. And I uhhh. I umm..*ahem* I-I hope you can...be my girlfriend." Natsu openly spoke his heart. Erza giggled before breaking the hug and wrapping her arms around Natsu's neck.
"Heh, I never gave you my reply back then right? Well here it is.
I love you too Natsu. And yes, I'll be your girlfriend." Erza said before the new couple kissed to seal their relationship.
Erza then broke the kiss and gazed sternly at Natsu, "But I'll have you know. I don't share with other girls. I want you all to myself. And I don't want you associating with other girls without my permission."
Natsu chuckled happily, "You don't have to worry about me cheating on you. I chose you as my life partner. So I won't be swayed or seduced by other girls even if they use a seduction magic or technique." He said proudly.
"Oh? Is that a fact?" Erza smirked mischievously at him.
"Yes it is. Just try and make me look at another girl sexually and I won't be able to be entranced at all. Let's say for example, Mira. She's beautiful, sexy, very kind and certainly every guy's type of woman. But I'm not attracted to her at all because I love you." Natsu said with a proud smile. Erza meanwhile couldn't handle the blood rushing to her face. Steam could be seen blowing out of her head. Natsu's words were having too much of an impact.
"Keep talking and I won't be able to hold myself back from french kissing you." Erza said with a blush but also a smirk.
"Hehehe, I gotta give compliments where it's due right?"
"Oh stop you." Erza lightly slapped his shoulder. "Let's go home shall we?"
"Yeah, let's" Natsu nodded.
"Although, it's gonna be a long while."
"Hmm, I have a better idea." Natsu said before moving back from Erza a bit. He then transformed into his dragon form which still amazed Erza.
"...I totally forgot about that." Erza laughed before Natsu gently picked her and placed her on his head, giving her the best view.
"Okay, get ready." Natsu crouched down and spread his four majestic wings out to it's full wing span.
"Here...we...GOOOOO!" Natsu launched up into the night sky with a mighty push of his wings. Erza grunted while grabbing his horns to stay on his head without falling off.
The wind blew in her face as Natsu flew at high speeds towards Fairy Tail. She smiled and raised herself a bit and spread her arms wide open.
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOHOHOHOHOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Natsu exclaimed along with Erza as she laughed like never before.
Natsu could rest easy knowing that he finally got to be with his crush. Erza could finally be at peace with herself after knowing her true feelings.
Erza had a thought once. That it would be too late to bring her Natsu back. But their current situation now was far from the truth.
It was never too late.
A/N: Enjoy the first short story. I'm gonna be on hiatus for a month from now on. Gotta focus on my exams to not fail.
I'm on the alert list of at least a hundred of you guys. That means something to me, you know that? It's not a big number but I'm kinda happy that some of you guys enjoy my stories. So with that said, send me any requests you guys might have. One guy requested me for a story but I couldn't do it due to some reasons. So if any of you guys have an idea in mind, PM me and we can work it out. So long as I get to write in my style.
Also, I started reading the light novel of Highschool DxD. I wanna get a proper understanding of the story so I can write my upcoming crossover. I'm barely managing so far because I really get put off by Issei's pervert nature. But his heroic moments make it all worth it.
See you guys next month maybe.
Dragon out
