Neb: I do not own Ducktales. Last chapter we had Louie explore Albert's past. He found out that Albert's hatred goes beyond the deal that Louie backed out of. Despite his initial plan of tricking Albert into leaving his family alone, he now plans on learning more of Albert's past. This next chapter we will be following Huey and Violet to the comic book store.
"So each turn you earn one more play point than you initially start out with," Huey explained. "For instance I start with one play point and I use it to summon a fairy."
"I see," Violet nodded. "And how do you deal damage?"
"Well you attack your opponent and they declare response," Huey continued. "If no response can be made, they take a damage. Once they've taken five damage they lose. The first turn player can't attack, but they can set up their field however."
"But they only have one play point to set up their field," Violet pointed out. "It would be easier going second then, given you can both draw and attack."
"Not every card in the game cost play points," Huey smiled. "For instance my sword of gnomes doesn't cost any play points. Meaning I can play it and equip it to my fairy locking my opponent out of monsters that cost three or more play points to play. Not to mention if this was my golden fairy instead, I would make it so you can only use two of your play points."
"But sense this is the beginning of the game playing the golden fairy wouldn't make sense," Violet concluded. She had bought a structure deck of her own and a few packs to upgrade it. The new cards that were released were goblins, which she was fascinated by the underground dwelling creatures. Their backstory is that they come out at night and raid villages, meanwhile they retreat to their nest within caves or tunnels. Violet looked over her cards and figured the strategy was to get the hobgoblins out in order to steal items from the opponent. Meanwhile the regular goblins were meant to build up a fortress in order to protect her health. "I like it, it's like having your own society under your control."
"Right!", Huey grinned as he opened a few of his own packs. "Hey I pulled an Omega Rare!"
"I hear that's worth money," Violet commented. "Which card did you get?"
"King's Plated Armor," Huey read off. "As long as this card is attached to a unit, any damage you take is halved."
"With a card like that and your sword of gnomes," Violet began. "I think picking the item thief deck was a good move on my part."
"Plus goblins don't cost too much play points either," Huey pointed out. "I would only lock you out of most on your hobgoblins, given they cost three to play."
"Well this has been somewhat educational," Violet nodded. "But I have other questions that don't involve the game."
"Questions like what?", Huey wondered.
"Do you plan on facing Albert again?", Violet asked. "If so, why? Is it about some sense of honor?"
"To reclaim my honor?", Huey wondered. "Yeah, that's partially it. I came to that tournament to win, but he didn't go as far as just beating me. He made me humiliate Lena. I was his target, so why go after her?"
"That's my question as well," Violet nodded. "Although, I'm also curious on how such a rivalry formed. Of course there's the issues he has with Louie, but I'm not sure that level of pettiness would cause the boy to go after Louie's family instead of Louie himself. His motivations seem unclear."
"We've run into unreasonable villains in the past," Huey pointed out.
"None that were our age though," Violet continued. "Plus each of the, so to say, villains had their own own motivations. Magica wanted her magic back so she targeted Lena. Glomgold wanted revenge so he generally tries to kill Scrooge. The Beagles are fueled by greed so they go after you and your brothers because you are easy targets. Yet this boy had an issue with Louie, but he instead went after you."
"So what are you say?", Huey wondered. "Did I do something to him first? I've never met him before?"
"He had told Dewey and Webby that he was planning on fighting them, but for how long? It couldn't have been after his deal with Louie went south, there was barely any time that had passed between then and the Duck Calling tournament. He wasn't just after you he has a problem with all three of you is my conclusion."
"Well.. do you know why?"
"Unfortunately I do not," Violet sighed. "But I am very confident in my theory that it's something personal. That Albert despite seeming calm and collected when playing the card game and when fighting is driven by his emotions. Quite possibly in the same way you are."
"We won't know for sure until we see him again," Huey admitted.
"Then I suggest we throw another wager to him," Violet decided. "We challenge Albert to a Duck Calling game and if one of us beats him, he gives us answers."
"What makes you think he will accept?", Huey wondered. "What makes you think even if he accepts he'll be honest?"
"He used your honor as a Junior Woodchuch as a means to push you into asking Lena out," Violet explained. "Though the move he made was a dirty one, it does suggest he himself is bound by a similar sense of honor. Otherwise he would have assumed you'd just say no. As for making him accept the challenge, we simply gamble a magic item to him. One that isn't already in your Uncle's possession."
"Do you have any?", Huey asked.
"No," Violet shook her head. "But your an adventurer and I've done my research. We can leave it as an I.O.U, and find one for him. His choice."
"That all seems risky," Huey admitted.
"Indeed," Violet nodded. "However, once we know what drove him to come after you and your family, it'll be a lot easier to resolve that conflict."
"I guess your right," Huey nodded.
"Now let's play a couple games," Violet decided after she finished sleeving her deck. "If either of us are going to win against him, we will both need plenty of practice."
