Her hand stung slightly as her body limped forward. "Almost there!" Cassandra yelled in her direction. Grunting, she was now bent on one knee, struggling to fight against the rift. "There! Close now!" Eva forced her hand up as the energy was absorbed into her hand. This part didn't hurt, but when the demons are around it becomes a struggle. Her fist clutched closed on the last rift.

We're safe. She sighed, both her hands straining on her knees. It felt like she was going to fall forward. She felt Cassandra at her side as she used her strength to help her lean against her. "You did it, you're safe." Eva nodded as she latched onto the Seeker, who scooped Eva up. Closing rifts always took a toll on her physically. She wasn't strong like Cass and Bull. If they had the anchor, they wouldn't get weak so easily. They would be able to close the rifts with no issues.

"Fascinating." A warm voice caught her attention as she looked before the others. A man that looked… Oh wow, he's so pretty! He's sparkly!" This man was tall and tan and beautiful. She giggled just a bit, feeling a slight warmth in her cheeks.

"My, it's true!" The man said and bent to her level. His eyes were so gentle and warm, calming. Eva didn't realize she was gaping at him until he threw back his head and laughed. She felt a rush of heat in her cheeks as she tore her gaze away. "You're so shiny," Eva said quietly. His laugh echoed the walls again. A voice like honey, like mama. So warm…so calming.

"You have no idea how to wield this power, do you?" He asked her, her blush deepened but this time it was out of shame. "No, I don't. I know the demons must die first before the rifts can be closed. But that's all."

"We're looking into it," Cassandra said with annoyance. It was clear she didn't trust this man. Not only her, but Solas too. Both had the most cynical expressions on their faces. This won't end well. Eva sighed. Everyone was different in the Inquisition. People hated her, others hated Bull, a lot didn't like dwarfs. But there were others that loved them too. It was weird. It always felt weird.

"We got your note!" Eva chimed in with a smile. She needed to defuse this situation quickly. "Where is Felix?" she asked as she gathered small bits of demon rags. It'll help with their examinations for weaknesses against demons. Though it always grossed her out as she shoved the remnants in her small bag.

Eva looked back at Cassandra and the stranger. It looked like she was about to murder him. Eva sighed, her head dipping down. Cassandra's temper was one not to mess with.

The stranger was the first to give in as he tossed his hands into the air. "I intend you no harm and was the one who sent for you. Dorian Pavus is my name, pleasure." Eva wandered over near Solas as they stood behind Cassandra. Her hand never left the hilt of her sword. "He is using a strange type of magic, one I do not recognize, but his target is the Inquisitor."

Eva didn't realize how tightly she was clinging onto Solas at that moment. Who was after her and why? Solas bent down and lifted her into his arms. She instantly grasped onto him, her body trembling as they listened to the stranger. This person he was describing did not seem nice. Why was he after her to begin with? It doesn't matter, she thought as Solas began to rub her back. She was still a target. Her hand shot out instantly to stop Solas. Her hand was gripping his tightly, shaking uncontrollably, perspiration already in hand and down her forehead. I'll always be a target. This creature won't stop until I die.

Solas watched as Eva desperately clung to him, to the point where there would be bruises to find later. She knowns… His grip in the palm of her hand tightened. I won't let it happen again. I am all she has. She is all I have. He swore an oath from memory, his magical abilities allowing him to sign his life to this child. To raise her, protect her, train her, but above all, to form an unbreakable bond of protection and love. That thing will not end her life, so help me. There was rebuilding to do, wrongs to right and it first began with her training in knowledge, the truth of her ancestors. She was clanless now. The knowledge can be passed down safely. We begin upon return. This I vow.

A rush of breath overcame Eva as her senses were overwhelmed with a feeling of both cold and warmth. It settled into her muscles and her bones. But oddly enough, she felt as if she were tethered to something. Maybe a side effect of the stupid anchor… I'll ask later.

Varric, oddly enough, witnessed the protective display Chuckles let out. In all his time of knowing the man, he never once reacted like such. Eva too, had a particularly horrified expression. Can't blame her on that account.

"Well then, you know where I'll be."

Dorian shot a smile at Cassandra and at everyone else as he leisurely walked away, snagging an apple along the way. "Felix," he said as he to look back at the group, but only one man is who Dorian was speaking to. The once charming face became a somber one, "don't get yourself killed." It was the only thing left he said before disappearing into the shadows.

"There are worst things than dying, Dorian." The man who had helped them only smiled in response. Varric knew something was very wrong.

"Seeker, we should head back to Haven." Varric placed Bianca back in her holster.

"Finally, you have a good idea." Cassandra remarked. Laughter filled the otherwise creepy and empty Chantry.
