Forget Forgiveness

Prologue

It's over

I walked up to my boyfriend's house. I could tell something was wrong as soon as I went inside. The place was a mess, unusual for his mother Sue even with two teenagers living in the house. "Seth? Leah?" I frowned.

Seth's voice called through his bedroom door. "Go away, Sofie."

I tugged the doorknob, but it was locked. I tapped the door in confusion. "Seth, let me in. I'm confused.

"Sofie, I said GO AWAY!" He yelled, seemingly throwing something at the door. I screamed. "It's over, Sofie. You're not allowed to come over anymore. We're not friends anymore."

Tears streamed down my cheeks. "Seth, I thought we were, like… Dating."

"I'm not allowed to date! I don't want to date. I want you to go away." Something else slammed against the door. This time I couldn't be sure, but I was almost sure it was his body.

"But… I really like you." I cried.

Another slam against the door sent me falling back towards the front door in fear. "Don't come back!" He yelled, and I didn't realize how very sad he sounded. I only heard my heartbeat in my ears as I ran home.

I started packing that night. If Seth never wanted to see me again, I was going to make sure he never did. My mom watched in confusion as I made the decision to move in with my father in sunny Los Angelas that night.

She ended up following me there a month later to live in an apartment my dad paid for to be able to use her as a free babysitter when he was out of town on business. I spent the next four years trying to fit into LA. I promised myself I would never go back to a place where my friends seemed to hate me.
