Chap 1 : Encounter

Spring breeze coldly blew cherry petals, knocking it off from its place. Birds chirped as the blue skies and the sun cheered the day. The new semester is about to start, bringing some fresh air to people's lives.

Shunten Doji, the 2nd grader of Miyako HS, also known as the strongest candidate of Doji family's heir, the well known yakuza family in Kansai region. Stood by his side, his childhood friend, also his right hand man, Ibaraki Doji, the Devil Hand, he was well known for his martial arts, karate, even won the first place several times during karate competitions. The duo of Doji family whom no one dared to challenge.

"Shu, are you sure you have everything with you?" asked Ibaraki, worried that his friend might forget something on their first day of the semester.

"Don't worry, I have everything I need," Shuten replied confidently.

Somehow, I think he might forget something… Ibaraki's thoughts were trailed off when they entered their new class to be greeted by a bunch of girls who were waiting for him.

"Ibaraki-kun, we are going to be classmates this year, I'm so happy!" chirped one of the girls.

"Ibaraki-kun, where's your seat? Let me sit next to you!" another girl giggled.

"Popular among the girls as always, eh," Shuten furrowed his brow, annoyed by the fact that Ibaraki was far more famous than he was. "Owh, well, it doesn't matter as long as I have my Momiji-chan beside me," he grinned, but his grins soon vanished when he saw his so-called crush, Momiji, was among the Ibaraki fans.

The sea of fans were soon dissolved when Seimei-sensei entered the class, "Good morning," he greeted calmly. Momiji, who was fangirl-ing on Ibaraki, soon had her eyes glued to the new homeroom teacher who was dangerously stunning.

Every girl had their jaw dropped and in the brick of drooling. Taking their seats obediently, the class became silent for a moment before the girls murmurs began to start.

Great, another rival for me, the thoughts just popped up in Shuten's brain. He and the other boys took their seats with some kind of jealousy knowing the fact that their homeroom teacher was an ikemen and the entire class' attention was switched to him.

Realising the growing tensions, Seimei started, "Nice to meet you, I'm Abe no Seimei, your new homeroom teacher, I'm sure you already know me since I was a replacement teacher since last year. New semester, new classmates, wish to work together, everyone." He grinned awkwardly, before opening a notification letter in his hands. Blinking, he shoved the letter back in its place. "We will also have a new transfer student join us this year," he continued, "Please, come in."

With that said, a boy entered the classroom. A raven haired teen whose height barely passed Shuten's height, with a pair of purple eyes, a bokuto, wooden sword, dangling from his back. "Onikiri, pleased to meet you," with a poker face the boy introduced himself.

Watching the new figure, Ibaraki tensed a little, knowing exactly who this new guy was. Shuten was aware of his sudden tensions, but ignored it. He knew well that sometimes Ibaraki has the tendency to overreact to things that he considered as a threat.

Time passed and the day ended peacefully without any issues. Shuten was ready to leave, making his way out of the class, he glanced at Ibaraki's seat, surprised to find an empty seat with Ibaraki nowhere to be seen. It was rare for him to disappear without a word, usually he would always follow him around, including toilet break. Shrugging it off he made his way out of the class.

Somewhere behind the school building, Ibaraki's figure could be seen, standing gracefully, with his white hair swaying when the spring wind blew hard. His red eyes scanned the area, glaring at the other figure in front of him.

"Why did you come to this school?" he asked, trying to maintain his calmness.

The figure in front of him smirked then brought his right hand to rest on his waist. "You should have known better why I came to this school, Ibaraki," Onikiri's smirk got wider with excitement.

"You know you can never overthrow the Doji family as long as Shuten is here."

Onikiri's smirk disappeared from his handsome face, his eyes narrowed and his lips curled slightly. His aura darkened around him when he heard Shuten's name mentioned. "Very well, I just need to get rid of his presence and take over Doji family," he started with a deep sigh, "won't be a difficult task for me."

Ibaraki knew well that Onikiri, Minamoto no Onikiri, was the most skilled assassin among Minamoto's. With his infamous swordsmanship techniques, he could kill and get rid of literally anything or anyone who threatened the Minamoto family. He was trained by Minamoto no Yorimitsu, the head of the Minamoto family himself. Even though he was a strong fighter himself, Ibaraki didn't want to mess with this guy who earned his name, Minamoto's blade. It would be reckless of him.

"You know you have to go through me if you wanna get to Shuten,"after a long pause, Ibaraki dared him calmly, trying to sound intimidating.

Onikiri giggled childishly, then took a few steps forward, getting closer to Ibaraki, making him tensed, but he didn't move, trying to stand his ground. "Would be my pleasure seeing you try," Onikiri whispered, Ibaraki's brow furrowed, sweat made its way down his face.

With that said, Onikiri patted Ibaraki's tensed shoulder and made his way to only God knows where, leaving Ibaraki alone. Breathing heavily, Ibaraki felt somehow relieved that Onikiri had left and burdened at the same time.

He has to get stronger and protect Shuten at any cost. Shuten was his only friend since they were children and not to mention he was assigned as his right hand, his most reliable subordinate. Gritted his teeth, he clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white.

Days passed since Ibaraki and Onikiri encountered each other and nothing seemed to happen. Even though it was peaceful, Ibaraki couldn't let his guard down, was overly sensitive almost all the time, and became clingier to Shuten than ever.

Annoyed by Ibaraki's attitude, Shuten, often seen to avoid and hide from him, didn't even try to find the reason behind Ibaraki's annoying behaviours. Pinching his nose bridge, Ibaraki could only sighed heavily, daring to tell nothing about Onikiri's intention. The least thing he would ever want was to make his friend worry over something unnecessary and lose his focus to inherit his throne over the Doji family.

Smirking sinisterly, Onikiri watched Ibaraki who was distressed from the corner of his eyes. You're an interesting fella, indeed… he thought to himself. His smirks got wider, "Well, gotta test out something." Making his way out of the classroom, Onikiri walked calmly to Shuten's whereabouts.
