Chapter 1: Fears Come True

D'Artagnan and his Brothers had just been on a mission to deliver a package to the port from the Queen. Everything had been fine on the journey there. But D'Artagnan should have known things could never go right for him.

Especially at this time of year. The anniversary of HIS Pack's death was upon him. The anniversary of his Mother and siblings' deaths. All he wanted to do was shift and run until he couldn't think anymore.

But it seemed his human Pack felt something was wrong and were trying to cheer him up without prying and asking questions. As they knew that they all had demons and things that made them act a certain way at certain times of year.

So, they were doing everything to cheer up their Youngest.

They had just camped a couple of hours away from Paris. It seemed his human Pack wanted to give him some time to allow him to grieve in the private of their family. Which was fine with D'Artagnan. He didn't know what he would do without them.

But D'Artagnan instincts were screaming at him something was wrong. His eyes were scanning the area looking for what his wolf was sensing.

His Brothers seemed to notice something was wrong and they rose from their positions.

"What is it Brother?" Athos asks quietly.

D'Artagnan liked the word brother. Ever since dealing with Milady, Athos had been nearly sticking to his side like glue and calling him Brother. He knew his Elder Brother felt guilty for shooting him. But what Athos didn't know was that D'Artagnan has to sneaky tamper with Athos pistol so it would actually hurt him. But he wore that scar with pride.

"Something is not right", D'Artagnan murmurs as he casts out his senses.

They trusted their Brothers instincts. As he had nearly always been right when something was wrong. They started to draw weapons.

But in his grief D'Artagnan had let his guard down and his warning was about too late as howls filled the air and out come giant werewolves. No D'Artagnan recognised them as Mongrels. Due to their fur and their crazed and savage eyes.

They growled dangerously at them and he saw his Brothers were frozen. Not wanting to make sudden moves.

D'Artagnan looked at his Brothers and saw their eyes widen. D'Artagnan felt like he failed as he hadn't been able to warn them in time. And the Gascon/Werewolf had fixed their weapons, well their guns, to be able to hurt his kind. He knew that was forbidden by the Council but he felt better that they could protect themselves.

And that only meant ONE option.

Swallowing his fear.

D'Artagnan growled dangerously at the Mongrels. And since he was farer away from his Brothers he began to run and let the wolf in him transform while on the fly. His wolf exploding violently out of him. Normally it would be a bit slower and controlled.

He snarls viciously.

"Leave here Mongrels and I'll let you live", D'Artagnan tells them.

They growled at him.

"They are ours. They smell good", the Leader/Alpha says.

"They are MINE!" D'Artagnan snarls standing his ground.

There was no way he was going to fail again!

The Alpha snaps a growl while trothing at the mouth looking truly mad. And launches himself at D'Artagnan.

D'Artagnan basically roars and rears before meeting the charge of the Mongrel. They clash in a spectacular fashion and were accidently thrown into the Three Humans. Unknown to D'Artagnan giving his Brothers minor injuries, without meaning too. It was a mess of sharp fangs and sharp claws. As they tore at each other.

"Yield!" D'Artagnan roars as he fights for the life of his Brothers.

His life didn't matter compared to theirs.

"Their blood smells sweat and it will be mine! We can share their blood together!" the Alpha growls.

"I will NEVER take blood from my Brothers!" D'Artagnan growls, "Fine some humanity and realise this is not the TRUE werewolf way!"

"My brethren and I will take out the human scum that seek to wipe us out!"

D'Artagnan filled that piece of information away for later. As it seemed this Pack of mongrels were not alone.

There attack on each other was uneven. Even with the alpha's madness D'Artagnan was more skilled and controlled.

And that soon became clear to the Mongrel Pack and they tried, the key word being tried here, to overwhelm him in numbers. But they soon learned that THIS werewolf wasn't one they could win against at this moment.

As D'Artagnan had done serious damage to their Pack and had just batted their attacks away or throwing them across the clearing away from the Three Humans.

The alpha decided today was not the day. But vowed this werewolf would seize the day he stood up for human scum.

Sensing the mongrels' thoughts D'Artagnan growled at him in warning and went to attack again but the Pack of Mongrels runoff.

Making D'Artagnan snarl in anger. He was going to go after them when he heard the cock of a gun. He turns with a limp. The Mongrel having gotten a lucky shot at his front paw and saw his Brothers pointing their guns at him.

He realised at the start, when he knew, the mongrels were going to attack, he didn't have time to waste. So, he didn't have time to waste on the fact that a fast shift was frightening for those that saw one.

But he saw in his Brothers eyes, as they had obviously been knocked to the ground, what he always feared around be there. As he stepped forward slowly, to his horror, a shot goes over his head.

Fear and terror of him and disgusted.

And Horror.

D'Artagnan couldn't take it and he bolted for the forest. His heart breaking and his feeling of another Pack leaving him even if it wasn't for death, threatening to break his very mind and being…

(Line Break)

The Three Musketeers were frozen in shock and horror.

Their baby Brother was a bloodthirsty…

Scarred Beast.

Who had just torn into a Pack of other werewolves without hesitation and had hurt them.

They came to the bad conclusion they didn't know D'Artagnan as well as they thought they did…
