I'm sorry guys. But this is going to be my last chapter for a while. Originally I intended to start working on this story later this year, but I just got bored and wanted to get my idea on paper. I'm happy that people are liking it.
I don't know how the manga is going to end, but whatever happens, I'll try to improve upon it in any way I can.
Anyway, on to the chapter!
Something in the arena had changed since the ending of the second fight. Water is surrounding the center from all sides. To the more smarter demigods in the audience, it exists to foreshadow one thing.
Clearing his throat, Heimdall began to announce again.
"We're headed into Round Three of Ragnarok! With both god and man in possession of both a single win and a single loss!
This round is going to decide who comes out on top! Was the first win by humanity only just a fluke… Or will they prevail again and secure a second win! Only time will tell!"
The audience began cheering as Heimdall paced back and forth.
"Following the almighty Zeus! Here is the Gods' champion for Round Three!"
Suddenly, the water began to part in front of the Gods side of the arena. Revealing a set of stairs. A blonde god carrying a trident ascends up the stairs.
"If Lord Zeus rules all the cosmos! This god rules all the seas!
He is the second of the Greek Big Three! And there exists no god in any pantheon who is more fearsome!
His name is… POSEIDON!"
There was no cheering. Poseidon looked around himself looking more disgusted than anything else. He knew the audience knew better than to cheer him on. After all, supporters are irrelevant in the face of perfect beings.
"Hmph. Just who exactly will I have the pleasure of killing today?"
From above, Loki watched from above. It was such a shame that Thor is dead. But at the end of the day, Gods still should feel free to underestimate humans… Only at their own risk. Right now he's sitting with his knees near his chest. His hands resting on his feet.
"Someone with an even worse sense of humor than Odin. I wonder how a human is going to deal with him."
Heimdall points at the sky. "The fearless human challenging the God of the Seas is… This woman!"
As the gates start to open, Heimdall couldn't help but notice the tiniest of smirks appear on Poseidon's face. "A woman? Just what were they thinking?"
Having noticed it too, Loki began to sit normally. "Well would you look at that. It looks like the God of the Seas really does have a sense of humor after all."
Watching the introduction, Brunhilde comments. "Ready or not, here she comes."
The fighter for Round Three is seen using a small wooden boat to get to the center. She's currently hiding her identity using a straw hat.
Heimdall continues. "I've been told that there is a fire that blazes inside her soul! So strong that the embers alone are enough to bring all the world's oceans to a boil! So intense that all those that find themselves standing anywhere near will perish!"
He pauses for a moment. What he's been instructed to say is just so stupid, he could barely say it with a straight face.
"Uh, okay… She doesn't care who or what threatens the safety of the people she loves! It doesn't matter if the threat comes from the Gods themselves!"
Making it onto the stage, the fighter took her hat off and threw it into the air.
"Her name is… MAYA IKUSABA!"
"Oh?" Saitama looks down at Maya. "So this is one of the heroes? I can't wait to hear her story."
(Maya Ikusaba is a protagonist in the isekai anime, 'My One Hit Kill Sister.')
Maya put her right hand on her hip as she looked at the crowd.
"Wow. They weren't kidding. This really is the ultimate showdown."
Heimdall announces. "Now I know whay you're all thinking… 'Where is her weapon?' Well, I've been told that she IS the weapon…
Without any further ado… Let's start Round Three of Ragnarok! Poseidon representing the gods… and Maya representing the human race!"
He blows the Ghallarhorn. Officially starting the third round.
Maya smirks at Poseidon. "Just by looking at you, I got you all figured out. You rely on that trident of yours to kill me when I get in striking distance…"
Poseidon says nothing. He's not even looking her in the eye.
"Well… I have a solution for that… But I think I'd like to play a little first."
It was then that Poseidon heard the sound of rushing wind. This was something he didn't expect facing off against an unarmed human. He hears her begin to shout. "Onee-"
He couldn't help but tilt his head to the side. His curiosity got the best of him. "Onee?"
"WIND CUTTER!"
Poseidon managed to dodge just in time. What Maya had just done was launch what he could only describe as air that had been highly pressurized by some kind of wind magic. Had he not moved out of the way in time, his head would have been split open.
These warriors who had come here from other universes were really starting to get on his nerves. It didn't matter where they came from. Humans are incapable of perfection. They shouldn't be able to hurt a God in any way.
Human beings came from the dirt while Gods originated from divine power. This woman in front of him needed to be put in her place.
He rushes forward. Speed walking. Earning a comment from Heimdall.
"Poseidon, a true god of gods, is actually advancing on his own!"
He moves to strike Maya with his trident, but she moves out of the way. As he saw her jump in the air, he couldn't keep up. She landed on the other side of the arena. Widening the distance between them.
"Good try, but I'm not gonna let you get me that easily." Said Maya as she smirked at the sea god. "It's my turn again… I learned this move just before arriving here!"
Poseidon braced himself for whatever was coming his way. He plans to not only dodge whatever projectile attracts Maya plans to conjure up, but also leap forward and attack while doing so. All it took was a moment and Poseidon came up with 12 different ideas on how to kill her from where he is standing. He tightens his grip on his weapon.
Maya reaches out her hand. "Onee… STEAL!" It began to illuminate.
Wasting no time, Poseidon leapt forward ready to kill her. He looks directly in her eyes as he closed the distance. But never in his life could he ever predict that one moment he was in possession of his divine weapon…
Only to have it vanish from his hand in only a nanosecond. "Eh?"
"I… I can't believe it, folks!" Heimdall shouts to the audience.
"Maya here had just used a special kind of magic that snatches weapons that have been pointed at her! Poseidon's trident is now in her hands!
Whatever will Poseidon do!?"
Twirling the divine weapon in her right hand, Maya's smirk turned into a smug grin. At this point, Poseidon is in complete disbelief over what had just happened. He's making a face that no one alive, man or god, had ever seen him make before.
"Oh yes. Whatever will you do without this weapon of yours? I'm quite curious… Because I haven't even begun to fight!"
"Wow." Saitama looks down with a smile on his face. "This Maya girl is really something."
I know I made a reference to Konosuba in this chapter. It really was the best I could come up with. Look forward to the next chapter. Coming sometime this year, I guess.
