Liz and Maizie walked in the darkness, their torches lit. The light showed they were inside a chamber. The bottom littered with bones of small animals and humans.

"Ugh…" Maizie exclaimed as her flashlight gazed over a human skull. "Why did I accept this job?"

Liz snickered, "Well…the benefits?"

Maizie rolled her eyes, "You think the benefits are worth stepping on a human skull?"

"I mean…" Liz said as she aimed the flashlight at Maizie. She raised her shoulders with a sheepish look. "I guess it depends on the kind of benefits."

Maizie stopped and aimed her flashlight at Liz, "You weren't talking about health benefits, were you?"

Liz smiled and shook her head. Maizie groaned and her face shifted to an expression of disgust.

"And now I have that image burned in my head for the rest of my life."

Liz's laugh rang through the chamber.

"Ugh, since you brought that up, I have a question."

Liz gave a smile, "Yeah, I know exactly what you want to ask."

Maizie raised an eyebrow, "And…?"

Liz put her torch under her arm then with both hands, gestured the width and distance of an invisible object. Maizie's eyes widened.

"No! He's that big?"

Liz nodded furiously.

"…damn." Maizie said.

With that image burned even more in her subconscious, Maizie pulled her flashlight away from Liz's smiling face to over the chamber. She sighed.

"Okay, let's get moving. We've gotta find Hellboy and the others."

Liz agreed and together they went off. It felt like forever but, it was no more than ten minutes before the chamber changed. They began to slip and slide in wet mud. The chamber became a tunnel that narrowed. Then they turned a corner and suddenly stopped.

"What's this?" Liz asked.

Their flashlight razed over pieces of wood, broken coffins, and bones. It almost blocked their way but left a small narrow area they could get through.

"I don't know, but maybe they're on the other side?" Maizie replied. She stepped forward and fit herself in the hole. "Let me see if I can get through." She squeezed herself in there and took it step by step until she stepped out of it. Liz stepped through behind her.

Maizie turned to explore the new area and her foot slipped. Liz caught her arm.

"Ugh…there's water here."

Together they stepped into the water. They had no other choice if they wanted to move forward. Liz went around Maizie and spotted a stone.

"Here. There's a stone we could stand on," Liz said as she stepped on it.

Maizie's light flickered.

"Be careful. It's slippery." Liz said.

Maizie banged her flashlight against her hand. It continued to flicker on and off.

Liz looked around with her light and her mouth dropped.

"Oh my god…"

Maizie's light finally came on and she looked around. Her eyes widened. They had unknowingly entered a large cavern. The flashlight revealed a wall covered with eggs. The kind of eggs that had attached to Hellboy's arm.

"Oh god…" Maizie whispered. The light continued to move until it stopped on a creature.

Sammael.

They watched as it gnawed on a human arm. It stopped and lifted his head towards them. A second one emerged from the water while a third raised its head from another rock area.

Maizie stepped backwards and one of them snarled.

"Liz…we gotta go."

Liz nodded and stepped off the stone and they turned but before they could take another step, a loud clanking noise erupted, and a large metal wall rose up. They were blocked.

"Shit!" Maizie exclaimed. She pulled up one of the belts and tried to pull a pin. But one of the creatures jumped. Liz dove out of the way, but Maizie was stuck. It landed in front of her, swiped its' arm and tore the belt away from her. The claws caught her arms and deep gouges appeared with blood bubbling. Myers screamed and fell backwards, her back hitting the metal wall.

"Marco, Marco, Marco! Get your big read butt over here!" Liz screamed into her comm.

Liz couldn't move towards Maizie as the creature was in between them. Maizie held her bleeding arm. Liz couldn't hear the noise above them. Sounds of something stomping echoed. The ceiling cracked. A fourth Sammeal popped up and all of them began converging on the two women. Maizie grabbed her gun and shot at one. Dust and rock fell from above. The bullets barely made a dent on the creatures. Liz watched in horror as one jumped.

"Maizie!"

The ceiling broke and down came a red figure on top a large piece of ceiling. It landed on the creature, killing it instantly. Hellboy stood up. The creatures were distracted, allowing Liz to run to Maizie. They both looked at him.

"Couldn't leave you two ladies alone," Hellboy said. He leapt over to them. He looked at Maizie and her arm.

Before either woman could reply, the creatures attacked Hellboy. He roared as he tried to fling them off his back. He pulls out his gun and managed to kill one. But as soon as it died, two eggs hatched and out grew two new Sammaels.

Maizie and Liz watched as Hellboy struggled to kill them. Liz shivered. She turned to Maizie.

"I need you to hit me."

Maizie looked up at Liz, startled. "What?!"

Liz helped Maizie up on her feet. Maizie cradled her arm.

"Hit. Me."

Hellboy's scream rang thorough the area.

Maizie looked at Liz, her mouth opening and closing.

"I trust you, Maizie. You brought me back home. I've been running too long. It's time to stop. So please…hit me."

Maizie nodded. She raised an arm.

"Are you sure?"

She nodded, "This is the only way. I love him. I can't let him go."

Maizie swung her arm and Liz's face swung to the side. A red mark appeared on her cheek. The air vibrated with heat. Maizie swallowed. Liz's eye glowed.

"Go. Now."

Liz's arm lit on fire as Maizie scrambled to find a safe place behind a large rock. Liz turned to Hellboy and the creatures. One of them lifted its head. Hellboy looked over to see Liz almost engulfed in blue, hot flames.

"Liz…" Hellboy said her name weakly.

She exploded.

The entire place lit up and flames licked at every egg and creature, incinerating it. Maizie screamed as heat licked at her but didn't burn. She closed her eyes against the bright light. Then the light went away. Hellboy groaned as he pushed off the dead bodies of the creatures. He looked up. Liz lay a few feet away, unconscious. Maizie stood up, her legs weak. She collapsed on the ground, too weak to stand. She fell unconscious. Hellboy stood up. He turned and a hammer met his face.

Hellboy lay unconscious on the ground.
