One of the first things Colin did upon returning home was to call on the Featheringtons.

"Is Penelope home?" Colin asked.

"Pen-Penelope?" Yes, of course. I'll have her meet you shortly." The butler said, and showed Colin to one of their rooms. Colin thought his name started with a 'B," but he wasn't sure.

"That would be wonderful. And, apologies, would you refresh my memory as to your name? It has been many years."

"Briarly," The butler said, surprised to be asked. Colin helped himself to most of the biscuits.

It couldn't have been more than a handful of minutes when Penelope walked in. "Colin! We weren't expecting you. When did you get back?" Penelope asked. He had missed the first few events but not the first ball. Colin stood as soon as she entered the room.

"Last night, actually, I've yet to see my family," Colin said as though it was a secret, and led her to sit next to him on the sofa. He decided not to eat the last biscuit.

"What are you doing here, then? I'm sure your mother will be ecstatic to see you back."

"Am I not welcome here? Should I leave?" Colin asked, and playfully started to stand as though he was leaving.

"No!" Penelope exclaimed. " Of course, you are always welcome here. I'm just surprised is all - a good surprise."

"I'm glad to hear it. I've come here first thing to inquire about your social calendar this season. I'd hoped to match it so we can spend as much time together as possible."

"Am I dreaming?" Penelope asked with a dazed look in her eyes.

"No? Why do you think that?"

"I could have sworn you just asked for my social calendar," Penelope said with a light shake of her head.

"I did?" Colin said, confused.

"Oh! Of course. I'll write down the events Felicity and I plan to attend so far for you." Penelope stepped over to the desk and pulled out paper, feather, and ink to begin copying it down. As Penelope began writing, she asked Colin about his recent travels.

As he chattered about Italy, Penelope felt confused by the whole visit. Once she finished, she gave Colin a meticulous copy of the events.

"Are you heading to your family's place, next?" she asked.

"Yes, and I'll see you at," he glanced down, "the Danbury ball tonight. Have a good rest of the day." He left.

"Who was that?" Felicity asked as she entered the room and plopped down where Colin had been sitting.

"Colin Bridgerton."

"That's odd. What did he want?" Felicity asked, grabbing the only biscuit left.

"Our social calendar - apparently, he plans to join all the events we're attending," Penelope replied.

"Really? Wait, Colin? He's the one you write to occasionally?" Felicity paused. "He's handsome. You could do worse."

"For all I know, he could be interested in you," Penelope teased and grabbed the half-eaten biscuit out of her hands.

"Hey! That was mine!" Felicity complained as Penelope finished it in one bite. "And, not a chance, it's not me that's exchanging letters with the man."
