First off, let me just say that I'm writing this immediately after publishing the last chapter. Normally I don't publish anything I write (usually onto Scribblehub, decided to use Fanfiction for once) until I've written multiple chapters, hence the disclaimer from last chapter.

Second, I'm altering how many Stats Lilith gets per level. This will change between classes, but for now she will get 2 INT, 2 CHA, and 1 WIS per level, but now she'll only get 1 STR every odd level. All classes will still grow all stats, just some classes grow certain stats faster. Except Luck, only certain classes have a natural Luck growth.

I'm still working out the specifics of the System because a lot of thought goes into this and I've overlooked multiple things.

Also, I forgot to double the Charisma gain from the stat points, so that'll be fixed in this chapter.

We'll get to the main world (HPxDxD crossover world) by the next chapter at the earliest, and the chapter after that by the latest. I want to get to that point quickly, so sorry if this story seems a bit…. Rushed.

Though I will say I'm unsatisfied with the end of this chapter, but it also feels too natural for me

And finally, my upload rate will be a chapter every 3-4 days. I'm trying to write at least 1.5k words a day and I want the minimum chapter length to be 5k words. I may not always reach that goal, I won't force them to be longer if a chapter comes to a natural end, but I'll try.

I own nothing but the phone I'm typing this on and my OCs.

Let us begin.

===Chapter001:First_Hunt===

I found a clean shirt! Two of them even! This means both me and Marietta (my new name for my Marionette) can have one! I'm currently wearing a large black one that goes down to my knees, while the other one is clearly for a child younger than me, as it's a nice pink shirt that fits them perfectly. Now all I need is a set of shoes for myself!

You see, it's been roughly 6 hours since I've entered this house and I've only finally finished scavenging through it. It's a simple 2 floor log cabin that a family clearly used as a summer getaway. It's actually quite sturdy despite its worn down appearance, so as such, I'm planning on making this my main base for a while, at least until I can find a better place. I have a strong feeling that it will be a while before I can do that, though.

I've seen a few zombies wandering about in the Forest, but I've avoided them and stayed in the house. I can't afford for my marionette to break, not yet, and it's right arm is already cracked and splintering. I can't repair it nor replace it yet, so I'm stuck for now. I'm stuck in multiple ways as to leave the house I need a reliable weapon, to find a reliable weapon I need to leave the house. And I have to leave the house in order to find one of the required items to leave this heaven-forsaken planet. That's not even mentioning the fact that I have to eat those foul tasting thingsvitality to survive.

I'm already feeling queasy thinking about it.

Now though, I have to plan. One of my first thoughts is about how to kill more Zombies. Afterall, the more zombies that I kill, the more exp I gain and the higher my level goes. The higher my level, the more damage I deal and abilities I hold. Then I have to secure my base. I can't afford to have zombies break in, that would spell a quick death due to my lack of flight. And finally, I have to find an artifact from another world. For the last two points in my plan, I'd have to get stronger either way, so I focus on that.

My mind immediately goes to how I killed the previous Zombie, though I immediately scratch that off. I heal very slowly unless I sleep, so I don't want to risk it. Had it taken even a second longer to drain him, I would've likely taken some damage. And while my Vitality Drain does heal me, it doesn't heal enough. I also can't think of any immediate ways to increase its damage.

"If only I had a way to increase it's damage…" I mumble to myself, before facepalming, "Wait, I'm stupid I still have those 12 Stat Points.

"Hey system, does the Charisma gained from Stat Points also double?"

[Yes]

Upon hearing that I immediately open up my Status and Skill windows, just for me to almost facepalm again as I didn't notice my Vitality Drain leveled up twice. Resisting the urge to facepalm, I immediately throw 3 points into Charisma, increasing it by 6. I also throw another 3 into my Strength to increase my Marionette's Strength. This leaves me with 6 Stat points I'm saving for a rainy day, as I've already found a way to abuse this.

Unlike the last time I increased my stats, this time I increased them by a much less subtle number. I can feel the strength flood my body as my strength increases, feel my body removing some of its flaws, making me look better. It's invigorating and satisfies my demonic blood's lust for power.

Now that my Vitality Drain does a solid 27 Damage per second, I'm much more confident in killing Zombies without my Marionette. Well, assuming I fight them one on one.

Next thing I need to try and do is fine motor control with my new limbs. While I'm still too young to fly with my wings properly, my tail is sharp enough to cause some damage. Well, that and I don't want to accidentally slam either of them into doors. I'm still either 8 levels or 3 more years of age short of being able to get shapeshifting, through either the Skill Tree or naturally.

Fun Fact: My tail has two forms, one sharp and one dull. Not So Fun Fact: it's sensitive to touch in a way that feels strange when it's not sharp. Since I've learned that, I've kept it sharp and accidentally left some deep cuts in some wooden chairs I sat in. Fun fact 2: My race can turn their hands into claws. Not So Fun Fact 2: I'm still a full year too young for that ability to develop.

The way I found out about the exact time for that wasn't through the Skill Tree, but remember those chairs I mentioned earlier? After seeing the damage I dealt to them by just standing up, I cast Observe on all of them to try and see how tough they were. They turned out to be sturdy chairs, but during that process I accidentally cast Observe on my tail which revealed a lot of information about my race. It still didn't reveal its proper name, only appearing as Demon (S), but it did show what racial abilities will develop in the future. Flight, Claws, Charm Type skills, etc. But by the time it was all said and done, I gained knowledge and another two levels in Observe.

It still didn't show how much damage my tail does though, so I'm leaving it as a last resort.

Going back to practicing my new limbs, I take one of the chairs I damaged earlier and start using it as target practice. I jab my sharpened tail out, missing horribly. I spend the next twenty minutes doing it over and over again, twisting and turning it until I'm confident I can at least hit a decent sized target while not stressed. I'm not confident in doing it in the heat of combat yet. Besides, I'm a Puppeteer, aiming to be a Puppet Master, I shouldn't be fighting at the front lines besides to deal the occasional final blow.

"My issue is my only Marionette just isn't very durab… and I'm an idiot." I force down another facepalm, "I really need to quit being so scatterbrained."

I immediately open my inventory and throw my woodworker's toolkit into my Hotbar so I can take it out at any time, before calling them out. There's cut logs used for firewood which I can use for my new project, and I found a few dozen large screws earlier, so I can use those. While I'm not exactly a carpenter, making a basic wooden shield held together by screws shouldn't be that hard, should it?

==Scene==Break==

It's been four hours. Four hours and three failed attempts. Don't get me wrong, the basic design is easy, six strips of wood held in place by being screwed into two wooden cross bars. A simple shield, like the one from Bloodborne. The issue is cutting the damn pieces of wood evenly! Don't get me wrong, the other attempts were usable, but I need it to be of decent quality so Marietta's arm doesn't get even more damaged.

Of course the size of the thing is just going to make it harder to cut properly, as it needs to be small enough to my marionette, but large enough to withstand blows. It was especially difficult when all the damn tools are just slightly too large for me to comfortably use.

But finally, finally, I created a successful wooden shield. It probably won't last long, probably only a few hits before it shatters into a splintery mess, but that's enough when my marionette only needs to block a few hits before the fights are over. Though this does mean I need to get a slightly longer weapon for Marietta, as the shield will get in the way of her short dagger.

Now to add the finishing touches to the shield, multiple straps and a bar to keep it locked onto the marionette's arm. Though to do this all I need to do is layer multiple strips of torn cloth, which I took from the decomposing corpse downstairs, on top of each other for the straps, then screw them into the wood. This shield is meant to be cheap until I find a book or magazine on carpentry.

I then take scrap from one of the more damaged chairs before whittling it down into a small pole. After that, I put my marionette's hand through the straps to see where I should put the grip, before whittling the pole down more as it's slightly too large. I then measure and carve a small hole, which I fill with the strongest glue in this house. I then set the new grip into the hole and let the glue dry.

Now, you're probably wondering why I'm doing all of this rather than making a new arm for Marietta, right? Well that's because I'm not confident in making ball joints, and I don't wanna glue the joint from her current arm onto a new one, as that just spells disaster.

By the time it's all said and done, it's midnight and the crescent moon is smirking at me in the middle of the night sky.

==Scene==Break==

I'm somewhat glad I'm a demon, more specifically I'm glad I'm a specific type of demon that I refuse to name. Oh, I have a good idea of what type of demon I am, I just refuse to confirm it. The reason I'm glad about my new species is twofold, Dark Vision and I no longer need to sleep. This means I can ambush Zombies with my Marionettes at night where it's somewhat safer. Afterall, they only have their sense of hearing and smell to fall back on, not sight.

Well, at least not yet. I felt the curse gain power with the rise of the moon, so they'll also probably gain power depending on the moon phase and other factors, though I've not been here long enough to be able to experiment with those factors. Either way, my instincts are screaming at me to be out of here by the next New Moon.

Back to their lack of Dark Vision, it makes my life much easier. You see, my dumbass decided that it wanted to test out my new shield, so I left the safe confines of my house and got myself into a minor situation. I'm now standing roughly 30 ft behind two other zombies. Luckily they haven't noticed me yet, but that can always change quickly.

"Observe, Observe," I cast as quietly as I could.

[Basic Zombie - Lv4 - Rank 1]

[A Basic Zombie. The only extraordinary thing about her is that she is wearing a large camping backpack.]

[Basic Zombie - Lv 6 - Rank 1]

[A Basic Zombie. He is wearing nothing but cargo pants.]

[Skill Level Up: Observe (5/100)]

[Skill Unlocked: Stealth]

[Stealth (1/100)]

[Cost: 5 Mana per 10 Seconds

Effect: Increases your ability to blend into the shadows or hide in plain sight. Increases your ability to be stealthy by SkillLevel+AGI%.]

'System, please delay any non-combat related notifications until after combat if at all possible.'

[Notifications Minimized Until Combat's End]

'Good.'

Trying to be as quiet as possible, I start making Marietta sneak forward as I hide myself behind a tree. They may not be able to see well due to the darkness, but there's still some ambient light.

Now, about why I'm moving Marietta carefully, while I could have her float, thanks to my strength being high enough, that takes a lot of stamina out of me, depending on the weight of the item, and I need that stamina to run should things go wrong.

Once it's within stabbing distance of the Backpack one, I have my marionette move to the right, as the shield is strapped to its left arm. I take a deep breath in, before letting it go. Repeating a few times to calm my tenseness, I'm ready. My right hand is mimicking holding a cross-brace while controlling Marietta, so I raise my left hand and point it outwards. Ready to start, I mumble one last line before I enter combat.

"I suppose it's time for us to fight, Puppetry!"

Unlike most times I cast this spell, I force the Ribbons to be Invisible before they even leave my hand. The invisible ribbons shoot from my hand and wrap around The Shirtless One's leg, before I yank my left hand back, bringing the Shirtless One to the ground. While I'm doing that, I'm also stabbing the Backpacker with my marionette, stabbing it twice before I raise the shield.

I'm immediately thankful that I did, as the Backpacker's arm immediately slams into the raised shield. Some of the wood creaks, but the blow lands against enough boards to stop any from splintering. The one I knocked down doesn't seem to be getting up yet, so I stab the Backpacker again.

It slows down a little bit, more due to the magic holding it together weakening rather than any real pain, which gives me time to have Marietta raise its shield again and block another blow. By this point The Shirtless One is slowly starting to sit up, but it will still be a moment before then so I have the marionette throw a slash. It not only hits, but because the Zombie was leaning over to hit the poor puppet, it left its throat wide open. The slash cut the throat deep, making the magic holding the corpse together work overtime to keep the neck from tearing more.

It does retaliate by swinging again, but I have the marionette back step it instead of block. Don't want to waste my shield's durability if I don't need to afterall. By this point The Shirtless One is almost standing again, so I yank my left hand again, causing it to fall back onto its butt, making me hold back a laugh.

By this point I'm curious, so I cast a full Puppetry at The Shirtless One to see if I can bind them.

This time, since I'm confident I can win, and the fact that I still have one tied to it's leg, I don't bother making these ribbons invisible. Like the last time I tried casting it on a zombie, the ribbons wrap around its arms and legs. Unlike last time, however, they don't immediately snap. The Shirtless One is clearly trying to struggle and thrash against my ribbons, but he's unable to move.

Giving a slight smile, I will the ribbons to disappear (visibly) and return my attention to my marionette. Don't get me wrong, I never stopped paying attention to it, but my focus was certainly split. Luckily it only took a few moments so the zombie didn't exactly have time to attack.

Also less luckily but still something that makes me happy, I'm now able to split my focus onto two things without either of them losing much control. That means I'm able to keep The Shirtless One still while I kill the Backpacker with my marionette.

I can feel the magic binding the Backpacker weakening, so it's only a few more stabs left, so I quickly have Marietta slash it quickly before stabbing. Naturally it retaliates, but I make the puppet duck beneath it before stabbing again.

By this point it's getting repetitive, doing this over and over, I decide to try something. I want to see if I can use my Puppetry on a rock to fling it extra hard. I mean, I could throw it normally, or I could use my magic to swing it really fast. Like a sling.

I then realize I can't because I'm not quite skilled enough to be able to use three active Puppetrys at once. Oh sure, I can use two then use a third for a brief distraction, but not much more than that. So I decide to just finish the Backpacker the old fashioned way.

By having them be stabbed to death by a Marionette. Reminds me of FNAF.

It takes two more stabs, but the Backpacker finally goes down. After that, feeling hungry, I try to force the other one to walk towards me, but as soon as I try, the connection snaps. I almost panic before I realize that it probably means that it's strength is probably equal to my Puppetry's power. I immediately recast my spell on The Shirtless One before walking up to it myself.

I walk behind it, put my hand on the center of its struggling back, and take a breath. Pinching my nose, I quickly drain it of it's vitality. Just like the last one I drained, it's taste is so vile that I almost immediately puke. I fight the urge to do so, I can't afford to let The Shirtless One go after all, but it's still a really strong urge.

The ten seconds it took to drain him were some of the longest seconds of my life.

Once it's done, though, I'm immediately flooded with notifications.

[Enemy Defeated: Basic Zombie Lv4]

[Gained 60xp]

[Enemy Defeated: Basic Zombie Lv6]

[Gained 90xp]

[Class Level Up: Puppeteer]

[Upon Leveling Up Puppeteer, you've gained 1 STR, 1 AGI, 2 INT, 1 CHA, and 1 WIS. 7 Stat Points gained.]

[Due to Passive Skill, CHA gain is doubled.]

[Skill Level Up: Puppetry (6/100)]

[Skill Level Up: Vitality Drain (4/100)]

[Skill Level Up: Vitality Drain (5/100)]

[Skill Level Up: Stealth (2/100)]

Giving a quick glance through the notifications, I close them all before stuffing both Marietta and the Backpacker's backpack into my inventory. I don't want to open the bag when potential danger lurks around every corner. As such, I quickly rush back to my temporary base.

Though not before asking myself a question, "Why do these things have to taste so vile?"

==Scene==Break==

I've made it back. Truth be told, that little adventure didn't even take a full hour of time, and I even got some loot out of it! That means it's still only just past midnight, so I have to find ways to kill time. Too young to use that adult magazine I found, too young to fly, maybe something in my new loot will be something interesting?

I quickly take the backpack, and Marietta, out of my inventory. I first decide to check over the marionette, as I really don't want her to break. Turns out she's at least visibly fine. Besides the shield starting to splinter (which was expected( and her already damaged arm (which I'm not skilled enough to repair yet), she's fine to go.

Though I really want to give her more details, or maybe make a whole new marionette and retire Marietta. She's kinda just a faceless wooden doll at the moment, and it's kinda hard to get attached to her without a face. Oh well, thoughts for later.

I put the marionette back into my inventory and pull my new backpack up to me. With me on the ground and the bag between my legs, I choose to go through it slowly by saving the main compartments for last. I open one of the side compartments to find about three packs of gum and a Swiss Army knife all crammed in there. I just end up setting them to the side as I go through the other compartments, as I'll figure out what to do with them later.

The next compartment I open is the small one on the other side. It contains a small solar charger, which I assume is for a phone, and a small box of matches. Also choosing to set those aside, I open big compartment number one, the last one before the main one, and it contains some fun things! A varied handful of Magazines, and a small book, all of it about Carpentry and making marionettes. Well, except one. What's with me only ever finding one adult magazine in a stack?

I'm immediately over the moon at my new acquisitions, as it means I'll not only be able to repair Marietta, but make new marionettes! It'll take a lot of practice, but I've got a lot of time to burn. Mainly daylight hours, as moving through the night is much, much more comfortable for me. I'm a Su… Demon, I'm a demon and we're naturally dark aligned creatures. So I'll hunt during the night for food, and work on my craft during the day.

I don't need them perfect, just good enough to fight with. For now.

It takes a few minutes, but eventually my excitement dies down enough for me to continue on. I gently set my new reading material off to the side before getting ready to open the main compartment. Holding my breath, I grab hold of the zipper and slowly open it, keeping my eyes at an angle so as to not see the contents.

With an open mind and a light heart, I pop my head up to see what's inside and feel excitement. Books, many books, books on all kinds of subjects. From what appears to be a book about magic, to a book about blacksmithing, and even… smut. I'll ignore that one. But besides the smut, all the books are about crafting in one way or another. Even the magic book, once it gets past basic magic theory, is just talking about how to craft stuff using magic. I quickly find a notepad and start writing down all the book titles while setting them to the side. All I can say is I won't be bored for a long while.

Once I'm done cataloging the books, and having another realization that makes me facepalm, I find something else at the bottom of the bag. It appears to be a fancy, stylized key. Picking it up, I immediately feel some inherent magic in it, making me curious. It's a fancy bronze (or is it brass?) key that seems far too large to fit into any reasonable lock, so I cast a quick Observe on it.

All my excitement from my previous finds is immediately blown out of the water as I read the description of the item. Unable to help myself, I break out laughing.

[Gringotts Key]

[A vault key to a Gringotts Bank on another world.]

Once I'm done with my little fit, an odd question occurs to me that makes my brows furrow.

"What was a backpacker doing with all this stuff?"

Shaking off that question, I debate immediately leaving this world, opening the 'Worlds' tab. It shows a whole new world, another Earth, though the description of this one makes me pause.

[World]

Earth (816X4244)

[This world is a mostly peaceful world, well, as peaceful a world can be. The supernatural is hidden from the everyday Mundane person, while countless tribes and factions coexist. Darkness and Light exists around every corner, so let's turn this world around and make it a game that's fun for everyone to play!]

I almost immediately click the button to transport myself to that world, but the word peaceful specifically sticks out in my mind. Peaceful means less fighting, less fighting means slower growth, and slower growth means stagnation. Every fiber of my being is against stagnation in all it's forms, so I immediately ask a question.

"System, can I return to this world later?"

[Yes, you may return to this world at any time with little to no restrictions.]

I released a breath that I was holding. Normally I wouldn't want to stay a second here longer than necessary, but I want to get stronger, to turn them into prey. And to do that I'll need to keep fighting, which that other world likely won't let me do very often. I know it's some sort of Harry Potter world, but it's likely not canon based on that description. Could it be a crossover? Maybe an AU? I hope it's not one of those Evil Dumbledore stories at the very least.

But continuing on from that, there are some powerful people there. Not powerful in the grand scheme of things, but powerful compared to me. And that's not even mentioning all the subtle ways I could be screwed over, so I need a lot more power before I risk it. I want to be at least level 10 before I go, because at least here I'm relatively safe, as I haven't found a zombie over level 9 yet. Oh, don't get me wrong, they most certainly exist, but I thankfully haven't seen any yet.

While it's still dark, I want to hunt more. I can save my crafting and practice for the day, but hunting I'm doing at night.

The time for cowards has gone, I suppose.

==Scene==Break==

The sun is finally coming up. This was a long, long 6 hours. I faced a total of 15 zombies, all Basic Zombies, and never more than two at a time. Though I did find both my first Level 10 and my First Level 1. Luckily Level 10 was the last one I faced, otherwise I doubt I would've survived. And that's before considering that I now need to make more wooden shields, as the level 10 shattered it.

None of them had much loot, besides some Jewelry which I grabbed. Though the Level 10 did have a Combat Knife which I got. Overall, my gains looked something like this:

[810xp Gained]

[Class Level Up: Puppeteer]

[Upon Leveling Up Puppeteer, you've gained 2 INT, 1 CHA, 1 WIS. You've gained 6 Stat Points.]

[Class Level Up: Puppeteer]

[Upon Leveling Up Puppeteer, you've gained 1 STR, 2 INT, 1 CHA, 1 WIS. You've Gained 7 Stat Points.]

[Due to Passive Skill, All CHA gain is doubled.]

My skills also leveled up multiple times, though I'll only show the most recent Level Ups for them.

[Skill Level Up: Observe (7/100)

[Skill Level Up: Vitality Drain (7/100)]

[Skill Level Up: Puppetry (9/100)]

[Skill Level Up: Stealth (5/100)]

[Skill Level Up: Parallel Processing (2/100)]

I'm now officially happy. Not happy enough to dance, but thanks to me pushing my limits my Parallel Processing has leveled up! This means I'm able to comfortably concentrate on two things now, three if I push myself. Of course, concentrating on a third thing will still be difficult, at least until I get used to it, but it'll ease with use.

I've unlocked nothing else new, I'll probably unlock those at certain milestones, but I did have a question for my system.

'Hey System,' I think instead of saying, mainly because I'm still in the forest, just on my way back to base, 'Why didn't I get a skill for Carpentry or Woodworking when I made all those shields?'

[Because you haven't reached the baseline level of skill to unlock the skill.]

'Ah, so I gotta have at least a certain amount of skill before it'll give me the skill? Isn't that backwards?'

[We do this so that while you grow fast, you don't grow too inhumanly fast. An easy game is a boring game after all. As such, rather than a 1 to 100 scale, they instead show proficiency with Novice to Master scale.]

I nod my head in understanding. I agree afterall, anything too easy gets boring after a while.

Eventually my Base enters my sight, and I slow down. I have a lot of Daylight to burn after all.

Time to try and get that Carpentry skill.
