The Room, Unslept in
A/N: Time for Chapter 24! A dream of a honeymoon – filled with music and love and fun activities.
PS – I don't own any of the characters from Who's the Boss? I also don't own the song(s) I use in this story. I also don't own the dialogue I sometimes use in the chapters. I've tried to pick songs that remind me of Tony & Angela and their relationship. If you'd like to hear them, check out YouTube – you can find just about everything there.

Chapter 24: Once Upon a Honeymoon, I
Sunday, July 4th, 1993
A light rain fell outside their bedroom window. Two people lay together cocooned in each other thinking about their wedding night. One of them started giggling. "What's so funny, Miss Giggles … I mean Mrs. Giggles?"
"You, you kept tickling me last night, and I couldn't stop laughing," she said starting to giggle again.
"Can I help it if you're really sensitive right now?" he asked her tenderly caressing her cheek and moving a few strands of hair that had fallen over her eyes.
"No, I guess not, and I loved your touches, but they still tickled me," she whispered back to him. "It was a beautiful night, Tony."
"A beautiful night with my beautiful wife," he said back to her. Then added, "It definitely wasn't a night for sleeping."
"No, no it wasn't," she said starting to giggle again.
They laid together clinging to each other for a little while listening to the rain outside. Even though it was late in the morning, it was still partially dark in their room from the rain. Once again, their heads shared a single pillow while they both gazed into each other's eyes, each transfixed on the other and seeing a look of peace and serenity within them.
Then Tony heard Angela's stomach grumble.
"Can I interest you in some breakfast?" Tony posed to her. "It'll be a while before we're in the city."
"I think I could handle some waffles with whipped cream," she said. "It's nice not to be morning sick so far."
"Coming right up. You stay here, and I'll bring them up to you," Tony told her enthusiastically.
"Oooh, breakfast in bed," Angela cooed back to him, "I could get used to that."
"Good, I hope you get very used to it," he said walking into the bathroom to freshen up first. When he walked back into their bedroom, he turned off the radio and walked over to their bed. Tony bent down to kiss her before putting on his robe and then exited their room to go downstairs.
Angela stretched and got up to use the bathroom. When she was done, she walked back into the bedroom, put on her sky-blue bathrobe, and laid back down. She spent time thinking about the night before and how Tony made her feel so loved and wanted. She smiled thinking about it. She loved Tony more than any other man in her entire life she already knew, but the love they showed each other the prior night went to a whole new level. She recognized how much they needed to be together for the rest of their lives.
Soon she heard Tony coming back upstairs carrying a tray with several items rattling on it as he walked up the stairs. She sat back up against the pillows on the headboard.
Tony brought in hot, steaming waffles for two along with some coffee, some with caffeine and some without for Angela, orange juice, and a can of whipped cream. They'd both worked up quite an appetite for their breakfast and ate without speaking for a time.
After they finished their breakfast, Tony got up to shower, and Angela followed him after he left the hot water running for her. They dressed for the day and finished packing for their trip into Manhattan.
They made the easy decision to go to New York City for their honeymoon. Neither wanted to be too far from home, and there was plenty to do in New York that would keep them busy when they weren't pre-occupied with other honeymoon activities. Also, on the plus side was the short drive to New York even though it was the Fourth of July. After the past month, they just weren't in the mood for long drives and more stressful planning.
It certainly helped that Angela was in the line of business she was in. She called in some favors and was thus able to procure a hotel room at the Plaza for the entirety of their honeymoon. One client even offered them an apartment that had a private balcony they could use to watch the Macy's famous fireworks from that night.
As they were finishing their breakfast, the phone rang. Even though neither wanted to answer it, they wondered if it could be their driver since they were supposed to have been at the house 30 minutes earlier.
"Hello. Tony Micelli speaking."
"Good, I'm glad I caught you, Mr. Micelli. Are you still planning to ride into New York City soon?"
We sure are," Tony said emphatically while Angela listened to the conversation and wondered who was on the other end of the phone.
"I wasn't sure. When I got to your front door there were some signs on it that led me to believe you didn't want to be disturbed."
"What kind of signs?" Tony asked as he hurried down the stairs to figure out what the driver was talking about.
"Mr. Micelli, I think you should open the door and take a look," the driver answered back.
When Tony opened the door, he saw the giant Do Not Disturb sign hanging along with bright yellow tape saying to keep out.
"Ange, you've got to come down and see this," Tony yelled back up the stairs.
Angela hurried down the stairs wondering what was going on.
"Mona!" Tony exclaimed rolling his eyes.
"Mother! – we should've known she'd do something like this." Angela couldn't help but laugh at what she was seeing.
"Thanks for calling. I'll get our luggage, and we'll be ready in about fifteen minutes. I need to run upstairs and take care of a few things first, but we'll be ready soon.
"I'll wait in the limo until you give me the okay to come in for the luggage, Mr. Micelli. "Take your time," the driver offered.
"I better check the back door," Angela concluded instinctively. "She probably did something similar back there, too." Sure enough, Angela opened the back door to find the same accoutrements as she had found on the front door. She laughed as she pulled down the sign and removed the yellow tape. She peeked up the stairs to Mona's apartment, but didn't see anyone looking out the window.
She closed the door and went back upstairs to finish getting ready for their trip into New York.

Mona, Jonathan, Samantha, and Hank had all camped out in Mona's apartment the prior night. Since there was only sleeping for three, Jonathan had brought along his sleeping bag. And on Mona's strict orders, they gave Angela and Tony privacy in the house. They were having breakfast in the apartment and watching 1776 on the TV to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, appreciating the quiet time after the frenzied past few weeks. They knew there was still a lot to clean up from the wedding the night before, but all four wanted to take a moment to relax first. The rain gave them an extra excuse to postpone the additional cleanup necessary to get the outside back to its pre-wedding appearance. The rental company had removed most of their equipment, tables, and chairs the night before.
"I can't believe they're finally married. After all these years," Samantha reflected out loud with relief.
"I still can't believe the story about them meeting at camp all those years ago," Jonathan said exuberantly.
"We always thought it was them, but they'd never divulged it to anyone until last night," Mona told him. "Sam was the one who thought it was them right from the start when we were talking about it on the drive up to get you at camp that summer."
"That makes it even more frustrating to think about how long it took them to really get together. They fought it for so long," Mona said getting up to bring her dishes to the sink.
Since Tony and Angela hadn't given much more information about how they met at camp during the wedding, it took Mona and Samantha to fill Jonathan and Hank in on the story as they knew it. Jonathan had listened with bated breath to hear how his parents had met as kids. He still couldn't believe it.

The drive into the city was happily uneventful and finally rain-free. Angela spent the time in Tony's arms; he spent the time kissing and caressing his new wife. She reciprocated. Even though there was gridlock getting across town, the time flew because they never looked out the window the entire time. They were too lost in each other to even care.
The limo dropped them off right in front of the Plaza, and their driver took their luggage out of the trunk and gave it to the bellman. They checked into the hotel after being told they were being upgraded to a small suite for their honeymoon. They held hands as they rode up in the elevator to their room. The bellman rode in the elevator with them and their luggage. Then the bellman walked them down the long hallway to their room. The bellman opened the door and carried their luggage into their room placing it in front of their bed. When the bellman returned to the hallway, Tony gave him a tip, and then left them alone, pushing the brass luggage cart back to the elevator.
With the bellman gone, Tony picked Angela up to carry her over the threshold. Angela was not prepared for what awaited her in the room. There were pink roses everywhere. He put her down after she gave him a huge kiss. She walked around the room looking at the roses while inhaling their sweet, fruity fragrance, thankful they weren't causing her any nausea. "Oh, Tony, they're beautiful. Thank you. You think of everything."
"Anything for you, Ange," Tony smiled pleased with her response to the roses.
In the middle of the room was a small table that held a bucket of fresh ice along with a bottle each of champagne and sparkling water wrapped in cloth to keep the condensation from dripping into the ice bucket. Two champagne flutes were also on a tray waiting to be filled.
"Angela, come over to the table," Tony beckoned her. Angela walked over to where Tony was standing. He opened the sparkling water and poured Angela a glass. Then he popped the champagne cork and poured himself a glass of champagne. He held the glass up and offered Angela a toast to their honeymoon and life together. She gazed into his eyes as if she could see into his soul. They both took a drink and set their glasses back down on the table never taking their eyes off each other.
Angela had a look in her eyes that told Tony what she wanted to do next. "Sweetheart, I'm right there with you, but I think we should leave to get some dinner and then go over to the apartment your client is loaning us so we can watch the fireworks – the Macy's fireworks," he told her as she was beginning to nibble his ear. "We can make our own fireworks later," Tony said trying to convince her to stop the nibbling. She finally relented and went downstairs to exit the hotel.
They got into the cab the hotel doorman hailed for them. The cab took them on a very slow, traffic-filled ride across town to the apartment that overlooked the East River. Before going upstairs, they stopped in for some pizza at a local pizzeria. If there was anything that they could count on while being in the city, it was finding good food close by wherever they happened to be. Then they stopped by an ice cream parlor and got some ice cream to go. When they finally made it back to their destination, the doorman opened the door for them. They walked in and over to the concierge sitting at the desk in the lobby. Angela told the concierge who she was and that there should be a key waiting for her. The key was easily found and handed over to her. He pointed them to the elevator and told them to go to the 49th floor.
They walked down the hall and found the apartment, unlocked the door, and went in. The first thing they did after turning on the light was find the kitchen so they could put their ice cream away in the freezer so it wouldn't melt.
When they opened the refrigerator to see what there was to drink, they found sodas and water. They also found a bottle of champagne with a red ribbon on it with a congratulatory note attached. Next to that was a small bakery box with a chocolate cake with script writing that said Congratulations on Your Wedding, Angela & Tony. There was a note on the bakery box telling Angela and Tony to enjoy the cake and champagne while watching the fireworks.

After getting back from the fireworks, they both went to take showers and change into some nightwear.
Angela walked back out in a lace hot pink teddy. "You look like one of the bright fireworks we just saw," he told her from his vantage point on the couch.
"I take it that you like what you see?"
"You know I do," Tony told her looking her up and down.
Then Angela started to turn a little green.
"Tony, I'm starting to not feel so well." She hurried back into the bathroom and spent quite a bit of time in there. Tony heard the shower go back on, too. He called into the bathroom asking if she was okay.
"I will be, Tony," she called back out to him.
"Can I get you anything?" Tony asked through the door, something that was a regular conversation between them now.
"No, I'll be alright," she called back out in response to his worried question.
A few minutes later, Angela came back out sighing with disappointment. She was wearing a red, white, and blue camisole nightie instead of the hot pink teddy she had on prior to rushing into the bathroom. Her hair was pushed back off her face with a dark blue ribbon.
"Are you feeling any better?" he asked her tenderly, but with an air of worry in his voice.
"Yeah, a little. At least I made it through our wedding and the first 24 hours of our marriage without being sick.
"Here, come over and sit on my lap," he offered her with his arms outstretched.
Angela walked over and delicately sat down on Tony's lap. She put her arms around his neck and chest and laid her head on his shoulder.
"Thank you, Sweetheart," she told him picking her head up and kissing him on his cheek. "I'm sorry about tonight," she told him regretfully while nestling herself closer onto Tony's shoulder.
"Ange, you don't have to apologize for anything, especially for not feeling well while being pregnant. We have the rest of our honeymoon for making our own fireworks," he told her firmly trying to make sure she knew he didn't mind.
"Tony, I love you so much," she said while letting out a loud yawn.
Before Tony could tell her how much he loved her back, Angela started chuckling lightly.
"Angela, what's so funny?" Tony wanted to know, wondering what would've caused his new wife to go from that loud, long yawn to suddenly laughing.
"Tony, seeing Christy and Lyle last night reminded me of the time we went to find Lyle at that hockey game and I plopped onto your lap because there weren't any other seats available."
Tony, knowing where this was going started to turn a bright shade of red. He took an embarrassing breath in getting ready to hear what Angela was about to say to him.
"I think that was the first time I realized what I could do to you. I still remember how you looked at me," she whispered to him taking her head off his shoulder to look at him.
"Yeah, Angela, I can't deny what you felt. I'm pretty sure Christy and Lyle noticed how close we were, too."
"You couldn't resist me, could you?" Angela teased.
"No, I couldn't, not since I was 11." Tony teased back with a note of seriousness to his voice.
"Sweet." She kissed him again. The she laid her head back on his shoulder.
"What do you want to do tomorrow? I didn't plan anything until Tuesday night when we go to see Guys and Dolls and have dinner at Sardi's."
"I don't' want to do anything but stay in bed with you all day," she told him honestly and decisively.
'I think that can be arranged. It's not a bad idea after the whirlwind weekend – no, make that this past month - we've had so far. I don't want to tire you or the baby out."
"Oh, I'll let you tire me out, but it'll be something else that does it," she said in a very suggestive voice.
"Angela, you're always going to be my surprise volcano, aren't you?" Tony queried her already knowing the answer to that question. After all their years together, he still couldn't believe how quickly she could turn from a strait-laced ad executive into an erupting volcano. He felt so lucky that she was his forever.
"Here, let me rub your back," Tony offered.
"Okay, you know I can't resist your backrubs… or foot rubs," she added.
After a few minutes, Tony realized that Angela had fallen asleep. After a few minutes of listening to her breathe gently, he picked her up, walked them over to their bed, and laid her down.
"Whaaaat," Angela picked her head up waking briefly.
"Shhhh. Ange, you fell asleep. Lay back down. I'll join you, I'm tired, too."
She moved over so Tony could join her. She lazily moved up to the pillow where Tony soon joined her. She turned around to face the window, and Tony spooned up next to her taking her hand in his. He loved her so much. Laying with her like this was one of his favorite things to do with her. He pulled up the blankets to cover them both.
Before laying down, Tony had put some soft music on in the background from the radio. It took them almost no time at all before they both fell into a deep, exhausted sleep.
