Grimmauld's Place was for the most part quiet, ever since September 1st. While sometimes Walburga Black shows her appearance in the painting, and when Kreacher and Sirius interact with each other you could hear angry muttering when they left, other than that it was quiet. That is of course you exclude Sirius Black and Harry Potter doing practically everything together, so they won't get insane that quickly. After Dumbledore's challenge Sirius was teaching Harry how to track and stay hidden from those you're tracking. Staying hidden wouldn't prove to be a problem for Harry as he had experience from hiding from the Dursleys ever since he was a child. It would prove to be difficult to learn how to track and staying hidden in plain sight as they were confined to Grimmauld's Place.
Fortunately to keep themselves from tiring too much, they also continued to plan a small escape into the wizarding world, without being spotted. While Sirius had the padfoot disguise, Harry hadn't been seen ever since his expulsion from Hogwarts at the ministry, so pictures would show the mentally insane expelled Boy-Who-Lived with a big black shaggy dog.
And with Wormtail, now back with the death eaters, Sirius would be recognized as well. Then rumours would spread from the "imperiused" death eaters, where Harry would be together with his parent's betrayer and his reputation would never recover.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Two and a half weeks have passed, and Harry felt he was finally getting good at staying hidden. Of course, with the invisibility cloak he would remain hidden, but he'd managed to make no noise while remaining under it. While he ate his toast, he skimmed over the daily prophet. He wondered if the public got tired from the constant "DUMBLEDORE: DAFT OR DANGEROUS?" or if they ate it all up like the fools they were.
It really didn't matter, since until Voldemort announced his return, Dumbledore would still be slandered. The weeks were starting to feel like months, as the only thing that kept him sane where his friends' letters and his plans with Sirius to get an outing in Britain, where they wouldn't be caught.
Ron and Ginny had apparently taken the role of Keeper and Seeker respectively. Harry frowned as he realized it was the time of the month, late September where Gryffindor and Slytherin started the season in quidditch. He wished he could throttle Malfoy, but he was confined in Grimmauld's Place where he instead practised to track an experience Auror who was in the order.
He was worried that Hermione might be struggling to balance life with schoolwork, as he'd hear her talking about her homework in almost every letter. If she found a balance, he would be happy. You could never truly stop Hermione from being a perfectionist.
His planning with Sirius was still trying to get as much out of the trip as possible. While they could just go to a random forest, they were trying to milk all they could out of their trip. Too recognizable in Diagon Alley and other wizarding streets. Muggle London was another option but, as Harry never experienced London due to his relatives and Sirius being stuck in Azkaban for twelve years, it was something they agreed to do after they both cleared their names.
As Harry thought on their situation, Sirius eyes widened suddenly as he had an epiphany.
"Harry," began Sirius as his face was implanted with a joyous expression.
"While we can't be in the wizarding nor muggle because I'm a wanted criminal, there's a place in Diagon Alley, where wizards has no rule over.
Harry suddenly got the same wide eyes as his Godfather as he understood where he was getting at.
"Gringotts," Harry whispered as the pieces were put in place.
"Harry, go fetch me a piece of a parchment and a quill. We'll write down the important ones.
"While I'm still wanted by the wizarding world, the goblin ones don't have to report me being there. If money can be made, and the goblins aren't in any danger, they might be willing to accommodate us quietly."
Harry nodded and he went and gathered a piece of parchment and a quill.
"Okay, so first, I can take full control of the Black Vault and gather things from there which can help us train.
Harry agreed and quickly voiced another opinion.
"I haven't been in my vault since my first year really. I've only gathered my galleons and sickles, so I'd want to explore the entire vault when we're there.
After a few minutes of brain storming, they had already written something.
POSSIBLE TO GO TO GRINGOTTS?
IF YES, OUR TO-DO-LIST
THE BLACK VAULTS
Monitor the black vaults.
Inspect and find any books that could help Harry.
In general, see if Sirius has missed anything.
THE POTTER VAULTS
Properly explore the Potter Vaults
Just gold, or something more there?
In general, see if Harry had missed anything.
GRINGOTTS ITSELF
Make Sirius declared innocent to goblins?
Look for legal loopholes for Harry's expulsion?
As Harry and Sirius were both satisfied on what they should do IF they managed to get to Gringotts. Therefore, they both decided to retire themselves early to bed, so they could train some more at dawn tomorrow.
OoOoOoO
London was filled with traffic as the rain poured down. As everyone practically ran towards roofs or go indoors to seek shelter from the rain, there was someone who walked in the rainy streets. While yes, he was now currently under an invisibility cloak, he was still outside.
As Harry pondered how long the cloak had remained intact as long as it did, while the rain falling down the fabric of the cloak as it ignored being wet..
Ron had said to him invisibility cloaks were incredibly rare, but they stopped working after fifteen to twenty years. But how did Harry's cloak work then? Sirius and Remus (when he was at Grimmauld's Place) had told him stories when they used the very same cloak he had when his father was in his first year.
Maybe it was a Potter secret? Harry couldn't know now, so he took a mental note, and vowed to think about it later. Perhaps he would find out if they would enter Gringotts?
It didn't really matter since now, he had to infiltrate the auror department and remain undetected. While Kingsley would best him in a duel, with most of the order, (He was fifteen, after all) who said he couldn't spy on them? Sirius and Harry had three concerns in their infiltration. Bl
First concern. Harry would take the route as Mr. Weasley and he took when they first, so he would once again enter trough the guest entry in the telephone box. But from there he would enter at Level Eight, and the Aurors office was at level Two. How could he avoid bumping into anyone when the only way to go further down is with the elevators? He'd had to take a closer look when he came.
Second concern. Mad-Eye Moody would be able to see Harry randomly being in the Aurors Office. If he saw him, what would he do? Best case; Negotiate and explain. Worse case; get the hell out of there as fast as possible.
Third concern. Kingsley Shackebolt is not somebody who Harry could afford to underestimate. A single mistake could cost the entire operation and if worst case scenario happened, where Shacklebolt saw him, he could see the one of the future events that would make him not eligible to enter the order.
As Harry walked into the Great Scotland Yard, he saw the lonesome telephone box every muggle was seemingly ignoring as the rain poured down. Harry frowned and entered an alleyway where he was careful nobody saw him, and took of his cloak, as he felt the rain pouring down on his body. He quickly made his way into the telephone box and began mentally preparing himself.
He couldn't take the risk of anyone seeing the door open and close. As he began panicking about how ludicrous his situation was. Honestly, you would think after being being convinced to jump into the danger of Sirius's and Remus's cruel syllabuses, he would never think he would be so stupid and instantly agree to whatever he suggested. Unfortunately for Harry, whatever Dumbledore wanted he usually got.
"Old git…" muttered Harry as he entered the passcode to the guest entry as he entered "62442".
"Welcome to the ministry of Magic. Please state your name business.
Harry wasn't sure if he should be serious but couldn't resist. Dumbledore told him this was important, but why shouldn't Harry get to have some fun?
"Cornelius Fudge, here to accept bribes from Lucius Malfoy."
To Harry's internal joy, a badge appeared from the chute where the coins usually came down from.
On the badge it stood,
Cornelius Fudge, Accepting Bribes.
Harry only snickered and pocketed the badge. It would be evidence that Harry infiltrated the ministry and hold a sentimental value on his first ever mission.
"Visitor to the ministry, you are required to submit to a search and present your wand for registration at the security desk.
As the telephone box began shuddering and began moving down slowly, Harry could only scoff at the implication he would register his wand. "Hello, I'm Harry Potter, here's my wand and I'm supposed to infiltrate your ministry today."
As Harry decided to ignore the demand, he would rather think of it as an innocent suggestion. It was rather ridiculous but, hey at least he had something if he was caught, as he ignored protocols. Maybe he could plead insanity if he got another trial?
It didn't matter to him though since Harry wouldn't be caught.
The doors finally opened, and Harry had long ago taken on his invisibility cloak as he appeared in the ministry for the first time since he was expelled from Hogwarts here. He swore to himself he would take a dump all over Fudge's political career when Voldemort announced his return. He would wish he could rather have Crouch's punishment where his son who he was so proud of, was a convicted death eater who tortured two highly esteemed purebloods to insanity and was relegated to department far away from ever becoming a minister again. Cornelius Fudge would be lucky to work as a janitor in the ministry when he was done with him.
As Harry slowly made his way towards the fountain, he sat down and looked at what the only thing Dumbledore had given him. It was the work schedule of the Aurors. The reason why he and Sirius had agreed to come now, was because soon lunch break for most of the workers would begin except for department two, (which Harry would be going) and department three.
Unfortunately, Harry would be stuck here for now waiting for half an hour. Harry sighed and prepared himself for doing nothing but listening to grown wizards and witches complain about trivial things.
As the minutes passed, he had found himself a rather seclusive corner and overheard useless complaints about varying things from; doesn't really matter to this is worthless. The only thing of note Harry heard was the complaining about too much sunlight in the windows, due to the maintenance workers not getting a raise. The workers who employed these weather fixes were so unbelievable petty and passive aggressive on how they subtly announced their displeasure, it amazed Harry to no end.
As the massive influx of ministry workers came to eat lunch, waited until the coast was clear and began making his way toward the elevator. He'd overhear gossip such as "Do you think the Potter kid has been registered to St. Mungus?" or such classics as "I'm telling you; Dumbledore have gone senile! My niece is at Hogwarts and her headmaster is an incompetent buffoon!"
Harry made no noise, but chuckled at how almost every witch and wizard would be pleading for Dumbledore's return when Voldemort grew bored of playing the waiting game. His second year has been tough with how people treated him, but it only proved how fickle the wizarding community was. Now they were crucifying Dumbledore, as they had with Harry too before the storyline got boring with him disappearing, and soon they would be singing their praises and would kiss their arses.
However, he wouldn't be distracted as he entered the elevator and focused on his upcoming task. Harry took an empty elevator and swiftly pressed the two button, as the elevator began slowly descending.
He was pleased to see his planning was coming in fruition, and the elevator was empty as it continued to slowly descend. Not even paper airplanes that had been so common from last time he'd been in here were anywhere to be seen.
As the door finally opened "Level Two, Department of Magical Law Enforcement." And he entered the office. While he was here briefly here last time as his lettering said he was supposed to be here, being interviewed with Amelia Bones, Fudge decided to play a powerplay and he was "always supposed to be at Courtroom Number 10" yeah, because an show of magic when you were underage was apparently just as dangerous as Death Eaters being brought to justice.
Now that he got a better look, he saw that the stalls were filled with paperworks, showing different decorations. Some showed photos of families, and others were just their quidditch teams. It wasn't what Harry was looking after though, and he smirked as he saw who he was looking for.
Kinglsey Shackebolt sat his desk doing some paperwork it appeared, and as Harry silently walked toward his desk looking for some presents, he would graciously return to him in the next order meeting. He didn't want to take something personal or important to him, but notably enough so he would notice it would go missing. He spotted the nameplate on his desk which was perfect.
Kingsley Shacklebolt
Auror
Harry grinned maniacally and stepped back into a corner, where he didn't make a noise and just stayed hidden. As he waited a pink haired witch was looking pleased before clumsily falling down at the floor. Harry winced, but he wondered how exactly Tonks was so prone to accidents. Perhaps her Metamorphagus ability where she was always shifting had something to do with it? Anyway, Harry ignored her grumbling as she walked towards the fridge and took a sandwich inside and cleared her throat loudly.
"Oi, you lot! If I find anyone taking my lunch again, I swear I will curse you so badly you'd wish you would never see me again!" As the other's looked at her worriedly and gave her a look they wouldn't dare to touch her lunch, she looked satisfied before turning her back to one auror. "And that means you too, Williamson! Last time was a warning spell!" The auror named Williamson swallowed and touched his arm, no doubt remembering whatever Tonks did to her. She looked satisfied and walked away.
Okay, so he was here to prove to the others he could stay undetected and mostly to steal things from Kingsley right under his nose, but when he had a perfect way to mess with a distant cousin, why annoy her? The sandwich was going to be annexed from Nymphadora "Don't call me Nymphadora" Tonks, into Harry Potter's stomach. He was satisfied until he heard a voice, he hoped he wouldn't hear.
"Lads, and lassies listen up you useless sods!" shouted Mad-Eye Moody.
As the other aurors scrambled from their paperwork, Harry swore his Moody's eye was looking at him before gazing upon the rest of the aurors.
"Williamson, Dawlish there's disturbance in Knockturn Alley, see what's the commotion is about.
As the aurors in question began walking towards the exit, Moody shouted "REMEMBER CONSTANT, VIGILANCE!"
As he looked towards the remaining aurors, he scowled and looked at them. "Now, I want you all to go have lunch, so you'll have a productive day, where you don't piss yourself for the rest of the day because your too hungry to do anything!"
"B-but sir," one person tried to ask before Moody growled dangerously.
"Was that a suggestion, boy? Get out of here. NOW."
As they all scrambled towards the exit, Moody suddenly locked the door and erected a privaty ward as his eye was fully on Harry, as he tried to shrink and that would maybe lead to a pit hole that would swallow him whole.
Now, Potter would you kindly explain what you're doing here?
