No One's POV
Mystic Falls and Elena and her friends were at war with Niklaus and his hybrids, having undaggered Elijah, the Noble brother, hoping to reign in the Original Hybrid, however, they also sought to open the fifth coffin, one spelled and locked; and it was this backdrop that Mystic Falls finds itself in.
"You look surprised to see me. So it wasn't you that removed the dagger from my chest?" Elijah comments, dropping one of Niklaus' hybrid's hearts as he enters the house.
"You look like you could do with a drink. And we have a lot to discuss, so shall we?" Niklaus attempts to avoid the impending attack that he knew was coming from his elder brother.
"Easy. I just finished renovating." Niklaus says, flying through a window as his brother shoves him backwards.
"You know you have every right to be mad at me. But I kept my word, I reunited you with our family." Niklaus rushes Elijah, Elijah crashing through a table as they continue to scuffle together.
"Don't make me do this to you again, Elijah!" Niklaus warns, both brothers continuing to fight together, Niklaus finally pinning Elijah to a closed coffin by his throat, holding a dagger to him.
"Come on. Use it. I dare you. You'll have Kol to deal with." Elijah growls back.
"Mikael is dead." Niklaus states, as if knowing this shock would pull his brother short.
"What did you say?" Elijah asks surprised, also feeling relief in the back of his mind, Mikael had been a plague and threat on his family.
"I killed him. With his own weapon. He's gone Elijah. Forever."
"Why do our family remain in these coffins? Finn for over 900 years, Kol for over a century." Elijah inquires, fixing his suit as he turns to face his brother, his composure more calm.
"Because of Stefan Salvatore. He holds the one thing keeping me from freeing them. There are things that you do not know about our past, Elijah. Our mother's death. Things I never wanted you to know but I'm ready to tell you now. I only ask that you remember the oath of loyalty you once swore to me." Niklaus replies, walking to a table where an urn is to remove the lid and dipping the dagger into it, going back over to Kol's coffin.
"What are you doing?" Elijah asks.
"Always and forever. I need you to stand by my side. Be my brother. Help me destroy Stefan and I promise you our family will be whole again." Niklaus reaffirms.
"Is this the only grimoire you kept?" Bonnie asks Abby as they walk into the Lockwood caves where the last coffin was being kept hostage by Stefan Salvatore.
"It was the only one I needed. So... What is all of this?" Abby asks.
"Family history. About a mother, who loved her children so much, she couldn't bear the thought she might lose them. So she turned them into vampires. One of them is Klaus." Bonnie replies.
"The one you're trying to kill with whatever is in that coffin?" Abby clarifies.
"There's nothing in here that's going to help us. I've seen most of these spells. What was this?" Bonnie asks, shaking her head slightly as she looks at the grimoire.
"It's the spell I used to seal Mikael in the tomb. I burned it and tried to get it out of my head. Didn't work though. Wait... Do you see this?" Abby points to a spell on the page.
"It's a sealing spell. We're trying to open something... Not seal it shut." Bonnie points out.
"No. Right here. On this side. It's a blood knot. It means to bind it you need two generations. A bloodline. Like... Two keys to a safety deposit box."
"So... Unbinding it, would reverse the spell. Unseal it. If we did it together." Bonnie nods in understanding.
"Niklaus, our guests have arrived." Elijah opens the door for the Salvatores, the brothers having proposed a sort of truce/negotiation to retrieve the last coffin, one that was held dear to both Elijah and Niklaus, really to the entire Mikaelson family, not that the Salvatores knew that.
"Damon. Stefan. Elijah tells me, you seek an audience. Very bold. Let's discuss the terms of our agreement like civilized men, shall we?" Niklaus says a bit dramatically.
"It's better to indulge him," Elijah sighs a little long suffering, leading everyone to the dining room.
"I didn't come here to eat, Klaus. Fact, I didn't want to come here at all. But I was told I had to cause you would hear us out." Stefan bites out.
"Well, we can sit and eat or I can reach down your throats and pull out your insides. The choice is yours." Niklaus says back frostily.
"Thank you, love." Damon offers nicely to a servant.
"You lost your appetite." Niklaus comments, a sarcastic look in his eyes.
"Eat. I thought we agreed that we would leave the grumpy Stefan at home." Damon nudges his brother.
"That's the spirit. Isn't it nice? Four of us dining together? Such a treat. Is this what you had in mind when you pulled the dagger from my brother?" Niklaus snarks.
"Well, I know how he felt about you, so I figured the more, the merrier." Damon winks at Elijah.
"Well, Elijah and I have had our share of quarrels over the century. But we always make it through." Niklaus shrugs.
"Kind of like you and Rebekah, right? Where is she, by the way? Last I checked she was still daggered because you were afraid to face her." Stefan sasses.
"If you're referring to the fact that Rebekah knows I killed our mother, I've already come clean to Elijah." Niklaus offers.
"Hey, Stef, remember when you killed dad? Might want to dial down the judgment until dessert." Damon rolls his eyes.
"We're here to make a deal, Damon. Doesn't mean we need to kiss his ass for seven courses."
"I'm just saying we have a long evening ahead of us. Pace yourself." Damon mutters.
Back in the old Lockwood cellars, the Bennett witches try with little success to open the last coffin.
"You're not trying! We've been at this for over an hour." Bonnie exclaims frustrated at things not working.
"The spirits are angry with me. For leaving you. Maybe they didn't want me to have my powers again." Abby replies, disheartened.
"I had all of those dreams for a reason. The spirits wanted me to find you because you're my mom. It's not them, it's you. You won't open yourself up to it. You know dad never talked about you? And neither did Grams. I had no memories of you. So you know what I use to pretend? That you were dead. It was easier to do that than to wonder why you never came back for me."
"There is no way I can tell you how sorry I am for what I did." Abby nearly cries.
"Yes there is. You can help me." Bonnie urges, placing her hand over the coffin and taking Abby's hand again to recite the spell.
"It almost worked. I have to call Damon, tell him that we're getting closer. I'll be right back." Bonnie replies, the candles having flared up and a rumbling having been heard, yet the coffin still refusing to be opened.
"Okay." Abby nods, sighing.
Bonnie leaves, cell phone in hand, Abby staying behind, head resting forlornly against the wall of the cavern.
Suddenly, a loud thud rings out, Abby turning back to the coffin, candles flaring up in bright flames, the coffin lid opening itself.
"H- Hello?" A soft spoken female voice asks. "E- Elijah?"
