The current director of the P.W.A.B, Millia Rage, unleashed all of her frustration in a single sigh.
She has done nothing but slave away her time on the mountain of documents that sat on her desk, all for her to fill out the blanks for the remainder of her afternoon shift.
Her partner, Zato One, has helped her significantly decrease the size of the paperwork she had to complete.
Unfortunately, his aid was not sufficient in making her task easier. He had to leave once the clock hit 5 in the afternoon as he had to take care of some very essential business at the Assassins Guild.
So Millia had no choice but to accept his departure and take care of the paperwork by herself.
She dropped her black ink pen as the frustration was taking a heavy toll on her mind. One of her hands came up to rub away the tension that had accumulated in her head.
("If all this work doesn't pay off, then I'm going to officially lose it.")
The tapping against her door made her body slightly jump in her seat.
"And who could that be?" She muttered to herself.
She went ahead and approached the door to face whoever had the nerve to visit her while her frustration was at an all time high.
But her intimidating aura to scare off the visitor was significantly diminished once she saw pleasant surprise that was waiting on the other side.
"Shun? What are you doing here at these hours?"
The green haired teen smiled softly at the director.
"Hyōga and Camus told me that you'd probably be working late. And so I visited to see if that was true. Need some coffee?" He offered her the drink with that same smile that always made everyone feel warm and comfortable.
Millia grabbed the cup, albeit with a little bit of desperation, and took a long sip. The warm, sweet liquid cleansed away all of the stress that has grown throughout the tedious few hours she had to endure.
She let out a pleased sigh once she swallowed the heavenly elixir. "Thank you, Shun. I really needed this."
"I'm glad you liked it." He replied as he sent her another one of his sweet smiles.
Millia's lips went up, if just a tiny bit, in reaction to Shun's smile.
…
"How did you know I liked my coffee with cream?" The director asked.
She and her surprise visitor have decided to sit down on her desk, carrying on a casual conversation that has lasted a good 10 minutes.
"Hyōga and Camus told me, so I decided to make you some before I got here." Shun answered honestly with his soft smile that always brought a welcoming warmth.
Just what on earth did Millia do to deserve this gentle treatment? Especially from a kind, sweet, and considerate young man like Shun.
"You didn't have to do that for me."
"But you have been working so hard to make the world a better place. You at least deserve to have something in return." The Andromeda Knight countered firmly.
Heavens, who blessed this boy with the kindness of an angel!?
"I… Shun I don't know what to say."
Millia's usually sharp, collected mind could not find the appropriate response that could fully express how Shun's kindness was easily affecting her. Positively, she might add.
It just felt so surreal that a woman, who has spent a chunk of her life spilling the blood of dozens upon dozens of people, was finally receiving a well-deserved reward out of the kindess from someone who appreciated what she is sacrificing.
"A simple thank you is enough, and perhaps taking a break for the rest of the day."
Millia did not even hesitate to agree.
…
"Are Hyōga and Camus waiting for me at my apartment?"
Shun nodded. "They are. They hoped that I would be able to bring you back so we could all enjoy the food they have prepared."
"That's nice of them." Millia said in an unusually soft and relaxed tone.
The former assassin was accompanied by the pacifist Saint, waiting for her personal carriage to arrive and bring them to her home.
Millia's soft, gentle expression was pointed at the young man that has done nothing but shower her with kindness and consideration.
It has been around two months since the boy stumbled into the scene but has quickly built a reputation for being "an angel that was sent down from Heaven."
And she couldn't agree more of an accurate description of Shun's personality and mindset.
He was always on the lookout for anybody that needed a helping hand, even if it was for the smallest most tedious task.
He would never resort to violence unless he had to do it in order to protect someone.
And he would always do his best to stay in touch with a person's needs and wants, ignoring what he himself wanted.
How a boy like Shun is even existing on Earth would remain unanswered.
Then again, an angelic soul like Shun is exactly what this accursed world needs.
"Your parents would be proud of you…" Millia muttered to herself.
"What was that?"
The former assassin shook off Shun's curiosity. "Nothing, just some random rambling about my work."
…
A long, soft yawn escaped from Shun's lips.
"Are you feeling tired, Shun?" Millia asked him in a voice that was almost maternal.
"I am." He confirmed, lightly rubbing one of his hands against one of his eye lids.
"Do you want to rest on my lap again?"
A small smile filled with gratitude and appreciation was the Andromeda Knight's reaction. "I would like that, thanks."
Millia moved herself to the end of the seat of her personal carriage, giving Shun the necessary room to lay down his body and place his head on Millia's lap.
His knees and arms were tucked in, getting himself comfortable for the rest of the short journey.
"I'll tell you when we arrive, okay?" Millia reassured the young man with a gentle, soft tone.
"Alright." That was Shun's last word before his eyes closed, falling into a nice, but short slumber.
The director of the P.W.A.B gently ran her right hand across the soft mane that was Shun's hair. It always brought her some sentiment of joy and pride to be able to give the sweet boy a nice source of comfort while he slept.
("I hope this is a sufficient reward for you, Shun. You deserve it after everything that you've done for us.")
After sending the boy another soft, gentle smile, Millia rested her head against the window of the carriage.
