Turning off the main road into their neighborhood, Callie sighed in relief, relaxed her shoulders, and loosened her white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel. Though the weather was decent and they'd timed their trip so they avoided rush hour in all of the major cities, between the frequent bathroom breaks required by her very pregnant wife and young child, stops to allow Arizona to walk out the cramps in her legs and back, and gasoline refills, the usual six hour drive was extended by three hours and Callie was physically and emotionally drained. She was certain the trip to Boston didn't take nearly as long, or maybe she was distracted by her family's excitement about seeing Barb and Daniel and her own anxiety over the award ceremony and the possibility of having to give a speech in front of hundreds of strangers. Whatever the case, with her exhausted wife and daughter sleeping for the last couple of hours, Callie had done very little but watch her mirrors and shift her gaze from the road to her sleeping daughter, then to her extremely uncomfortable wife, making sure they were both okay while desperately trying to ward off her fears of all the things that could go wrong before they made it home safely.

She was well aware of the fact that her feelings of unease stemmed from old baggage, yet it didn't settle her wandering thoughts in the least. She'd learned a long time ago not to tempt fate and with Sofia's upcoming birthday reminding her that things could change in an instant and Arizona's very round protruding baby belly, she felt as if they were a moving target for the universe at large. Though neither she nor Arizona spoke their feelings aloud, mainly for fear of putting their thoughts out into the world and speaking their realization into existence, she knew her wife was just as antsy as she was about their unexpected but necessary road trip. As if on cue, she heard a groan of displeasure emanating from beside her and reached over to rub soothing circles on her wife's protruding stomach. Feeling the movement under her touch, indicating that all three of her unborn children were alive and well, she was unable to stop the smile that crept across her lips.

Sensing that the car had slowed down and was making more frequent turns and stops, Arizona fought her way into consciousness as she realized they must be close to home. Her eyes fluttered opened and her own body began to relax as she noticed some of the tension in Callie's body had also eased; her jaw was no longer clenched tightly and her back, which had been ramrod straight and rigid the entire drive, was now slouched and resting against the seat in her wife's normal driving position. She started to sit up when she was hit once again by what felt like a blow to her kidney and moaned in pain, not surprised at all when she immediately felt a soft hand cover her stomach. She looked up in time to see her wife smiling softly and grumbled, "I'm glad at least one of us is enjoying the acrobatics going on inside of me." Callie poked out her bottom lip, shook her head, and pouted, "I'm not at all happy that they are hurting you, I just like feeling them move, knowing they are safe and healthy inside their mommy's womb." Arizona's face softened and her crankiness dissipated at her wife's words. Covering the strong tan hand with hers and intertwining their fingers, Arizona sighed, "I know, me too. They can move around all they want; I just wish they didn't use my internal organs as their playthings." Callie turned into the driveway, chuckled, and replied, "I know honey, we're home now so maybe they will settle down a little bit."

Arizona reached up to press the button which opened the garage door and hummed in response. She knew that more than likely, the babies were feeding off her nervous energy and by the way they responded to Callie, probably hers as well. This trip couldn't be prevented and nothing short of giving birth would have made her stay home and miss seeing Callie get her award or celebrating her win with her. Still, she could see the worry and tension written all over that gorgeous face and realized just how much of a toll the drive had taken on her emotionally. She lifted Callie's hand to her lips, kissed the soft warm skin, and offered, "Thank you for getting us home safely." Putting the SUV in park, Callie turned off the engine, tugged on Arizona's hand to bring her closer, brushed their lips together and whispered, "I'll do everything in my power to keep you and our family safe." Arizona captured the plump red lips in a long searing kiss and replied, "I know you will." She then sat back, unbuckled both seatbelts, stretched her arms out, and suggested, "Let's get the little one inside and I'll draw you a hot bath to soothe your aching muscles." Callie hummed in appreciation and whispered, "You've got yourself a deal Dr. Robbins-Torres."

Getting out of the car, Callie quickly disarmed the alarm, opened the side door, then jogged around to the passenger side to help her wife out of the car. As soon as she put her feet on the ground, Arizona felt a jolt of pain shoot up her right leg and groaned as she slumped against the car and threw her arms around Callie's neck for balance. Callie's arm shot out, wrapped around Arizona's waist and she worriedly asked, "Are you okay? Are your legs cramping again?" Arizona nodded and answered, "Only my right leg, I just need to walk around for a bit." She sighed then and asked, "Could you um…" Before she finished the question, she found herself being guided toward the house with most of her weight leaning on her wife for support. Once they were inside, Callie took her straight to the bedroom, helped her take off her shoes, laid her on the bed and gently ordered, "You just rest, I'll go get little miss, get her settled, then we can take a bath together and work out those cramps. How does that sound?" Arizona blew out an unsteady breath as she stretched out her leg and felt the pain slowly subside. Pulling Callie toward her, she captured her lips in a deep searing kiss and murmured, "Mmm sounds amazing." Callie leaned down, kissed her on the forehead and hurried outside before her daughter woke up scared and disoriented.

After carrying Sofia into the house, she set her on the edge of the bed and woke her enough to help her change into her pajamas. As the little girl pulled the shirt over her head, Callie's gaze landed on the ever fading scar just above her heart and her breath hitched at the visual reminder of one of the worst days of her life, the memory of which she'd been fighting all day. After pulling the pink pajama top over her daughter's head and smoothing it down her torso, Callie helped her get into bed and waited for her to get settled. Sitting on the side of the bed, she leaned down, placed a gentle kiss above her daughter's heart, then another on her forehead, and murmured, "Goodnight sweet girl, mommy and I love you very much." She then stood up, pulled the covers up to her daughter's chin and turned to leave the room.

Her emotions almost too much to bear, Callie decided to unpack the car in the morning, and slowly made her way to their bedroom, where true to her word, Arizona was running a bath for them. Needing the contact, the security of knowing her wife and unborn children were indeed safe and healthy, Callie stepped up behind the blonde, slipped her hands under her t-shirt, snaked them around to her stomach, and pulled her close, burrowing her nose in the crook of Arizona's neck. She closed her eyes, inhaled deeply, appreciating the fading scent of vanilla and cherry blossom, reveling in the unique smell that was purely Arizona, and without warning, the dam broke and hot tears rolled down her cheeks, followed by silent sobs. Feeling the tremor in Callie's hands, the disjointed breaths, and the moisture as it dripped onto her skin, Arizona turned and her heart broke at the sight of her wife's anguished expression.

Lifting her hands, she cupped Callie's cheeks in her palms, wiped her tears away with her thumbs, and whispered, "Oh baby, come here." She pulled her as close as she could, wrapped one arm around her shoulder and scratched at the stubble on the back of her head with the other, soothing, "Shh, we're home honey. We are safe. Sofia is safe and warm in her bed, you and I are safe in each other's arms, and our babies are safe inside me." As if to assure her wife, Arizona reached for Callie's hands, intertwined their fingers, and rested their hands on her stomach where the babies were shifting around restlessly. Callie took a deep breath, stared into cerulean blue eyes softened with love and concern, nodded and whispered, "I know, I'm sorry…I don't know…" Arizona quieted her with a sweet kiss and offered, "You don't need to apologize for loving us baby. I know how worried you were, I could feel your anxiety all the way home." Callie smiled sheepishly, nodded, and replied, "I think, I think with Sof's birthday coming up and you being so close to giving birth…I just, my mind got away from me and I got scared that something could happen." Releasing Callie's hand, Arizona caressed her cheek and said, "I know, I was scared too, I have been during my whole pregnancy, but we are home now and we will continue to be cautious and vigilant."

They stared at one another, both knowing they wouldn't make promises that everything would be okay or that the unthinkable couldn't happen. Instead, they focused upon the things they could control and that was their own discretion. Callie rubbed Arizona's stomach, leaned in, brushed their lips together and murmured, "Thank you for knowing me so well, for understanding me." The blonde smiled, kissed her again, and returned, "Thank you for loving me so well." Stepping back, she removed Callie's shirt, then her own, and suggested, "How about that bath then we can fall asleep in our own bed wrapped in each other's arms." Callie started nodding her agreement before Arizona finished her sentence and replied, "That sounds amazing."

Callie jolted awake early Friday morning, slightly disoriented and thoroughly exhausted. She barely remembered climbing into bed after their bath which was cut short by both of them drifting off to sleep as the water cooled around them. Lifting her head, she glanced around their darkened bedroom, noticed Arizona was fast asleep beside her, and wondered what caused her to wake up so suddenly. Peering through the shades and seeing the sun was just starting to rise and hearing nothing out of the ordinary, she lowered her head to the pillow, closed her eyes and hoped like hell she could go back to sleep. She was thankful they'd already decided to take the day off from work and keep Sofia home from school so they could all rest before the big birthday party on Saturday.

Rolling over to her side, she snuggled up to Arizona as best as she could with their stomachs pressed up against each other, rested her hand on her wife's side, too tired to notice she could no longer reach her back, and felt herself drifting off once again. She'd no sooner felt her breathing begin to settle and her body relax than she felt a sharp kick to her abdomen, followed by a low moan emanating from Arizona, causing her eyes to pop open once again. Staying still, she couldn't help but smile when it happened again and she realized this must have been what initially woke her up. She'd been able to feel the babies kick for several weeks now with her hand and occasionally when she hugged Arizona tight, but those kicks and movements were never this strong. What she was experiencing now was entirely new to her and made her feel an even deeper connection to her unborn children. Feeling another strong kick and hearing her wife moan louder, her smile quickly faded when she realized if she felt the kicks so sharply, it was nothing compared to what Arizona must be experiencing. Lifting her gaze to her wife's face, she could see the expression of discomfort, and heard the sleepy, "Calliope, make it stop."

Shimmying down the bed, she lifted Arizona's t-shirt, kissed the adorable outie belly button, and whispered, "Hey in there, mama needs her little gremlins to settle down so mommy can sleep." She tried her best to contain her giggle when she felt movement under her lips and continued, "It's far too early for you to be awake and mommy's body needs rest so she can feed you and keep you safe until it's time to come meet us." Realizing her voice only seemed to excite her unborn children more, she began rubbing soothing circles on the side of Arizona's stomach and softly sang, "Arrorró mi niño, arrorró mi sol, arrorró pedazo, de mi corazón. Este niño lindo, se quiere dormir, y el pícaro sueño, no quiere venir. Este lindo niño, se quiere dormir…cierra los ojitos, y los vuelve a abrir." Feeling the restless movement settle beneath her hand, Callie continued to sing the lullaby until she felt the squirming stop completely and Arizona's body relax beneath her touch, indicating she was no longer in pain. She kept rubbing Arizona's stomach, hoping that her babies would stay still and allow their mommy to sleep peacefully. Eventually, Callie also drifted off to sleep with her face pressed against Arizona's stomach.

"Mommy, mommy, wake up." Sofia whispered into Arizona's ear, while gently shaking her shoulder. She hated to wake her mommy up, knowing she had such a hard time on the drive home, but she couldn't find her mama and this was important. Only receiving a grumpy groan in response, she tried again, "Mommy, Aunt Addie's here and wants to know if I'm going to school." Trying to fight off the sleep that kept dragging her under, Arizona's eyes fluttered but didn't open, and she husked out in her sleepy raspy voice, "Mama and I decided to let you sleep today since we got home so late." Sofia deflated slightly, she was happy to have spent the week with her grandparents but she liked going to school and missed her friends. Tilting her head she asked, "But since I'm awake can I go? Aunt Addie said Uncle Jake will wait for me and she is packing me a lunch." Hearing the pleading tone in her daughter's voice, knowing she was probably standing over her bed with that hopeful look in her gorgeous puppy dog eyes, Arizona pulled herself into consciousness and finally opened her eyes to give their daughter the attention she deserved.

Taking a few seconds to adjust to the light, she blinked, then narrowed her eyes in confusion when she saw the empty pillow next to her and asked, "Where's mama? Can she help you get dressed?" She started to turn toward her daughter, wondering why she didn't ask Callie since she was obviously awake, when one of the babies shifted, causing her to jump and whimper, "Ow…oooh." She became further confused when she heard a gruff, "Ouch! Dammit," coming from under the covers. She turned her head in time to see Sofia try to stifle a giggle by covering her hand with her mouth and looked down toward where her wife's voice was coming from, realizing she must have crawled down to talk to the babies again. Both of them watched as the covers flipped up and Callie popped out, rubbing her nose, while glaring down at Arizona's protruding belly.

Sofia couldn't contain her laughter at seeing her mama with her hair sticking up all over her head, sporting her cranky morning face but it got caught in her throat when she followed her gaze to her mommy's stomach and her giggle turned into a gasp. Still trying to wake up and confused by what was happening, Arizona heard Sofia gasp and Callie's breath hitch and looked first to her daughter then to her wife and noticed they were wearing identical expressions of what could only be described as shock or maybe it was horror. Their eyes were wide and focused on her belly, their mouths were opened slightly, and their hands were frozen in midair like they wanted to reach out and touch her but were afraid to do so. Following their line of sight, her own eyes landed on her protruding belly and she not only felt but also saw what had them so enthralled.

Callie was woken from a sound sleep by a blow to her nose and popped up only to find her wife and daughter staring at her. Realizing that one of the gremlins must have kicked her, she glared down at Arizona's stomach, and her eyes widened when she noticed that it was sticking out even further if that was possible. Staring down at the skin so taut she could see the tiny blue veins; she reached out to caress her wife's stomach, worried that she was in pain but stopped short when she saw…actually watched with her own two eyes…a little bump appear and move across the front of Arizona's belly. Glancing up, she noticed both Sofia and Arizona staring as well and was sure by the looks on their faces that they had seen it too. She lifted her hand to scratch at the back of her head and muttered, "Well this is new." Before she or Arizona could say anything else, Sofia darted out of the room in a panic, yelling, "Aunt Addie, come look! Mommy needs you! Hurry!"

Startled blue eyes locked on sympathetic brown and Callie gently placed her hand on Arizona's now larger stomach and whispered, "Does it hurt?" Still staring at her body in disbelief, the blonde struggled to sit up, sighed in relief when Callie helped her, shook her head, and answered, "No more than it has been the last couple of days." Though she was well aware of what was probably happening and she'd had plenty of patients who carried multiples experience the same thing, feeling and seeing it happen to her own body was extremely shocking. She knew it was nothing to worry about, yet with her other physical challenges, this was only going to hinder her mobility further. Taking a deep breath, she tried to push those concerns aside and focus on assuring her family she was okay. She smiled softly when Callie lowered her head, kissed her enormous baby bump, then looked up with tears in her eyes, and worriedly asked, "Is this…um…is this normal? Are you okay? Are they?" Now seeing the fear in her wife's eyes, hearing the concern in her voice, Arizona lifted her hand to smooth down Callie's hair and softly replied, "It may not look like it, but yes baby, this is normal. We're all okay." Though she wasn't quite convinced, Callie nodded her head and continued to rub soothing circles on Arizona's stomach.

Feeling movement under her hand, Callie looked down to see a little bump about the size of her thumb appear next to her pinky finger, studied it closely, and in a voice filled with awe, she asked, "Is that…Arizona that, is that a foot?" Surprised by the question, Arizona followed her wife's gaze once again, realized she could indeed make out a tiny little foot, and tears sprang to her eyes as she lifted her hand, traced the imprint with her fingertip, and answered, "It sure looks like it." Both women watched as the foot disappeared then reappeared just as quickly, causing Arizona to jump and her breath to hitch at the jolt of pain she felt with the aggressive kick. Staring into each other's eyes, they let out a watery laugh at the visual proof that their babies were indeed alive and well and pulled each other into an awkward hug, hindered by the larger belly.

Their little moment was broken by the sound of bare feet slapping on the wood floor, followed by the quick click-clacking of heels. As they reached the door, Sofia pulled her aunt to her mommies' bed, pointed at her big belly, and nervously spat out, "Look! They're moving. Are they supposed to do that? Are we supposed to see it? Are they going to tear out of her skin? Is that how babies get here? Are they going to rip my mommy's belly open? HELP HER!" Though she wanted nothing more than to put the little girl's mind at ease, Addison took one look at her friend whose stomach had indeed grown substantially, and hissed out, "Holy shit!" Arizona and Callie both glared at the fetal surgeon and Arizona scolded, "Not helping Addison." Still giving her best friend the death stare, Callie reached out, carefully lifted Sofia into her lap, wiped away the tears that appeared in frightened little eyes so much like her own, and soothed, "It's okay baby. Mommy and your brothers and sister are fine. They aren't going to come out of mommy's belly and though it hurts when they move around, they aren't causing her any harm." She then sent up a silent prayer hoping she hadn't just lied to her daughter. Sofia sniffled, looked at her mama then her mommy, lowered her hand to rest next to her mama's on her mommy's belly, and asked, "Then what's happening?" She looked up to Addison and asked, "Why is her belly so big? Did another baby grow in there?"

Hearing the fear in her niece's voice, Addison finally snapped out of her initial shock, smoothly transitioned into doctor mode, looked at the little girl, then to her equally surprised parents, and gave the one answer she knew for certain, "First of all, there are no more babies in there, just the three we already knew about." She smiled when Sofia's shoulders sagged in relief and continued, "Do you remember how we explained that the babies sometimes move around to get more comfortable?" She watched as Sofia nodded slowly then looked to Arizona to continue the explanation since she knew this news would be more special to both Sofia and Callie if she delivered it herself. Realizing that her friend was wanting her to take over, Arizona sent her a grateful smile, covered the two hands that were resting on her stomach with her own, looked her little family in the eyes and explained, "When it comes close to the time for the babies to come out, they move around and start to get into position. Normally, when there is only one baby, we can't usually see it happening because there's a little bit of extra wiggle room. When there are more babies, the shared space gets tight and they will sometimes press up against mommy's tummy to make room for whoever is moving around."

Callie was so focused upon Sofia and making sure that she understood Arizona was okay, that she nearly missed what her wife was saying. When her words finally registered, her eyes snapped up to amused blue and she asked, "Into position? Are you…they're…um…I need more words Arizona." The blonde couldn't help but chuckle at her wife, while she was well aware that Callie's logical physician's brain knew this, right now she was not thinking as such and could only think with her emotions and seeing this new change was clouding her thought processes. Reaching for Callie's hand, she linked their fingers and declared, "I'm sure my doctor wants to give me a thorough examination and get a better look with the ultrasound, but I'm almost positive the gremlins are working on turning themselves around and fighting over who is coming out to meet us first." She then looked down at her stomach and finished, "Right now, it looks like one of them moved to the front of my belly and is lying on top of the others. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say little Rainbow is wanting to be the first to bust out of there."

Sofia's eyes grew wide and she blurted, "TODAY? They are coming today! But you said it was too soon!" Both Addison and Arizona shook their heads in the negative and Addison picked up, "No honey. Your mommy is right though, I do want to take a look at the babies and see what's going on in there but it will be a few more weeks yet. While it may seem like they are doing somersaults in there, it will take a while for all of them to turn around completely and be ready to move out of their cozy little womb." Feeling like she was finally understanding, Sofia nodded, looked from her mama to her mommy once again and asked, "Can I come too?" Arizona smirked and teased, "I thought you were excited to go to school to see your friends." Sofia stared at her mommy's belly, watched as one of her babies moved again, bit her bottom lip nervously, put on a brave front, and answered, "I think maybe I should come too. They might not know what is going on in there and need their big sister to help them understand." Knowing she wasn't in any danger and her daughter needed reassurance, Arizona nodded her approval, kissed her furrowed little brow, and agreed, "I think that's a good idea. They will always need their big sister to help them through scary times." She then looked to Callie and asked, "What do you think mama?"

Still trying to process the news that within a few short weeks she would be a mother of four, Callie swallowed thickly, squeezed her daughter's hand, ran her fingers through the tangled strands of thick brown curls and suggested, "Why don't you go take a shower, brush your teeth and get ready, then we can stop to get a quick breakfast and go to the center to see what your babies are up to." Sofia nodded, then scurried off the end of the bed, careful not to bump her mommy's belly. Once her feet hit the floor, she rushed off to her room to get ready to see her babies. As soon as Sofia left the room, Callie looked to Addison and Arizona and though she knew Arizona wouldn't agree to have Sofia there if she suspected something was wrong, she nervously asked, "There's nothing to worry about?" Arizona shook her head, brought their intertwined hands to her mouth, kissed Callie's fingers, and answered, "Other than needing to go maternity clothes shopping again, no baby, there's nothing to worry about. I'm not in any danger and there's no real pain, just the usual discomfort, which, based upon the intensity of it the last few days, I should have realized that this was happening." Seeing that Arizona was not worried nor upset and clearly wasn't hiding anything, Callie started to relax and let out a slow even breath to release the tension that had built up in her body since she awoke.

Addison wasn't as relieved however, furrowed her brows in concern and asked, "You've been having problems this week?" Arizona blushed slightly and admitted, "I was in a little bit of pain Wednesday, my back and legs were cramping but I thought that um…" She trailed off, leaving the redhead to fill in the blanks with, "Too many homeruns." All three women laughed as the blonde nodded and continued, "And yesterday, on the way home it was just…" "Awful!" Callie finished for her and went on to explain, "She was extremely uncomfortable, her legs and back were cramping, the babies were moving around and playing football with her bladder, and we made several stops. I just thought it was the car ride and sitting still for so long though." Arizona nodded and agreed, "We both did." Addison held up her hand, silently asking for permission to touch Arizona's stomach, received the nod of approval, then proceeded to feel around and palpate the entire area until she felt a strong kick or punch to her hand which made both her and Arizona jump in surprise. Standing back up, she confirmed, "I think you're right; someone is moving around in there trying to flip over. That's probably the cause for the added pain and discomfort."

Callie chuckled and replied, "I'm just kinda relieved to know this is normal. Earlier this morning, something woke me up and I didn't know what it was. I laid back down and before I could go back to sleep, I felt a kick to my stomach." Arizona laughed and asked, "Is that why you were buried under the covers?" Callie blushed slightly and replied, "Yeah, they were so restless and I don't think you were even awake, but you asked me to make it stop, so I slid down to talk to them and tell them to let you sleep. That only got them riled up so I sang to them until they settled down and I must have fallen asleep too. I woke up when I got hit in the nose." Both women burst into laughter and Callie lifted her hand to her face as if it still hurt and whined, "It's not funny! That shit hurts." Arizona chuckled, leaned in to kiss her wife's nose and muttered, "Now you know how I feel."

Seeing that all was right in her friend's world, aside from what was going to be a very uncomfortable conclusion to her pregnancy, Addison declared, "Okay Sigourney, if you're sure your babies aren't going to bust out of your chest, I'm going to head out before my ride leaves." Glaring at her supposed best friend, Callie reached next to her, grabbed a pillow, threw it at Addison's face and ordered, "Shut up! My babies are not aliens." Arizona laughed at the ridiculous conversation, shook her head and asked, "When will you be free?" Addison looked at her watch and answered, "I'm free for an hour at 10 o'clock. I have surgery scheduled at 11:15." Arizona nodded and replied, "We'll be there." Addie smiled at her two friends and added, "I'll call Max on the way in and see if he can add you to his schedule as well." She then offered a little wave and left the room, closing the door behind her.

Settling back against the headboard, Callie studied Arizona's face carefully and though she was smiling, she could see lingering traces of concern and if she wasn't mistaken, fear in her sparkling blue eyes. Wrapping her left arm around Arizona's shoulder, and resting her right hand on her stomach, she quietly asked, "How are you really?" Arizona knew she couldn't hide anything from her astute wife, sighed, laid her head on her chest, and warily admitted, "I think I'm done working…at the center anyway." Callie tilted her head so she could study Arizona's face and the blonde continued, "I'm afraid to stand up. I can already tell just by looking that my center of gravity will be off and I think that maybe my right leg has been cramping because I am unconsciously overcompensating." Knowing that was difficult for her wife to admit, Callie pulled her closer, kissed the top of her head, and whispered, "You might be right. It's your choice honey. I just want you and the babies safe." Though she wanted nothing more than to just tell her wife to stay home and stay off her feet or to take over and examine her legs and prosthetic now, she knew this was one of those times where Arizona may be feeling that she had little control over the changes in her body and needed to be the one to make decisions about what she wanted to do. Here, in their home, she was the wife, not the orthopedic specialist and she'd promised that she wouldn't cross that line unless she was asked to do so. Feeling the babies move around again, she started rubbing soothing circles on Arizona's stomach and asked, "What are you thinking? What would you like to do about that?"

Arizona knew Callie was extremely worried about her well-being and was honestly surprised her over-protective wife didn't jump to agree that she should stop working or already have her on her feet, testing her gait, and suggesting they make changes to her prosthetic. She couldn't help but smile at her questions and realized she shouldn't have been surprised by her behavior at all; true to her word, she had taken the doctor hat off and in this moment, when she needed her the most, she was simply being her wife and allowing her to make her own choices. Lifting her head up, she brushed their lips together as a silent thank you and answered, "I think after my ultrasound, I should head across the street to visit my amazing prosthetist and ask her to take a look at my prosthetic to see if she can make some adjustments to help alleviate the cramping in my leg and back." Callie smiled and replied, "I think she is off this week, something about winning a prestigious award, but I'm sure for you she will make an exception." Smiling gratefully, Arizona nodded and declared, "I love you. Do you know that?" Relieved she'd handled things the way Arizona needed her to, Callie kissed her nose and answered, "I do know that and I love you too." Arizona pulled her in for a longer more demanding kiss and poured every ounce of gratitude and love she had into it.

Pulling back before she got distracted, Callie slid out of bed, walked to Arizona's side, picked up her prosthetic and asked, "How do you want to do this?" Relieved once again that Callie was following her lead, Arizona struggled to pull herself into a further sitting position then responded, "I think we should just stick to our normal routine and see if I feel off kilter when I walk. Just stay close." Callie nodded her agreement, slid the robotic limb onto Arizona's shortened thigh, sealed it into place, then helped her to her feet, holding on just a little longer to make sure she was steady. Feeling as if she had her balance, Arizona nodded for Callie to release her, took three steps forward, felt a jolt of pain shoot up her right leg, and threw her arm out to reach for Callie when she started to feel unsteady.

Callie quickly grabbed Arizona's right arm with hers, wrapped her left arm around her lower back and asked, "What is it? Are you in pain?" Arizona nodded and answered, "My right leg is still hurting and I feel like I am tilting forward." Taking more of Arizona's weight, Callie guided her to the bathroom and suggested, "I think the tilting forward part is self-explanatory, your center of gravity has, in fact, shifted. As for the cramping and pain in your right leg, we'll take a look after the ultrasound and figure it out. I'm sure there is some overcompensation like you said, we may have to add a little weight to your prosthetic so you feel more secure." Leaning against the counter while Callie prepared their toothbrushes, Arizona tried to look at herself in the full-length mirror behind the door and grumbled, "Great, that's all I need, more weight to lug around." Though she couldn't be certain, Callie had an idea that her wife was worried this was the end of her mobility and independence for quite some time and knew she had to tread lightly. After preparing the toothbrushes, she handed Arizona's off and soothed, "Let's just see what's going on with the gremlins, then we will take a better look at your leg and see what we come up with. Right now I'm just making assumptions and you and I both know where that can lead us."

Arizona smirked at Callie's teasingly self-deprecating remark and knew her wife understood her unspoken fears. Relaxing slightly, she turned toward the sink and quipped, "Well you know what they say when you assume Calliope." Callie smiled, gently bumped her wife's elbow and replied, "Yeah well, I'd rather not make an ass of myself, so we will just have to wait and see." She then arched her brow, glanced at her wife in the mirror, and just to prove she could leave the doctor hat off, joked, "You should probably call your prosthetist and see if she can come in today. She might be busy taking care of her pregnant wife and being dragged from one maternity store to another to spend her hard earned award money." Arizona narrowed her eyes and reminded her, "She also needs to figure out how to sneak away, buy a bike for her daughter's birthday, and work on putting it together since she claims to be so good with her hands." Callie gasped, held up the hands in question, turned them around and proclaimed, "I'll have you know these are million dollar, award winning hands, and they are very skilled with power tools. I have had absolutely zero complaints about these hands." Arizona shivered at the deliberate mention of power tools, lost her train of thought completely, and growled, "You won't be getting any complaints from me." She then leaned forward, gave Callie a smacking kiss on the lips, and knew in that moment, no matter what the next few weeks looked like for her, she had her wife's undying love and support.

After a long shower in which Arizona found herself relegated to the bench for safety reasons, several outfit changes to find something comfortable to wear, and a fast food breakfast of greasy sausage sandwiches, the small family slowly made their way into the Robbins-Herman Center. As Arizona waddled into the lobby, leaning heavily on her wife for balance, she noticed Max standing at the front desk and burst into a fit of giggles when he reached behind the desk and turned around holding a very large head of cauliflower in his hands and whispered, "When does he get these things?" Callie just shook her head, still amused by the little tradition, and both women watched as Sofia ran up to him and excitedly asked, "Is that my babies?" The older man nodded, handed it to her and answered, "That's right, they are the size of cauliflower now." He started chuckling when Callie mumbled, "Great, one of my wife's doctors calls my kids aliens and the other refers to them as vegetables, I'm beginning to lose faith in this place." Arizona leaned harder against her and murmured, "Says the mother who calls her own children gremlins and crack babies." Callie glared at her teasingly and muttered, "Oh hush," then leaned down and kissed the smirk off her face.

Max looked at his boss, did a double take, and declared, "Damn, I thought Addie was exaggerating." Arizona rubbed her belly, shook her head and replied, "Nope! Babies are on the move." Smiling brightly, he grabbed his tablet off the countertop of the receptionist's desk while saying, "Well then, let's go see what they're up to." As they all started making their way across the lobby, Addison was coming down the stairs and stopped when she noticed how slow Arizona was moving. She hadn't said anything to them earlier because she wanted to do a thorough exam first, but she knew now that she was going to have to make some suggestions that she was sure neither of her friends would respond very well to. She'd already shared her opinion with Max and though he too wanted to see Arizona and get a complete workup, she was certain he would support her.

Once they were all in the room, Addison started washing her hands, looked to Arizona and declared, "Well, this is the big appointment, so we need to do a thorough examination." Callie arched her brow and asked, "The big appointment?" Arizona nodded, stepped up on the scale, watching as the numbers continued to climb, and answered, "When the babies start to get into position, we do final blood work, weight, measurement, and discuss the final birthing plan." Stepping off the scale, she looked at Addison and relayed, "I've gained 55 pounds since my since my initial work up." Max tapped her weight into the tablet, nodded in confirmation, and Addie replied, "Perfect, as you know, the average recommended weight gain for someone of your size is between 50 and 60 pounds for multiples." Sofia tilted her head and asked, "Is that good? Does that mean the babies weigh 55 pounds all together?" Callie chuckled, shook her head and explained, "No baby, Aunt Addie will tell us what the babies weigh in a minute, but that means mommy is still in the healthy range and she hasn't gained too much or not enough weight and she and the babies are getting the nutrients they need to stay healthy.

Max pulled a measuring tape from his pocket, handed one end to Arizona who rested it just above her naval, and agreed, "Your mommy and your babies all seem to be normal." Addison snorted and mumbled, "I wouldn't go that far," receiving a glare from both Callie and Arizona. Ignoring the comment, Max wrapped the measuring tape around Arizona's waist with Callie's help since she was helping her to keep her balance, and stated, "Forty-three and a half inches. According to your chart, that's two and a half inches more than it was at your 28 week checkup, which was two weeks ago." Arizona snorted and quipped, "That's two and a half inches more than it was 4 days ago." Addison nodded and added, "While you're out shopping today, keep in mind that depending on how long they choose to hang around in there, you could possibly gain up to five more pounds and three to four more inches." Arizona sighed, looked to Callie and asked, "Can you just call Stevie and ask if we can borrow their tent?" Callie laughed, kissed her nose, guided her to the exam chair, and replied, "You're gorgeous and its only a few more weeks." Arizona smiled gratefully, eased herself onto the chair, and murmured, "Thank you baby." Callie winked, helped her get settled, brushed her sweat damp hair from her forehead and whispered, "I only speak the truth."

Once she was certain her wife was comfortable, Callie went through her normal routine of lifting her shirt, lowering her pants, and tucking the protective cloth over each to make sure the gel didn't get on her clothes. When she turned around, she laughed when she saw that Addison was holding out the tube of gel for her and had already turned on the water to get it hot. Seeing that her mommy flinched and was rubbing her tummy, Sofia rushed to her side and asked, "Are they moving around mommy? Does it hurt?" Arizona smiled at her daughter, raised her hand to smooth her unruly curls and answered, "They are. It's not bad baby girl, it just feels like a bad tummy ache." Sofia pouted and suggested, "Maybe they are scared." She then laid her hand next to her mommy's, leaned forward and cooed, "Hey babies, it's me Sofia. We are at the center now and Aunt Addie is going to take your pictures. There's nothing to be afraid of, I promise. Mama is here and Max and Aunt Addie and me and none of us will let anything happen to you or mommy." She kissed her mommy's belly, looked up to her mama who was now standing behind her and whispered, "They stopped moving, I don't think they are scared anymore." Callie kissed her daughter's forehead and answered, "That's because they have the best big sister ever." She took Sofia's hand, guided her back to the chair and offered, "Let's get out of Addie's way so she can work her magic and show us your babies." Sofia nodded, sat down, and waited for the fuzzy picture to appear on the screen.

Addison squirted the gel on Arizona's stomach, moved the wand to spread it around, tapped on the keys to turn the camera on, then placed the wand just above the naval. When the grainy image started to come into view, she laughed and cooed, "Awe look at the little tooshie." Arizona smiled at the comment, looked at the screen, furrowed her brows, and requested, "Addie, can you move the wand upward slowly?" Hearing the tone in her friend's voice, Addie did as she was asked, realized what the blonde was seeing and hissed, "Oh boy." Instantly alarmed, Callie squeezed Arizona's hand and frantically asked, "Oh boy what?" When she wasn't getting an answer, she glanced down to see Arizona's tear-filled gaze was locked on the screen and asked, "Baby, what is it? You're scaring…" She trailed off when she felt a hand on her chin forcing her to look at the screen. Narrowing her eyes, she focused on the tiny little spine…the tiny little spine that was underneath that cute little tooshie and not above it like they'd expected. Feeling like she'd gotten the wind knocked out of her, she leaned against Arizona's exam chair and muttered, "Oh boy."

A/N: I know you probably want to kill me right now for going MIA. If you read my other story, you know I've had a difficult recovery from my surgery. Still, I never meant to be gone so long. While this chapter is much shorter than all the others, I wanted to give you something to know I was back and have not abandoned this story. As I said in the other story, I have put entirely too much time, effort, and love into these stories to allow them to go unfinished. Thank you to all of you who have stuck with me and for all the messages checking on my well-being.
