Summary: She is a morning person… but not this early of a morning person.

Tohru was sure she had set her phone on silent. She had it on SILENT.

So why on God's green earth is it ringing right now?

She turned to her other side, wanting to drown out the noise the phone was making, but it continued to ring incessantly, as if determined to make her realize the urgency of whoever was calling. She is a morning person… but not this early of a morning person.

Scratching her head and half-awake, she fished for her phone beside her, hand feeling for the rectangular piece of communication device on her nightstand until she found it but nearly knocking it off the table. That did the trick – she was awake now and she stared into the glowing screen, finally realizing a second too late that it was Momiji who is calling.

She looked at the time – 2:46 am. Why is he calling at this hour? Oh no. Is it an emergency? She hurriedly swiped to answer. "Moshi-moshi. Momiji-kun? What is going on are you okay?"

"Hi, Tohru. Sorry for waking you up. I'm outside right now."

Tohru was confused. "What? Why are you outside at 2 in the morning?"

"Let's go up to the roof. Trust me, you have nothing to worry about. I brought us some blankets. Come on, we might miss it."

"Might miss what?"

"Just let me come in, okay? And don't kill me."

Tohru, with large floating question marks on her head, hurriedly wrapped one of her sweaters around her and went out of her room, taking extra care at walking, not wanting the boys to wake up. Finally managing to reach the front door shoji, she hurriedly unlatched it to reveal Momiji outside, wearing a thick coat and true to his word – carrying some blankets.

"There you are." He said in way of greeting, obviously exhausted but giving her a bright smile. "Don't kill me please. Let's go up to the roof. I want to show you something."

"I won't and good morning to you too." She took some of the blankets from him, unable to resist smiling albeit worried with his tired state. "You still look half-asleep, Momiji."

He chuckled. "I kind of still am, but once we've climbed up I'll be awake. I won't let you fall off the roof by accident."

"You've gone all the way here and you're still not awake?" She teased as they both made their way up to her room so that they can get out onto the roof.

"Yeah, I am weird that way. Come on."

They hurried over to her room, taking extra care at climbing out the window – one to not wake the others up, one to be careful while finding a spot where they can sit comfortably and not fall off. Momiji made sure to wrap her in a thick blanket, and he placed his over his lap.

"I'm guessing you want to show me something up in the sky?" She asked, now more receptive and actually excited as Momiji grinned.

"Yes, Princess. Let's wait. It'll be worth it, I promise."

She stared up, not knowing what she was looking for but curious and excited nonetheless. Nothing happened for the first ten minutes, until she saw the first thin streak.

"Oh my goodness." She gasped, as the sky then lit up with what seemed to be hundreds of shooting stars, flashing through the sky in thin streaks of bright lights, appearing and disappearing within seconds. "I didn't know there's a meteor shower today!" She exclaimed, indescribably happy.

"My classmates had been talking about it, which is why I knew when to watch out for it." Momiji explained, stretching. "I didn't want to miss it, so I set an alarm."

Tohru glanced at him, catching him staring at her instead of the beautiful heavenly display. Something about his gaze on her made her blush. "T-Thank you. I know you're not used to waking up so early, Momiji-kun."

He smiled at her, the flashing of the lights giving him an almost ethereal, otherworldly look. "I'm just glad you didn't decide to murder me for kicking you awake so early."

She laughed. "I would've, if it's another person… but it's you, so I didn't."

Momiji raised an eyebrow. "So Honda Tohru can actually consider murder huh. Regardless… I'm honored." He placed his hand over his heart solemnly. "Did you make a wish? That's a must."

"I almost forgot!"

She closed her eyes, clasping her hands and hurriedly making a wish. When she opened them a minute later, her eyes widened upon seeing him holding out a bigger-than-normal cupcake with a single lit candle on it.

"Happy Birthday." He whispered, and for some reason, her eyes became watery. "It's a little squished, but I hope you like it nonetheless."

Tohru forgot – today was actually her birthday. "Momiji…" she trailed off, emotion clogging her throat. He grinned, before wrapping an arm around her sideways and kissing her on the temple.

"I know." He said, rubbing her shoulder as she looked up to him, a watery smile on her lips. "Go on. You're done with the wish, blow out the candle."

She did so, with great relish, and hugged him around the waist sideways as they both looked up to the beautiful, natural display which were beginning to lessen in number. "Thank you, Momiji. For remembering and showing me this."

"I will never forget. Ever." He assured her, holding her hand in his. "Want to take a picture? This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment." He teased, and she giggled.

"Yes, please."

He fished his phone from his pockets, and they scooted closer as space allowed at a satisfying angle where they can capture the photo with the meteor shower in the background as much as possible. With huge smiles on their faces, Momiji snapped the photo.

"Take another." Tohru requested, and Momiji held up his phone again, but she surprised him when she kissed him on the cheek.

Later, almost the entire school was in uproar when Honda Tohru, using social media for the first time, uploaded the photo she had taken with Soma Momiji, captioned "Best Birthday Ever."
