Shadow and Muse are bondmates, which means they may talk telepathically to humans. Shadow is a wolf and Muse is the falcon. There humans, as far as they go in thus story, are Conall and Lark.
Conall and Lark are brother and sister.
Kayda is also their sister, except she's of royalty.
I MIGHT add more later, if I may think of anything.
It was a cold winter's evening and Conall and his family were sheltering from the snow inside. They had spent the summer with another family nearby, as Conall worked with them and other people to restore the barn and farmhouse to it's former glory.
Ereni had spent some of that time preparing for the winter by knitting the wolf, Shadow and the dog, Sunny sweaters to stave off the cold. The barn animals were warm and toasty in the barn. Shadow and (according to Shadow), Sunny didn't need extra warmth, since there was a roaring fireplace, but they obeyed. (Conall didn't complain. He was happy to have nice clothes from his now wife.)
Kayda was the same. She had returned to Dracwood, but had obviously not forgotten them. She had sent lavish robes, lumber supplies, bread and cheese rations and even 200 gold coins.
Clearly she hadn't a clue what riches commoners were used to.
Lark and Aren were visiting soon. They couldn't wait to see the baby.
Violet was a healthy baby girl. She was in the crawling stage. Sometimes Violet would curl up by the fireplace, resting by Sunny.
It was at these times that Shadow would stare almost longingly at the two of them together.
When Conall would ask why, Shadow would say, "Soon, little brother. Soon,".

Lark and her fiance, Aren, arrived at the farm house for a visit. Ereni had a tiny sweater for the falcon, Muse.
Lark held the baby while the grownups talked.
"So, did you get money from Kayda, too?" Conall asked.
Lark nodded.
Then she noticed something.
"Don't you think Sunny is...Gaining some weight?" Lark asked Conall.
Conall glanced over to the dog. "Huh. I haven't noticed."
"It's probably all that food that Kayda's plumping you up with," Muse laughed.
"It's probably that food that Kayda's plumping all you people up with," Muse laughed.
"We don't feed our animals that stuff," Ereni said. "They hunt for themselves."
"Shadow's been hunting for Sunny for a while now, though," said Conall.
"I've been wanting to see Lark give birth to a baby animal for a while now," Aren said.
"You birth baby animals?" Ereni asked Lark.
"Oh, yes! On the farm. For years, now, sheep, goats, cows. The works,"
All at once, Sunny started to whine in the corner.
Shadow bolted to her side.
"Little brother! Get your sister to help!" he said.
Soon, Sunny was in full labor.

Soon, Sunny had given birth to three baby pups-two were girls with golden fur and a boy with gray fur.
"We should each have one," said Conall. "I'll have the gray one, if you'll allow?"
"If I may have one and give the other to Kayda," Lark asked.
Conall scooped up the wolf-dog pup in his arms. "I'll call you, 'Gray'."
Lark did the same. "'Goldy'.
"Well, a pup should be named as soon as possible," Conall gestured to the final one.
Then they found a patch on the back of her neck.
"A red patch?" Conall asked the people around the room.
"'Red'!" Lark agreed.
And so each party got a puppy-Gray, Golden and Red.
