Chapter 3

Lena went to the bar with a couple of her friends not too far from where she lived. She caught up with her friends, knowing they had busy schedules. It gave her a chance to watch out for any vampires. After a good couple of hours, her friends were next to her with men talking to them. Spike was there noticing Lena talking and decided to walk her direction. He noticed she looked nice with her hair curled some and make-up. Spike always found her to be very beautiful. It wasn't like him to find a slayer that was attractive. He thought about the past at times, and remembering Buffy's attitude towards him was never the best. Lena was different when it came to respect.

"Spike." Lena said, knowing he was there. It was an ability all slayers had being able to identify the vampire behind them.

"I was around and saw you here," Spike spoke.

Lena turned to look at him. "I figured as much."

Spike looked at her, feeling nothing but love. He realized that he was in love with her. It just took him a while to allow himself to realize it. Spike was different now. He had time to get over things and move on. Having a soul helped him learn and rationalize many things.

"Want to get out of here?" He asked her.

"Yeah." Lena said her goodbyes byes leaving with Spike to his place. He managed to find a place like he had in Sunny Dale . He led her inside, and he had his bed and tv along with a fridge and chair.

"There's something different about you. I can sense it," Spike said, taking a step closer to her.

"Maybe because I'm half vampire. Giles told me that there could be a possibility my scent makes it difficult for vampires to figure out if I'm a slayer, but I disagree. You figured it out," Lena explained.

Spike tempted to get closer, wrapping his arms around her waist. Her hands moved to his shoulders, pulling him back some to look at him. Having a soul allowed him to feel more emotion than before. He was almost hesitant admitting his feelings, remembering how Buffy reacted when he told her he loved her. Spike has known her long enough to know that he was in love with her. It took some time, but these past few months, she was all he thought about.

"I'm in love with you," Spike said, taking a chance.

That seemed to catch Lena off guard. "I never thought you would see me that way," Lena said a bit in shock.

He took her hand, kissing it. "You're the only slayer that treated me differently. You respected me and never turned me away. You've done things you didn't have to, but that showed me you cared.."

Not knowing what to say, Lena leaned in kissing him on the lips. She always wondered what it was like to kiss Spike, feeling like what she imagined. Lena pulled back to look at him. "You're so sweet." She looked into his eyes.

"It's going to take me some time to catch up to you." Hearing that, Spike could understand, feeling thankful she didn't reject him. His lips met hers, kissing her deeply, lifting her up, setting her on the bed as they continued. For once, she felt like she didn't have to be careful wrapping her arms around a guys neck. It seemed like any man she dated she couldn't use her full strength without hurting them.

Lena pulled back to look at him. "Am I hurting you? I have never been with someone who I could kiss and hold them without worrying about hurting them."

"No, that's the difference between us and humans, pet we're much stronger." They both laid there as he held her in his arms. He missed having someone this close to him.

"So this is who you were before you lost your soul?"

"Yes, it took me a while to realize that and learn to deal with my mistakes I've made," Spike said, pulling her close to him.

"Makes sense," Lena said, a little surprised.

Spike played with her hair a little. "I just had to get to know you. Not all pretty women are as nice as you were to me. I was almost shocked you didn't tell me to get lost."

"Well, it's not very often a vampire wants to not kill me right then and there. I was waiting to see if I had to kick your ass," Lena nudged him a little.

His lips met hers as he kissed her. Spike knew he was tempted to take this further. He could sense that she wanted him. Then he felt his shirt starting to lift off him. He allowed her to remove it continuing to kiss her.

When she saw him without his shirt, Lena noticed his muscular body and how good he looked without it. Before they could go any further, there was a knock at the door. "Bloody hell," Spike said, getting off her.

Spike put his shirt back on unlocking his door, opening it. Lena was already standing there, walking up to the door.

Angel was at the door, and Spike sighed, not too surprised he was there. "Angel." Lena said, recognizing him.

"Hey guys." Before he could say anything, Lena picked up a sharp item off the ground. She noticed a vampire a small distance behind him.

"Behind you." Angel quickly turned around seeing a vampire behind him. He moved as Lena through the sharp piece at him, getting them right in the heart as they turned to dust.

A couple more vampires came behind her. Lena kicked and punching him across the face. Spike tossed her a stake as she was able to stake the other one. The way she fought reminded them of watching a martial arts movie. There were a lot of things she knew that Buffy probably was never been taught. Both men looked impressed with her fighting skills.

Lena killed that last vampire looking at both men. "Gotta love martial arts."

"Not bad, pet," Spike said, impressed.

"Years of martial arts training. I just quit not that long ago," Lena walked up to them. "Look, if you want to learn anything, I can teach you."

"I might take you up on that. My reason for coming here is a lot more things have been happening," Angel said, looking in between them.

"No wonder why I had to kill a few more than usual." Lena's phone rang, and she answered it.

Both Angel and Spike stood there talking to one another. Angel sensed something going on with Spike. "You're in love with her, aren't you?" Angel questioned him.

"Does it matter?" Spike looked at Angel half annoyed.

"I see the way you look at her. I mean, she's not Buffy." Angel nudged him.

"She's not her she's different. I didn't think I could love someone, and I met her, and it happened," Spike explained.

Angel sighed at that, not sure what to think. "Be honest. What do you want from her?"

"I want nothing more than to love her and be the man I never got the chance to be with anyone. I've had time to get over Buffy. I moved on."

Hearing that made Angel actually believe him. Having a soul really changed him except for annoying him most of the time. Maybe he thought Spike really did find happiness. Lena walked over to the guys.

"Sorry, that was my brother he's coming here in a few days. I need to get home," she yawned.

"I'll see you in the morning," Angel said nicely to Lena. Angel looked at Spike, figuring he would go home with her. He missed having someone he could be with. Like Spike, he kept his distance from women, focusing on keeping humans safe. For once, he actually felt happy for Spike.

When they got back to Lena's apartment, she changed, getting into bed, allowing Spike to sleep next to her. It almost felt weird that her and Spike were more than just friends. She always in her mind always thought he was hot, not admitting it.

Instead of speaking, their lips met as they kissed one another. "I better get some rest." Spike laid down next to her.

Lena drifted off to sleep, and the next morning came with a note from Spike, letting her know he would meet her at Angel's office. She got herself together, showered and dressed for the next day. She wore black pants and a nice shirt. Her hair was curled some along with putting on some makeup.

Lena grabbed some food and headed to the office. She went up the elevator to the second floor. When the door opened, she walked in, finding Angel talking to the blonde at the front desk. "Morning," Lena walked up to him.

Angel smiled a little, slowly learning why Spike was so into her. She seemed a lot calmer than Buffy but had no problem fighting if she had to. "I got some free time. I can show you around," Angel said nicely.

He led her around, showing what this place was about. They talked some and he got to know her more. Spike came into the room seeing both Angel and Lena talking.

"Excuse me, I got someone calling for me," Angel said, leaving them.

"Nice to see you and Angel getting along," Spike said, walking up to her.

"Very funny, jealous, are you?"

"What of captain forehead? You got to be off your bird," Spike said, brushing it off.

"Whatever," Lena walked passed him going into her office. Spike followed her to her office.

"What does that suppose to mean?"

"Whatever you want it to mean." Lena said, sitting at her desk and turning on her laptop.

"Who kissed who?" Spike approached her reminding her.

Lena got in her purse, hanging Spike her change. "Can you grab me a coke?"

"I thought you were actually giving it to me," Spike said sarcastically.

Lena stood up from her chair. "Please." She she said use to his sarcasm.

Spike knew he couldn't say no knowing he would do anything for her. "I'll be right back." He left the room, allowing her to get her work together. She didn't have much to do, and Angel didn't start her with too much.

"Hey, can you be my secretary today? Harmony called in today," Angel came in the room.

"Yeah." Spike came in giving Lena her soda.

"I got to play secretary for Angel." Lena said, leaving the room.

Most of the day, Lena had to bring stuff to Angel. Spike helped out with what he could. Lena started realizing how much Spike had been there for her. He had done more than any man she knew has done. She felt her feelings for him start to change into something more.

After Angel had her do what he needed, she sat at her desk, doing a little bit of typing that she had to do. Spike came in seeing her.

"Can you shut the door?" Lena asked him.

Spike shut the door sitting next to her. "We never really talked about where we stand. What do you want?"

"You already know want I want." Spike put his hand on her knee.

"Right." Lena said, not sure how to explain it.

Spike looked at her, unsure of what she meant by asking. He knew they never really talked about it. It was nice to see a different side of Spike for once. He seemed so kind and gentle towards her more now."Are you sleeping over tonight?" Lena changed the subject.

"I was planning on it, love."

"Guess we'll be patrolling tonight first."

"Are you alright?" Spike noticed the moment of silence.

"I'm sorry it's been a long time since I've been with anyone. Kind of rusty in that department," Lena looked at him.

"Really?"

"Not so great relationship sort of thing. Part of me wanted to give up on the whole dating scene."

"I understand that all too well." It was something Spike could relate with his past failed attempts of having a relationship.
