"Hey guys, don't run off. Stay close by!" Lee Yelled to the girls. After leaving their neighborhood, they, made a stop by a gas station. There was one near the neighborhood, but not directly in it. Right off the corner of the road actually.

"Okay!" Sierra yelled, her sister was to busy running inside the gas station, looking for a snack. Lee, outside still with Shawn, was examining the outside of the gas station. Literally up the road were a few abandoned cars, going all the way up the road, some were scattered in the grass as well. Probably still filled with full tanks of gas.

"NO GAS" A sign was made, hanging from the window of the gas station. Lee chuckled. He hurried inside with the girls, wanting to make sure they were okay. Chet, was also inside, looking around. They didn't see anyone else though. The place however was a mess. Raided to be honest. There was a fan still running, on the counter. Lots of papers, presumably newspapers were scattered all over the floor.

They didn't see any dead bodies around. Not blood on the floor, or walls either. The girls were looking around the shelves, looking for snacks and drinks.

"Lee..?" Sierra, looked over to lee.

"Yeah? You okay?" He asked, concerned.

"I'm okay, just hungry.. " She replied. Hmm, he thought to himself, as he looked around. No one was around. Somethings around the store seemed to have been taken. No cashier? Money was even scattered all over the floor as well. He slid both hands in his front and back pockets until he pulled out his wallet or even loose change.

"Here, " He pulled out a handful of money, Dollar bills, and a few fives, and a couple of quarters, placing them on the counter. "You and your sister grab whatever you guys want, okay?"

The girls jumped with excitement, and ran and hugged lee, "Thank you!" they both said happily, before running off and finding different snacks to grab and share. He smiled.

"You both are welcome, stay close to where I can see you guys" he yelled as they were already roaming around. He Heard them yell back. He chuckled a little, he looked around himself, he looked over the counter, he saw an open black back pack, it was a kids back pack, school bag specifically. He picked it up, placed it on the counter, looking inside. Maybe someone was here? But why leave a bag full of money? Lee sighed. He didn't care for money, just the bag.

He poured all the money and wallets out on the counter, cleaning it out and checking the other pockets of the bag. "Hmmm.. Empty pockets. That's good." He zipped the empty bag back up, "The girls will like the bag."

"We can't stay here much longer." Shawn stated to himself. He's been keeping watch, making sure no more of those things, those people or whatever they are show up. He got out of the truck, and closed the door, but made sure to slide the keys in his pockets before doing so.

He looked around and noticed how quiet it was. "I don't Like this.." He muttered to himself.

He started to head inside the gas station to get the others, but something else got his attention. A Little girl. She was maybe, at least eight? Close to sierra and Jaida's Age. He just stood there, looking at her, in shock. "What the fuck is going on..?!" Was all he could think in the moment.

Half of her mouth looked as if it was mauled off, by who though..? One of those things? Her yellow dress is covered in blood, her nose had dried blood, looked like she had a nose bleed recently. She didn't have any shoes on either. She was holding something, a stuff animal. It was a teddy bear, white bear, but it had blood stains on it. Maybe she was alive recently? Maybe there are other people nearby? She didn't move, but she didn't try to attack Shawn either.

He noticed, not far behind the little girl was more of them, not far from her. Heading towards the gas station.

"I have to get to the others. I can't leave them. " Shawn thought. Of course he wouldn't leave anyone behind, especially not kids. "Fuck it!" He ran inside, yelling for the others.

"Guys! WE GOTTA GO!" he hurried inside, looking for them. He ran through the store until he saw lee killing one of those things again. "What the fuck happened?" He yelled. Lee was holding a baseball bat, covered in blood.

"I'll explain later." He was out of breathe. The bathroom door swung open, the girls ran out, along with lee and Shawn. They ran back to the truck, Shawn immediately started the truck and locked all doors. Those things were closer, more of them now.

"Where the fuck is Chet?!" Shawn snapped, realizing his best friend wasn't with them. He couldn't just leave him behind, but they couldn't stay either. He had to choose.

"SHAWN!" Lee Yelled, as he watched those things gather more. Shawn immediately drove off, upset with himself, for leaving behind Chet. They grew up together, have been close like brothers since Elementary school.

"Shawn," Lee started saying. "We WILL comeback for Chet. We have too. We need to let this place cool off, wait until those things are gone. "Lee stated. He felt bad that they had to leave Chet behind as well.

"Yeah, we sure will. I wish we could at night, but ever since, what ever "this" is has happened, I have noticed more come out at night. I don't know why." Shawn sounded disappointed in himself. He looked hurt and full of guilt. They drove straight to Shawn's home, the farmhouse up the road.

Half the time on the way there was quiet; Day turned into night, it was still quiet, Until Shawn spoke, breaking the silence, but decided to stay quiet. He parks the truck at the farm.

Everyone gets out of the truck. The front door, opens.

"Thank God you're home!" A man, comes out, hugging Shawn. "Been quiet as usual the past couple days. Ol' Breckon down the way thinks his mare's gone lame but that ain't nothing new. "

"I was starting to think we weren't going to make it.'' Shawn said.

"Your boy is a life saver." Lee mentioned.

Hershel smiled, "I'm glad he could be of help to somebody" He noticed the girls. "So, its just you and your daughters?" He asked.

"Oh, not his daughters, he's... well... Just some guy who found them alone." Shawn mentioned to his dad. Hershel looked at lee, them then the girls. He bent down on a knee to their level.

"Do you girls know this man?" He asked them both. They both shook their heads and said yes. He chuckled a little and did not think much else about it. He rose back to his feet.

"Well that's a good enough answer for me." Hershel looked around. "Shawn, where's Chet?" Hershel asked. It got real quiet. How could he tell his father? Chet was line a son to him after all.

"Did those "things" get to him..?"

"we.. We were at a gas station, looking for food. The kids were hungry and Lee wanted to make sure they had food and something to drink.. We all went inside… Chet, I think he left on his own. He never came back to the truck. We never saw a body." He said. His father seemed shocked and hurt, maybe he left on his own? Maybe he got bit and ran away? Maybe something else happened to him?

"Hmm. I see, well I hope Chet is alright and safe. He's a good kid, always has been…" He hugged Shawn again, then noticed Lee's leg." Well, looks like you hurt your leg pretty bad there."

"Yeah, its not doing do good" Lee chuckled.

"I see.. Shawn, run on inside, check on your sister, she's been missing you. And you, lee, go have a seat on the porch, ill get my first aid kit."

Lee thanked him and nodded. Shawn and Hershel enter the house, Lee takes a seat on the bench on the porch, and the girls stands near the top of the stairs. Hershel returns shortly, holding a roll of bandages. He kneels down and inspects Lee's leg.

Hershel "Alright, lets have a look." The cut was really deep, it was definitely infected. "Oh yeah, its swollen to hell."

"It hurts like hell." Hershel cleaned it off really good and wrapped the bandage around it as he winced in pain.

"What was your name again?"

"I'm Lee."

"Well its nice to meet you Lee, I'm Hershel Greene."

"Thank you, and for helping us."

"My pleasure. . How did this happen? Your leg?"

" I was in a car accident, I was with a police officer. He was giving me a ride and ended up hitting one of those things. I stumbled upon the girls while looking for help,."

"Ha, I see." Hershel stood up after finishing up with lee's leg. "Well, my house is full. We have people staying outside the house as well, In tents and an RV, the barn is getting full. We might have a place for you and the girls in the barn. It's all we have."

"That'll be very appreciated. Thank you"

Hershel started walking off. "Of course."

Hershel waited for Shawn to come back out.

"There you are."

"Dad, we need to fortify the fences. They aren't strong enough for those things." Shawn said. "We-

"Okay. Okay. You've been on this the past couple of days Shawn. Rest tonight and fix them in the Morning. It's getting pretty late."

Shawn didn't say nothing else. "I'll grab some covers and pillows for you and the kids." Shawn ran back inside. Three pillows and two blankets.

"Thanks." Lee took them. He followed Shawn to the barn with the girls.

"It's no problem. We have a family of three in here as well who needed help. They might be asleep. If you need anything let us know." Shawn opened the barn door, closed it after lee nodded.

The girls and Lee laid a blanket down on the ground, then the pillows and laid onto of that blanket, covering up with the second one. It was getting dark already and the girls were passed out as soon as they covered up. Lee was still awake, thinking about the past couple of days and what has been going on.

First, his career as a university professor is over. Second, his wife, Hayleigh cheated on him. Was having an affair with a state senator. Who knows for how long? Could have been days? Maybe even for a couple of months.

"Lee?'' Sierra spoke.

"I thought you were asleep?"

"I can't stop thinking about my mom and dad… what if they're in trouble…?"

"We… we will find them. It might take a while, but we will Sierra."

"Promise?"

"I promise, now get some sleep. Tomorrows a new day.." Lee said softly, they both drifted off to sleep.
