Ever the light sleeper, Lucina stirred in the early morning hours of the Shepherd's camp at the sounds of the patrols making there way though the area, her eyes easily adjusting to the darkness of the interior of the tent.

Not her tent - at least a few times a week, she'd been slipping away to Robin's tent to spend the night with him.

It had been a few months since they'd first admitted their love for one another in a field of blooming flowers under the clear summer sky. And though they'd kissed and spent time talking as lovers, the sun setting low behind the mountains had eventually forced them to take the trail back to camp. Coming up to the top of the hill and looking over the clearing where the convoy had set up camp, Robin let go of her hand and asked, "So, should we find Chrom and Sumia?"

Lucina frowned slightly. "I... don't think so." She said at length. "Don't misunderstand, I'm happy to be with you, but I fear what Mother and Father might say. I've noticed how difficult it is for them to not treat me like the toddler back in Ylisse. If they find out I've taken a lover, I fear Father might try to use his position to separate us." She crossed her arms over her chest and cleared her throat. "Though, perhaps that is a worst case scenario. Perhaps they'll be more supportive than I'm thinking." She added quietly. "Although, it may be best to wait until we've defeated Walhart. Unless you want to tell them?"

There was uncertainty on her face, plain as day, and he knew what she wanted to hear. "Well, I don't mind waiting." He agreed with a nod, taking her hand gently.

He was more than familiar with how Chrom and Sumia, the latter especially, had a terrible habit of treating their time travelling daughter like she was still a newborn. It had come to a head during dinner one evening - sitting at one of the tables amongst the army, Sumia had lifted a spoon to Lucina and said, "Say aaaah!", only for Lucina to reach up and grab her wrist, pushing it away (gently, but with no small amount of agitation) and glaring at her mother while reminding her though gritted teeth, "I'm more than capable of feeding myself, Mother." Sumia had looked shocked and embarrassed, and Lucina herself didn't touch her plate for the rest of the evening. Chrom had taken his daughters side, but he'd made more than a couple of condescending comments without realizing it.

Robin knew she loved her parents, but he also knew Lucina wanted them to recognize her as more than just a child. "If I'd survived the apocalypse, I certainly wouldn't want to be treated like an infant." He let out a short laugh, drawing Lucina's attention back to him. "Of course, we'll have to go out of our way finding ways to spend time together until there's a more appropriate time to let everyone know we're together."

"Well, I suppose it's a good thing you're a master strategist, isn't it?" She leaned in for a short kiss before pulling back, a small smile on her face.

Spending time together hadn't been too difficult, as it turned out - their stations very frequently put them together as leaders in the army, and Lucina herself was known for volunteering for extra work and Robin was never one to quit until his work was done or somebody pulled him away from it.

So if Lucina just so happened to be the one to go and find him and just so happened to walk with him to his tent and she just so happened to walk inside to finish their conversation - purely out of courtesy, of course - then it meant that they had an opportunity to be alone with each other, and do more as lovers than eat meals together or go into town to check out the marketplace.

Slowly, Lucina sat up, pulling the covers off of herself and placing them gently back on Robin. It wasn't dawn yet - so she had a little bit of time to return to her own tent, but even still she found it hard to stand up and leave Robin behind. She looked back over her shoulder, and reached down to run her fingers through his hair. After a moment, she pulled back and closed her eyes.

"Leaving already?"

Robin was looking up at her through a half cracked open eye.

"Sorry, love." She gave him an apologetic smile and sighed. "I have to get back. If I'm not there and someone comes looking for me..." She let the conclusion hang in the air between them. At the very least, a search party would be organized, and if anyone saw her leaving Robin's tent, the rumours would likely damage his reputation, and if they got back to Chrom there's no telling how he'd react.

Slowly, Robin pushed himself up, letting the covers fall of him. Lucina leaned back, drawing her legs underneath her and resting against him, letting out an appreciative hum as he wrapped his arms around her. He ran small circles up and down her back, gently letting his fingers brush against the small scars she'd sustained after a lifetime of fighting. Lucina let her eyes close, and she pressed drowsy kisses against his neck. "Would it really be bad?" He asked quietly. "Surely, we've weathered worse than Chrom being upset at us for a tryst."

Lucina let out a mirthless laugh. It was a mutual agreement between them to stay quiet about their relationship, but ever since then it felt like the more romantic gestures between the Shepherd's coupled warriors had become more and more obvious, while she and Robin still had to keep their relationship hidden. "We certainly have. But I don't want people to look wrongly upon you for dating... 'Chrom's kid'." She rolled her eyes; she often heard the Shepherd's of her father's generation refer to her as such often with phrases like, "Poor dear deserved a better future!" and "I hope she gets along with Chrom's other Lucina back home."

It was annoying for her parents to infantilize her without realizing it, but hearing how the others talked about her when they thought she or the other time travelers weren't around was downright insulting. A part of her knew she couldn't blame them; she could only imagine how upsetting it must be to have their children running through time seeking help for a foe they couldn't defeat on their own. But a much bigger part of her expected her parent's generation to take the threat - and her - more seriously. They often acted like it was a simple matter of going into the mountains to apprehend a handful of bandits, much to her chagrin.

"You're only a year younger than he is. Whether he likes it or not, you're allowed to make your own decisions. I'm not so fragile that rumours would be the end of me. And I'd like to think I've got enough goodwill amongst the Shepherd's that a secret relationship with you would not be enough to destroy my reputation." He smiled at her. "Bad jokes for a while? Sure. But that would be the worst of it - and I'd go through more if I didn't have to make arrangements whenever I wanted to spend time with you."

Lucina twisted, shifting to bring one leg over and straddle his waist. His words stirred a warmth in her chest that reminded her of why she'd initially sought him out - he took her and her words more seriously than anyone else in the camp. "Perhaps... Perhaps I could discuss the topic with him. If the conversation goes well, then we can reveal to him and Mother that we're together."

"Well, in case it doesn't..." He brought one hand to her waist and guided her beneath him and leaned down to kiss her. "You don't have to go just yet, do you?"

Pulling him in close, Lucina shook her head. "Not yet."

A couple of days later, several of the Shepherds were lead by Chrom to a nearby ruin after the village they'd stopped in to resupply at had informed them of a great artifact held there.

What they'd failed to mention was the sudden appearance of Risen at the ruins.

Most of the main force was still in the main village a few hours away, but on the bright side the number of Risen on the surface did not appear to be overwhelming. And truthfully, they didn't need to quell the Risen themselves; they were here for the treasure, and the village could mount a proper defense once they were alerted.

"Sully, Stahl, Sumia, Cherche! Cover our flanks and ensure no Risen get outside the ruins!" Robin yelled orders to the group who'd organized themselves outside the ruins. "Tharja, Virion, I want you in the back providing ranged support! Kellam, where - Gah! Don't do that! Kellam, Frederick, Vaike, cover them as we move forward. Donnel, Vaike, Gaius, you're with me and Chrom. Our goal is to find the relic known as Naga's Tear! Move out!"

Robin and Chrom moved through the ruins together, the sounds of battle echoing off the pillars all around them.

"Milord!"

Chrom spun around as he heard Frederick call out to him. "I require more assistance!"

He and Robin both saw that Tharja and Frederick were attempting to hold off four Risen on their own, but the Entombed were closing in despite Tharja's magic keeping them away from Frederick.

"Hah! Hyah!"

Robin's head turned at the sound of combat coming from further in. "Go to them. I'll assist whoever's up ahead!"

Chrom nodded once, trusting his ally to return and joining the others.

"Hi-yah! Boo yah! Two on one and I still beat you!"

Robin blinked as he ran up to the other person. A girl, about his age or a little younger, with an exact set of his Plegian coat and striking royal blue hair. "What in the world?" She turned to him and smiled.

"Oh! There you are Father. I was beginning to think we'd gotten separated." She smiled and held her tome close to her chest, and Robin's eyes widened to the size of plates when he saw the Brand of the Exalt on her left hand. His mind jumped to the only logical conclusion based on what evidence he had in front of him.

"I'm sorry, what!?" He asked aloud, his voice raised in alarm. "Father? How!?"

The young girl, completely oblivious to his reaction, looked around to survey the ruins. "Well, no harm done. At least we can head home now." She turned back to him and looked him up down, giving a satisfied smile. "Goodness, the air in here agrees with you!" She said as she laughed. "You look a decade younger, at least."

"Wait. Let's go back to the Father thing." He said nervously, trying to calm his mind from the whirlwind of thoughts. "Are you- Did you come from the future?" He asked. "Wait, but that's not possible! Lucina was the last of her generation, and she didn't have any kids! How could she be my daughter and from the future at the same time?"

"Did you seriously just ask if I came from the future?" She asked, looking at him like he was a bug. "...Why are you looking at me like that? Helloooo! It's me! Morgan! ...You're daughter? Love of you life and Daddy's little girl and all that?" At Robin's continued gaping, she strode up and gently grabbed him by the arm. "Wow, you're really acting strange today. Let's go home and get you in bed." She took one step and looked around. "Hmm, but which way is home? Is it - Ngh, m-my head!" She nearly doubled over, clutching Robin's arm tighter and raising her other hand to her head.

Robin instantly leaned forward to help her. "Easy, don't try to force it!" He said gently, placing his hands on her shoulders. She looked up at him, slightly dazed. "Just stay calm and listen to me. I know this sounds mad, but I believe you came here from the future." He said in as gentle yet straightforward tone as he could.

Morgan's eyes looked between his, and she stood up straight, prompting Robin to let go of her. "Are you out of your mind!? That's not even possible!"

"Actually, it is." He said as he looked over the girl - his daughter - and tried to help her understand. "Think about it. You said I looked younger, but look again. Closely." He blinked in surprise as Morgan stepped forward and starting looking him up and down as though he'd fallen from the sky. "Do I look like I'm of an age to have a child as old as you? At this point, in OUR time, you still haven't been born."

She stepped back, gripping her tome tighter. "Y-You do look younger, but..."

"It's hard, I know. And you don't have to believe me right this minute." His head dropped as he thought, "I still can't believe it myself." The sound of combat echoed throughout the ruins, and he lifted his head again. Nothing was going to happen to his daughter, time traveler or not. "But you must come with me. It's dangerous alone, especially if your memory is gone." Morgan hunched her shoulders as she tried to find the source of the noises by looking around. "I was in the same position once, you know. If Chrom hadn't found me lying in that field, who knows what would've happened..." He trailed off as he realized that he would have a lot of explaining to do once he took Morgan back to camp.

The sound of snickering brought his attention back.

"Wait, so you woke up in the middle of a field too? Hah! Like father, like daughter, huh? Oh that's too funny!"

Despite the situation, and his impending demise at Chrom's hands, Robin managed a smile. "Glad to see you've inherited my blithe outlook. Just try to stay close will you?"

"Yes sir!"

As the fighting wound down, and having successfully retrieved Naga's Tear, the Shepherd's reunited in front of the ruins.

Having not had nearly enough time to prepare, Robin turned to Morgan and pulled her hood up. "Hey, what the-"

"Listen kiddo, I've uh... Hmm, how should I put this? You're mother and I haven't exactly told everyone that we're together yet, so-"

"Ah, Robin! I was told you'd found someone in the ruins. Who's this?"

The tactician went straight as a rod as Chrom walked up behind them, and he leaned in to hastily whisper to Morgan, "Just let me do the talking alright? Don't take your hood off until I tell you!" He spun around as Chrom finally approached. "Chrom, buddy! Long time no see! How're things in Ylisse?" He asked awkwardly, trying to stand in front of Morgan.

"Er, fine?" Chrom tried to look closer at the person behind Robin, but he kept side stepping to block Chrom's view. "Robin, who is that?" He put a hand gently on his shoulder to try and get past him, but Robin quickly pushed him away. "What are you doing?"

"You know, I was thinking: Why don't you go on ahead and get back to camp? Surely the army misses it's leader!" He was panicking, that was clear, and Morgan snorted behind him.

"That's the best you can come up with? You're a better tactician than that, Father."

Chrom's brow raised as he heard the title given to his friend, and slowly a big grin appeared on his face, especially when he saw what Morgan was wearing. Having been informed by Lucina she hadn't traveled alone into the past, he'd quickly gotten used to meeting the future children of the Shepherds. "Oh ho! Robin, you've finally found someone to settle down with? Who's the lucky girl?"

"Yeah, who is she?" Came the innocent question from behind him.

Robin spun on his heel. "You don't know!?"

Morgan shrugged. "I told you, I don't remember anything. I only remember you. Well, bits and pieces at least. I remember I want to be a tactician like you! But I don't remember anything else, including Mother..." She frowned, and her shoulders fell. "How could I forget something so important?"

"Well, I'm sure Robin will fill us all in when we get back to camp." Chrom reassured her as he stepped forward. "Are you injured? Why is your hood up?"

Despite Robin waving his hands in protest from slightly behind Chrom, Morgan shook her head and pulled the hood back. Chrom blinked as he took in her messy blue hair, the way her blue eyes shone in the afternoon sunlight, and the Brand on her hand. "I'm not injured." She said.

For several seconds Chrom said nothing.

Then, he turned on Robin and grabbed him by his collar so quickly that he couldn't react.

"Something you want to tell me!?" He yelled.

"Hey, stop!" Morgan tried to pull his hands away to no avail.

"Chrom, please! I can explain!"

"I think I know what's going, Robin!"

Frederick and the others, who'd been standing nearby, ran forward at the sudden commotion.

"Milord, please!"

"Unhand him or I'll hex you!"

"Dear, what are you doing?!"

With everyone's help, Chrom was pulled off Robin. "Let go of me!" He snarled as he was pulled away, with a few of the Shepherds standing between them.

"What has gotten into you!?" Stahl asked.

"Why don't you let him explain?" Chrom asked, standing up straight with his fists clenched at his sides.

All eyes turned on Robin... then on Morgan, who was standing beside him, nervously shuffling from one foot to the other. He could see them putting the puzzle pieces together, so he cleared his throat and said, "Well, I know this might not be the best time, but: Lucina and I have become a couple. We've been together for a few months now. We were waiting to stop Walhart to announce this, but now that my daughter has come from the future, it's as good a time as any." He placed one arm around his daughters shoulders and said, "Go ahead and introduce yourself."

"U-uh... Hi." She gave a small strained smile and a wave.

"He... with our Lucina...? I'll kill him!"

There was another round of shouting as Sumia readied her spear while the others tried to stop her.

"Who's Lucina? My mother?" Morgan asked. When she got a nod back she added, "What's so bad about her being my mother that everyone would react this way? And hey, why did you keep your relationship with her a secret!? I may not remember much, but you were a happy man in the future, so there's no reason for you to have-"

"Morgan." He cut her off. "When we get back to camp, I'll introduce you to Lucina. Reintroduce? Well, whatever. Listen, she's uh... Going to be surprised to see you. I'll explain everything later, but for now... Well, suffice to say, none of us were expecting you, so don't feel too bad if people give you strange looks." At his daughter's despondent look, he quickly added, "But don't worry! I'm sure everyone will like you! It might just take some getting used to..." He tried to muster up some cheer, but Morgan still looked uncertain. "Gods, that could have gone better. I'm not used to be thrown off like this."

The journey back to the rest of the army was mostly quiet. Robin explained to Morgan that Lucina had returned from the future to stop the world from ending, and that she was Chrom's daughter.

"So grandfather is mad because you entered into a tryst with his daughter..." Morgan put the pieces together quickly. She was silent for a moment before her usual cheerful smile returned - despite the shock of her appearance, it was still uplifting to Robin. "Well, now that he knows, the worst is over with, right?" She asked.

"Probably not." He motioned to the others in front of them. "We'll have to tell the rest of the army, now. And... Well, despite being a grown woman, Chrom and Sumia and the rest of the Shepherds still treat Lucina and her friends from the future like children. It's... patronizing." He finished quietly.

"You're not going to treat me like a child, are you?" Came Morgan's defiant yet playful quip.

Robin smiled at her. "I'll try not to. But you are my kid, and with your amnesia you're gonna need help. But no, I won't make a habit of it. After listening to your mother's complaints about it, I'd be one pretty big hypocrite if I started myself."

"Hmph." Morgan nodded in satisfaction, and her smile slowly left her face. "What's she like?"

"Lucina's a very serious person. I told you already, she lost her family when she was young, her kingdom when she was barely a teen, and her entire world just a few short years ago. She's the leader of the last remnants of humanity, and her duty weighs heavily on her, even though she's in the past and can enjoy peace more than she could before." Despite his words, he was smiling as he looked ahead. "But she's also very kind, and incredibly selfless. She always puts others first, and is willing to help whenever she can, often neglecting her own needs in the process. And though she doesn't show it often, she does have a softer side, one that drives me to fight for a better future all the harder so she doesn't always have to be the strong leader she was forced to be."

Morgan exhaled slowly. "Wow... You really care for her!"

"Of course I do!" Robin said with a slight chuckle. "I would never have entered into a relationship with her if I didn't."

"Well, I may not remember her, but I'm excited to meet her!"

Arriving at the camp, Chrom, Sumia, Robin, and Morgan quickly made for the command tent. Despite walking through camp, few people seemed to notice Morgan's presence, which helped put Robin's mind at ease.

"Sumia? Would you go and get Lucina?" Chrom asked, crossing his arms and staring at Robin with a neutral look.

She looked between the two, and then gently grabbed Morgan by the upper arm. "Come along dear." As they walked away, Robin heard her say, "They'll break the news to Lucina first, and then you can introduce yourself. She might be in for a bit of a shock."

Turning his attention back to Chrom, he sighed, waiting for the other man to speak first.

After several moments, Chrom asked quietly. "How long have you and Lucina been keeping this from me?"

"A few months."

Chrom seemed to mull this over before asking, "Why didn't you tell me? Either of you?"

Knowing he needed to choose his next words carefully, Robin started slowly. "Because... Neither of us knew how things would work out - with the war, or stopping Grima, so we didn't want to tell everyone until we knew where things stood. And also..." Robin swallowed, then continued, "You may not be the type of man to abuse your station, but you... Hmm, how should I say this... You over parent Lucina sometimes."

Chrom rolled his eyes. "I'm her father."

"No, Chrom, her father's dead." He reminded him. "Passed away in another timeline. Your daughter is back in Ylisse. The Lucina with us isn't yours. Maybe you haven't realized it yet, but Lucina doesn't need you and Sumia perched on her shoulder. She's a grown woman, she can make her own decisions."

"I-"

The tent flap opened, and Sumia and Lucina walked in.

"Father? Robin? What's going on? Mother said we needed to... talk." She looked between Chrom's angered expression and Robin's guilty one, and apprehension took root in her gut.

"Is there something you'd like to tell us, Lucina?" Chrom asked as Sumia came to stood by his side.

The princess frowned; something in his tone immediately pushed that apprehension down and replaced it with a dull anger. "Is there something the matter, Father?"

Chrom grit his teeth. "You've been keeping secrets from me and your mother."

Lucina stepped forward, stopping a few feet shy of her father and placing on hand her hip. "I'm certain you don't tell me everything that goes on in your life. Am I not entitled to privacy?"

"There are some parts of life your parents should be made aware of." He glanced at Robin. "Like if you've taken a lover, for instance."

Trying to keep a handle on the dull anger to stop it from flaring up, Lucina took a deep breath. "I'm not going to apologize for keeping my relationship with Robin a secret, Father. But if I feel the need to tell you something, I will."

"Why keep it a secret at all?" Sumia asked, her tone less demanding and more pleading.

"Did it ever occur to either of you that I'm more than capable of choosing who I wish to spend my time with? I don't need your permission to pursue a relationship with anyone."

Chrom shook his head. "Young lady, you-"

"Do NOT 'young lady' ME!" Lucina shouted, making her parents jump in surprise. "Have you forgotten who you're talking to!?" She rose to her full height, head tilted up and her left hand clenched tightly around Falchion. "Make no mistake, Father, Mother-" She looked between the two, her expression softening slightly at the look of shock they held, "I am happy to be reunited with you, and to be able to spend time with you after thinking it impossible for so many years. But I'm only one year younger than the both of you. I was the Exalt of my time, and I have faced more hardship in the past five years than you ever have! I led the forces of Regna Ferox and Ylisse to victory against the Conqueror! I held back the forces of the Fell Dragon for near a decade!"

Chrom opened his mouth, but Lucina spoke again before he could say anything.

"And I know that you're new parents and have been looking after the baby Lucina in Ylisse before we began this long march, but I am not her! Perhaps neither of you realize that you do it, but far too often you have treated me like that child instead of the adult that I am. Or did you intend to pamper the baby so much that everytime she stubs her toe she requires a group of nurses to tend to her, leaving her infantilized into adulthood and incapable of doing anything on her own?"

A heavy silence settled as Lucina's jaw set and she glanced between her parents.

Robin didn't say anything as he kept his gaze on Lucina.

Finally, Sumia spoke up first. "I... I didn't realize that you felt that way." Her voice was quiet, and she stepped forward with her hands clasped in front of her. "But, we never meant to treat you that way. We just wanted you to be happy in this world, after everything that happened in yours... You can't imagine how much we feel like we've failed you, now that you've come back to us..."

Lucina sighed. "I know, Mother. But you can't protect me forever, as much as you may wish it could be done. My own time is proof of that..." She stepped back and stopped beside Robin, taking his hand and intertwining their fingers. "However, I can make important decisions on my own. Including whom I wish to share my heart with."

Robin smiled at her, and then turned back to the other two and cleared his throat. "Well, let's do this properly. Chrom, Sumia - Lucina and I are together."

Sumia smiled at them, clapping her hands together. "Oooh, you two do look happy together!" She pulled Lucina into a hug. "Congratulations, dear!"

Chrom sighed. "There was a reason I wished for your mother and myself to be kept in the know of these things." When Sumia pulled back and Lucina raised a brow, he continued. "There's no easy way to put this, but - what if you had ended up with a child?"

"I've already seen to that, Father. The clerics have provided me with contraceptive herbs that I take daily. I know more than to take on more than I can handle, and now is certainly not the time to be trying for children." Lucina looked around at the other three staring at her. "What?"

"Perhaps you should sit down..." Sumia grabbed a stool, and Robin gently nudged her down to it.

"What? I know I'm not carrying a child." Lucina protested.

"Right, see... The thing is..." Robin coughed into his hand. "Well, you remember how you came from the future? Before Chrom was expecting you?"

"Yes..."

Robin tilted his head and mustered up a smile. It was nervous, and his tone of voice was worrying Lucina. "The same thing might have happened again. To us."

It took a moment for Lucina to understand what he was saying, but when she did, she shook her head. "No, Robin that's not possible. I don't have any children; there's no way any offspring of mine has come back to us. How could they? I was not married to you in my future, nor did I harbor relations with anyone else."

"It's true, Lucina." Chrom stepped forward and knelt in front of her. "We picked up a young girl from the ruins. She's got blue hair, the brand of the Exalt, and called Robin 'Father'. There's only one possible explanation."

Lucina looked stunned. She didn't say anything for so long that eventually Sumia broke the silence.

"We just wanted to get everything in order dear, before we introduced you to her." She gave her daughter one last hug and then said, "I'll go and grab her."

Lucina stood up and Robin said to her, "Her name's Morgan. She's a few years younger than us."

"Robin... If she's come from the future, does that mean we've failed? That I've failed to save the world, again?" She asked, her voice thick. "Why else would she come back?" She rubbed her hands together nervously, looking back at the entrance to the tent before looking at Robin.

He frowned. "I hadn't thought of that... It's... Possible." He agreed reluctantly. "But, believe it or not, she actually can't remember anything about her time. She seems to only be able to remember me." He laughed, trying to deflate some of the tension. "Or maybe it's possible that when you and your friends traveled through time, she was accidentally pulled along for the ride?" He guessed, trying to cheer up his lover. "Either way, I don't think we need to worry her right now with grim possibilities. She's happy and easygoing, and I think she'll get along great with everyone here, once she's settled in."

"No memory..."

Lucina couldn't explain why this filled her with a deep sadness, but she didn't have time to ponder it. The tent flap opened behind them.

"Hi! I'm Morgan. You must be Lucina."

The amnesiac stamped down her nervousness by walking right up to her mother and offering her hand.

The future-past Exalt turned to see her daughter for the first time. It was true what they said; Morgan looked younger than she did, and her blue hair was an exact match for hers and Chrom's. Morgan stuck a hand out, and Lucina reached forward. "Morgan..." She breathed out in disbelief, feeling like she was in a dream. "It's a very nice name." She admitted quietly.

"I uh, guess you're my mom?" Morgan smiled nervously, looking at Robin.

The moment their hands touched, she knew it was true. A connection formed between them, one that set Morgan at ease and assuaged any trepidation Lucina had. "You're my daughter." Lucina reached down and lifted the other hand, tracing the Brand of the Exalt when she saw it. "I'm your mom." She dropped Morgan's hands and pulled the younger girl into a hug. "I can't believe it!" She said with a laugh, tears budding in her eyes.

"Awww, Mother! You're embarrassing me!" Despite her protests, Morgan clung to her just as tightly, sniffling as well.

Everyone smiled at the sight, and Robin came forward to wrap his arms around both of them.

Deciding that introducing Morgan to everyone could wait till later, Robin took his daughter and they went to gather a tent and supplies for her.

"Lucina."

The princess turned to her father as he stopped beside her.

"Let's go for a walk, shall we?"

They took a path that lead away from the main camp, and in just a few minutes they'd reached a the side of a small creek. The moon was full above them, providing plenty of light as they came to a stop.

Chrom cleared his throat. "How are you feeling?"

His daughter let out a short laugh. "Well, I'm certainly surprised." She turned to her father, arms crossed in front of her. "I wasn't expecting my own child to appear." For a moment, her expression darkened. "I can't help but wonder if what I said earlier was true; that her own future took a turn for the worst and so she's come here seeking refuge. But I hope Robin is right - perhaps moving through time had unforeseen consequences and my daughter appearing is not an ill omen." Her expression lightened as she looked up at the starry night sky. "But... I'm excited, too. I wanted to change the future for the better, and Morgan is proof that things can get better."

"And you're happy with him?"

Lucina nodded. "Yes, I am. He's a good man, Father, I know you know that." She hesitated for a moment, "I just... Wanted to have control over something in my life." She sighed, and turned away. "For too long, I've had a duty to my nation, and then the world, and now I am trying to save two timelines, and it felt like all I could do was react to situations out of my control. In the blighted world I came from, romance was never on my mind. But now that I'm here, and I have others to help me shoulder the burden, I've had more time to think, to ponder a future freed from darkness, and... I knew who I wanted to be with."

When a hand gently came to rest on her shoulder, she turned back around. "Then I'm happy for you." Chrom said with a smile. She leaned into to wrap her arms around him, whispering her thanks, and he reciprocated. "And I am sorry for the way I've been treating you. Your mother put it best; we just wanted you to be happy, and to have failed in the future puts a burden on us as parents that pushed us to 'over parent', as Robin said earlier. Gods, after everything Frederick does, I should have realized what I was doing..."

"Now that Morgan's here, I think I have a little more sympathy for your behaviour." Lucina let go and pulled back. "But that doesn't mean I'll start tolerating it."

He laughed, and together they began heading back to the camp.

"Mother didn't seem shocked at all."

Robin turned to his daughter and pulled her close with one arm as they walked.

"I guess we were a worried over nothing." He smiled. Some of the Shepherds took notice as they walked past, and he could already hear hushed murmurs about his daughter. "Oh boy, dinnertime is going to be interesting."

"Did you really think she would be upset at seeing me?" Morgan asked hesitantly.

"Upset? No. No parent would be upset at seeing their kids travel from the future." He reassured her quickly. "But your mother - Ah, well, a lot of people, really - Wouldn't know how to react to meeting their time traveling kid. The concern would be her saying something she didn't mean and souring the air between you two."

"Hmm." Morgan smiled. "I'm glad we got off on the right foot. Even if she nearly broke my back with that hug... I hope my memory comes back. She seems like she was or will be a great mom."

"I'm sure she'll be eager to spend time with you. Hopefully the more you two talk, the more likely it is that your memory will come back. But for now-" He motioned to the wagon in front of them, filled with various supplies. "We'll get you a tent set up next to mine. We'll be on the road for a while yet, so we can figure out where your strengths in combat lie and help train you so you're ready to deal with more than some mindless Risen."

"Yes sir!" She gave a salute and began helping pull supplies out. "I'll earn my keep Father, don't worry about a thing."

Dinner came and went. But the royal family noticed that many eyes were on Morgan, who still hadn't been introduced to many of the Shepherds, and as everyone gathered around the campfire, she fidgeted nervously, resisting the urge to pull her hood up to hide.

"Friends, brothers and sisters in arms, gather round!"

Chrom waited for everyone to form up around him before speaking again.

"We have good news! Those of you who journeyed to the ruins with us earlier know already, but we've picked up a new companion who'll be traveling with us."

As one, everyone looked at Morgan, and she shuffled around.

"And therein lies two announcements. I'll let Robin take over from here." He stepped back, standing behind Morgan and placing his hands on her shoulders reassuringly. "You'll be fine. I may not be ready to be called 'Grandfather' yet, but no one's going to give you a hard time unless they want to deal with me."

Robin cleared his throat and looked around at the Shepherds, but he found his voice when Lucina stood beside him. "I suppose there's no point in beating around the bush: Everyone, Lucina and I have become a couple."

She turned to him and gave a quick kiss on the cheek.

There were stunned looks for a moment, but they quickly gave way to cheers and applause.

Linking fingers with his lover, Robin continued after everyone settled down. "And secondly: the new companion with us is our daughter, Morgan." The two new parents looked over at their daughter, and she came forward to stand in front of them. "She's come from the future, though she's lost her memory, and doesn't remember how or why."

"N-Nice to meet everyone. Um, it's true. Lucina is my mother, even though I only remember bits and pieces of my time with Father. I don't know how or why I got here."

This time, there was a lot more murmuring.

"But-" Cynthia spoke up. "Lucy didn't have kids in the future! This doesn't make sense!"

Many people nodded their heads in agreement.

"We'll likely not have the answers for a while, sister." Lucina replied. "Perhaps a third time exists, now that we've all returned, and this is where Morgan hails from." There were more murmurs, and she spoke again. "But I am thankful for her coming back, safe and sound, regardless of the circumstances. She is proof that our efforts to change the dark fate of our time are working!"

The future children cheered, and were quickly followed by their parents joining in.

"Sure didn't waste any time, did you cousin?" Owain asked, and the cheers quickly gave way to laughter.

Red faced, Lucina continued. "Regardless, we will have an official ceremony soon. Sir Libra, will you-"

"Of course. I was in charge of the ceremonies for you parents. Leave everything to me."

Chrom stepped forward, raising a mug in his hand. "To my daughter, and her newfound love. May it never falter, and may she and Robin be prosperous in the next steps of their lives!"

There were many more cheers, and for the rest of the night, people crowded around the couple of their daughter, asking her questions and making promises to look out for her.

Eventually, the group had slowly dissipated and the Shepherds made their way to their own tents.

"So, what do you think kiddo?" Robin asked as he and Lucina walked on either side of her.

"Everyone here is awesome!" She cheered.

"I'm glad you think so, dear." Lucina smiled at her. "I'm sure they feel much the same way about you."

"Thanks, Mother! Oh, I can't wait to get to know everybody better! But man-" Morgan let out a loud yawn, and stretched her arms over her head. "I sure am tired. Fighting Risen first thing after waking up and then marching all the way to camp takes a lot out of you."

"Did you help her with her tent? Good. Well, it is late, so go ahead and turn in for the night." Lucina pulled her into a hug. "Goodnight, Morgan. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

Morgan nodded, let go of her and hugged Robin. "Goodnight, you two."

Robin smiled and took Lucina's hand, happy now that he could do it openly. His tent was a little further down the way; there hadn't been enough room to have Morgan set up her tent next to his. "You seem to have adjusted quickly." He noted as he and Lucina stepped inside.

"I have?" She asked. She sat on the edge of his bed, pulling off her armor and setting it aside before leaning back on both hands and looking up at him confused. "I... I don't know. I am excited to spend time with her, of course, and I'll do everything I can to be a good mother for her, but I don't know if I've adjusted. I haven't much experience from my childhood to draw upon. I fear perhaps I may act more like a handmaiden towards her than an actual mother."

Sitting down next to her after disrobing to his shirt and pants, Robin pulled one leg underneath himself. "Well, it's not like there's only 'one way' to be a mother. And Morgan's already a teen, at least, so you won't have parent her so much." Lucina nodded, frowning, and he asked, "What's wrong?"

"Oh, nothing. It's just that - I wonder what I was like in her future? I said earlier I had no plans to bear a child right now, and I meant it, so... I wonder when I changed my mind? And... I can't help but wonder what kind of joys I experience raising her from birth in the future." She lamented, smiling sadly. "Now, I think once the war ends and the Fell Dragon is stopped, time will pass too quickly for us to really be parents to her."

"Well, to her, maybe."

"Robin? Wha- Mmph! Oh! Hahaha!" She was taken by surprise when he reached across and pulled her into a kiss.

"But at some point, peace will be won, and then we'll have to find new ways to occupy our time, won't we?" He asked as she leaned into him for another kiss.

"Hmm... Yes, that's true." She pulled back and rested her head on his chest, and they shifted so they could lay down more comfortable with one another. "But it's still a ways away."

"I know. But now that Morgan's here, I'm more driven than ever to win this war."

Lucina smiled, and after a moments thought she propped herself up on elbow. "You know, there is one blessing to Morgan's unexpected appearance that we didn't account for..."

Robin tilted his head, and her smile only got wider.

"Now, we can finally spend the entire night together and there'll be no more separating in the early morning hours..."

Reaching over to extinguish the lantern and feeling Lucina's hands run up and down his chest, he had to agree with her.

A/N

Lately I've been feeling the Robcina itch, so I've been drafting some story ideas. It is kind of hard to write for this pairing - Awakening is decently paced game, and so you have to write around the main story... but the main story is also really good, so it's not easy to write around it. And because Robcina has a definitive love story in it's supports, it's also kind of hard to write a new "support" set for them, if you get my meaning. For me at least, making a story for these two is difficult. Awakening is honestly the complete package.

This originally started as a "Lucina meets Morgan" fic, because I haven't seen too many of those around, but it's since spiraled into something more.

I was re-reading Lucina's supports and was struck by just how troubled she is as a person. She speaks about her nightmares to Male Morgan, is often found brooding over the future and the costs of war in her supports with Yarne and Inigo, and her supports with Robin, Brady, and Laurent all showcase that she overworks herself and doesn't want others to know about it.

But when you stop on an event tile and she's paired with her daughter, Lucina asks, "Do you want anything, Morgan? I wish to spoil my daughter silly." Putting on full display just how much she cares about her future child.

The married hot springs scramble support, where she tells Robin not to let her father see them kiss, implies that they're hiding their relationship. It led me down a "Lucina gets patronized" line of thought, that in all honestly is probably OOC for Chrom at least, maybe not Sumia, but either way (in canon or fanon) she doesn't deserve to get treated like that, and I know none of us like to get treated as a kid.

Let me know how I did! I'm thinking of making some Marth-cina x Robin content, purely because the idea is funny to me and Marth-cina is grounds for some great fanfic content (see also: Another Again, by Yosei Ranbu).

See you in the next one!
