"A white bird has been put in a cage. I need you to retrieve it for me," Vermouth requests.

"A white bird?" Bourbon raises an eyebrow at the request.

"Yes. I'd rather this little bird be alive too."

'A rescue mission? How unusual...'

He's given the info on the organization in question, and a blueprint of their headquarters.

"Is this for the Organization?"

"No... Think of it as my...personal request," Vermouth waves her hand, "I'll owe you a favor."

Bourbon smiles, "OK."

After getting the data he needed and doing his own research, Bourbon infiltrates the building, looking for evidence of their crimes and the "little white bird" Vermouth was talking about. He was sure she was talking about KID. And this whole organization has been trying to kill KID for a long while now.

He's managed to sneak in without detection, so when he finally checks a certain room, he finds...

'KID?' Bourbon blinks as he's found a boy locked in a dog cage with no food or water, seemingly asleep.

He picks the lock on the cage, opening it. This wakes the boy, KID, up.

Looking at him with startled eyes, he climbs out of the cage slowly before hugging Bourbon, trembling and whimpering in relief. Just glad that someone came for him.

"...it's OK. I'll get you out of here..." Bourbon softly promises as he picks up KID and carries him away.

KID hides his face in Bourbon's chest as they move quickly and quietly outside and into a car.

Bourbon puts KID into the back seat, letting the boy rest before getting into the driver's seat and driving off.

Now that he's gotten a good look at KID... he recognizes him as the high schooler on the news that went missing, Kuroba Kaito.

Sighing, he contacts Vermouth, "I got the white bird out of its cage."

"...thank you. I'll leave his recovery to you."

'She hung up...' Bourbon, no Furuya sighs.

He puts Kuroba in a safehouse, cooking him a light meal, and providing a case of water bottles for him.

As he waits for Kuroba to wake up, Furuya makes a phone call.

"Kazami... I need you to look into Kuroba Kaito for me."

"You mean the boy that's been missing for a week?"

"I found him."

"Hah? You did?!" he's both surprised and excited.

"Yes... but it's only a matter of time before he'll be hunted again. I've sent you the materials."

"Hai. ..." Kazami's eyes widened, "This is-"

"Yeah," Furuya wryly smiles, "A whole organization's hunting him, so he'll need to lay low for a while."

"Hai. I understand."

"Thank you, Kazami."

The smell of food woke Kaito up, so he gets up, yawning.

"You're awake?"

Kaito startles but then remembers that Bourbon came and rescued him for some reason. At the time, he was sleep deprived, and too hungry and dehydrated to think straight. He was just so happy someone came to get him that he didn't care who it was.

"Hungry?"

Kaito's stomach answered for him.

After eating the meal Bourbon prepared plus two bottles of water and a slice of chocolate cake, Kaito sighs, satifised.

"...not that I don't appreciate it but...why did you rescue me?"

"Because it's my job, KID-kun, no Kuroba Kaito-kun," he smiles.

Kaito sighs, "So you know then? About them?"

"Yeah. You're going to have to lay low for a while until Public Security destroys them."

"...alright. Can I help? My hacking skills are no match for the cyber crime department, after all," Kaito smiles as he expected that as soon as he knew he was in this man's hands.

"Sure," Furuya smiles. Having KID's hacking skills would help.

"What should I call you?" Kaito muses, "Bourbon, Amuro, or Furuya?"

"Call me Furuya," he sighs.

"Furuya-san... can I have more chocolate?" Kaito asks, sparkles in his eyes.

"...fine. Fine. But only if you promise not to escape," Furuya shakes his head at the teen's ridiculous demand.

"Deal!" Kaito smiles, cheering for more dessert.

Furuya huffs, amused by Kaito's childlike nature when it comes to sweets as he gets one more slice of chocolate cake.
