Kong's New Island Ch. 05

Tomorrow is opening day and Lily wants everything to be perfect. The Inn looks better than ever, and she does not want all the hard work everyone put in to go to waste.

"Kong!" Lily calls out, "Do you know where the reservation list is?" while standing at the front desk.

Kong wearing his orang flower shirt walks in through the door leading to the back room, "Last I seen it, it was in the top drawer," he sees Lily looking frantically through the desk, in her usual flower print skirt and green top.

"Well, it's not there!" Lily lets out an aggravated huff.

"Calm down, Lily," the former ape walks up to her. "If you fall apart, so will the Inn."

Lily closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. "Thanks, Kong."

The Kaiju looks at her worriedly, "It's strange seeing you like this after knowing you for over a month."

"I know," she regretfully smiles at him. "I just don't want to fail my uncle's last wish," she grabs a chair at the desk to sit down. "It's a lot to ask for one girl to do."

Kong sits next to her, "Your uncle might have asked you to do this, but he did not ask you to do it alone," and reassures her. "You have friends after all."

"Not to mention the people who decided to take jobs here after fixing everything," Lily smiles back at the ape. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it."

"Hey guys!" Goro walks in wearing a suit with his hair combed down. "Do you think I should wear a tie tonight?" and shows the two a red tie.

"Another date with Allie tonight?" Lily asks already up and walking towards him, immediately forgetting her previous problem.

Goro gives his boss a nod.

"Let me see," she takes the tie from him, pretends to examine it for a moment, and then throws it in the trash next to the desk.

Goro seems confused about this action.

Lily then moves her hands through his hair to make it back into a mohawk. "There you go."

"What about the tie?"

"Forget the tie," the woman places her hands on the former dinosaur's shoulders. "The girl doesn't like you for the tie. She likes you for you."

"But she's introducing me to her parents before the movie."

Kong butts, "I don't see what the big deal is? So, you're meeting new people."

"I don't know why it's a big deal," Goro admits. "All I know is that since she asked me to meet her parents I've been shaking and sweating. It's probably a human thing."

Lily raises her hand, "Hello! Human right here to answer your questions," and points to herself. "When a girl asks you to meet her parents, it usually means that she wants you closer to her life. To become her ohana," then she looks back at Goro. "If Allie likes you for who you are, then so should her parents. The best thing for you to do is be yourself."

"Be myself" Goro takes a deep breath. "Okay. I work at the Inn mostly helping with luggage, I am also a performer for the luaus, and I used to be a giant dinosaur."

Kong tells him, "You may want to leave that last part out," while munching on a banana.

"Yeah, be yourself," Lily agrees. "That whole monster thing will either freak them out, or they'll think you're nuts."

"Got it," Goro feels more nervous than ever.

.oOo.

"Hello," Goro says when the door to Allie's house opens showing a man in his mid-forties.

The man is standing nearly two feet above Goro. He has brown hair, a bushy mustache, and brown eyes. He just stands there glaring at the kaiju.

A woman's voice yells at the man. "Richard!" she comes to the door and pushes the man away. "I'm sorry about my husband's attitude. He doesn't trust strangers very well," the woman looks a lot like Allie, except that she is older and has blue eyes instead. "I'm Annabelle and this is Richard."

"H-hello," Goro bows. "I'm Goro."

"I know. Allie has told us a lot about you since you've met."

"Really!" he yells. "I mean, um, what has she told you exactly?"

"Just that you are sweet, amazing, and—"

Allie pushes herself past her parents. "Mom!"

"Allie!" Goro says once he saw her in that red dress and black jacket, all of his anxiety had vanished.

Allie walks right up to him to give him a peck on the cheek. "I can see that you guys had made the introductions without me."

"Sorry, sweetie," her mother says. "But we just couldn't wait to meet the one boy who manages to cheer you up after the accident."

At that moment Goro notices a familiar sadness return to Allie's eyes for a moment before it fades. "Allie, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," she answers him before grabbing her boyfriend's hand and dragging him off and yells to her parents, "I'll be back after ten!"

"You'll be back by nine, you hear!" Richard yells back.

"Nine-thirty!" Allie responds right before turning the corner.

Richard and his wife went back inside and closed the front door.

"I like him," Annabelle tells her husband.

"Well, I don't." Richard responds.

"And why not?"

"I don't know," he answers honestly. "There is just something I don't trust about that boy."

Annabelle walks up to him and planted a kiss on her husband. "You said the same thing about Johnny."

"Johnny was different," he defends as he walks towards the stairs. "With Johnny, Allie told us everything. But with this Goro, I feel like she's keeping secrets from me."

"What are you going to do?"

"Find those secrets."
