We've seen what Jesse Harris-Chase of the Brave au got up to just by being a smart, pranking junior trouble magnet. We've also had a glimpse into what he and his sister from another reality, Abigail, trainee trouble magnet got up to. But there are other kids in the Protectors au, as well as Abigail herself. So I decided to write an on going series of vignettes, involving the antics of these children. What kind of problems can children growing up in a world of both vampires and aliens get into, especially when the oldest one has abilities that aren't completely known or understood. After all, Abigail wasn't just made from Xander and Cordelia, she was also made from Faith, as well as Xander and Cordelia's wolves. A fact that hasn't been explored. Add in the fact that both parents in the Protectors au have unactivated mystical potential that may or may not have also been passed on to Abigail. And then there's the Key aspect. What does that mean for Abigail? Does that too give her any powers, aside from the fact that her blood could be used to open portals? Let's find out, shall we?

Abigail is six years old and in the first grade at the start of this fic. How old she'll be at the end depends on how long I keep it going. Morgan, Jesse and Sarah's son, is three. Allie, Tor and Heidi's daughter, is two. Abigail is about to become a big sister. Kyle and Rhonda are also having a baby. Both Cordelia and Rhonda are a month away from their due date.
"The school called today. We need to have a talk with Abigail." Cordelia told her husband Xander when he got home from work.
"Oh? What about?" He asked.
"The teacher was doing a presentation on how useful animals can be. You know, eggs, milk, that kind of thing. She asked the kids to name other things animals can be used for. She was looking for answers like being pets or sheep's wool being used to make sweaters, that kind of thing."
Xander felt a shiver of dread go down his spine, he was sure he wasn't going to like the answer to his question but he knew he needed to ask it.
"What did Abigail say?"
"That chickens can be used to make animal sacrifices."
Yep, he was right, he didn't like that answer at all.
"Two kids started crying. A number of angry parents called the school. They're considering bringing in a counselor. Some of the parents actually suggested that she knows that because we sacrifice animals. The principal wants to see us tomorrow to discuss it. How are we going to explain how she knows that something like animal sacrifice even exists, much less convince them that we don't actually practice it ourselves?"
"We blame Daniel. We tell them that we have a friend who is an archeologist. That he was visiting recently, which he was, and that he mentioned a dig and a discovery involving animal sacrifice thousands of years ago. We'll just say, Abigail overheard it."
"So we lie our asses off."
"Basically, it's not like we actually are sacrificing animals. Then we have a talk with Abigail about not talking about anything she might hear at home, because we really don't need her discussing vampires and demons at school. I mean we've already told her not to show off her Protector abilities. Even in Sunnydale, people would notice a super strong little girl. We just make sure, she knows certain topics are off limits. At least at school."
"That might work. And if we have to deal with another virgin sacrificing cult?"
"We may need to start having meetings at Giles' place or at the Magic Box. There really are alot of topics she shouldn't know about."
"You're telling me. Last week she asked if she could take Clem for show and tell. Can you imagine how that would have gone?"
Xander started laughing so hard he had tears running down his face. "Clem would have had a ball. Until one of the kids startled him and his threat display went off. Yeah, Clem's not a pet. He just looks like a Shar Pei."
