Kong's New Island Ch. 06

After the movie, Goro and Allie decided to take a stroll around the town.

Goro starts the small talk, "Your mom seems nice," trying to pass the time.

Allie replies, "Yes, she is."

"And your dad…" Goro starts rubbing the back of his head. He Looks to Allie and sees that she's wearing a grin. "Don't take this the wrong way but he seemed a bit intimidating."

She began laughing. "He had that same effect on Johnny."

"I can see why Johnny found him intimidating. I just don't see why I find him intimidating and I used to be a dinosaur?"

Allie stops laughing and thought for a moment. "I have no idea. Must be a dad thing."

"I guess," he shrugs and after a moment a question came to his mind. "Allie if I may ask, why are you still living with your parents?"

"What do you mean?"

"You see with most creatures; they usually leave the guide of their parents after reaching a certain age. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the age for humans eighteen? For my species it was a week after hatching."

"Oh, that," Allie ponders the thought for a moment. "To be honest? I mostly stay because of my dad."

"Really? Why? The guy looks like he could take care of himself."

"He… worries," was her answer. "I love him greatly and he loves me in return. I fear that it would hurt us both too much if I leave."

They ended that conversation there. After a few more moments he decided to get something off his mind. "Back at your house, when your mother said accident I can only guess that she means…"

"Johnny," she tells him. "Mom was talking about Johnny."

"You still care for him don't you?" Goro did not need her to answer, he could already see it in her eyes.

"My dad works in construction and demolition," she starts. "Back when I was fourteen, the company that he works for decided to put up business here on the Island. They put him in charge of everything here. It was good money and there was no way to say no. I had to say goodbye to all my old friends before we moved. I was lonely the first week."

A smile returns to her face. "And then one day I met this boy who decided to come over to see why I was sad," Allie looks back at Goro. "Kinda like you did when we first met," they lock eyes for a moment. "Anyway. After telling him everything, he said that he knew what I was going through, that everything would be alright, and that all I needed was time to heal," once again her face saddens. "We were together ever since."

Goro just looks at her, noticing the tear falling from her face. The last thing he ever wanted was to make her cry. "I'm so sorry."

"Don't be," she wipes the tear away. "The memories might not have started out good nor ended well, but everything in the middle will be cherished," she looks at him again. "I know that Johnny wouldn't want me to mourn for the rest of my life. He would have wanted to move on and live happily. He would have liked you. Chances are if he was alive you two would have become best friends."

"From what I've heard from you I would have been honored."

Allie smiles hearing this from Goro.

"Well, we're here," Allie tells him looking up at the front door to her house. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow?"

"I don't see why not," he answers before giving her a goodbye kiss.

After Allie went in, Goro looked around to make sure no one else was around. When he was certain that he was not being watched, Goro decides to take a short cut back to the Inn by jumping over the houses and street blocks. However, he could have never taken account for the prying eyes from the top floor of the very same house that Allie had entered.

.oOo.

Allie has just gotten to her room. The girl is eager to tell her diary about the date she just had with Goro. Reaching underneath her bed to grab her prized book, but instead she finds nothing but the tape that held it at the bottom.

"Dear diary, I wanted to tell you about the guy I met recently," a deep voice starts speaking right behind her. "His name is Goro," she knew the words well for they are her own. "He is new to the island and a stranger to our ways," Allie stands up. "Goro has done something for me that I don't think anyone would have done. He even trusted me with the secret that he and his friend weren't always human," she slowly turns, knowing whose voice was stealing her words. "Telling me of what he used to be like. It sounds so terrifying and yet amazing at the same time," she finds herself face to face with her father, who stands there betraying her privacy. "I began imagining it similar to the tale of Beauty and the Beast," her dad looks away from the book in his hands to stare at his daughter. "I think I love him as much, if not more than I had loved Johnny. Love, Allison Barbra Jones," Richard then slams the book shut.

"Daddy? I…" Allie began to explain.

"I was skeptical at first. Thought I might need to send you to a shrink," he tells her. "Until I saw him jumping over a couple houses," the angered man puts the diary on the desk that was right beside the door. "I don't want you to see that thing anymore."

"Goro is not a 'thing'! He is the greatest guy I know," Allie snaps at him. "He's my ohana."

"I don't care!"

"Well, you should! I love him!"

"Yeah, well, as long as you love that thing you are no longer allowed to live under my roof!"

Allie stands there for a moment in shock at what her father just said. "I-in that case," she feels a lump in her throat because what she is about to say will be just as hard for her as it will for him. "Goodbye, daddy," she quickly shoves past him, grabs her diary, runs down the stairs, and out the door.

Just before the door slams her mother's voice was heard saying, "Sweetie, what's wrong?"

It was not long before Richard heard the footsteps of his wife stomping their way up the stairs. "What did you do?" she snaps at him.

"Annabelle. That Goro guy isn't even human!" He was expecting her to understand.

"Dang! You know."

Richard's eyes widen before he shouts, "You knew!?"

"Of course, I knew. I'm her mother?"

"Well, why didn't you tell me!?"

"Because I'm the one who told her not to."

Richard stares at his wife in disbelief.

"I knew how you would react. So, I told her to wait until you were ready."

He could only stand there for a few moments processing what his wife told him. The man wanted to blame his wife for this. However, he knew that Goro was the one person to truly blame. He is going to take care of that thing tomorrow, but first he needs to go to work.

.oOo.

Goro is dozing off at the front desk relaxing. Lily had told him to go over the reservation list again to make sure there were no mistakes. He saw no harm in taking a nap. Then, he hears knocking at the door.

Looking up and through the door he sees Allie standing there with tears pouring down her face. He quickly grabbed the keys and ran to unlock the door. "Allie what's wro—" he did not get a chance to finish the sentence as he is tackled into a hug. "Allie?" no response other than her crying.

Not knowing what else to do, Goro wraps his arms around her and starts stroking her hair. "Shh!" he tries to quiet her. "Everything's fine," he just continues, unsure if anything he's saying got through over the sounds of her sobbing.

Soon Lily, Kong, and a few staff members came to see what all commotion was about.

"Allie?" Lily says before asking Goro, "What happened?"

"I don't know." He answers. "I just don't know."

.oOo.

"So, your dad knows about us?" Kong asks. Everyone is now sitting at the table in the kitchen. Allie just nods still looking down at her diary.

"And he kicked you out?" Lily says. Once again Allie just nods bringing her diary closer as if to hug it.

Goro puts a hand on her shoulder "I'm sorry, Allie."

Allie takes a deep breath to try and calm herself down. "You have no reason to feel sorry, Goro," she looks at him then at the others. "None of you do," then looks at her diary before putting it down on the table. "It was his choice and mine."

Looking at her, Lily could only feel sympathy towards Allie. "You can stay here if you like. We can set you up in your own room."

Allie smiles as she gives her a nod. "I would like that."
