Kong's New Island Ch. 08

Lilly examines Kong's hands while changing the bandages, "It's almost healed up. I'm surprised," It has been a few days since the fire.

"Yeah. Should be faded by next week," Kong watches as she began wrapping his left hand. "If I had moved anymore debris chances are they would have been a reminder like my other scars," he places his free hand over his chest.

"Well, I think that it was mighty brave that you went in to help your friend," she smiles at him. "There all done."

Then, a car beating its horn can be heard from outside.

In the front of the building a white truck is parked with a few boxes outside. Goro is already in the back grabbing one of them.

Allie Jumps out of the front and calls out "Lily! Kong!" before running up to them. She quickly gives Lily a hug. "Are you sure it's alright if I have a room here?"

"Of course. What kind of friend would I be if I left them homeless?" Lily tells her. "Kong, why don't you go help with the boxes?"

"Because I don't want to," he answers honestly before getting a Lily glare at him for the third time that week. Kong did as he is told by taking three boxes with him.

Goro was making his second trip when he was stopped by Allie's father. "Richard?"

"I want to have a talk with you, son," he brings Goro over to the other side of the truck. "The way I see it I don't deserve to be part of your ohana any more than do I deserve to be part of my baby girl's. However, I am glad she has a guy like you," he holds out a hand.

"Thank you," Goro says as he shakes the man's hand. "That means a lot to me, sir," Then, he takes another box up to Allie's new room.

Allie walks up to her father, "Nice to see you're getting along with him."

"Yeah well, it's the least I can do." Richard reaches into the back of the truck to grab the last box. He let out a sigh as he passed it to his daughter. "Is there anything I can do to change my mind?"

Allie shakes her head. "Sorry, Dad. If anything, what you did proves that it's best for both of us that I start a life for myself."

"I just don't want to see my baby girl leave," he looked at the ground still feeling shame for what happened.

"I may not be a baby anymore, but you'll always be my daddy," Allie gives him a peck on his cheek. "How about I come and stay the night every Monday?"

"That sounds like a good idea," he hops into his truck.

"Next Monday at 6 in the afternoon."

"Make it five."

"Five thirty," Allie insists.

Richard shakes his head, "Alright," before taking off.
