Hi everyone, I'd like to thank Sasha Calle for inspiring me to write this fanfiction about Supergirl. Her character was really well written even though it was short. She did an amazing job with the character and I can't wait to see more of her as the Girl of Steel.

Prologue

Krypton

There is a woman in her early twenties on a bench overlooking the ocean on the planet Krypton. It was a beautiful afternoon, and she was spending time with her aunt Lara. Known only by her given name Kara-El, she held in her arms her baby cousin. Meeting each morning and enjoying the view were their daily rituals. Compared to their usual conversations, today was different.

On Earth, Whales are the equivalent of animals that swim in the ocean. On the planet Krypton, ocean dwelling creatures looked different but acted the same. They could hear people walking and enjoying themselves behind them. A bridge could be seen over her shoulder.

As Kara looked at her aunt, she said, "I've been having nightmares about Krypton recently."

"A dream cannot harm you, so what kind of dream would you dream?" Lara-El asked.

During the dream, Kara said, "Our planet blew up."

"Jor-El is on General Zod's ship conducting testing for a way to save Krypton, but I am worried if we don't find a way to save our people. Zod will blame him." Lara replied.

While rocking Kal-El to sleep, Kara said, "You don't think Zod is capable of killing Jor-El."

"Previously, I believed that, but lately I can't." Lara replied.

Taking a step back, Lara turned her gaze towards the building behind them. Her gaze was fixed on that spot and she was deeply absorbed in thought.

"The thought of not being there for my son makes me nervous. I'd like you to take care of him if anything happened to us." Lara replied.

Kara said, "I would be honored to watch my cousin if the worst happened. However, I know my mom won't give up until we are all saved. Too many in our council believe everything we hear is intended to scare children."

It has been my privilege to help your mom build an ark to save us all." she replied.

As Kara explained, "Kal is the first baby I have had in a long time, and I want him to grow up happy and enjoy the things I did here. I get there trying to find answers and also have fail safes in case things go awry."

Several people believed that a disaster was coming, so her mom was working on a project to save people from it. Some have argued that those who talk about doom and gloom are mistaken.

Alura, Kara's mother, was in a building making a ship with the latest technology that would save her people from the incoming threat. The ship was referred to as an Ark because it was their last hope for preserving their people.

Within minutes, they hear an explosion and look up at their sun. As a result of the sun exploding, the planet immediately felt its effects. As lava poured out of the ground, the ground shook violently. As they looked up at the sky, where the sun used to be, both Lara and Kara remained silent. As a result of what just happened, both of them are in shock and have worried faces.

Lara instinctively ran across the park and towards the shipyard without stopping to think. Getting her child and niece safely off this planet was all she could think about. She made this decision to save her family, a decision she would not regret.

As Kara rose from the bench, she ran toward the shipyard. It was her cousin Kal-El that she held in her arms. Located in the shipyard was a small looking ship that would fit children and adults alike. In addition, they carried bigger ships and items used by their armies. Upon reaching the doorway, Lara placed her hand into the hand print scanner. After the scanner began illuminating, the lights began checking who was accessing the door.

A door slowly opened in the shipyard, and she headed towards the small crafts designed for carrying one person or a baby. Looking at her, Kara said, "Where are we going?"

"You'll see in a few minutes." Lara replied.

After taking a deep breath, she invited Kara to follow her up the stairs. After ascending two flights of stairs, Lara headed for an area of the shipyard where there was space for a few small craft.

In an emergency or when it was necessary to enter planets without being seen, they used these craft. Two specially designed craft were designed by Alura to house Kara and Kal in this situation. Ultimately, Lara and Alura decided to create something to save their children after disagreeing about the designs. In spite of the fact that they both understood that their sun was destined to go supernova, they hoped to find a solution to save it.

Lara walked up to a console and pressed some buttons. Behind where they stood were huge ships that could carry armies of soldiers and devices that could terraform other planets. The Kryptonians used massive technological advancements to transform a planet that resembled Krypton in the past.

They would destroy all traces of life once existing on the planet. A lot of their people were resentful that they took what they wanted without considering the consequences. These technologies are still used to adjust places to fit their atmosphere in some cases.

There were other species out there with similar technologies. In addition to their similarities to Kryptonians, the Daxamites are a race that originated on the planet Daxam and have similar characteristics to them. Despite the talk of the sun being destroyed, both councils were in talks to solve the problem by working together despite some believing that Kryptonians should die.

It wasn't long before two small crafts dropped from the sky and appeared in front of both Lara and Kara. In a flash, Lara had her child in her arms and pressed a button, which opened the craft.

She placed Kal inside a ship designed specifically for babies. Not just any baby, this one was built to prevent Kal from moving around alone inside. She placed a crystal containing everything about Krypton on the child's chest. In an effort to stop her, Kara grabbed her arm. As she gazed at her niece, she said, "I know what you are thinking."

"I won't allow you to do this." Kara pleaded with her aunt, pulling her closer.

Taking a step away from her niece, Lara said, "I promised your mother I would protect you."

"This isn't the solution. The truth is that we need both of you in our lives and we want you to stand by us as we grow up and make mistakes as we go through life. I can assist in evacuating people to the ark." Kara replied with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Kara turned in the opposite direction of her aunt and pointed to where her mom was working when suddenly a needle came out of nowhere. Lara pulled a needle inside the pocket of her coat and saw a moment to inject something into the base of her neck. It was a chemical that caused someone to sleep and Lara knew the correct amount to give to her niece.

As a result, she loses her balance, and Lara carries her to the craft. As she closed the latch, she looked at her and said, "Kara, I'm sending both of you to earth, I'd like you to accompany Kal-El and teach him about our world."

"Please let me go. Don't send me away, I can help," Kara continued to plead with her aunt.

Lara said, "I'm afraid General Zod has already killed Kal-El's father, so it's unlikely any others will survive, but you both will. I'll go met your mother as soon as I send the two of you into space together."

The last thing Kara uttered before she slept was "Aunt Lar..."

Between her feet was a red and blue uniform with her house insignia emblazoned on the front. Her tears were streaming down her cheek as she kissed her Son's forehead before closing the latch and launching them both together. To protect them during the journey, both of them were placed in stasis.

After retracting the roof, both ships were able to leave the shipyard. As the ships approached Krypton's orbit, Lara wiped tears from her cheek. After running down two flights of stairs, she made her way to the bridge.

Seeing the planet deteriorating, people are running towards the ark in fear. In order to load the ark with as many people as possible, Alura Zor-El is loading it to the brim. Getting on the ark was challenging for the elderly. She and her staff greeted people at the ark door and offered assistance to those entering.

As the last group of survivors crossed the bridge, flames and ash spread across the bridge, causing Lara to stop in her tracks. Her eyes were fixed on Lara who was on the other side of the bridge as she opened the door.

The adjacent streets were filled with sounds of screams. In her gaze, Lara saw Alura Zor-El and shouted, "Leave without me."

"I won't leave you." Alura Zor-El shouted.

Upon entering the ark, Alura looked at her scientists and said, "Have them position the ship over Lara."

"Yes, Alura, I'll be there right away." He replied and ran toward the bridge.

As soon as the scientist reached the bridge, he gave the order for the ship to leave the building and the ground was lifted up. There was a retractable roof that could fit the ship and was large enough to accommodate it. While Alura placed her arm out to reach Lara, the Ark hovered over her as she wrapped her arm around a handle.

When Lara noticed that the road was cracking under her, she was surprised. After losing her footing, she slid into a sinkhole as the street cracked. In horror, Alura watched the lava pour over Lara, killing her as the ship hovered over her. The sight of Lara's death caused Alura Zor-El to scream in horror. As she returned to the ark, she commands them from her knees to proceed into space.

The ark carried only ten thousand Kryptonians when it sailed into space. As soon as they had entered space, they were speeding towards the Milky Way galaxy.

As a result of the explosion, pieces of Krypton move in opposite directions. There were some pieces that headed towards the Milky Way.

As the shockwaves hit the ship, Kara and Kal-El are both thrown towards Earth. Neither the location nor the fate of the ark was known. Kara and Kal, and their ships, were the only survivors of planet Krypton. In Kara's case, the ship crashed into Antarctica after entering the earth's orbit. After crash landing on the moon, Kal's ship remained undisturbed for some time. Several pieces of Krypton fell to Earth off the coast of Australia.
