ZRemnants of Tears

Ch 2: Great Sky Island

Jaune walked down some stone stairs picking up a tree branch and a blue mushroom known as a "Skyshroom". Seeing the tree branch, Jaune sheathed the damaged Master Sword and put it in his picking up a couple more branches, skyshrooms, and an apple, he was approached by a floating stone robot with a sharp blade on it's head wielding a tree branch. His grogginess caused his aura to take a small blow as his body didn't respond at first, but he soon jumped over the second attack and flurry rushed it, breaking his branch and grabbing the one he dropped-smacking it until it exploded and dropped the sharp "soldier construct horn" and a "zonai charge".

After grabbing a more sturdy wooden stick, Jaune was put out to find that his new pouch only held 9 weapons.

There was some strange statue in the same colors as the robot that attacked him with the strange egg-like decorations on top. As he examinied it, it started moving and revealed two hands floating from energy, and a "neck" made of the same energy with stone rings leading to a "one-eyed" head. It tilted it's head before speaking.

"Jaune. I have waited for you. Princess Yang left something for you in my care."

A drawer opened in it's chest, revealing a familiar object.

"This is the Purah Pad. I am told it is an invaluable tool that will provide you with direction."

Jaune quietly thanked the robot and picked up the item before attaching it to his belt.

"I received it from Princess Yang. I have now passed it on to you. My records indicate that Princess Yang is waiting at the location marked on its map." The robot said, "My message has been delivered."

"Where am I?" Jaune asked.

"We stand in the Garden of Time." The robot replied, before looking at a towering white structure, "The Temple of Time is visible from here. It was used in the distant past. Many rites and ceremonies of the kingdom were held there. But no more. Now it is a lonely place. No one visits."

The same green symbol that opened the door lit up on a half circle near a gap in the island.

Jaune looked at the map, showing a dot marked in the Temple of Time. Pressing his Zonai hand against the green symbol caused it to dissipate as a bride slid out and close the gap.

As he grabbed another wooden stick, a similar robot to the one that gave him the Purah Pad spoke up.

"Hello. You seem to be new here. Do you intend to use that as a weapon against the Soldier Constructs?"

"Soldier constructs?" Jaune asked with a tilt of his head.

"Soldier Constructs are those of us given strict orders to protect this land. The Zonai who created us directed them to eliminate trespassers. They will consider you a trespasser. You must treat them as a serious threat." The robot said, before suggesting to target them and not swing haphazardly.

Jaune dove off another ledge into a pool of water, before destroying a soldier construct. He didn't care if he was shirtless, or had a strange arm. All that mattered was finding Yang...and accepting any punishment she gave for failing her.

He faced off three constructs at once, losing a chunk of his aura but getting two more wooden sticks and a long stick in place of his tree branches, before stopping to roast a couple of skyshrooms before swimming to the Temple of Time's stairway.

The soldier in front of the door proved no trouble, also dropping a rusty broadsword and an old wooden shield with a Zonai design on it.

Jaune got to the door and pressed his right hand against the green design...which suddenly turned red and formed an X shape. His arm started to glow blue, before that voice he heard earlier spoke again.

"That door will only open to those with sufficient power."

Jaune turned, seeing the blue, ghostly figure of a Zonai. "I'm sorry. I did not intend to startle you. It was I that spoke to you earlier. That right arm originally belonged to me."

Jaune noticed that the ghost's right arm was more transparent than the rest of him, and looked at his new arm.

"I am Rauru". The Zonai ghost introduced yourself. Jaune opened his mouth "I already know who you are, Jaune." The ghost cut him off.

"Forgive me for appearing to you in this manner. Unfortunately I no longer possess a physical form. In any case, that arm should have allowed you to open this door. It seems to have lost the power to do so. You might be able to restore it, but you would need to enter a place filled with sacred light...of course! Why not visit the shrines on this island!"

A large stone with a dragon frame decoration around it suddenly had the same swirling light form at the top of it.

"The shrines around Hyrule and the islands in the sky...yes I am sure they are the key to restoring your strength." Rauru said, before fading from sight.

After going down the stairs and heading to the nearest shrine, he defeated a soldier construct to get some arrows and an old wooden bow. Climbing up the wall to the shrine while grabbing a couple rushrooms, he noticed that white dragon with golden fur that seemed to radiate light. There...was a FOURTH dragon he hadn't seen?!

He pressed his hand against the symbol on the shrine, lighting up a shiekah teleport mark, and a green opening formed on the rock, revealing a room within it.

Rauru appeared before him in the shrine "So you've made it here. This is a Shrine of Light. Long ago, I filled these places with light that purges evil. I believe this light will retore an ability your right arm has lost. Now then, extend your hand."

Jaune holds his right arm out and green light swirls around it, forming an orb that absorbs into his hand...revealing the ability ultrahand; the ability to grab objects from afar, move them, rotate them, and stick them to other objects. Getting to the end of the shrine was now easy thanks to being able to make platforms and structures with ultrahand. At the end he received a golden orb called a "Light of Blessing." It didn't remove it, but he could feel the orb loosening the damage from the Gloom. Was it possible to restore his lost strength at Goddess statues for four lights of blessings?

Past the shrine, Jaune picked up some fireflies and a stone axe. A steward robot was chopping at a tree.

"I see that they're still at work even now." Rauru's ghost told Jaune, "We originally created the constructs to assist in our endeavors. All of us were fond of them.I never imagined they would continue to carry out their assigned tasks to this day. The fact that their labor no longer serves any purpose, yet they perform it still...it is disquieting to me."

Making a makeshift bridge using fallen logs and ultrahand, Jaune used a few arrows to catch three fish known as Ancient arowanas...and under a rock hid a korok which gave him a seed.

On another rock farther down was a korok with an oversized backpack who had been separated from his friend, but was too tired to move. There was green smoke where said other Korok was waiting for it. Seeing a metal rail, Jaune made a makeshift raft he stuck the Korok to and attached a large hook on the top before putting the hook on the rail and climbing on. Once across, he used ultrahand to bring the korok to his friend, earning two korok seeds.

Sliding down another railing, he detached the hook and replaced it with a sail as a large pond separated him from the shrine. After defeating a chuchu and a solder construct, he got in the second shrine and recieved another ability for his hand: Fuse. The ability to attach something to an equipped weapon or shield to enhance it...like say attaching one of the soldier blades to the wooden stick. He fused a boulder to a thick, two-handed stick to make a makeshift sledgehammer. to destroy stone blocking his path.

Jaune frowned seeing only space for 5 bows and 4 shields. In the shrine, Jaune found a new plant called a Fire Fruit. When attached to an arrow, he found it had the same effect as a fire arrow.

Finally, he made it to the end after defeating a Captain 1 construct, earning a Captain 1 horn blade and a construct bow

Upon exiting the shrine, he heard a familiar robotic voice.

"Jaune. I came because there is something I failed to give you." The construct who gave him the Purah Pad stated, "Please take it.." It reached in and handed him a belt decoration that had 7 empty slots and one with three blue sections. This...was an energy cell.

"What I have given you is an energy cell. It is required to make use of the tools known as Zonai devices. If it runs out of power, it will recharge automatically."

With that, it headed back to where it was.

After destroying more constructs, he started cooking at a pot while humming "Ballad of the WindFish" to himself. The ended up making energizing meat and mushroom skewer, energizing steamed meat, energizing fruit and mushroom mix, and hasty fruit and mushroom mix.

In a cave, was a strange creature called a Bubbul frog, which dropped a Bubbel Gem when defeated. Jaune found some plants known as brightbloom seeds, and got some amber, rock salt, flint, and a ruby from some ore. Also in the cave was an archaic tunic-which looked like a toga.

Once out of the cave he got to use the energy cell, making a raft with a fan to make a makeshift "hovercraft" to move over the water against the wind.

After facing more monsters and constructs, Jaune made it into the mining cave. Here, he discovered that throwing a brightbloom seed would cause it to bloom where it landed, and made a makeshift light in a small area. In there he got another bubbel gem and found strange ore known as zonaite. A construct gave him three zonai capsules containing fans, and learned that while the island was running out of zonaite, there was an almost nonstop source below Hyrule. He traded 30 Zonaite for 10 crystalized charges, and soon was told 100 made an energy well to add to his energy cell.

Finding what looked like a giant gumball dispenser, Jaune put in five zonai charges, earning twelve zonai capsules with fans, portable cooking pots, and flame emitters before escorting another korok to its friend. Seeing a snowy biome where the last shrine was, Jaune frowned not finding any insulated clothes, so he had to find spicy peppers and make spicy simmered fruits to eat to withstand the cold.

He managed to make it into a slightly warm cave and found a new plant growing throughout Hyrule...a bomb flower. As he continued through the cave, he found a white monster with a green mouth filled with sharp teeth clinging to the walls...a Like-Like. When he got close, it opened it's mouth-preparing to swallow him, but exposed an orange orb. When Jaune hit said orb with an arrow, it stunned the Like-Like...this was it's weakness. After hitting the orb a few times, it vanished into smoke of a defeated monster, leaving a chest with an opal and a Like Like stone.

After tredging through snow, ice chuchus, like likes, and constructs, he was glad to make it in the third shrine and get the ability...Ascend. This ability let him move upwards through solid material and emerge on top of it.

After completing the shrine, Rauru appeared before Jaune.

"I see you've restored some power to that new arm of yours. The door into the Temple of Time should now open for you." With that, he faded. After ascending through an outcropping, Jaune found archaic warm greaves in time for the effect of the spicy simmered fruit to end. Thankfully these new pants kept him warm enough to not drain his aura from exposure as he worked his way back to the Temple of Time.

This trip was made easier by a gliding device known as a "Wing".

Jaune approached the large doors again, took a breath, and pressed his hand against the green symbol. This time, the doors swung inwards.

In a pedestal, looked like a giant image of the stone Yang was holding when she vanished. Not seeing anyone else here, Jaune pressed his hand against the image. A bright gold flash blinded him.

When he opened his eyes, he was in a misty copy in front of a sleeping Yang in a white dress with a green strip and zonai designs on it. The sleeping figure reached out her hand.

"Yang?" Jaune said, taking her hand in his, "Yang please wake up."

She didn't wake up. Instead the stone around her neck glowed and a golden flow flowed into his new arm.

Then Yang let go and her arm dropped to her side as Jaune inspected a yellow symbol on the back of his hand.

"YANG!" Jaune yelled, reaching forward as she faded into golden light.

Back where he was, Jaune could only inspect this new power.

Recall; the ability to reverse an object's movement until it returned to it's original position, and he could stop said reversal at any time.

"Ah, Recall...the ability to reverse the movement of an object through time." Rauru noted as he appeared, "And Yang has vanished as well...What you just saw...it's a mystery even to me. Perhaps it was sort of an echo-one that reflects her sheer will. That you've now been given this ability...no doubt, it will prove important."

Jaune used recall on water wheels to make it to a door.

Passing a Goddess Statue, he pressed his hands against the door, feeling his aura draining. Just about when his Aura was about to run out, he slid off, panting.

"You remain in a weakened state. You're not yet strong enough to open it." Rauru said as he appeared, "But...there is one more shrine on this island. There, you can get another blessing. If you add that to the other blessings you recieved at shrines and offer them all to the Goddess...you might just find your way forward after all."

He marked the shrine, near the room he awakened in, and then he teleported there with the Purah Pad. He had to use ascend and recall to make it to a hidden room with the shrine.

Once he had four blessings, he prayed to the Goddess Statue and awakened another chunk of Aura, feeling some of the Gloom leaving him as he restored another 100 Aura Points...which was just enough to open the door...barely. He looked over as his arm glow as Rauru was there.

"Ah good...I see you managed to open the door." Rauru said, "You haven't fully recovered yet-but that is to be expected. You were almost beyond saving...by visiting the shrines and receiving their blessings...you have mitigated the corruption's effects. Though our time together has been brief, I am so happy that we finally met...You are exactly as Yang said."

They looked over a pedistal hanging over the sky as the wind blew.

"I've done all I can for her." Rauru said, as blue sparkles started blowing in the wind from his body, "Now it is up to you." With that, his form faded into the sparkles and blew away in the wind.

Jaune went down the pathway, using ascend to go up when the paths dropped. Finally, he approached a stone pedistal with a glowing yellow orb floating there. He heard something from his Master Sword as his Recall power resonated with the glow.

"You're saying...this can heal you?" Jaune asked, as the sword glowed in response.

He nodded and placed his sword in the glow. As the sword glowed, it seemed to blur through time, and landed in the hands of Yang, wearing the outfit Jaune saw her in.

To Jaune, his sword just vanished as the glow did.

After the sword vanished, The dragon flew up and parted the clouds, revealing the ground below.

"Jaune...you must find me." Yang's voice called in the air.

He gazed down, knowing his only way to find her was in Hyrule... and spotting a lake down below, Jaune leaped off the pedistal.
