Chapter 1: It Fell From the Sky

During the early hours of the morning, in Sydney, Australia. The sky was lit up by 5 meteors that shot across the sky and hit the water. As a result of the overwhelming number of calls, the police were overwhelmed.

In the middle of the night, Amanda Waller was roused by the sound of her cell phone while lying in bed. When she took the phone from the nightstand, she instantly recognized the number.

She said, "Hello."

The other end of the line belonged to Lieutenant Blake. During the conversation, he informed her of what had happened off the coast of Australia.

"During the early hours of the morning, five meteors struck the water and our scientists believe one is a piece of the craft discovered in Antarctica." Lieutenant Blake replied.

"Are they certain it was the group that NASA observed in their telescopes?" Amanda Waller asked.

These were the ones seen, but they hoped that it would break up in the stratosphere." Lieutenant Blake replied.

Amanda Waller said, "I'd like a team sent with the scientists and if there is anyone who comes across the meteors I expect you to inform them not to mention what they saw."

There's no need to worry, I'll inform everyone on board the plane of the consequences of discussing the mission. We'll eliminate anybody who steps outside the lines." Lieutenant Blake replied.

Amanda Waller said, "The President and I are meeting this week to discuss the discoveries."

Do you want me to be a part of that meeting?" Lieutenant Blake asked.

At sunrise, the sun was rising over a runway where a plane was parked. A mini airport was located fifty miles from the faculty in Antarctica. In the plane's cargo hold, Lieutenant Blake directs those carrying equipment.

In this expedition, archaeologists were ordered to assist, and Dr. Thomas O'Neill served as the lead archaeologist. Normally, he would be sent to countries around the world to uncover secrets. However, he found it interesting to find a piece of rock that was from an alien planet.

A good way to prove we aren't alone in the universe would be for him to hold the rocks in his hand. The only thing standing between him and the Nobel Prize was Amanda Waller. In order to travel to Sydney, Australia, the team must travel for 8 hours and 49 minutes. Upon boarding, all the crew and equipment were placed on board.

Onboard the plane, Lieutenant Blake made sure all the equipment ordered was present. After taking off, the plane flew towards its destination.

On the following morning, Tyson was playing with rocks that were brightly colored while he and his family were swimming in the water. A look of fear crossed his mother's face as she shouted, "Don't play with the rocks, honey!"

As the mother runs towards her child and has wipes available to clean his hands, the kid drops the rock.

Suddenly, a group of military personnel surrounded and cordoned off the area as the family attempted to leave. This area was not accessible to anyone. As guns are pointed at the family, they hold their hands in the air. There were M16's pointed directly at the family, which gave the family a look of concern and confusion. After seeing the fear in their eyes, Lieutenant Blake decided that they should lower their weapons. Taking a look at them, he said, "I think we should lay down our weapons."

Upon closer inspection, the family realized that Lieutenant Blake was in charge of the men who pointed M16s at them. As a result, the person in charge allowed them to put their hands down and talk to him.

In response, the father looked at the Lieutenant and asked, "Why aren't we allowed to leave?"

A look of confusion crossed the father's face as Lieutenant Blake explained that, "I am not at liberty to say anything on this matter. However, I would advise you not to mention the rocks you found."

As she looked at the Lieutenant, the mother pointed at the rocks and asked, "What's the problem with talking about them?"

Lieutenant Blake glanced at the family and said, "We don't know what contaminants you've been exposed to."

He asked in a concerned tone, "Are you telling me that my family has been exposed to something dangerous?"

Lieutenant Blake looked back and said, "No. But we can't rule any possibility out, so if you follow me to our facility where we've set up the tests, we'll find out."

In addition to escorting the family to their parked car, the Lieutenant also assisted them in getting into it. The Audi A3 sedan the families were driving was a 2010 model. He tapped the window of the sedan as he stood outside the driver's side.

A signal was given to the father to roll down his window. When he heard what the lieutenant had asked, the father understood. After nodding, he rolled down his window and answered the question. As the father looked at the Lieutenant, he opened his window and said, "I'll follow you to the faculty."

After nodding, he made his way to his van and began heading towards the faculty. This warehouse had been abandoned for a long time. Located on the dashboard was a button that opened the garage door. As the van and sedan drove into the building, their doors closed behind them. In the warehouse, you immediately notice how dirty it was. Upon exiting their car, the family looks around in amazement and wonder at the faculty. As they walk towards the elevator, they all descend three floors.

After exiting the elevator, everyone was escorted out by a man in military gear. After following the man to a room with opposite-facing windows, the family found themselves alone.

Lieutenant Blake was looking at another employee in an adjacent room who had a cigarette in his mouth and was wearing glasses. Having been assigned this facility by the President, Patrick Owens was from Brooklyn, New York. It had been almost a year since he had taken over the place and had worked for Checkmate. Since the beginning, Amanda Waller has managed him and been his supervisor.

It has been her pleasure to watch him and guide him through this process. In the event she chose to retire, she hoped he would replace her. When Lieutenant Blake reached the table that had been leaning against the wall, he grabbed the folder with the correct documents for the family to sign.

Seeing the Lieutenant's contemplative look, Patrick said, "I really hope they sign these documents."

The Lieutenant Blake said, "I'm confident the family will make the right decision."

Lieutenant Blake walked toward the door and made his way to the room where the family waited. The sound of a door opening behind the family can be heard after a few minutes. Upon entering the room, they recognize the officer. They had never imagined they'd be in this kind of situation. They'd seen such scenes in movies.

While sitting across from the family, the lieutenant presented each of them with a folder and instructed them to sign the papers. After looking at them, he said, "I would like you to sign the following forms before we begin testing."

"We were supposed to run some tests, I thought." The father remarked.

Lieutenant Blake said, "We're still planning on running tests, but first we'll draw blood to check for viruses."

It was at this point that some doctors entered the room and began taking blood from the family. In the next few minutes, the parents began reading the 10 page non-disclosure agreement."

Ten minutes later, Blake's father threw the document back at him. It wasn't surprising to him that the family would reject the offer. After looking at him, the father explained his reasons for refusing to sign.

As Lieutenant Blake listened attentively to their reasons for not signing, he understood why they didn't want to sign.

"As a result of reading the 10 pages, I have decided it does not align with anything I have ever stood for." The father replied.

As Lieutenant Blake pointed out, "You realize that you will be well taken care of financially."

"It's no secret that the money is significant, but I feel this is hush money considering what we've seen." The father replied, looking at his loved ones."

Lieutenant Blake said, "Is there anything I can do to help you reconsider signing the contract?"

"There is nothing you can say that will convince us to change our minds." The father replied.

The mother looked at Lieutenant Blake and said, "Our family has learned to support his decisions once he has made them." I apologize for the inconvenience."

"In that case, there is nothing I can do to protect you." Lieutenant Blake replied.

Suddenly, the door of the building behind them opened, and a man wearing a suit pulled out a pistol.

A man named Ian Fletcher was on duty at this checkmate facility as the security guard. In the morning, Amanda Waller had authorized him to eliminate them if they refused to cooperate. He was standing behind the glass window and had been watching the family closely.

The man pointed his pistol at the family and fired one shot into their heads. Upon hearing the shots fired, Lieutenant Blake became startled. As the shots rang in his ears, he turned his attention to the man in the suit.

He said, "It wasn't necessary for them to be eliminated."

"Just like you, I have orders." Ian Fletcher replied.

Lieutenant Blake said, "Are you implying I'm not following orders?"

"No, but I find you way too soft. In this business, one needs to be as ruthless as possible." Ian Fletcher Replied.

During that conversation, Lieutenant Blake said, "One thing I noticed about you is that you've always wanted my job."

"Can you blame me?" Ian Fletcher replied.

Lieutenant Blake said, "I could, but I won't."

From the knife holster on the left side of his leg, Lieutenant Blake pulled out a knife. By the time he had reached Ian Fletcher's throat, he had slit his throat. His cutting was precise, causing the most damage where he cut. The blood from his throat is seen dripping from the man's body. As a result of the loss of blood, the man died.

As Lieutenant Blake looked down at Ian Fletcher's dead body, he said, "If you were looking for a ruthless person, then here I am."

On his left leg, he reinserted the knife into its knife holster. With his shirt, he wiped the knife that was dripping with blood. Entering the room, Patrick Owens looked at the dead body and was surprised at what he had just witnessed. He looked at Lieutenant Blake and said, "Was that really necessary?"

"He left me with no choice. Do not hesitate to notify Amanda of this incident if you feel the need to do so. For years, he has pushed me and I have finally had enough."

As Patrick Owen looked at Blake, he said, "I intend to inform her about this incident, and I am certain she will punish you for killing my security guard."
