My life had already changed so much since we moved to Forks over a decade ago.

Bella brought many troubles when she joined the family, but after Renesmee, I realized that my grudges towards her were pointless. We were more similar than I'd thought.

Jacob had been an endless annoyance, especially after we moved away from Forks. Still, I managed to get over the wolf smell and his cocky attitude once we started working on my car. I'll never say it to his face, but he's a way better mechanic than I am. Now, we were good friends.

Renesmee gave me the opportunity for a few moments of stolen motherhood, though she grew up so fast.

And then came Brielle, sweeping us all up into a world full of magic and witches and who knows what else. But with her and her insane world came my little brother- now nearly 100. Jack was the last living family member I knew from my human life, and he was incredibly accepting of my new self. Brielle was his granddaughter, and she and her brother had welcomed me back into their family with open arms. The fact that both kids were immortals as well felt reassuring. I'd always have that tie to the past.

"Rosalie, Brielle's coming. She'll need to talk to you," Alice said, finishing just as Brielle appeared on the porch. I was still getting used to the idea of magic, so the sudden smell of a witch and another wolf startled me. She'd brought Seth too, apparently.

"Emmett needs to be there as well," Brielle said as I opened the door. My great niece seemed oddly nervous.

I frowned. "What's wrong?"

She shook her head. "Oh, no, nothing's wrong. There's just something I need to ask you two."

"Okay," I replied cautiously. "Emmett, let's go out a ways. You can follow, right, Brielle?"

She laughed and nodded. "Easily."

We all ended up standing out in the woods, beside a little stream, rushing along. The sound helped calm my anxiousness.

"What did you need to talk about, Brielle?" I asked. Despite her previous assurance, I could tell she had something important to say, and a few dozen terrible options were racing around my head.

"It's a bit of a long story, but recently, the Witch High Council came into custody of some kids that had been kidnapped and trapped in an awful facility. Unfortunately, I can't say much about that part, it's classified to the highest degree. We've almost finished getting all the kids to safe families. Eight of them are home now. The last of the children, the youngest two, still need parents, though- ideally ones that won't age," she explained.

I slipped my fingers into Emmett's, impossible hope rushing through me. I could barely respond, my emotions were so overwhelming. "What are their names?"

My eyes closed as I listened to her speak. "They're siblings. The older one is Alexei," Brielle said. "He's three. He has dark curly hair and and infectious little laugh. The baby is Hope. She's just over four months old, with curly blonde hair and two tiny dimples. She's the calmest baby I've ever met. Both have hazel eyes, close to your 'in-between' shade."

Alexei and Hope. They were my children the moment I heard their names. Unimaginable, immeasurable joy filled my heart. This was everything I'd ever wanted, and I got to share it with the love of my eternal life. I could feel my eyes welling with phantom tears, tears of pure happiness.

Emmett squeezed my hand. "So where are they?"

I could hear eagerness and love in his voice, too. Emmett had never considered fatherhood, not really. He knew it wasn't an option, so he didn't dwell on it. That was just who he was. But I'd always known that if we'd had the chance, he would've been a perfect father. Well, now he would be.

My eyes opened and I stared at Brielle intently, waiting for her answer.

"With a council member right now. But we can bring them as soon as you're ready. I spoke with Alice earlier, mentally, and she told me there would be no objections from the family. Everyone will be ready to help you prepare for them as soon as we get back. Seth and I'll be around to help too, of course."

I didn't pause to hear any more. I was back at the house instantly. It seemed Alice had filled everyone in. She had a collection of clothing sketches and images for my children ready to look over, her phone ready to go, and email tabs open so we could start ordering things the minute I confirmed her visions.

Esme swept me into a hug before I could begin, kissing my cheek. "Congratulations, Rose," she said warmly. Out of anyone, Esme knew best what this meant to me. We'd been the only ones to truly feel the loss of motherhood- though I was more bitter than she was. Her smile was radiant and I could tell she was excited to be a grandma again, to have little ones to spoil.

"Thank you," I choked out, the emotions threatening to overflow.

"Come on, come on! There's so much to do! We have to pick everything out for the kids, and for the new house!" Alice chirped.

I looked at her confused. "New house?"

"We're moving, apparently. Sweet Home, Oregon," Edward explained. "Esme is building a new home for all of us there."

It was an absolute whirlwind for the next two days as we go everything sorted.

Emmett and I decided to live as an adult married couple. We'd be Esme's sister and brother-in-law, The McCartys, and our two beautiful children. It'd been a long time since we'd used Emmett's last name for anything, but I liked that fact that we could pass it on now. Everyone else would fall into their usual arrangements. The only change was that Jasper was now my younger brother and Renesmee and Edward were twins.

Carlisle secured his position at a local hospital and the others all got registered for high school in the fall.

My great-nephew Chris and his wife made the house more perfect than any of us could've imagined- probably because they basically just told the materials to match what Esme designed, no tools needed. It was divided into four linked houses with a central space for the library, main kitchen, and the like. Edward and Bella shared with Nessie and Jacob, while the rest of us got our own.

My section of the house was straight out of my dreams. A big porch and big lawn. The interior was less modern than Esme's normal choices for us, but it made it a perfect home for a family. Comfy couches, a big playroom, and a gorgeous kitchen. It was lucky I'd picked up some cooking from watching Edward.

Alexei had a forest themed room, based on the spot where we learned about him. It had a treehouse bed and lofted wooden pathways for him to play on, a long with lots of storage for his toys. There was a built in sound system in the walls that could play music or white noise for when it was time for him to sleep. Brielle had mentioned that background noise helped him.

Hope's room was princess themed. Cream, pale pink, and gold accents. It was fairly simply now, but we'd change it before we left, undoubtedly. The best part was the crib. Jacob had stayed up for two days straight to make it himself, occasionally helped by Nessie, and it was stunning. A circular crib decorated to look like a royal carriage. Perhaps a bit much to some, but it was the best gift ever.

We were ready.

I smelled them the minute Brielle appeared in the foyer, and I had to stop myself to rushing out at full speed. I was surprised that Emmett's hand didn't shatter in my grip. I was extremely nervous. Alexei, at least, had known a mother before me, and nobody was sure how he'd react to us. The idea of him hating me was unbearable.

Despite the nerves, I couldn't contain my smile. No one else could either. Tiny foot steps entered the room.
