But I will say this, there are spoilers for a Stephen King series, and those that don't want to be spoiled by anything? Don't read this.
Warnings for talk of rape and child abuse, not to mention violence in general.
(For plot reasons, the man that Revy killed, who we're supposed to assume is her father, isn't her biological father.)
Again, there will be spoilers in this for a series by Stephen King. Those that don't want to be spoiled, if you are reading a series by Stephen King, avoid this.
The enemy returns
Chapter one:
The mark of the king
It was a hot day in Roanapur-no surprises there.
Even so, the windows of Hotel Moscow, were all shut.
No matter, the air conditioner was running smoothly on.
Of course, the air conditioner being up and running, didn't make much difference to the young woman of twenty-seven, rocking herself back and forth against the thick thigh between her legs and closing her eyes as she did.
She heard a chuckle below her as she rode that leg, feeling those strong, powerful hands cupping her ass cheeks, moving her forcefully along on that muscled, scarred thigh.
She felt the older woman holding her, push in closer, and felt a hot mouth around her right nipple sucking, making the younger woman cry out.
Rebecca-commonly known in Roanapur, as "Revy Two-Hands," was respected and feared throughout all of Roanapur-well, throughout most of Roanapur.
When she was here, in Hotel Moscow, with her lov-with her fuckbuddy, Balalaika? It was quite different.
Someone so much as looked at Revy the wrong way, and they feared for their lives, believing that Revy would riddle their bodies full of holes-which she probably would, depending on who had given her the wrong look.
But with Balalaika, she was completely always at the older woman's mercy.
Revy felt the mouth move from her nipple and heard Balalaika's thick, husky voice speak, her Russian accent leaking out, "Go on, moya devushka, come for me."
And well, Revy was in no way able to risk, as usual.
She ground herself against Balalaika's leg, feeling her climax hitting hard, and she cried out, bucking harder against the older woman, feeling herself clench around nothing, and feeling herself coming fast.
She gave a strangled cry as she soaked Balalaika's thigh and felt herself inevitably sag against Balalaika, shaking and panting, resting her sweaty forehead against Balalaika's right shoulder.
She heard Balalaika give a muffled chuckle, as the older woman held Revy.
"Sis-" Revy began, but Balalaika cut her off.
"Shh, just rest moya lyubov'." Balalaika whispered and Revy tensed a moment.
She knew what that Russian phrase, "moya lyubov'," meant. It meant "my love."
It made her tense and uneasy. Uneasy, because of how it made warmth fill her stomach and chest, and how it made her almost whimper, how it gave her hope. She and Balalaika had been together now for almost four years now. Since Revy had been twenty-three.
Revy had been given hope in the past, and it usually had failed her.
It had led to her getting beaten up again and again by her foster father, it had led to her getting arrested, then raped in prison, it had led to people she cared about dying...
And her...abilities hadn't even developed till later...when she had met her biological parents. And that led to even more fucked up trauma.
Well, no need to think too much on that.
Revy, despite Balalaika's urgency for her to relax for the moment, asked quietly, "Don't yah want me to eat you out?"
She heard the blonde chuckle against her as Balalaika stroked her left hand up and down Rebecca's back.
"Soon, Rebecca," Balalaika answered, "For now, just relax, lyubov'."
Revy fought the need to stiffen again.
That word again.
Later on that day, after Balalaika and Revy both got dressed and after Balalaika held Revy close, kissed her forehead and saw Revy off, and Revy left Hotel Moscow, Revy got back to the Lagoon Company, and learned from Dutch that Balalaika had called them and told them they had a job.
Revy snorted and fought the need to roll her eyes. Of course, Balalaika told Dutch by phone, rather than telling Revy herself. Granted, Revy was positive that everyone knew about her and Balalaika's relationship, they just knew better than to say anything-however, to keep things professional Balalaika had spoken only to Dutch about the business.
But she just grumbled, "Fuckin' whatever. Where's the job?"
The job, as it turned out, was at the edge of the city, and there were some thugs that had stolen cargo that Balalaika had ordered. A series of weapons which had been confiscated by this group.
Hence, why the Lagoon Company was being sent out to kill that group and get the belongings back.
And they took off soon after the order was given. They drove along the water, the boat going at its usual reliable, fast speed.
The bright sun beat down on the surface of the water and on the boat.
It was when the boat was then almost four hours away from the harbor where the Lagoon Company was, that the boat which they had been seeking out, came into view.
And to Dutch's surprise, looking ahead, the boat was unmoving.
Dutch narrowed his eyebrows. "The fuck?" He mumbled.
Shouldn't the people that had stolen what belonged to Balalaika, be far from Roanapur by now?
But they weren't.
Why hadn't they fled completely?
Dutch wanted to see this as a good thing, that the people that had taken whatever they had taken from Balalaika, remained here, still, something pricked at the back of his skull. Something about this, didn't sit right.
Still, he said, talking into the radio, "Okay, Revy, get ready to board. Be careful. Something's off here."
Revy must have had her comm on, because she said, "Yeah, I hear yah, Dutch. No fucking worries. I'm ready to go."
Dutch sighed, deciding to dismiss his unease.
He heard a metal door behind the door of the cabin open up and heard movement on the right side of the boat, and watched as Revy went by the windows, on the deck.
Dutch watched her reach the end of the front of the ship as he slowed down, allowing her to leap off of the Lagoon boat, onto the opposite boat, which was bigger than the Lagoon company's boat, and much more well armed.
Still, Revy, with her trusty cutlasses, moved along the deck of the boat, scanning it, then went into the cabinet, both guns raised.
Dutch waited, and listened to what Revy said as she went through the boat.
"Dutch?" Revy said, "I don't know what to fucking tell you. I'm not seeing anyone here."
Dutch's jaw clenched.
The word that popped out into the back of his mind was clear. Trap. This was a trap.
(I need to get her out of there,) Dutch thought to himself.
Then he heard Revy gasp.
"Revy?!" Dutch said, feeling the panic almost rise, then heard her exclaim, disbelief in her face, "Holy fuck. Dutch…they're dead. They're all dead. Someone just mowed 'em down or something before we got here!"
Dutch raised his head. Because what?
Someone had already killed everyone on board? Had they fucking gone crazy and killed each other? Or someone killed them all and took the weapons for themselves?
The fuck was going on here?
"A…," Revy began, voice strained then, "Dutch? I think we have a motherfucking problem."
Dutch detected the unease in Revy's voice and he asked, "What is it?"
Revy said, "Dutch, there's a symbol on the wall, across from the fucking door. Above all the bodies. It's…it's a symbol we'd recognize. Benny would recognize it too. It's his symbol, Dutch! It's red. And it looks like a fucking eye."
Dutch's heart stopped, or almost stopped, by that point.
His symbol. A symbol that was red and looked like an eye.
Dutch didn't need Revy to elaborate. It was the symbol. The Crimson King's symbol.
"I thought we wiped out anyone that worked for him ages ago," they heard Benny cut in, informing them that he had a comm and had been listening.
"I fucking thought so too," Revy all but whispered now, "I'm gonna check if the supplies have been taken. After? I think we need to get the fuck out of here."
"Agreed," Dutch said, fighting a shiver, "You move, Revy! Fast!"
Revy confirmed that and began searching for what had been taken from Balalaika.
Dutch felt coldness in his stomach. The Crimson King still was around, still had people that worked for him.
Did that mean that Randall Flagg and Mordred still lived? Maybe. But as Dutch knew, there were other disciples of the Crimson King besides Flagg and Mordred.
None of them were anything close to people who any of them would want to run into in a dark alleyway, or anywhere at all, to say the least.
That wasn't even taking into account Revy's biological parents. But that was another barrel of fucked up fish, altogether.
He heard movement on the other end, then heard Revy snarl, "Fuck! I can't find it! There's nothing here that could be what Balalaika wants."
Dutch didn't like this and he said, "We'll figure it out later. Just get back onboard and we'll get out of here."
He didn't like retreating with his tail between his legs, but anything was better than being caught unawares by someone working for the Crimson King.
Revy threw out her confirmation and said she was heading back.
Below deck, Benny heard all this and shuddered, moving over to where Rock was seated, looking up at the blonde man, confused.
Rock asked, frowning, "Benny? What's going on?"
Benny sighed. How did he explain something like the Crimson King and his followers to Rock? Someone who had spent almost his whole life safe from harm, till he had been brought to Roanapur?
How did he explain Mid-World, or Randall Flagg or Mordred or Revy's biological parents or the "Beams" or the Dark Tower?
He was positive that the answer was pretty obvious.
He couldn't explain something like that. Not easily, anyway.
"We'll explain later, Rock," Benny assured him, "Right now, we need to get the hell out of here."
Benny was certain that he looked extremely tired right now.
That was probably because Benny felt tired. Just from hearing Revy's announcement? Benny had felt himself age forty years, mentally.
Because weren't he, Revy and Dutch done with this shit already?
They had already lost so many people because of the Crimson King…Eddie, Jake, Oy, Callahan.
Susannah? They didn't know if she still lived. They hoped she was alive, of course. But how did they know?
Roland? Maybe he had died. They didn't know about him, either.
But after the battle, they had lost so many. And barely had come out the other side alive.
The Crimson King had watched by the Dark Tower's base, as they walked from Mordred's destroyed corpse, and they had suffered from their losses, hearing the laughter of Revy's biological parents in the back, mocking them for the pain they felt over losing parts of their ka-tet.
It was bad enough that Revy, who had inherited her abilities from her biological parents, tried to get her to their side, to help work for the Crimson King, so as to bring the Tower down and destroy everything.
And now that Benny learned that the Crimson King was still around? That meant that the mission to bring down the Dark Tower had started anew.
Which meant all of life was in danger. That wasn't Benny just being dramatic. That's what it meant.
If the Dark Tower toppled? All of life in every world, would be ashes.
Benny could just feel his exhaustion, knowing that they needed to face the Crimson King.
Again.
Benny heard Revy get aboard their boat and Dutch began to drive the boat away from the other boat, where the symbol of their adversary was painted on the wall, most likely in blood.
Revy said into the communication devices, "Alright, we need to talk. Fucking now. You, me and Benny, Dutch. We need to talk. Leave Rock out of it."
Benny turned to Rock, pulled off his communication device and said to the other man, "Rock, stay here. I need to talk with Dutch about something, okay?"
Rock nodded, looking confused.
But he remained where he was.
Benny left the room and walked down the hall, and reached where Dutch was, and was relieved to see Revy.
Benny closed the door.
He was not surprised that Revy wanted to leave Rock out of this completely.
She didn't want Rock anywhere near this. Not near the subject of the Crimson King or the Dark Tower or anything.
But if the Crimson King still was around and was seeping his power into this world again, how exactly were they going to keep Rock from going near this?
Benny faced Revy and Dutch, reading how tense they were, seeing Revy's wide eyed look and seeing her hand just itching to grab her gun to shoot something.
Benny couldn't blame here. This brought all sorts of traumatic memories up for all of them.
Benny wondered how Revy was going to keep Balalaika from finding out about all of this.
While Balalaika and Revy had been keeping their relationship secret for a long time now, Benny doubted that there were many that didn't already know.
And who was going to mess with either woman? You'd have to be the dumbest fuck alive to go after Revy, Hotel Moscow's lover.
Benny had seen how Rock looked at Balalaika with jealousy, but had never commented on it.
But in any case? How were they going to explain this new huge-ass danger to the powers in Roanapur?
Even if any of them were willing to believe it-that there were other dimensions, and that a tower controlled it all and that there was an entity known as the Crimson King, ready to take that tower down and destroy literally everything, what the hell could they even begin to do, to stop it?
Dutch said, looking to Revy as he said, "Revy, I know you hate to do this, but we need you to learn how to get your powers ready, for what's coming."
Benny almost facepalmed hearing that.
Revy stared at Dutch, hearing that. Revy seriously did not like using the powers she had, because her powers reminded her of her biological mother and her biological father, so, she was out of practice.
Revy said the word that Benny and Dutch both were feeling, and honestly, just summed up their feelings entirely.
The word she said, was, "Fuck."
Author's note
So, I have no idea if I'm going to continue this after I've completed the third chapter of this. If I do, it probably won't be for a while.
Anyone reading this probably could tell that this was really rushed.
I just thought of this, feeling like Black Lagoon belonged somewhere alongside the whole Dark Tower thing.
So, for anyone who has questions? Revy, Dutch and Benny all were in Mid-World, knew Roland, Susannah, Eddie, Jake, Oy, Callahan and everyone else they met there. And they fought against the Crimson King, Randall Flagg and Mordred. But the Crimson King isn't quite dead yet-also, anyone who's read all of the Dark Tower series, knows that the whole other dimension thing and time is complicated in that series.
And yes, Revy has powers. In the Dark Tower series, children that have powers are used to destroy the "beams" that tie the Dark Tower to the other worlds and that keep all worlds stable. So, when I typed that all of the worlds will be in danger if the beams of the Dark Tower are destroyed, I meant it. Anything against the Crimson King, would be strictly out of survival. And yes, I have Revy's biological parents work for the Crimson King.
