The next morning, everyone awoke, and Casper got to work making breakfast in the kitchen. It was Sunday. James and Kat came down to breakfast first, followed by Stinkie and Fatso.
"Where's Uncle Stretch?" Casper asked. All of his uncles came down together usually when they weren't fighting their worst.
"What? Didn't you hear?" Stinkie asked mockingly.
"Hear what?" James asked.
"We got the twins back last night." Fatso answered.
"Stretch's twins?" Kat asked in shock.
"Yes, Stretch's twins." Stinkie replied. "We saw Chaos at the scavenger haunt and tracked her to her home. Stretch wasn't to let us come home or do anything else until we got the twins back." He explained. "He's up in the abandoned nursery."
"In that, I wouldn't blame him since they were taken from him." James declared.
"Uncle Stretch must feel relieved that he has them back." Casper realized.
"Yeah, doesn't mean we do though." Fatso exclaimed.
Casper knew that he would save some food for Stretch and take it to him soon. For now, he went on making food for his family.
...
It was now morning and Brenda and Stephen woke up crying. They were also hungry. Their crying awoke Stretch soon enough.
"Huh?" Stretch was startled out of his sleep. Then he remembered what happened last night. He and his brothers had found Chaos and trailed her to her house. They had gotten his babies back. Now they needed him to be a parent to them if he was wanting them in his afterlife.
Stretch got off the bed that was in there and went to the cribs. "Hey, hey, now. What's going on there, kids?" he asked curiously. "Daddy's here now. No need to cry." Stretch was a little shocked he said that. He was a daddy! It still seemed hard to believe.
Stephen and Brenda stopped crying for a moment to see and hear a strange new voice. They hadn't heard their father's voice in a long time. They were a little startled. They were used to seeing their mother first thing in the morning, or Aunt Tammie. Women. They started crying again.
"Hey, hey. I'm not going to hurt you." Stretch said as he picked up Brenda first. Then he picked up Stephen. "Daddy's here." Then he smelled the diapers. They were loaded! Great. His first real job as a new daddy. He knew he would have to find the diapers to change them.
Could Stretch be a parent and still be a scarer? He was still confused at the moment. He would no doubt need help with the twins growing up. Being a scarer was his job as a ghost. Parents always found ways to work things out for their kids and balance a job. He also still needed to think of names for them. He would want some scary names too. They were his offspring after all.
Stephen screeched in fear of who was holding him, hurting Stretch's ears and nearly making him drop him. "Ow! That's a little hard on the ears, little guy." Stretch retorted.
Then it hit him! He would call his son Screech. Now for his daughter.
The family downstairs heard the baby sounds from upstairs. Stinkie and Fatso definitely weren't lying. Well, they would have to get used to hearing crying babies again.
"I think I'll go and see if Uncle Stretch needs any help." Casper said. Then he flew through the ceiling.
"Good luck in being able to get near the babies." Stinkie said smugly. He doubted he could.
In the nursery, Stretch was trying to rock the twins. He could smell food downstairs and his own stomach growled for it, but he had to take care of the twins first. They were apparently afraid of him, their own dad!
Then Casper flew in. "Uncle Stretch, I heard you have your kids back. Is there anything I can do?" The boy ghost asked.
"Oh, Casper. Yes, there is. Please hold little Screech here. I gotta change my girl's diaper, then his." Stretch replied. He handed Screech to Casper.
"Hi, little Screech." Casper greeted his cousin. Yeah, he was his cousin! Hard to believe once again.
Stretch went to the changing table in there and dug out the diapers. He put Brenda on it and took off her diaper and cleaning her up. Then he put on a fresh diaper. He still remembered. "Ta da!" Stretch stated and showed Casper.
"Good job, Uncle Stretch." Casper smiled. He was rocking Stephen, now Screech. Screech had calmed down but was still disturbed.
"Okay, now I'll change his." Stretch declared. Casper handed his uncle his son and took Brenda.
"What's her name?" Casper asked.
"I don't know yet. Still thinking on hers." Stretch replied as he set about changing his son's diaper.
"I'm sure her name will be beautiful." Casper said.
"Yeah, Bulbhead." Stretch declared as he finished his son's diaper. "Ah, glad that's over."
The babies then went on crying. "Now what's wrong? I changed their diapers." Stretch was worried.
"You haven't fed them, right?" Casper asked.
"No. I haven't even fed myself."
"Well, bring them down to the kitchen. I'm sure we can find something." Casper said. He carried Brenda down while Stretch carried Screech.
Stretch's brothers and the humans were still in the kitchen finishing up when they came down. When they were there, James and Kat couldn't help but want to see them first thing. "Whoa, you weren't kidding." James said. "Hi there, little ones." He smiled at them.
"Hi, little girl." Kat greeted the baby girl. It felt nice to have another girl in the family. She and the ghosts weren't official family, but they shared the same house, so they were like a family. "What's her name?" she asked.
"I don't know yet. Still thinking." Stretch said, "But my son is named Screech."
"That's a good name for him." James declared.
Then the girl made a loud sound because she was afraid of the newcomer. "How about Shriek?" Kat grimaced, holding her ears as Casper held her.
Stretch raised his eyebrows. "That's it! Shriek!"
"Those names seem to fit them perfectly. They are your kids, Stretch." James declared.
"Screech and Shriek. I like it." Stretch smiled in joy. "What do we feed them?" he asked next.
"Do they take bottles or able to eat baby food?" Kat asked.
The Trio remembered having to make baby food for Casper when he was turned into a baby. "Probably some baby food by this time." Stretch stated.
They sadly didn't have any baby food right now. The crying would continue until they were fed.
"There's got to be some food that can be ground up." Casper stated. "Here, Kat, take her." He went to the fridge to see what was in there. He began taking some ingredients out to put in the blender. Meat, fruit, vegetables. It was ground up in the blender with the lid on and it was smooth food.
The food probably didn't smell the best when the lid was taken off but at least it was something for the moment. The Trio hadn't exactly been prepared for this.
Stretch was the one who fed his kids their food first. Then the twins were surprised at the taste in their mouths and instantly wanted more of it. This was going to be complicated with two of them. The twins were already wanting to fight for it.
Stretch made sure to put some in two different bowls and he fed both babies their food. They weren't quite the age that Casper had been as a baby. They still had no teeth yet but were able to eat soft foods. There was no baby formula here, but James would plan to go get some. They probably ate a mix of both food and formula by now. But then, maybe the baby food would be better than formula.
Hopefully, the babies wouldn't poop again so soon in their fresh diapers.
...
In Oregon, Chaos woke up and went to check on her kids. To her shock, she found they were gone! "NOOOOOOOO!" She screamed in despair.
"Stretch and his brothers must have gotten them. I'll see to it that they are punished, especially Stretch!" Chaos mused to herself. She gave an evil type smile. "They must have followed me home when I wasn't looking. Alright, Stretch, you want war, you got one!" She growled.
The Whipstaff household was going to be in for some trouble ahead.
Chaos alerted Tammie about what had happened, and Tammie said that she was with her all the way. She loved Brenda and Stephen like her own offspring too. The two ghost women were off to the state of Maine to get back what was theirs.
