Free day - Lullaby

A sudden chill spread through the air, forcing Namine to seek warmth. She snuggled further beneath the covers and sought the comfort the came from the presence beside her in bed. However she was severely dissapointed when her hand touched cold empty sheets. She blinked away the sleep from her eyes and searched the dark room for any sign of him.

She yet again came up empty and decided that she wouldn't be able to truly sleep ok without him by her side so she rose from the bed with a grunt and retrieved her robe from the side of her bed.

She padded softly down the hallway and stopped abruptly when she heard soft sounds coming from the room across from the bedroom.

She softly opened the door and the sight before her made her heart soar with affection.

"Fate is kind. She brings to those who love the sweet fulfillment of their secret love.,"

Her husband's voice sang strong and clear, his eyes drifting between the night sky out the window and the small bundle in his arms.

"Like a bolt right out of the blue, fate steps in and sees you through,"

Namine approached him and clutched onto his arm, startling him only momentarily.

"When you wish upon a star your dream comes true,"

The couple sang together, Namine leaning her head against her husband's shoulder. She continued singing with him for a bit longer before she decided she'd rather simply listen to his voice, letting him finish the final few lines solo.

"Why didn't you finish with me?" He asked her in a whisper.

Namine shrugged. "I just enjoy listening to you sometime,"

She looked down at the sleeping figure in her husband's arms, his tiny legs wiggling.

"I think I need to sing again," Roxas admitted, his wife nodding her agreement. "Care to join me for the whole thing this time?"

"I'd love to," she admitted with a smile.

The couple sang into the night, their baby boy falling in slumber while they were in the midst of their serenade.

"How's Kristen doing?" Namine whispered as Roxas gently placed Aspen in his own crib.

"She hasn't fussed at all tonight despite her big brother making all that noise," Roxas replied, rising to his feet and stretching his arms above his head.

Namine smiled as she brushed her fingers lightly through the faint blonde hair on her baby girl's head.

She placed a chaste kiss on her daughter's forehead and gave the same affection to her son before bidding the twins sweet dreams.

Namine and Roxas made their way back to their bedroom and now cold sheets, Namine shivering slightly as she huddled back underneath the covers.

"Goodnight love," Roxas whispered, kissing her on the forehead and wrapping his arms around her.

Namine drifted off with a smile on her face and her husband's sweet lullaby in her mind

This story is set in the same universe as the Our Song chapter as well as the Orchestra chapter. This is NOW my favorite chapter! If you haven't listened to Jesse McCartney's version of When You Wish Upon a Star, you haven't lived my friend! It honestly just sounds so beautiful and I thought it would be perfect as a lullaby. Loved this chapter in so many ways! Thank you for enjoying reading my one shots as much as I've enjoyed writing them!
