Chapter 7: Performance of The After Lifetime
(The concert hall on the 4th floor)
Luigi and the others got off the elevator and a faint sound could be heard.
Luigi- Hey, do you hear music?
Tails- This does look similar to a concert hall.
Bandana Dee- Now that you mention it…I do hear someone playing the piano. I believe that's one of Beethoven's songs.
Rottytops- How would you know about a pianist from Earth that lived 200 years ago if you're from another planet, Bandana Dee?
Bandana Dee- Me, Tiff, and Kirby took piano lessons not long after the Void Termina incident. I basically learned a few things and about some of the composers who made the music. Kirby on the other hand…I guess Tiff should've told Kirby not to eat the keys on the piano.
Just as they began to walk down the hall, a single symbol rolls down the hallway. This made Luigi stiff up a little bit.
Diddy Kong- Where did that symbol come from?
Tails- Knowing everything Luigi and I have been through on our previous ghost hunting adventure, this is usually a sign that the ghosts are nearby.
Rottytops- You sure seemed to have caught on real quickly for just going on one ghost hunting adventure prior to this one.
Tails- Luigi and Professor E. Gadd were good teachers, I guess.
As Luigi walked down the hallway, the rug suddenly cracked like a whip and was rushing for Luigi. Luckily, Luigi noticed and used the burst move to jump over the rug before it could hit him. That's when Luigi saw a ghost on the other side of the rug cracking it to try and attack Luigi.
Luigi- I need to…(Burst)…get to him somehow…(Burst)…but all this jumping…(Burst)…is making it difficult…
Diddy Kong- Let me handle this…
Then Diddy Kong using his acrobatics to leap over to the other side of the rug and then flash the ghost. Before the ghost could react, Diddy Kong sucked up the ghost into his Poltergust.
Luigi- All that jumping with the burst worked up a sweat. Wish there was a place I could wash up a bit.
Bandana Dee- I think you're in luck, Luigi! Look!
Then Luigi saw a men's restroom and a women's restroom halfway before a theater entrance.
Rottytops- That's so convenient! I think I need a quick break!
Then Rottytops enters women's restroom. Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bandana Dee, and Tails were about to follow her, but then Rottytops stops them.
Rottytops- Excuse me! But this is the ladies' room!
Then Rottytops closes the door while Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bandana Dee, and Tails looked at each other in confusion.
Bandana Dee- I figured since this haunted hotel is infested with ghosts out to kill us, something like gender specific rooms wouldn't matter.
Tails- And it's better for the five of us to stick together.
Luigi- Girls…who can figure them. Come on. Let's just use the men's room hopefully Rotty will be done when we get out and we can continue looking for Mario and the others.
(Later in the music theater)
Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bandana Dee, Tails, and Rottytops entered the theater room. On stage, there was a piano and it sounded like someone was playing. However, it appeared like no one was there playing the keys. But what got their attention was there was a painting of Toad hanging of the wall on stage.
Bandana Dee- Hey look! It's Toad!
Rottytops- Great! Let's use the Dark Light on the little mushroom and get him out of that painting.
Just as Rottytops was about to walk to the stage, Luigi blocked her path with his arm and flashlight end of his Poltergust.
Rottytops- Hey!
Luigi- I do want to save Toad, but think…this is too easy…
Tails- I agree. Toad is just dangling in front of us like bait on a hook. He's completely unguarded, this theater is suspiciously empty, and we hear music yet we can't see anyone playing the piano.
Diddy Kong- Well if it is a trap, I say better sprung on us now, since I know we can beat it together like the other traps they tried to set for us.
Then Diddy Kong jumps over Luigi and lands on the stage. But as Diddy approached Toad, the ghost playing the piano became visible. He was wearing fancy suit you'd expect from a pianist and had a hairstyle similar to Mozart. But it wasn't long before he noticed Diddy Kong behind him.
Amadeus Wolfgeist- Excuse me, but what are you doing on stage?! I am currently performing! And you are interrupting my show!
Diddy Kong- But I…
Amadeus Wolfgeist rolled up his sleeves before returning to the piano.
Amadeus Wolfgeist- Now go and take your seat! You don't want to miss…the performance of an afterlife-time!
Then Amadeus Wolfgeist began to play a much more vigorous melody as the theater door closed and was now blocked by a ghostly barrier.
Tails- We're trapped now!
Luigi- I told you this was too easy!
Amadeus Wolfgeist- Oh…but that's not the best part…
Then several of the chairs began to levitate and they rushed Diddy Kong. Diddy Kong managed to dodge by jumping off the stage, but the way the timing of when the chairs rushed at Diddy Kong matched the rhythm of the song that was playing. More chairs lifted off the ground and rushed at Luigi and Rottytops in rhythm of the music. They managed to dodge like Diddy Kong did. Eventually, all the seats were flying and they rushed at Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bandana Dee, Tails, and Rottytops while keeping in sync with the music being play. After the pianist was done with his piece, he looked and saw Luigi and the others still there and unharmed.
Amadeus Wolfgeist- How unfortunate…it appears we're out of seats for the audience. No matter. I'll just have to change things up a bit…
Then Amadeus played a different song and two ghost appeared from backstage. They were both dressed ballerinas with the masks and Tootoos they were wearing. And like the chairs, they ghosts were dancing in rhythm of music. The two attempted to attack Diddy with a pirouette. Diddy Kong jumped over the first and then backflipped to dodge the second pirouette. Then Diddy Kong tried to stun them with flashlight, but nothing happened.
Luigi- I think like with the sunglasses, those masks on their faces protect them from the flashlight.
Rottytops- Then we'll just suck them off!
Then Rottytops began having her Poltergust sucking and it actually pulled the masks off of the two ghosts. Before the ghost could do anything, Bandana Dee and Diddy Kong stunned them with their flashlights while Luigi and Tails sucked up the ghosts. But then Amadeus Wolfgeist stopped playing right in the middle of his piece.
Amadeus Wolfgeist- What?! No! My dancers! You…You're all ****ing ruining my performance!
Then he banged on the keys of the piano and the lid opened up. Amadeus Wolfgeist jumped into the piano and possessed it. Similar to the piano in Super Mario 64. The piano jumped into the air and attempted to land on Diddy Kong and Tails. Luckily, they moved out of the way before the piano landed.
Diddy Kong- Hey! This ain't no cartoon! What are you thinking?! Someone could actually die for getting a piano dropped on them!
Tails- I think that was the point, Diddy!
The piano jumped into the air again and landed in the center of the audience section where the seats used to be. This made a shockwave that stretched across the room. Luigi managed to jump over it with a burst like he did with the rug earlier. Then Amadeus Wolfgeist came out of the piano for a moment while rubbing his head. Luigi attempted to flash him, but Amadeus blocked with his sleeve.
Amadeus Wolfgeist- How rude of you, plumber!
Then he jumped back into the piano and had it jump back on stage. Then the piano opened its lid and spat out several bombs at Luigi and the others. Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bandana Dee, and Rottytops ran, but Tails managed to suck one with his Poltergust and launch it right back into the piano. After the bomb exploded inside the piano, the piano flipped on its side, allowing Luigi to shoot a plunger at it and use a slam to make the piano crash back to the floor and shatter to pieces. This made Amadeus Wolfgeist angry.
Amadeus Wolfgeist- Grrrrr! You not only ruin my performance and take away my backup dancers, but now you gotta wreck my piano! This is an artist's life!
Just then, Bandana Dee stunned him with the flashlight and began sucking him up with the Poltergust. But not before Amadeus Wolfgeist took one last bow to his audience before Bandana Dee sucked him up. Once Amadeus was in Bandana Dee's Poltergust, an elevator button with the number 6 was spat out of Bandana Dee's Poltergust.
Bandana Dee- Good melody. Perhaps we can play the piano again sometime. And we got another elevator button. This time for the 6th floor.
Diddy Kong- Wonder what surprise is obviously waiting for us on that floor?
Luigi- We can worry about that later. Right now, we got to free Toad!
Then Luigi shines the Dark Light and releases Toad from his framed prison.
Toad- Luigi? What's going on here?
Luigi- It's a long story, Toad.
Tails- Perhaps we should drop him off at Professor E. Gadd's little bunker before we progress through the hotel. Need to keep Toad somewhere safe.
(Hellen Gravely's office)
Hellen Gravely was watching security footage Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bandana Dee, Tails, and Rottytops escorting Toad to the elevator. After watching the part where Toad waved goodbye to them, she glared at the screen while trying to calmly pet her little Polterkitty. Two of her ghost employees were starring from behind. But they jumped when they saw Hellen point towards the door.
Hellen Gravely- Go, now! And bring back those fools!
After the ghosts fled, Hellen Gravely continued to glare into the screen.
Hellen Gravely- Damn you, Luigi! You're just as much of a pain in my ass as King Boo said you and Loewy are!
