Yu-Gi-Oh: Collision

Chapter 4: Meetings

"Hello in there? Hello?"

After Judai and his friends found this new group of people lying flat on the ground they decided to try waking them up. Judai was trying to get the boy with spiky hair to wake up.

"Are they alright?" Johan asked, worried.

"I don't know," Judai said before turning back to the boy. "Hello!"

Yuma could barely hear a voice calling to him as he woke up to find himself lying flat on the ground.

"Ugh," Yuma groaned as he slowly moved to sit up.

"He's alive," Sho said in relief.

"Hey there, kid, are you alright?" Judai asked with genuine concern. "You look like you've really been through something."

Yuma looked up to see four new people he'd never seen before standing above him. The older boy with the red jacket who just talked to him had a look of genuine concern on his face.

"I think I'm fine," Yuma said, confused. "What happened? Where am I? And how did I get here?"

"We're not sure about that either," Judai said, looking just as confused. "We're just as confused as you are."

"You and your friends just happened to end up here, right outside this dueling arena," Johan added.

"Dueling arena," Hearing that, Yuma was kind of excited, but was also beyond confused, "But how-?"

He then realized something, "My friends! Where are they?!"

"Uh, right behind you," Judai pointed behind Yuma.

Yuma looked in horror to see Shark, Rio, Kaito, Haruto, Kotori and Tetsuo lying flat on the ground.

"Shark! Kaito! Kotori! Everyone!" Yuma turned back to Judai. "Are they alright?! What happened to them?"

"We don't know yet," Judai simply said. "We literally just found you lying here on the ground minutes ago."

They soon heard groans and turned to see Yuma's friends waking up and getting up from where they were lying.

"They're waking up!" Yuma said in relief.

He ran over to Kotori.

"Kotori!" Yuma called as he helped his girlfriend up.

"Yuma!" Kotori said happily as she hugged Yuma.

Haruto, who had just woken up, looked to see that Kaito was getting up as well.

"Brother!" Haruto ran over to his brother and hugged him, which he returned.

"I'm fine, Haruto," Kaito assured.

"What happened?" Rio wondered aloud. "Weren't we just dueling in the lab? How did we get here?"

"That's what I'd like to know," Shark added.

"I have no idea," Yuma answered. "After we were swallowed by that huge light, we somehow ended up here," he then addressed the new people he had just met. "And then I met these guys."

Judai waved to the new people standing opposite him and his group.

"Hey, there," Judai spoke up.

"Um, hi," Kotori said slowly. "Nice to meet you."

The others with Yuma were very confused. Who were these people?

"Who are all of you?" Shark asked suspiciously.

"Oh, my name's Judai Yuki," Judai spoke with a smile.

"And I'm Johan Anderson," Johan introduced himself. "Nice to meet ya."

"My name is Sho Marufuji," Sho spoke up. "And this is my brother, Ryo."

"He goes by the name Kaiser around here," Judai pointed out.

"Cool," Yuma commented.

"Wow, he's got a nickname just like Shark," Tetsuo commented.

Shark grunted in response.

Kaiser said nothing. He could tell that these people meant no harm, but he still wondered why they suddenly appeared in front of his dueling arena.

"Well, they seem nice," Tetsuo whispered to Rio.

Rio thought so too, though she got the feeling that Kaiser always gave people an intimidating impression.

"Yeah and maybe they're good duelists too," Rio added.

Yuma was really interested to get to know these new people. He eagerly went up to Judai and offered him a handshake.

"Hi," Yuma introduced himself. "I'm Yuma Tsukumo."

"Nice to meet you, Yuma," Judai responded with a smile. Yuma's enthusiasm kind of reminded Judai of himself.

"My name is Kotori Mizuki," Kotori introduced herself. "Yuma is my… boyfriend."

"Oh, you two are together, huh?" Judai said with a smirk.

"Lucky you," Johan spoke.

Yuma blushed, "Well, thanks."

"We're really happy together," Kotori added.

Tetsuo stepped forward and introduced himself, "I'm Tetsuo Takeda. Yuma and I have been best friends for a long time."

"Cool!" Judai said. "Sho and I had been best friends for quite a while too. And we still are, aren't we, buddy."

Sho chuckled, "Yep, big bro. We sure are."

"Cool!" Tetsuo said with a bright smile.

Rio decided to introduce herself, "I'm Rio Kamashiro."

She motioned to her brother, "This is my twin brother, Ryoga."

"Hi," Shark simply said.

Kaiser raised an eyebrow noticing how similar Rio's name was to his own, but decided not to comment.

"Hey, you're the one called Shark, right?" Johan asked.

"Shark is my nickname," Shark answered. "You can call me that if you want to."

"Cool, good to meet you, Shark," Judai said as he went over and offered Shark a handshake.

Shark was hesitant at first, but after noticing that Judai seemed to have similar personality traits to Yuma and deciding that they shouldn't be afraid of him, Shark took his hand and shook it.

Being the only two people left that haven't been introduced, Kaito decided to introduce himself and his brother.

"My name is Kaito Tenjo," Kaito spoke. "This is my brother, Haruto."

"Hi," Haruto said with a wave. He was shy, but he could tell that these people were actually really nice.

"Hey, there," Judai waved to the younger boy and his older brother.

"Well, now that we've all been introduced," Shark spoke up. "Someone mind telling me, what's going on here? And how did we get here?"

"Who knows?" Kaito answered. "Perhaps the light that consumed us somehow teleported us here, that much is certain."

"But how?" Yuma inquired.

Judai soon noticed something on Yuma's arm.

"Hey, is that your duel disk?" Judai asked, pointing to Yuma's arm.

Yuma looked at his arm and noticed that he was still wearing his duel disk.

"It sure is," Yuma answered. That's when he realized. "Are you duelists too?" He asked eagerly.

"We sure are," Judai nodded. "In fact, you might say we're dueling legends around here."

"Really?" Tetsuo said in surprise.

"Yeah, me and Sho just graduated from Duel Academia," Judai explained. "That was where Sho and I honed our skills to become the best in our classes. Sho's brother graduated from there a few years earlier. We had the best three years of our lives there, didn't we, Sho?"

Sho smiled, "We sure did."

"Cool!" Yuma said excitedly.

Yuma was feeling really excited. If these guys were considered legends, then they must be really strong duelists. Kaito, however, narrowed his eyes at Judai's group. If they were dueling legends, why hasn't Kaito heard of them before? And he's never heard of any place called Duel Academia either.

"Is that what you were doing right before you came here?" Kaiser asked. "Dueling?"

"It is," Kaito spoke. "My father was testing a new type of dueling technology when a mysterious light came and knocked us out."

"And that was before you ended up here?" Judai guessed.

"Yes," Kaito nodded.

"What sort of technology were you testing?" Sho asked.

"It was a new type of duel room that would allow duelists to do augmented reality duels without a D-gazer," Yuma replied.

"D-gazer?" Judai said in confusion.

"Augmented reality duels?" Kaiser and Sho said in unison.

"What are those?" Johan asked, curiously.

"Wait, you've never heard of Augmented Reality Duels?" Yuma said, surprised.

"Can't say that we have," Johan shrugged.

"What is a D-gazer anyway?" Judai asked.

Yuma took out his D-gazer and showed it to Judai.

"This is a D-gazer," Yuma explained. "You put it over your left eye and it allows the duelist to see the augmented reality in a duel."

"Woah, cool," Judai said, amazed. "Haven't seen that around here before."

"What's augmented reality?" Sho asked, curious.

"Where we come from, it makes a duel feel more, well, realistic," Tetsuo answered.

"Cool," Judai said. "We don't have those around here."

"Yeah, our duel disks do generate holograms, but we don't need those D-gazers for that," Johan pointed out.

"You can see duels without D-gazers?" Yuma said in surprise.

"How is that possible?" Shark wondered aloud.

"Hmm," Kaito wondered if there was more to their current location. "I wonder if we somehow traveled back in time… to a time where augmented reality duels and D-gazers didn't exist."

"Time travel?" Judai said softly. He remembered a time when he had teamed up with a certain duelist from the future.

"Are you sure about that?" Shark said skeptically.

"Either that or more likely we may have jumped to… another dimension," Kaito spoke.

"Another dimension?" Yuma said in surprise.

"Well, that certainly wouldn't surprise us," Judai spoke up. "We deal with stuff like that all the time."

"You do?" Yuma said in surprise.

"Yeah," Judai said. "It's a bit of a long story."

Yuma was beginning to wonder if he and Judai had a bit more in common than they imagined.

"Well, all oddities aside," Tetsuo chimed in. "What should we do?"

There was silence among the group as they didn't know what to do either.

Then Kaiser spoke up, "Well, I suppose we could have them stay at the league building until we figure out what to do with them."

"That sounds like a good idea, Brother," Sho spoke.

"You're actually gonna let us stay with you?" Yuma said in surprise.

"Yeah, well, it's not like we can just leave you be," Judai said. "If you really are from another dimension. We'll be happy to help."

"Thank you so much," Kotori said with gratitude.

"How do we know we can trust them?" Shark asked, eyeing them suspiciously. "We barely know them."

"It's not like we have much of a choice at the moment, Ryoga," Rio pointed out.

"I got an idea," Johan suddenly chimed in. "How about a duel?"

"A duel?!" Yuma said excitedly.

"Great idea, Johan," Judai added. "The best way to get to know a person is definitely through a duel."

"But who's going to duel who?" Sho asked.

Before anyone could say anything else…

"Hey, Judai," Yuma got Judai's attention. Yuma pointed at him, before dramatically declaring. "I challenge you to a duel!"

Judai gained a look of surprise, "Oh, really?"

"Yeah! I want to see how strong you are!" Yuma declared. "If you and your friends really are dueling legends in this world, then dueling you will be fun!"

Another reason Yuma wanted to duel Judai was that there was something about Judai that kind of reminded Yuma of himself.

Judai smiled big time. He was already starting to admire Yuma and his fighting spirit. He was very eager to see Yuma's dueling skills for himself.

"Alright, Yuma. I accept your challenge," Judai announced.

Yuma smiled big time at Judai's words.

"But, Big Bro," Sho spoke up. "You still have your duel with Ryo. Shouldn't you save your strength."

"Hey, it's ok, Sho," Judai assured his best friend. "The more duels I have, the more I enjoy myself."

Judai turned back to Yuma, "Alright, Yuma, let's do it."

"Oh, Yeah!" Yuma shouted in excitement. "I'm gonna bring to you, Judai!"
